Well shown buddy. How do you tend to hide the mic setup when fiming? Do you shoot with mic setup for sound alone and then rollers to combine in post or some other way around?

Fantastic breakdown. Really covers everything you could imagine and shows the professional way to do it. I will say that the exhaust track seems a little flat/fuzzy. Did you have to denoise it or something? Or perhaps the mic just doesn't get the full range of sound in that off-to-the-side position - maybe a longer arm allowing the mic to point more directly at the pipe would help. Then again, the sound could also be true to that car and just not what I'm expecting to hear.

Are there options to mount the mic in a more hidden location? Or do you get audio clips then shoot your rollers after and edit the audio in?

Hi Ben, I've been using exactly the same equipment as you (Zoom H5, Rode M5s, Deadcat, Vacuum Mount) on a 2009 BMW 128i. With the gain on the H5 set at max 4, (any higher and there is massive clipping) and with the mic at 30com from the exhaust, I cannot get the same quality recording as you. There is massive noise, which seems to be from the tires, and I cannot find a way of preventing it from being recorded,, or of filter it out in post using either Audacity or Final Cut. I'd appreciate any advice you may have to help me isolate the exhaust audio from the background noise. Thx. Ian
