    I love your videos I really like your work, I've been working in this area for 20 years and I still can't be calm and do a job like that, but here in Portugal nobody wants to pay for a good vinyl thank you

  • @tamus101
    @tamus101 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Surely most problems due to adhesive separating is due to an incorrect post heating process? Obviously some cases can be down to purely poor manufacture of the vinyl, but most of the time will be down to over heating while post heating?

    CK. I am able to remove the lifting in that V like you show and it looks great afterward, but the following day, it is back to the same problem. I have tried post heating but it still doesn't seem to stay. Do think I am not getting it hot enough on post heat?

    • @tgxperience
      @tgxperience 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CK, I wanted to update this. I tried using a laser thermometer on my post heating of the V to ensure I was reaching 170+. It seems to have worked. No more lifting in the V last I checked and your method for 'fixing' the V works well, just make sure if you are reading this to put plenty of heat in it. Also I noticed my cheapo vinyl gets tacky when it's hot so I have to let it cool a bit before pressing it down into the V.

    Around the 8 minute mark with the bubbles... I'm facing the same issue even after having cleaned and post heated. My guess is it's just a high tension area (tailgate on an SUV around the license plate). After heating again and removing air, the area will lift again after about 20 minutes or so. There a way I can inject some primer 94 with a syringe into the lifted are and fix this issue or will it not tack enough to adhere to the wrap? Pretty irritating.

    • @20tea
      @20tea ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bill Rupp Thanks, all what you say is true. I've redone my tailgate, but had to first lay a piece around the license plate area and trim at the contours. My second piece covered the whole tailgate where it was trimmed up to match and very slightly overlap the first piece. The result put much less stress on the wrap around the recessed plate area and it looks great for about a half year now. Have the whole car done in the Vvivid + grey forged carbon matte wrap and get positive comments on it all the time. When done right, all the hard work pays off!

    • @christianillidi4931

      Post heating is heating the vinyl after you installed it in stressed or recessed areas to "kill" the vinyl. Each vinyl has its own temp, so check that before you post heat.

    • @Imakebootysclap

      I keep hearing in wrap videos vivid this and vivid that so Im gonna guess vivid is the best. If you are going to wrap it your self Id advise using cheap china ebay wrap until you get good at it or you will just waste money. Also Rose gold sounds like a chrome wrap which is the hardest to do. Pay a professional to do it or you will just be throwing money away, all cromes turn white when stretched or heated even slightly, its really hard to do a wrap and almost impossible for any type of chrome unless you are very experienced. Good luck

    • @20tea
      @20tea 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would lay some low tack blue painters tape covering about a 3-6 inches around the area you drill and take your time (drill periodically) to allow it to not get too hot. The tape coverage will also minimize hot metal flakes from landing on your wrap.

      GTR-J post heat temperature is slightly different between brands, just double check with the manufacturer for proper temps

    • @20tea
      @20tea 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's helps to use the film at room temperature or a bit warmer. Cold temps make it harder to stretch and could tear the vinyl. Doing it on hot days has some drawbacks too. Matte is very picky with a heat gun (glosses up) ,so heat carefully. Satin isn't as bad, but be modest when using the felt squeegee. Satin is my favorite to work with looks great!

  • @tbonecelica

      is not necessarily a matter of heat gun temp setting (a lot of installers use simple guns with just 3 settings low/med/high or a gas blow torch ) the temperature you should be concerned is the actual film surface. for stretching you simply feel the film getting softer and for post heating 80-90 celsius (measure it with a ir gun )
