Mercedes has lost its mind in the last few years: not only the huge prices increase but also the design of the newer models are actually less attractive than the previous generations. Very curious to see how this will sustain economically for them.
they will be fine.... Mercedes brand is not having any issues selling new cars at all.. I know this because trying to find certain cars new is nearly impossible, so I bought the same car 1-2years used.
The correct customer response is to buy nothing until the manufacturers start to be sensible. The prices are simply ridiculous. No one needs to buy one, the second hand cars will struggle on absolutely fine until they stop sniffing the glue.
It was exactly the same in Australia. I traded in, at a Merc dealer, a 3 year old A35 in the second half of 2022 and got about 5 grand (AUD) less than what I paid for it new. A new A45S was about $106K when I paid my deposit in 2022 and now the 2023 FL is about $130K. A 24 grand increase! Although because Merc Australia missed so many promised delivery dates they agreed to accept the 2022 price for the FL 2023 model that I eventually got. So a nice win in the end that I’m told was a rarity. Cheers mate
I'm deciding between a C43 and M340i right now. I would never buy it new with those prices, but the dealership is selling a 2023 C43 with 9,000 miles as a CPO for only $58,000 -- it's fully loaded and Pinnacle line (MSRP was $72,000). It seems like an excellent deal to me.
Second comment focusing on the car: the A45S, C43, CLA45S, GLA45S and C63S all use the same hand built AMG 4 cylinder M139 petrol engine with various tweaks and/or electric motor bolted on. It largely comes down to a matter of styling/budget rather than distinctly different choices under the bonnet.
C43 & C63 are flopping for another reason .......4 cylinders !!! I bought my silver 4dr 2020 C43 V6 (9k miles) secondhand from a dealer unfortunately when prices were high in Nov 22 but it did mean I only lost £500 on my low mileage Golf R I had owned almost 3 years ! Price of Merc I paid was only 10k cheaper than list, for my 2 yr 8 month old car. So took a big knock in depreciation. Only done 16k miles now as brought out occasionally for fun and love it though.
Hi Ted So far car has been great. Only problem I have had a year ago is cooling fan kept coming on after each journey and fuel consumption not good then. Journey could be 3miles and very cold weather ! After a few months and one long journey of 100 miles problem went away. Must have been too short a runs with exhaust open so soot wasn’t burning off Cat I was told. Car is amazing, fast and yet safe with 4 wheel drive. Economy amazing too. Regulary see 33mpg to 37mpg in summer on a cruise if driven sensibly. 9 speed gearbox keeps revs low, barely over tickover at 40mphish. People say how good BMW 340i is. Yes B58 engine great but 3 series are common and in my mind not as good looking.

You are absolutely right on price for new cars. Unless you have to have a color or specific options you have to understand first and second year of depreciation are going to kill you. It’s true you don’t know the history but the car will still be under warranty if it’s a year old and even if the car was over 3 years old and out of warranty if you buy a used AMG from a Mercedes dealer you get a free 2 year warranty which is nice. So it’s still quite low risk.

Quick question, the white c43 you priced up, was it a private ex owner, or was it an ex demonstrator?, I'm currently looking at A45S AMG's they're around 64k for a new one, but a 6 months old ex demonstrator with less than 1k miles is 50 - 54k ish, this will probably be the biggest purchase I have ever made except for a house, I have been watching prices for months, A35 AMG's have recently been reduced 3k from new, I'm waiting for new prices on the A45S AMG to fall but no sign yet.
Hey, I’m not sure I think it may have been an ex demo. There were many previously privately owned ones up for 50k though too. 50k seems to be the the price if you want one of the new C43s under a year old. Since the a45s recently had a facelift the new prices will be stable for a little while then better deals might come up. They are good value used though.
@MrSlpierce I think a 1 owner private is better than a demo if I had to choose. Demos are used to showcase the cars so they have sometimes been driven by lots of different people, you just never know. Some are great and just driven by 1 employee though. Like you say too I don’t think the engine gets ran in properly on a demo.
To be honest, £100K seems affordable like us Asians. Here in Malaysia, a brand new CLA 45 AMG costs around RM520K, which is a ridiculously high price. You're fortunate to have the option of driving good cars within the range of £40K to £100K.
While I appreciate the comment I think you may have missed the point of was trying to make. It’s not that I’m mad that it’s more expensive than the old one for any personal reasons. I’m constructively criticising the increase in price and where it falls in the market. Like I said I like the car but I don’t think it’s as good value as the old one was which is an important factor when reviewing it.
Agreed with B58 engine. Great engine. However 3 series body so boring and worse still all BMWs have awful Speedo /rev counters design compared to Merc. I have always loved BMW 140i and when I stupidly sold my lovely White Golf R, instead went for a 2020 Merc Silver 4dr C43 V6 just for the sound which is incredible compared to even 140i which I still love (after having a 130i b4 Golf) I love the shape of latest C43 more than mine, just a pity it doesn’t have V6 still !

@@ABAUTOAMG What's everyone's thoughts on ex demos with low mileage, I worry if they haven't been run in properly?
@MrSlpierce I think a 1 owner private is better than a demo if I had to choose. Demos are used to showcase the cars so they have sometimes been driven by lots of different people, you just never know. Some are great and just driven by 1 employee though. Like you say too I don’t think the engine gets ran in properly on a demo.
Was looking for either a 23 cla45s next or a 22 c43 which do you reckon I should go for
Can’t go wrong with either! Both are great. The c43 is more comfortable and refined while the 45s is a bit more sporty.
Won’t let my wife or son go on it let alone anyone else !!! Car isn’t used much with 16k miles. Bit of a toy !
To be honest, £100K seems affordable like us Asians. Here in Malaysia, a brand new CLA 45 AMG costs around RM520K, which is a ridiculously high price. You're fortunate to have the option of driving good cars within the range of £40K to £100K.
1998 was the first c43 i think.
They call it mild hybrid but its not a hybrid. It doesn't have an electric drive train at all. Its fake.
test drive a new one go back the following day and its used lol
Renault engines..why not buy a renault..
People do I have to have other opinions other than oh my God everything Mercedes shits out is good, they’re totally ruining the brand
to be honest i love the new c43
It’s a great car :)
2/3 of the video is just complaining about the price… if u don’t have money for it don’t buy it simple
Imagine spending 70k on a 4 banger 😂🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Will watch some of these videos before bed, absolute snooze fest 😂
Sweet dreams I guess! 😅
@@ABAUTOAMGhe’s waffling mate excellent video
M340 is faster than it and cheaper. Only goons will buy c43. N bmw has the legendary b58 engine. We hv not touch on the M3 yet
