  • I'll show you how to adjust your hydraulic valves or lifters the easy way! This is a very easy method that never fails. This valve adjustment technique works on essentially any engine with a hydraulic flat tappet or roller lifter. It's not make specific and will work on Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, etc.

    Finally, a how to video using layman's terms. Everyone else wants to get all technical and make this a thousand times more difficult than it really is. I tried their way and I still had clatter. Tried this way and just kept going thru until they were tight.

      @@lacidrainl5192 I still had issues. I finally realized I needed to ditch the clapped out roller tip rockers that previous owner installed and replace with factory stamped ones. Also put in the new push rods that came with the kit. All is good now. This channel has given me so much more confidence to get in there and tackle stuff I used to shy away from.

    I’ve been watching Derek for years now and went back and watched all the videos he’s posted and honestly he is my favorite Content Creator. No matter what’s going on in the world or in my life anytime I see a video is posted I watch it. I’m not one for wanting to meet those that I enjoy watching because I know they aren’t the same off camera. But It would be an absolute honor to meet Derek. If you see this Derek I am glad to have been apart of your journey and I believe you deserve everything you have and more. You have worked so hard for it. Congratulations on 1.5 Million and many more to come! 🎉🎉

      Brother I feel exactly the same… this dude is a inspiration, I’ve always wanted a son so that I could have a relationship like Derek has with his boys. But I actually just bought a 74 Squarebody k25 camper special with a 383 stroker and a 700R4 and a custom adapted NP205 transfer case on-er and boy I’ll tell you what…. I took her out front of my suburbian household and gave-er a good ol floggin, popped that sucker in two wheel low and roasted the 35” mud terrains and whelp….. I think I collapsed a few lifters and possibly ruined the cam…. She’s a knockin like a good ol Jehovah’s Witness, so I’m watching this here video to get some tech tips cause I’m about to replace all that junk. Thanks to VGG for being the go to! We love you guys!!

    i'm 26 years old and building a 71 vette in London UK, nobody here to show me anything, have to figure it all out myself via the internet, currently trying to diagnose a misfire and want to rule out any valve issues, this video was immensely helpful, thank you Derek!

      @@AppleReviews new coil, wires, msd 6al, holley sniper EFI, i took the valve covers and found some loose rocker arms a few months ago and just tightened the loose ones, so i think that has caused the misfire, now i will set the lash to 0 for all the rockers

      @642lin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      if the valves are to tight will cause a miss also. you can back them off a 1/4 turn and see if that helps. you can also do that with the engine running and if it doesn't make a difference tighten it back where it was, but it gets messy running with the valve covers off.

    Thank you very much for your show. I used to watch only movies but know I find myself watching. I've never been able to work on vehicles. My dad could fix anything on a car. Watching your show I've learned a lot.
    By the way I love VGG hats.

      @@ViceGripGarage you said this will work on any lifter. What about Rhoads lifters?

    • @ViceGripGarage
      @ViceGripGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      I did not say "any lifter". I said, hydraulic lifter, huge difference. The science behind the operation doesn't change with brand name. Its either hydraulic flat tappet, hydralic roller, or its a solid - plain and simple

    Nice method on adjusting valves Derek @ViceGripGarage

  • @Supanova70
    @Supanova70 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    We do it the same way. I would mention your method is great for dry pushrods and lifters. My method for both lubed and dry is up and down movement to get to zero lash. If they are lubed and you spin them you can actually depress the lifter. Hydraulic is so forgiving though. that's my 2cents. Great vid.

  • @darkpassenger7064
    @darkpassenger7064 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The easiest SBC adjustment. Been using that method forever. Works every time. Edit- I was always taught to soak the lifters in oil first. I guess some do it dry. Soaking has always worked for me.

    • @Thirdgen83
      @Thirdgen83 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is no reason whatsoever to soak lifters. Put some assembly lube on them as you're dropping them in. Adjust the pre-load.
      Prime the oil pump before initial start-up.
