Alvin Lee was rated the fastest guitar in Woodstock for a reason...!!!!!!
There are faster jimmy page led zeppelin Blackmore deep purple
He was definitely one of the fastest I had most of his albums at one time but my ex refused to give them back to me.
He wa😮s the fastest onl
Blackmore came close
@@georgeperikleous5031 Hey gobstopper, was zeppelin, blackmore, purple, or page at Woodstock?
Ten Years After stole the show at Woodstock, and this song is the reason. I can still see Leo pounding on his bass.
They did steal the show and then someone probably stole their money.
Well, there was Jimi. But ya cant mention Jimi, Clapton, etc. without mentioning Alvin. Yes, I know Clapton didnt play at Woodstock
Did he always play a double neck bass? That thing must have weighed a ton
Yeah Leo was a memorable vision. Mick playing the doubleneck also
Fair play to the drummer, kept the whole thing flowing, along with the bass player, TEAMWORK at its best!
They were Tight
THAT'S HIS JOB , TO KEEP THE BEAT !
The bass player was killing it too! 💓
Learned it by putting the record on 16

This whole generation of musicians have no equals today. They were talented. Im so glad that i grew up in the 1960"s because this music is Rock and Roll turn it up to 10+1
I agree with you.
We definitely were musically blessed growing up.
I know, I am approaching 74 in 2022. Saw TWA at the Albert Hall in London I think 1968 ish. Supported by a band called 'Clouds' Then I was at the 1970 IOW festival for 5 days. TYA were top band on Sat. evening. I have something that the kids today could only dream of! The poor sods think oasis & take that have talent.
I agree that the music mostly was better but to tell the truth the rock & roll bands played a lot of covers and mostly from southern blues or folk songs, today most rock & roll bands write and arrange all there songs themselves alot even doing most of the producing and engineering of course today's artist have more freedom compared to past artist that being said this is still my favorite generation of music Alvin Lee is a beast
Totally agree
I'm 70 now. Listening to music like this I'm 17 again. When we were both in our prime!

Alvin Lee is superb! 10 years after Woodstock and he was still burnig down the house.
I saw him in a club in '83 and he and his were specTACular !n fact, he played 2! sets that night and BOTH were spectacular !
A fine example of pure, raw, old time rock n roll!!!
ALVIN LEE WAS and TODAY IS THE BEST!!! WELCOME FROM POLAND.

I saw Ten Years After in concert back in the early '70s. They were RED hot that night and brought the house down. Just crank up the volume 10X Karl
@karlfisher1864 wow, lucky. They've been my favorite band for years.
Alvin Lee - a God in Guitar and Rock. Rest in Peace
I couldn't agree more. I had the unbelievable experience of going to the infamous Woodstock festival when I was just 16. I was living in NJ, and still, Everybody was trying to find their way if they could. The NY Thruway was closed. Cars were piled on top of one another like toys. Alvin Lee, performed this song on that stage and I will never forget it. It was 1969 and I am so lucky, if not blessed to have been there . The entire experience, changed my life forever!!!
I was 16 when I gave him a bunch of flowers on the stage after a concert in Darmstadt, Germany. He gave me a hug and I did not wash for a whole week!
I was there also at Bethel with my good friend Steve and we are still best friends and reminisce about Woodstock often. Going Home with Alvin and Ten Years After is certainly one of the iconic songs of the Festival. We were 18 years old and the memories still last our lifetime!
That opening riff is iconic, and then nothing but hard driving blues. It's awesome. I feel bad for kids growing up listening to crap made with drum machines, synthesized bass and no guitars at all. That's probably why Gen-z is so unhappy, they don't have rock and roll.
No musicians. Kids are dumb
This guy is deff on the top line of the greatest guitarist of our time.
I'll never tire of this! rip Alvin Lee
Why isnt this group in the rock and roll hall of fame, something is not right, Alvin is awesome, rock on!
Ten Years After Greatest Hits......A MUST HAVE for R&R enthusiasts young, old and in between!
One of the greatest guitarists of all time
Another one is Lory Gallagher ... imo
@@tanapatpeemanee1230 Rory...
yeeaaah bro. Alvin Lee is the most greater guitar hero forever
So underrated....
Yup. Respect
such an under rated guitarist. he was an absolute monster.
Seen him n he rocked my world ❤
Alvin Lee had the juice! No one can match his speed. And he hits every note.
No way he hits every note ... Lol. I'm listening and he don't. And I love it. Almost human thank God
FAST AND GREAT 👍
How do you think Eric Clapton got the name slow hand?
Loved his tribute to 1950s blues.
The took the song of the original artist, the Hellacopters and made it a worldwide hit.
If this song didn't do something for ya, it is a sad day indeed
Alvin Lee is THE REASON i learned to play guitar! After watching him play at Woodstock (the movie only, unfortunately), I instantly became a lifelong fan. I think the thing that lets Ten Years After down is their lyrics. The music is GREAT, the players were all GREAT. I still consider Alvin Lee to be my musical idol, and miss him dearly. I took it pretty hard when I heard he passed. One of my favorite songs by TYA = "Help Me" from their live album. Great performance.
Ten Years After is my favorite Blues Rock group of ALL TIME. Alvin Lee my favorite guitarist of ALL TIME. I was fortunate enough to c the original Ten Years After 6 times and Alvin 4 times without Ten Years After. The first time I saw them was on April 4th 1970 at the Capitol Theater in Portchester NY. Scott Muni the Legendary DJ for WNEW-FM introduced them. He was telling us of their performance at WOODSTOCK and go c the movie. But this line I'll never forget. "AND HERE THEY ARE THE GROUP THAT TORE UP WOODSTOCK TEN YEARS AFTER". At 18 that made a big IMPRESSION ON ME. They opened up with Love Like A Man. Finished with I'm Going Home. Then for their encore did the best version of Sweet Little Sixteen. It is to this day a night I'll never forget. The best version of Help Me is from the album Live At The Fillmore East from 1970.
Loved Alvin too. Give a listen to Alvin Lee's "Bluest Blues" featuring his future bandmate George Harrison. Masterpiece.
How did you not fall for the bass player in that Woodstock set? Looked like he was playing for his life. Ten Years After definitely one of my favorite bands back then and Alvin Lee is the reason I started using head. Didn’t have to hear ‘TURN THAT DOWN’ from my mom.
@@kge420Right on sister
Probably the best live performance at Woodstock.
Si... En calidad musical, en el sonido, un cantante mas maduro, afinado y sobretodo rítmicamente mucho mejor, pero el otro fue mas mediático.
Legendary!!!! Never Ever Ever To Be Repeated Again!!!!... Rest In Peace Alvin Lee. You made my life a better place.
Neighbors called the police.
Said I was playing "10 y a" too loud.
Police arrested the neighbors.
Improved mine quite a bit. Love that my generation’s music was the best❣️

Alvin Lee most underrated guitarist in the world period. Here you go I rest my case.
There's that underrated comment again. If he was so underrated then why has he sold millions of records?
@@gogoyubari366 it's simple: how often do you hear Alvin's name mentioned when people talk about great blues and rock guitarists? You hear Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray, but you rarely hear Alvin's name. He and Rory Gallagher should be the first mentioned when people talk about amazing guitarists
@@RoryGFan-39 you have to add Johnny Winter
@@RoryGFan-39 but you dont hear Buggs Henderson and JJ kale either despite the fact they were great. It comes down to how many popular pieces of music they put out, and despite a very long career and a great deal of talent most people dont recall Creeklewood green. They remember soliet green but not Cricklewood. And bands that were on their heyday in the early 70s, unless they made the midnight special, or Don Kirshners rock concert there is likely very little video and video keeps you relevant much longer than audio only.

OMG. Unbelievable .. I have listened to this amazing song 1000 times.
This is the first time that I see a live performance of it.
Insane!
Same here
Alvin did not hold anything back. He just went for it. Saw him in the Alvin Lee Band with Mick Taylor in a Champaign Illinois music/bar in the 80's. Nice joint. Also saw Kim Simmons and Savoy Brown there. I somehow missed Leslie West and Mountain. My bad.

One of the greatest roll and roll songs of all time. I was hooked on it since Woodstock
It's a medley of some songs of the 50ies
This got me through Navy boot camp October to December 1970. Still one of my favorites. Saw TYA live many times over the years.
Alvin is the best ever!!!!!!! Will never forget him!!!!!!!!
Privileged enough to have seen them live. Up close, Alvin was so damn fast…he was wearing blue suede clog’s. Not that matters, just was that close. Unbelievable concert.
I was also privileged to see them live. Amazing
I'm sure that was a great memory for you. Keep On Rocking
I was that close to him when I seen them early 70's.
This is Rock.
Ayer hoy mañana y siempre.
CLASSIC FOREVER.
What a great performer and a great song.
So underrated as a guitarist!
Fast and accurate
Never saw anyone play this
Tune! Why? Because they cant !
Alvin Lee was definitely not underrated!! Maybe if you were a child of the 70’s you’d word that much differently ❤️
In my little click, he was The Best. I've always loved Alvin Lee & TYA!! RIP guitar man. You were amazing!!!
Alvin Lee was tremendous. His music is part of my soul.R.I.P.
I used to listen to him religiously. Discovered him from a CT guy while in USAF in NM back in '70s.
Ça a toujours était un de mes groupes préférés Alvin tenait le groupe à bout de bras malgré tout un peu mal connu mais à cette époque là c était une dinguerie de préférer tels où tels groupe car franchement on avait le choix Amitiés du nord de la france
The many faces of a guitarist, lol. One of the great ones. When the subject of guitars come up, Alvin Lee should be at the top.
Equal as... Lory Gallagher ..the same league .
him1977 Dallas Texas. Jammed at the Convention Center. Blew everyone away. We loved him then and we love him now (2020). God rest is soul. Also Gary Moore, SRV, and I will want to also say Prince. I'm a Texas rocker (63) but I will say that Prince was among one of the best of all time.
This is an all time great classic rock and roll song with raw guitar, lyrics and talent. It was also played at Woodstock that was one of the best songs there, along with Sly and Family Stone’s I want To take you higher.
Bien sur vitales pour la suite 49 3
Saw him do this song as part of their set at Woodstock, NY in 1969. He was fantastic. I never understood why Alvin Lee never became known to a larger audience.
Crappy management and a very weak label. He was as good a guitarist as it gets in rock or blues. TYA "Recorded Live" ia Top 5 Live LP of all time..
@@jaysantos536 Well, it is so odd that Alvin Lee never or rarely mentioned as one of the guitar greats.
@@dr.barrycohn5461 He is by other guitarists and that's what matters, not some goofy magazine like Rolling Stone or the idiots that run the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Same with Rory Gallagher. Everybody has heard of Brian May and what a great guitarist, he is right? Well guess who was his PRIMARY guitar idol growing up? Rory freaking Gallagher...

We are so damn lucky to know his music his ability to rip it up at the drop of a hat! A+ ! Alvin you were an animal! Thanks Alvin RIP
During the veitnam years 67, 68 this is one song , that whatever I'm doing stops.
The fastest guitarist in the west and the world. A true rock and blues performer.❤ RIP Alvin 😢
And can you believe he didn't make the Rolling Stone magazine top 100. I read the list definitely top 10.
For my money, the best live performance of the entire 69' Woodstock Festival was Alvin Lee and Ten Years After's performance of "I'm Going Home" played at 100MPH on steroids! That performance busted the whole festival wide open!
My favorite act at Woodstock too! Alvin means every note he plays. Passion pouring from him. Gives me chills.
Yes, I!
Damn- I COULDN'T AGREE MORE!!!
Totally agree!!! Sly and Family Stone also put on a great show. "I want to take you higher" is my second Woodstock favorite.
and walks off the Stage with a Juicy Watermelon like the Fat Rockin' Grooves, they Jammed out.
Alvin Lee was The Best. Nuff said.
Good on ya Cyndy.
Yes thats right Alvin Lee is the One and Only for all times R.I.P.

I saw the movie back in the day wood stock I thought this song stole the show .
Neighbors called the police.
Said I was playing "10 y a" too loud.
Police arrested the neighbors.
He was, the fastest guitarist, ever.
I was thinking the same, way fast
Back in the day when I was in high school (graduated 70) Alvin Lee, Frank Zappa and Johnny Winters were my top guys as far a speed goes. But Hendrix? Another story and of course there was Jimmy Page.
I think Les Paul might have argued that point!
@robmontier3770 I reckon Jerry Reed and Roy Clark could to.
Still to this day one of the greatest of all time !

Alvin Lee was a legend and I remember this setting with Ten years later. I also was very impressed with this eminente bassplayer Mick Hawksworth. Maybe one of the best I've ever heard!
Torbjørn Anderson some farken monster bass players came out of the UK during that era!
Love Alvin Lee and big red 🎸 he’s like lightning in a darn bottle…Omg fantastic!!! 💃
For years after I saw this, I didn't just go home, I went home to see my baby. But Steve you don't even have a girlfriend, lives permanently in my noggin along with Rock and Roll Music To The World, which also showed how good Alvin's vocals were, bring back the seventies.
I was at this show with my older brother and remember it like it was yesterday.
The fullness in sound of three of them was as big as a 5 piece band.
They were this high energy throughout the show and I think this was the last song of the set.
Everyone left walking out after the show in a daze...
