Congratulations! Daryl hall and John Oates. Boy, it was long overdue. How could the whole world not recognize your decades of AMAZING talent? .....Such living LEGENDS!
Daryl Hall: Speaking of Philadelphia....you know, I did some research....you know we're the only homegrown Philadelphia band that has been put into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...you guys know that? You know, I'm not saying that because I'm proud of that...I'm saying that cause it's FUCKED UP. What happened to TODD RUNDGREN, THE STYLISTICS and THE DELFONICS, HAROLD MELVIN & THE BLUE NOTES, LENNY BARRY, CHUBBY CHECKER????...How 'bout the biggest single in the history of the WORLD?....Chubby Checker...why isn't he in here, huh? You guys tell me. Alright? So, I'm calling everybody OUT. There better be more PHILADELPHIA artists in this place, ok? Alright, that's all I got to say. And I want to go play.
@@carolonal980 Absolutely, it's insane that the Philadelphia Sound hasn't been recognized by the H.O.F. That's a lack of acknowledging a large and amazing legacy of the 60's and 70's. Damn!
Preach It Baby! I grew up on so many of these Acts. Sara Smile was next to Baby Come Back by Player (That Ronn Moss was in before playing Ridge Forrester #1) on The Bold & The Beautiful and Ambrosia's "How Much I Feel" one of the very few Songs by A White Artist played on a R & B Station in Ohio.
"Luckily for you, there's only two of us." I was there. That was a great moment when John said that b/c we were all SO restless and pissed about how long the E-Street Band droned on and on....no one cared about all 47 members! Daryl's tantrum was EPIC when the sound system failed ONLY during their performance. Great evening!
@@mikestevenson576 I went to this year's induction ceremony, as well. Wish I could post a pic here lol...when I saw the 2014 Induction display in the RnR HoF Museum, I took a pic of me flipping the bird to the E-Street Band...and KISS. I'm still SO pissed we missed out on a super jam of Nirvana + Hall n Oates b/c of those putzes.
Lived in Philly for years....and have seen a zillion h and o shows. One of the best of all was a DH solo show at The Keswick Theatre in my neighborhood, Glenside. Just walked over, ate at an outdoor cafe and sat in first row for Daryl accoustic. Just amazing.
Used to think they were a bit cheesy. Probably turned off by their 80's look and too much airplay. But more fool me. They are effing awesome. I've really grown into them over the last few years (via Daryl's House). SO many great songs. SO many hits. SO great live. And true pro.s. Congrats, boys. Should've happened about twenty years earlier.
@@bigtwit799I don't know if best is the right word. They should get credit for evolving with the times and becoming pop icons in the 80's. They had so many beautifully produced and timeless anthems in the 80's. The staying power of those songs is impressive. This hipster shit about success being bad is cringe. There are a lot of successful musicians that happen to be very good at their jobs.
Glad to see the guys finally get in. I was there too but sitting more off to the side so nice to see this from a front point. Go Daryl for telling it like it is and great that he mentioned my other hero Todd Rundgren as well. At least they brought the vibe back up in the room after all the overly long speeches of the E Street Band. Thanks for sharing this.

Daryl and John are simply the greatest. I'm glad to be born in 1968 because I remember all of Hall & Oates songs when they first made it to our FM radios. Daryl always did look good with shades on. People can't recognize good talent. It's all about the looks, T&A and controversy. Talent those days was genuine while the singers of today use methods to enhance and improve their singing such as Britney Spears and Katy Perry. Everyone can be a talentless celebrity today like Kim Kardashian but in those days you earned the right to be a star by true talent and it didn't matter what they looked like. True, it doesn't hurt to look at someone physically pleasing but, without a doubt, I'd choose to be entertained by someone who can act and sing over the other.
John Oates should be thanking Daryl Hall most of all, without his voice and his songwriting he would have never been. This is long overdue, and everyone should be watching Live from Daryl's House on the internet or Paladia

I'm well aware of the 25 yr rule.Hall and Oates first single was released in 1976.So they've been eligible since 2001.
