Amazing race, Sam. toooons of fun. what an amazing machines these caddies are! We were spinning a lot on the wet side of the tracks on the digs, but the caddie seems to have what it takes! I'd get one of those CT5Vs anytime!! I wish we could've filmed a dig switching lanes. Caddie seemed to have better traction there, but I guess that's what all is about: Real World Evidence... Thanks a lot for having us there.
God...your comment hits so hard, the TLX Type S is indeed good for laughs...makes me cry I used to want one so bad, until it actually came out and we saw how much Acura fucked up
Thanks for the video. The CT5-V does lose a little bit of recognition because of the Blackwing but is still a great performing vehicle for the price. The Merc is supposed to be a bit quicker than the RWD CT5-V, so the CT5-V having AWD and being right there with the C43 is a testament to how much AWD helps in a dig.
With a starting price 13,000 dollars lower, i would take the Caddy all day long. Nobody has done this test as of yet, AND THIS SEGMENT OF LUXURY SEDANS IS HUGE to the world wide car market folks. I would have wished for a handling test, but it was still very interesting.
You could have configured the exhaust in the CT5-V to be louder. My 2023 has "MY MODE" or "TRACK MODE" where the exhaust is even louder than "V-MODE" In fact I love that it can be controlled, when I'm leaving for work at 7am I keep the exhaust in Tour or Stealth mode until I hit the Parkway then I turn it up! Great car that I really love.
Been shopping cars in this segment, and others, for 7 months. It came down to the C43 being my pick......until I randomly went over to Cadillac. I test drove the 2025 CT5. Nope. Nothing there. They had a 2024 CT5-V sitting on the lot. Test drove that one and within 15 seconds I knew this was the one. Yes, I enjoyed the C43 a lot, but the Caddy as a daily driver has a lot on the Benz. Bought the Caddy about 3 weeks ago. Absolutely zero regrets. For the record, I spent 13 years stationed in Germany. We don't have Autobahns here, so that's not a consideration.
Sam, I think it would be cool if your channel had a baseline comparison car to compete with the newer generation vehicles to help show growth in companies for luxury, performance and tech, for example an older generation mercedes such as an e55 amg to really exploit the capabilities on the new vehicles.
Sam, thanks for the race. I have a new 2024 CT5-V AWD and I'm loving it. It pulls strongly off the line while sounding amazing (in Track mode). BTW, please correct the weight for the AWD CT5-V: it has a curb weight of 4144 (according the GM's fleet order guide) or about 270 lbs MORE than the C43 AMG. Given that weight handicap, the CT5-V did superbly against the much lighter Mercedes. I suspect that the CT5-Vs tranny shifts faster and responds more quickly than the C43, which further explains why the CT5-V kills the C43 on a roll. Sam, did you measure the 1/4 mile times and trap speed for both sedans?
They both had AWD. The CTS had more torque than the C43. But the C43 has a more aggressive shifting which is why over a longer distance, it will catch up to the CTS and then pass it.
One of my favourite parts of these drag races is the way Sam hilariously over explains how to do a roll race. And I mean that from the best place. I really enjoy your channel brother and it’s great to see your success!!
I need them not to screw up because it costs me tons of money per minute to rent that place. And also, some people get over-excited and mess up. We do many roll races to get it right. Cheers
To be fair unless you do street racing the chances you’re familiar with roll racing is pretty low. I read “3 honks from a roll” by Madman back in the day… taught me everything I needed to know.
love the Merc but i would love love to get my hands on a very hard to find V, Blackwings and 2.0t are everywhere, the V is the goldy locks not too much or too little its just right
Good race, the CT5-V is underappreciated in this segment. On paper you'd think the C43 would win the drag race. I wonder if the condition of those tires made the difference.
Tires on the C43 are nearly brand new (I'm the owner). if you look closer, i was spinning sideways on all the attempts as I had the wet side of the track. we had tons of fun. We tried an unofficial run after the filming switching lanes and I got better traction and the result was similar to the roll race (the C43 came ahead by 1/2 a car length). I'm not saying the caddy is bad or slow, totally opposite. I'd get one of those now instead of the C43. they are amazing and quick!
@@mauriciomorales8863thanks. And ideally there should be at least a 2nd drag race with lanes swapped to account for track conditions. Edmunds does this.
