Fascinating stuff! Right from Jake Sisko's "The Dominion War; Trials and Triumphs" the TIME LIFE Holoseries, 2413 CE. It even has the obligatory Recieved Pronunciation-accented docu-series narrator!
This reminds me of how in WW2, starting as early as 1943 both the Germans and Japanese repeatedly attempted to make bilateral peace-treaties with various members of the Allies but many of the terms were viewed as unacceptable even without the notion of _"unconditional surrender"_ as such leading to the war to not end until 1945 with total victory for the Allies.
Actually neither Germany or Japan wanted to surrender. Both had cultures that prevented in (in case of Germany, they had the Holocaust going on and couldn't save their regime except by war because of that while Japan had a doctrine of never surrendering and culture focused around it with Samurais historically committing suicide versus surrender).
@@occultatumquaestio5226 they never proposed that. Japan started to make overtures in 1945 but there never was a request from a Cease-Fire by Adolf Hitler towards any of the Allies to my knowledge. German officers went wrong and tried to offer treaties but never did the Nazi government offer anything. Japan only offered a real surrender on August. Even then it was a 4-3 vote with 3 wanting to continue the war even after USSR invasion of Manchuria and Atom Bombs, many wanted to keep fighting.

Venom!! You beautiful bastard! This made my night bro.... thanks. My fellow filthy AMC apes and I are getting ready for battle this week so, it’s nice to relax. P.S. I side with Admiral Jelico and Captain Maxwell on this one.... if the Cardis and the Domi’s want White.... they can get it in the Gamma quadrant!
How have I never noticed before that the Dominion war is much like the Pacific war in WW2. surprise attack on critical base before a huge offensive is launched to take huge amounts of land (Deep space nine and Pearl harbour) keep their enemies on the backfoot for months before a huge counteroffensive cripples them and they are forced to retreat deeper into their captured territory to try and rebuild (Operation return and Midway) continued Kamikaze attacks (Literally the Jem'hadar and Imperial Japanese pilots) most honourably thing you can do is die in battle (Refer to previous answer) Now I notice this I wonder how I missed this in the first place and feel really stupid
I thought the armrest deal went through as the Federation tried to use that time to store up their defenses while using the time to try to convince other powers to side against the Dominion. However, they underestimate the Dominion production capability as the new "Alphas" took to the frontlines, putting the Federation once again on the back foot.
@@venomgeekmedia9886 Maybe, but they need to deal with the Dominion forces dug in Federation space. While supply liens would not be an issue as Starfleet replicators can solve most of them, and the fact Miranda served as the main Starfleet freighters meant they, not a problem. Leaving them to attack shipyards and manufacturing/mining facilities could not be allowed to be attacked. So, I am not sure they could go on the offensive if they could not fix highly damage ships or replace losses.

Can someone point out where Trill is on this map?? I feel like I’ve scanned the complete map several times but I can’t find it and I thought it was closer to cardassian space than earth…anyone?

Many IRL comparisons to this, the dominion just wanted to call a ceasefire so they could rearm.
Isn't operation pathfinder when Starfleet is trying to communicate with and recover Voyager?
Outstanding work as usual; great job of covering the political aspect of the war.

Yes spoilers I guess but the federation probably should have gone on the offensive while the dominion was licking its wounds
