Addendum-Adding PB Blaster for 15 minutes to the sensors before removing it really helps it to come of easier. Thanks for the Video F Mcmanus, very helpful.
I got a check engine light. When I read the code with a code reader I believe it said up stream ox sensor. Did not notice any difference in drivability
One question, could you help me with the part number for an oxygen sensor (upstream / before the catalytic converter) of an S40 Volvo 2005, 2.5L motor, please? Thank you in advance.
Orange warning light on dashboard, then test with a OBD scanner and get the error code, example: "bank 1 too rich".(note it might be other reasons as well, faulty ignition plugs etc).
Thanks for taking the time to make this. I have a "left bank sensor" warning and my check engine light keeps coming on and off and the car will hesitate from time to time. I think im due for both sensors replaced. How did you know the upstream was bad and the read sensor was good?
usparts.volvocars.com/p/Volvo_2010_XC60/Oxygen-Sensor/42800150/30774757.html There is a diagram 2 sensors one on either side of catalytic converter www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0420-obd-ii-trouble-code-catalyst-system-efficiency-below-threshold-bank-1-by-jamahl-walker The second link describes possible fixes for p0420. good luck hope this helps .
Bank 1 I believe is upstream (before the catalytic converter) I think you will find it more efficient to use google to answer your questions. I don’t own a Volvo anymore. When you ask me a question I google it and then give you the answer. Good luck
Becca DeMuth Google ,oxygen sensor removal tool . Amazon,or if you need it now . Napa ,autozone, harbor freight ,most auto parts stores but will be more pricy. Cheers
It was the upstream ,before the catalytic converter. The upstream oxygen sensor is situated before the catalytic converter whereas the downstream oxygen sensor is located after the catalytic converter.
Can you check my video about my Volvo. You mention flat line. Does the upstream was 1volt? And does not fluctuate like a normal oxygen sensor. I guess your is going up and down mine is flat line and the down stream has a wave
Hello how are you, very good video, could you help me by sending me the oxygen sensor position of Volvo xc90 year 2004, thank you very much, muy fron is Chile

I'm not a volvo tech. that was my sons car and he is off to collage so I can't even take a look at his good luck. if you do find it take it with u to parts store I had a hard time getting the right one....
I have only done a few videos with the hope of helping someone . I am not a pro TH-camr and have never received a penny for any of my videos. If you feel I left something important out , why don’t you post a video and add too the knowledge base? I think you will find video taping while you try to fix something is not as easy as some people make it look. Hope you got yours taken care of nothing worse than being at the mercy of someone else fixing your car. Cheers

Thanks for this. You have convinced me to just take my Volvo to the mechanic and to NOT try and so this myself!! Much appreciated.

Seems you change the downsteam not the upstream under the exhost

Daniel .Coching Hi Daniel wish I could help you .I made that video about 3 years ago and I just can't remember . Try Mathews Volvo site.
2 ox sensors one up stream and the 2nd downstream of the catalytic converter. When in doubt ask the google 😀
BOSCH 17070 for 2001-3 Volvo S60 2.4T is cheeper - remember Volvo only acknowledge BOSCH aftermarket Wideband sensors as compatible
Is this the same as a Volvo Air Fuel Ratio Sensor
From what I can tell it appears to be the same thing.Try Google the part or go on rock auto and see if it comes up as same part number. Good luck
I’m sorry , I do not have any info on the xc90, best of luck
I’m sorry I did that video a while back and no longer own the car. Try going on rock auto website they may be able to help you

Not my intention to scare u away from it. I can understand , I just hate to give my local Volvo dealer one thin dime...... Good luck

The hardest part of this job is removing the clip which you chose not to show
