I REALLY wish I had seen this before buying. I have had the absolute worst experience EVER with NordicTrack. I had to wait nearly 3 months for it to be delivered (and had to chase it down or I’d still be waiting) and guess what? My treadmill hasn’t worked from DAY 1!!! Brand new and hasn’t worked at all! Customer service is HORRIBLE. After 15+ HOURS on the phone and ichat they send me a new motor controller. I just replaced it and IT STILL DOESN’T WORK. I got them to eat the $250 return pick up fee but I didn’t know about the 10% restocking…..HORRIBLE COMPANY. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. DO NOT BUY!!! My Peloton will be here in 10 days…..

We have the x32i, went dead right after 30 days. Support was *awful*. I finally used twitter to direct message them and then finally got somewhere. We replaced the controller board, the directions they provided were wrong, likely a different model. Your video was helpful to see we didn't need to take the top flap off, so for the x32i we took off exactly what you have here as well. The key to getting the board out is there are three mounting screws where the big green resistor is. The left screw to take off the board mounting plate is covered by the resistor, the middle screw is shared by the resistor, and the third is back in the corner along the same horizontal line as the other two. When removing the circuit board there are only two screws on the right after the circuit board ends. CAREFUL loosening them as the board will slip out! Hold it horizontal or have someone else hold the board.

    Completely agree with you Jack.
DO NOT BUY A NORDIC TRACK!
Got the same model (X22i) , maybe one year newer (minor cosmetic differences).
Motor control board shorted out after 21 days.
Waited on hold for customer service for 3 hours.
(Customer service line times are better now, that was mid September last year.)
When agent finally got on the line, they accidentally disconnected.
Had to wait ANOTHER 3 hours.
The second agent told me it would take SIX MONTHS to get a replacement board.
I told them that if that was the case, they could come get the machine and give me a refund.
They put me on hold, then got approval to pull a board from the assembly line and get it to me within a week.
-To be clear: Company policy was to use all boards for NEW machines and make repair orders WAIT.
That is who Nordic Track is.
Now, six months later, the motor control board has again shorted out.
Got right through to Customer service.
With a bit of talking, convinced them to expedite replacement board (UPS AIR).
Just talked to service tech: HE IS BOOKED FOR FOUR MONTHS.
Called Nordic Track. They gave me some BS about service contract rules.
Said they could not switch to another tech, I had to wait.
I'm still not sure that the motor control board is the only problem.
Heard a LOT of sizzling when it shorted out. Hope it didn't get the motor, too.
Won't know until board is replaced. No clue when that will be.
Nordic Track agent could not help move things along, refused to give me a one month credit for the problem.
THEN HAD THE NERVE TO ACTUALLY SAY "Nordic Track stands behind their equipment".
DO NOT GET A NORDIC TRACK! DONT. EVER!!

    • @KC-lz9qg
      @KC-lz9qg ปีที่แล้ว

Haha! They stand behind their equipment, because standing on their equipment is pointless cause it doesn't work!! Really want to buy one, but nervouse about all these negative reviews. I'm in Australia and looking at purchasing though a supplier who are a family company, not direct with Nordic. However, I'll be asking a lot of questions before going ahead, if I do at all. Thanks for sharing your comment.

Wow! Wish I found this a 6 weeks ago…I just bought a brand new one and it’s been a disaster! It’s not working out of the gate-I’ve not gone 1-tenth of a mile. White glove deliveries didn’t even plug it in, they wouldn’t wait for us to get back in town to deliver so my house sitter took the delivery, they refused to remove the old treadmill even though I paid for it and Now I find out there are no service repair persons in my location so I have to fix myself or return it for the fees you discussed and they won’t send a new one since there isn’t any service provider in my area, the person on the phone said the sales team should’ve never sold it to me because of that-and yet, here I am stuck with a $3200 machine 🤦🏻‍♀️ they have refunded my extended warranty, gave me $160 credit and are sending me parts! This is how the are rectifying the issues…insane! DO NOT BUY I plan to make a BBB report.

I had issues with them a few years ago and I did file a complaint with the BBB. A bit of time passed before I received a notification from the BBB, explaining my complaint and negative review had been removed on behalf of the company because I had filed it under the incorrect company. In other words, they have so many companies under their umbrella that they can just bounce the blame from one company to another.

NOTE: This product works exactly as described. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxguEIMc_Qwab-3QMTpF6jaRL80hiOOsIN It originally earned a four-star review due to a minor defect (see below). However, the manufacturer's customer service rep (Lita) went above and beyond the call of duty and deserves five stars now. I wish I could give even more!I purchased this item which arrived quickly. Assembly instructions were easy to follow. There was only one problem: One bolt did not screw into the hole properly. I called the company. Their customer service rep (Lita) was terrific! She took all my information and submitted a request to replace the defective part. I'm hoping to finish assembly and start using this treadmill soon. (Fingers crossed...)FOLLOW UP: Lita called back to inform me that the company will send a replacement part AND a technician(!!) to install it properly. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Thank you!!

Thank you for the video. We bought our x22i in May 2020 and received it June 28, 2020. Our first failure was 1/25/21. Received a replacement board on 2/1/21 and now we're waiting for the replacement motor. I'm tempted to replace the board and see if it will work with just the new board. We tried to open it up last night but even with our drill we couldn't get the screws undone. May try again after watching this video. I really LOVE the machine when it works. Not at all happy that so many of us have had failures and that they don't have tons of back-up boards and motors in stock waiting for the next failure. They said 3 more weeks for the motor.

Sole will also let you try it out 30 days, NO FEES (restocking fee bullshit) and NO RETURN SHIPPING cost to you. Literally Zero charge to you. Unlike Nordictrack.
Plus Sole offers a LIFETIME warranty cause they know its made extremely well. Bottom line, if you’re not interested in paying a monthly subscription , then get a Sole. Excellent advice! I ordered the newest model and it’s been a nightmare! One if the foundation screws could not be installed, they also sent me the wrong kit to use for initial set up. They sent technicians twice to work o on it. The belt only intermittently works and they are trying to blame it on me. I haven’t even used it more than twice in the five months that I’ve had it (because it could be assembled properly). I told them to pick it up and they won’t. Also says I would have warranty options after purchase but now they say there is no warranty available! NEVER BUY A NORDIC TRACK!! thanks for spreading the word. I will do the same!

I repair fitness equipment, and when a company expects a customer to repair a machine that is under warranty, the consumer/customer needs to firmly say "no." Do not let the manufacturer convince you to perform the repairs - if your new car has a failure under warranty, do you watch a video and wait for parts to arrive and repair it yourself?

    • @mjohnson1741

I am a "DIY" type person but I have done every troubleshooting thing I can and am out of options. Thanks for this comment because now I know what to expect when I call them to fix the issue. I have an extended warranty and even though I like to fix things myself, I definitely do not have time to learn how to install new parts in a treadmill.

I wish Joe Rogan would do a podcast on suckass businesses like Nordictrack. I am pretty big into fitness and finally earned enough to get a Nordictrack 2450 new. Damn thing cost me 2K. After 2 months from buying it, the base platform split down the middle. Nordictrack insisted I had to install the mailed replacement. Like changing a tire...OK. 1-2 hours later, I had it going again only to have it the same day shut off at random times, while running fast or slow. They mailed me a new motherboard to install. I insisted on a tech this time to do the labor. They say none are available, so it sits unused for 2 months. Nordictrack gives capitalism a bad name. I pray for their business downfall. I hate you Nordictrack!

I just had the same exact experience. Treadmill worked great for 2 months and then the belt/motor randomly quit today. I had more luck getting a speedy response from customer service by using the chat function on the site so I fortunately didn't have to deal with being on hold for hours, but same deal, I now have to wait weeks for the new controller to be shipped and install it myself with their how-to videos. I complained that it's pretty ridiculous for them to expect me to prop the 400 lb treadmill up and fix it myself (I'm a very petite lady), and asked if there is any way to get reimbursed or extend the warranty. The customer service representative said I can request for the warranty and ifit membership to be extended for the period of time the treadmill was out of commission so definitely keep that in mind if this happens to you. I've also seen some murmurings of a class action lawsuit but who knows if that'll get off the ground!

Had a similar issue with 1750 commercial. Out of the box the belt was too loose and rubbing to the plastic motor cover... was able to tighten and stop the rubbing. 3 weeks in the belt stopped turning. Called customer service and they said sometimes you need to power cycle the board (unplug for 5 minutes and then start normally). I left it unplugged all day because I didn’t have time to troubleshoot a treadmill that was only 3 weeks old. Plugged it in later and it worked perfectly again for 3 days. Went down for a workout this morning and the belt stopped again. Unplugged for about 10 minutes and tried again. The belt works in manual mode, but nothing on an actual iFit workout. I’ll waste more time calling them today... seems like a bad board. I feel your frustration man. They should be sending a service technician to your door as part of the warranty especially under 30 days. I’m not real happy either when I only have 20 minutes to workout every morning and I can’t just hope that it will work every morning or lose 10 minutes leaving it unplugged and it might still not work.

    Appreciate this video!
Re: deviation.... do the foot rail screws just "hang out" (on the end of the screw) through a loose/oval hole (just to keep them straight somewhat) or are they threaded at the end of the screw with a hole that fits the screw? I bought a cheap treadmill and we're having insane problems with it. The left foot rail has the "oval" hole (bigger than the screw itself), and the right foot rail is fully threaded. When I adjust the belt deviation, the right is damn near impossible to tighten (because it's already WAY tight) and the left can loosen or tighten easily. Something has to be wrong.

My motor just died yesterday after only four months. My monitor came on no problem and incline worked, but belt wouldn’t turn. I am beyond disappointed and upset. We did get customer service pretty quickly and they are sending us a new motor but it will take three-weeks. They clearly know this is a big issue as they came to that conclusion very quickly I absolutely love this treadmill and love the IFIT program and have become dependent upon it especially during this time with gyms being closed down only outside etc... I do think this treadmill is far superior to the Peloton but it appears there are some significant defects and the customer service just isn’t; there. It started with them dropping the treadmill off in a box at the door. For this price they should have offered set up like Peloton. I fear we are going to continue to have problems and based on this video the next thing to go with be the computer. This is a very expensive machine and I thought I would get years of use before any issues. If I had seen these issues and reviews before I purchased I would not have bought this machine.

valve grinding compound works great on the tip of your screw driver for stubborn screws. Even when the head of a screw is starting to strip it can get it out usually. I'm stopping by Peleton this Thursday to get a tread plus. I just wish you could watch the nature trails without a subscription. The sales lady said you can watch them but the online support said you can't watch them and I trust support more. Oh and Peleton support answered my question on a Sunday within an hour of my emailed question.

I purchased this same type of machine back in February 2021. Did not see this video prior to the purchase. Now I am having some issues with the machine. For example, the incline sometimes does not work. I am being told by customer service that the machine MUST be turned off and be plugged out every SINGLE day. They referred to the manual with the instructions, "Never leave the incline trainer unattended while it is running. Always remove the key, press the power switch into the off position (see the drawing on page 5 for the location of the power switch), and unplug the power cord when the incline trainer is not in use." I told them that this is a poor experience from a customer perspective. If I had known that for maintaining this treadmill it required to be plugged out every day, then I would have passed on purchasing it. I am now disappointed with the purchase since I also had to wait for parts replacement (they had to replace the idler roller) which took several weeks. Oh yeah, I did wait on them sending out a tech which took several weeks on top of waiting to get the actual parts shipped out to me.

was going to buy this. Have the older version that crapped out, and crapped out only after a few months of use. Has been sitting in my spare room since. How is it doing since replacing parts? Should I just replace the parts on my old one? (X9i). I blamed myself for the thing burning up as I though maybe wasn't level. After watching this, I am thinking it is the brand. Just curious if yours is still going since replacements. Thanks - happy running :)

Thank you Jack for posting this. Now I know what I'm up against. My screen and incline both operate, however, the belt is not moving. Nordic Track is sending me PART #419498 (CNTRLR,MC5100D-EXT-48,ARPS). No ETA of course because the part is on backorder (shocking!!!!). Do you feel I should be receiving an additional part (ie. the Motor) or did the motor automatically come with the controller board? Also, have you had any additional problems with your machine since you replaced the board and motor? I truly appreciate all your input.

We will take that up with them next week. I will post another video if they make me do the labor. We thought we were buying a reliable machine.

I have a 5 year old Nordictrac X9i. Predecessor to this unit. Knock on wood the main motor or control board has ever gone out. That said the incline motor has been replaced 4-5 times since we bought this unit. It just went out again yesterday. Contacted support today and they are still providing a new incline motor under warranty but I have to replace. If you are in the market for a new treadmill and you run I would recommend something other than the incline trainer series. We are trying to squeeze maybe 1-2 more years out of this unit and we will be looking to replace. Right now the Sole is looking interesting.

So just to add an additional perspective because I understand the frustration of a BAD experience.
I have had my Nordictrack x11i for a little over 8 years. It has been a workhorse ( we actually use it frequently ) with few issues. I have recently had to replace the incline motor (2020) and the older 9 “ panel display (July 2021) as the touch screen became unresponsive. The incline motor tends to strip over extended use/time. That said, support is difficult to just get on the phone, but once you have managed to get someone (during COVID) , they tend to get the parts to you. The issue is that Nordictrack appear to use 3rd party certified techs that are suppose to contact you to schedule the repair. You have to make sure the phone number on file is correct. In my case they only called once, but I was able to call back. The scheduling during COVID presented an opportunity for myself to repair this on my own or wait for weeks. The tech was accommodating in communicating that if I ran into any issue to call him direct. Thanks to your videos and videos similar, it makes it easy to repair most of the issues on these machines as they are somewhat simple in nature. I would agree that in these days of many different app’s to choose from , a simple treadmill with just an iPad holder is much better to deal with. I have not experienced other manufacturers service and support, but would hone in on that aspect in the future.

The only thing I've noticed is that when I run incline runs (like mountains etc..) that the board has to be recalibrated after my run because it won't return to center. Also for some reason, my X22i starts in administrator mode, not really sure why.

I love the outlook of their products. It's appealing and it makes you want to get one. However, I did days of research, browsing customers' feedback extensively and the verdict is always the same: very high chance that parts and especially core parts break. Coupled with an irresponsible behavior from the company regarding warranty services. All in all, why wasting cash. Let's keep looking. If you guys have a reco of great treadmill, please let me know.

The same exact thing happened to me, except that it was nonfunctioning right out of the box. If I either paused the workout, attempted a second workout, or accidentally knocked the red emergency stop button off, the belt would never move again. It took months of battles to get them to send me a replacement controller even though I had clearly documented the issues with them at the beginning under their warranty. Unfortunately, ICON owns both Nordictrack and Proform, and their customer service sucks.

I will admit that your correct with the issue. Thanks goodness that I had the warranty and I stayed in reasonable distance that they had a qualified repair person. It was the motherboard. My treadmill is a Proform, but they’re owned by the same company so I experienced the same issues as you. Incline went out on my year old treadmill (stuck at a -3 decline) and I called them April 1 for help. They sent out a new incline motor, but told me the same thing about watching videos and doing it myself due to COVID. It took the part weeks to arrive, and now I put it in and the part doesn’t work. Now I have to get them to send a new control board. Who knows when that’ll get here.

I had the controller board go out after 2.5 weeks. Same model X22i. They sent me the part butI live alone and with the pandemic I couldn't flip that 300+ lb machine over by myself and I dreaded the thought if the board or another component went out again after my 30 day return window so I bit the bullet and returned it. $250 restocking fee + 10% + 199 shipping not refunded + the money I had to pay someone to assemble it. Sad because when it worked I loved it. But after the belt stopped working I only wanted that POS out of my house. Looking to buy a SOLE treadmill - and yes the SW techs are pretty responsive but customer service for the parts - uh...why such long wait times.

Let me save you a bunch of time. I had this problem twice before. It could be the controller, but first remove the back right panel on the foot board and see if any red/green lights are flashing or solid. If so, your controller is fine. Next, Look in the manual how to loosen the belt (screws on the front). Apply 100% silicone lube ONLY to the black thing under the belt (not the 4 inches closest to the back or front of the machine). Rub it around with your palm to distribute. Be generous. This is a good time to center your belt if it’s off-center. Tighten the belt back again. Walk on it in different places to distribute the lube. For others, if your console suddenly stops working, take off the cosmetic pieces on the right side, pull out the wires that connect the computer part to the screen, disconnect and reconnect carefully, and your screen should start working again.

I bought my x22i 2 years ago. Only used it a few times per month. I turned the power off after every use - was worried about power surges, etc if I left it on. One day recently I turned the power switch on and heard a small pop coming from near the switch. The tread does not move and the incline and screen still work however. I called NT and they were great on the phone, have sent out a motherboard free of charge and it arrived within 2 weeks of my call. However, they said "just watch videos on you tube to replace the board, call us back if you can't figure it out and we will walk you through it". So here I am, searching youtube for videos on how to fix my "Commercial" treadmill that was not used much at all. Customer support also said to lubricate the walking belt and they have sent lube out with the new motherboard. The manual states "never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt". Very confusing. I must say this treadmill is awesome when it works, but I am not pleased that it has stopped working before I have even finished paying it off and now I am required to fix it myself.

I just received and put together my X22i on Sunday Oct 17, 2021. After using it for less than 30 minutes, the incline stopped working. I did get through to tech support quickly and they helped guide me through taking it apart to troubleshoot it. After about an hour on the phone with them working on the treadmill, they diagnosed it as a faulty incline sensor. They are shipping me a new sensor (will take a week+) and like you, I will have to install it myself. So far, I would have to recommend not buying a NordicTrack as it appears they have poor quality and you are required to repair brand new machines on your own. Having spent $3K USD+ on this thing, it is very disappointing.

Purchased the Bike Plus back in June 2021. For the past couple of months I’ve been experiencing pedal crank noise & wobbly handlebar issues. I contacted Peleton tech support, sent them uploaded videos and I was told that replacement parts were going to be ordered and shipped directly to me, a third party vendor is going to contact me to schedule an appointment to replace the parts. Frankly, I didn’t spend nearly $3K for the bike & extended warranty to have a third party vendor come out to troubleshoot. I’m not too happy about that. It makes me feel like PELETON is no different than Nordictrack. So keep that in mind before you spend your hard earned money.

Nordictrack over here in the uk are just as useless . But over here by law if the fault occurs in the first 30 days we can demand a full refund at no cost to ourselves but if it’s after 30 days we have to give the manufacturer the opportunity to repair or replace the item within a reasonable time and it is still under warranty. I’ve just had a full refund after waiting 6 weeks for my bike to be repaired.

I’ve been back and forth with Icon- the manufacturer. They have very responsive email folks and had me go through diagnosis. Agree this is a bad item to purchase because it’s so big and this repair isn’t doable for most people. They are sending me the motor as well. I’ll probably be able to do it but would be a $3,000 paperweight if they didn’t send it.
UPDATE 3/22/2021: icon sent a replacement motor and a technician to repair the machine and it works perfectly. He said he doesn’t have many issues with them. So just giving some feedback there.

I brought a NordicTrack Commercial Treadmill about 10 years ago. They send parts for me to install, I didn't mind replacing parts myself even during onsite warranty. Other times they also send a service person to do the repairs under warranty. The good thing buying from Costco is they tack it back anytime but I'm not going to carry that heavy machine onto my truck. One caution, don't put the thing so close to the wall. Allow at least 3' or whatever is recommended else you end up as grind meat in case you fall.
