      Awesomely brilliant video Tom.
      The dealership seem to be fantastic
      Allowing you that access for us etc
      They are clearly hugely thorough with everything, and very transparent about all with the vehicle.
      For a 16 year old, bespoke Supercar, this particular service was, imo, good news.
      U have a complete and accurate heads up of where the CGT is at.
      Under the circumstances, the bill is reasonable ( IMO )
      The CGT is going up in value.
      This record of the service, adds hugely to the provenance of the car.
      Future potential buyers could watch this, and it alleviates many potential concerns.
      The service cost u
      $ 16 k today, but, it’s probably immediately added $ 50 k, or more to its future potential value ?
      That $ 16 k bill, has actually been an excellent investment in the CGT.
      Big thanks for this, and all of your efforts with content.
      🚗 💥 💨

    This is one of my most favourite videos you have ever done, I love seeing all the parts and how it all works. It’s a incredible piece of kit, it’s a work of art. This is also why I think Tom is epic, he’s honest, works hard and can’t believe it’s two years since you got this! ( £400 for a Porsche badge? Ouch!) but it’s a incredible car and wow, that bill from the car at collecting cars 😭😭

    I love these real world ownership cost type of videos.
    The final price didn’t seem too bad to me when I compared it to 12K to repair a very sick 04 Bentley conti GT a specialist 2 years ago!
    At least the Carrera GT is appreciating in value.

  • @SamAustin
    @SamAustin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thanks for sharing this Tom! It's something no one will ever know unless you are a millionaire. 16k is expensive but as the car is an investment for you it balances itself out. To me though it looked like they only really did oil/filter/sparks/tyres and some odd bits here and there......that VIP labour rate is insane! Interested to see when/if you sell the car whether or not it was worth it for you. The potential of a 50K service bill is surely worrying for anyone so I hope the overall ownership of the Carrera GT has been worth it so far 👍

    Looking forward to watch this fully. Did a passenger ride in a CGT at the Supercar event at Goodwood over the weekend. Definitely on the dream car list if I ever make it big. I remember reading somewhere the once every 12 years engine out service is around £40k but still not bad considering the value of this now & looks to be increasing even more. I remember thinking, flipping heck that's expensive when you bought it but it's pretty much doubled in value since then. Well done sir.

    Jay Leno highly recommends steel disks over composite for regular street use. A massive price difference. I think he even said that some people swap the composite for steel when new, then put the composite disks on when selling, to help attract buyers.

    It’s always the Labour they get you on, even on this it costs more then the actual parts. Still considering the car that’s not actually bad. I mean a Bugatti set of tyres is what 22 grand. But at least you know it’s a good car as they’ve stripped its engine out and checked everything. It’s important in the U.K. to have your car regularly checked because if the weather and climate, it can rust parts easily. Plus our crap roads wear parts away.

    Amazing that engine is tip top, but all the peripheral bits & nuts & screws & consumables adds £9k to base engine out price.
    But, on a car of this value, a few £10ks every 4 y and £2k/y in between is pretty good value.

  • @adrianhearne3359
    @adrianhearne3359 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Brilliant video, Tom - very informative! I've always wondered how 'manageable' these things are in the real world. I'd say that the cost is almost trivial compared to the vehicle's value - it's probably appreciated more than £16.5 in the time that it took to carry out the service - no joke when you also consider what the 'value' of seeing that service stamp would be to any future potential purchaser anyway! A huge bill, but it must be far more painless when you consider what you're sitting in, financially anyway. Plus, if you carry on only covering similar mileage each year then you're pretty 'safe' I'd say!

  • @ianmedium
    @ianmedium 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have to be honest ( and I know it’s easy for me to think-spend your money!) but for such an esoteric car of this caliber I honestly thought an engine out bill with just the usual service parts to be replaced would be at least £20,000 and then the extras. I mean, your talking of the same caliber and desirability of Bugatti or Pagani and I bet an engine out full service on one of those would be eye watering!
    And then there is the investment factor. This beauty is only going to increase in value, would not surprise me that at the next engine out service in four years it’s going to be at least banging on the door of one point eight mill, so in those terms these services could be looked upon in the long term as free and as you know. Factory service and regular service adds to the value and ease to sell.
    It’s like owning a complicated Patek, every five years it goes back to Patek, you spend two or three thousand but in the end the value goes up way more than the service costs!
    Dare I say this Tom, long term when considering the year on year increase in value this is probably the cheapest running costs of any other of your cars!
    What a fantastic video of a fantastic car. I hope you can get a few more summer miles on it this season.
