73 here still dancing and rocking...forever....
At 67 years old and I am still listening to rock and roll. I miss the guitar and drum solos. I miss the old days with musicians stretching what their instruments were capable of.
Hey Darrell. I'm 68 and still Rock n Rolling!!! Till Death! Awesome Winter Bro,s
Funny I felt compelled to comment, and when I scrolled down to do so, the first one on the list kinda rolls in to what I was thinking. Those Winter's were musical geniuses..... Should that word be geniii? I dont know. Super talent. Sometimes in these live shows, which as far as I know is all that is available, they experimented on stage, sometimes it went too afar afield, in my opinion, but what they did that worked was wide ranging and inventive. True musicians those guys.
Gotcha Beat ! I’m 70 Yrs old ! And I still dig Rock & Roll !
You kids! ( I trust no one under 68! )
Pearl jam
I agree. Johnny could pull out so many emotions in each song playing either acoustic or electric instruments. Just straight-up talent and a genuine feeling/respect for the music he was playing. I'm 72 and still love it!
I'm a 70 year old New Hampshire music lover and johnie winter is far beyond zztop as the best Texas bluesman ever by a large margin.
Johnny SRV and today Ally Veneble. Period.
Why do they have to be better, ?
Not a contest
I love the way Johnny sings, too. No one ever mentions his cool intonation with his vocals. He’s Splendid!!
I am 64 years old ang a child of the 60 ,'s 70's era... I am still rocking with all the best of rock n roll there is!!! May it be classic, hard , heavy metal or country,, evem pop rock , as long as it make me smile and reminisce my youth... Long live rock n roll!!!
Old Rock and roll will never be matched
You got that right !!! Me Too . ! If there ever is a time in the future ( which will be about 200 yrs, if we last that long), that music will ever be this good twixt 1955--1997 ( and don't forget "Creed" 2001 & "Jet" 2006. Last of a straight line down from Elvis; Chuck ' and Buddy. !!!!!! I could go on and on, but I like your idea.. ( That's why I won't look in the mirror), then I'm still 19 years old alll day... haha. It's just that the body is worn out. But still functions sometimes.). Like an old Chevy !
I will honestly say I never heard anyone come close to Johnny. Forget beck, Clapton, jimmy page. They coulnt play like Johnny could
To all of us who loved Johnny winter he was never underrated. He was a blessing.RIP man.
THANK YOU! So many people say that JW was underrated, not a fucking chance.
Absolutely right, Shirley. For the connaisseurs he is a hero. ❤😎
Agreed. I loved his speed and variety. He was definitely one of the masters.
Nobody played that 🎸 like Johnny!
I love Johnny Winter, such a cool cat from TXxxx ❤❤❤
From the first time I heard him live in '69, I never could understand why he never received the recognition he deserved! Saw him about half a dozen times up to the early '90s. Edgar was multitalented, but Johnny drew the the serious fans to his shows! RIP Johnny. The world is a very different place without you!
This music will forever triumph over the fake electronics of music today. There's a lot of young talent out there that knows this.
Amen!❤😊
I''m a 66 year old woman who got to see him 3xs. AMAZING, no one like Johnny! RIP, & thank u my friend for all u shared w us..
I 67 years old and I still have listen to this song 🎶 on the Facebook app
I'm going to be 72 in a few weeks and I'm still listening to Johnny Winter, a good ol' Texas boy.
67 here in two weeks and I just bought three JW vinylz on Sunday :)
Awh, man, Gonzo! God bless you in your 70's. I'm close to entering that time myself, and am glad to see both my "elders" and the young kids feel good with Johnny's blues.
@@MrPnew1 Pedro 147 - You got me by 4 years. Hey, maybe sure you listen to Johnny's live version of "It's My Fault". A definitive version of the blues. T.C.
This is all about his wife.
Suzie Q may they. R I. P
is only one person can play johnny be goode better than it's maker...Chuck Berry
If young people today only knew what they were missing.
RIP INTERNALLY LEGEND !
as a 19 year old I wish my generation would appreciate this music more, Absolutely Fuckin Beautiful Mate 🔥
Couldn't said it better.
👏👏 💯% correct ✅
Definitely one of the best. ❤
You're a youngster with excellent taste! I'd be proud to have you for a grandchild.
Johnny Winter one of the most influential guitarists around blues and rock
Love this guy! Definitely underrated!!!
I saw him at a small venue about a year before he died. It was incredible.
there is a video of Johnny playing Johnny be good and a fan throughs a bottle at him, and Johnny took control of the situation and shut the band down and ended the show with some words yeah
Što više riječi to višee želja da se ubijemo. U tu Su zi qu
Saw my mate who first taught me guitar 7 years ago and told me to listen to Johnny Winter and the way he described him in Irish terms he had bad vision but he pluged in to the amp and played to f*** out on the guitar.
I never had the pleasure of playing with Johnny Winter, BUT I did 5 or 6 dates with James Cotton here in Austin, Texas. James and Johnny won a Grammy back in 1971 for best blues album. Love playing the blues with James "Mr. Harp" Cotton. RIP Johnny and James.
I saw JW live many times, in a bar, concert arenas, both Atlanta Pop Festivals. Great player, nice guy in person.
Saw James Cotton Blues Band open for Janis in 69. Another great bluesman!
Dude I met him and saw him play in Orlando Fla about a year before he passed as a guitarist what floored me He sat down the whole time and shredded my brains out RIP
In a venue about 200
@@bobravenscraft5376 Dude, the lost on near-by and near misses of super Dudes is not the issue, life is unfair when Dudes fall into unlit or dark outhouses. So Dude attach an electronic device to track Dudes that trip whilst indisposed. And Dude, by the way keep your brain cells UN-shredded and well lit in certain tunnels.
# I am 70. I saw that guy, in California. Great! Peace ✌️😎👽
Johnny gets into the ZONE , and takes the audience along for the trip- yes he had a way of making true entertainment! 🍄❤️🎸🌿🧘🏼🙏
I've been a Johnny Winter fan for 50 years, but never got to see him live. Hopefully I'll see him for free in heaven. Keep playin that rock and roll.
Aww yeah😊🇦🇺
I've seen Johnny 6 times..I'm 67 yrs. old...Johnny is the very best blues guitarist that will ever have walked on this Earth. I love his "blues soul."
You just don't get the great blues riffs of the legend Johnnie Winters any more. He was one of a kind.
A BEAUTIFUL LOVE SONG.
I think I went from 67 to 17. Great performance!
I miss the good old days when musicians played and sang, not fuck with a sampler or computer! Today's bullshit is just that!! Yeah, I'm a grumpy old bastard just don't try to out rock me, you've already lost. 😎
He was a phenomenal blues man. One of a kind with his lightning licks and scorching phrasing, and that voice! And his brother Edgar is a multi-instrumentalist genius. Talented family.
Johnny Winter...one of the greatest rock n roll angels God ever had. May he rest in peace.
I don't know which Brother I enjoy more!
A lot of talent in these two brothers!awesome
I habe Seen in Bremen Germany 1988 .Great !
Lucky me loads of blues albums growing up and got to see a few live. Australia is harder to see the live gigs.
Johnny Winter had that magic combination of singer performer and unique blues guitar style. There's plenty of guitarists that can throw streams of notes out but they lack soul. Him and Hendrix were right out there. His demise was such a bummer, poor man.
Jhonny Winter is one of the guitarist of all time, A real bluesman from Texas,Amazing riffs magical solos,Rest in peace Jhonny Winter 1944-2014
Alter Krieger OK.
The great part of the internet is reliving those riffs.
No tenía ni idea de que Jhonny Winter hubiera muerto. Que la tierra le acoja con bondad. Proporcionó a quien supo apreciarlo momentos maravillosos.
Yes, a master of Texas blues, my favorite blues- fast!
He was up there with the best but never got the credit he deserved.
I saw a Johnny winner, accompanied by Rick Derringer in Sacramento in concert and then I just saw Johnny winner by himself in concert in Sacramento in the memorial auditorium. I smoked a lot of pot. Great concerts.
Don’t forget he produced muddy waters to his highest ratings
This man is in my top five Guitarists of all time. Not just speed & accuracy of play, but Heart as well. Johnny Winter is the definition of rhythmic blues. FREE
Ditto
And don't forget his brother Edgar. Together they were brilliant, and also Gerry
He's the Guitarists top 5
I mean the guitar players vote johnny up there
they know
The Ultimate Jammer.
I am so lucky I got to see him at the Montreal Forum JUST AMAZING
Saw Johnny so many times I think he played in the jersey area more than anybody.never thought the day would come were I couldn’t see him live anymore
It's a great version of this Rockerbilly classic . Susan M loves Suzi Q. Danke MIG
I saw his brother Edgar Winter play Frankenstein live at Temecula Ball on And Wine Festival..there were maybe 45 people it was a great experience
Saw Edgar Winter at the Cincinnati Gardens in the 70’s. About haflfway through the show Edgar stepped up to the microphone and said we have a little surprise for you all. Stepped back held out his arm and Johnny came on stage shredding his guitar. Fading memory sucks getting old
Johnny winter the best of blues and rock of all time, miss him a lot, RIP
Probably the best to ever play
He could do it all non stop a master so so missed but his music lives on forever love and peace Mr Winter
The first time I saw Johnny was in the early 70s. Drove from Dallas to Ft. Worth to see him but when we got there, we didn't have enough money for the tickets, so I went and panhandled the rest to get in. Saw him the last time a few months before he died.
12:41 J'ai eu la chance d'assister à un concert de Johnny à Paris a La Cigale. C'était extraordinaire. J'ai 69 ans et c'est un immense plaisir de l'écouter. Merci pour cette version de SUZY Q
.
Of the handful of concerts I ever went to, I got to see Johnny winter. In Poughkeepsie, NY in the early eighties. The first thing he said when he took the stage was "we're gonna have a good time tonight, I guarantee it." Then he immediately went to a blistering number and never stopped. RIP Johnny. Truly one of a kind.
All of the above!!
Saw Johnny many times, both in concert venues and local bars....always a great time!!
Seen him at Capitol Theater in Passaic seen everyone of that era including Clapton best I ever saw
@@james-je6cpTo a lot of us he was the best!
I remember seeing this on TV. The crowd wasn't into the blues he was doing and wanted to party. Johnny uttered the immortal words I remember to this day, "You want some rock'n'roll? You want some f*cking rock'n'roll?" (Crowd goes apeshit). "You gotta lotta noise, but you aint got no taste". Priceless!
I thought that he told them to get up off their asses as they won't do it all.
I had oppornutity sawing Johnny Winter on stage, Aix en Provence festival , France, 1970 August third , was "only" 16 1/2 years old, going there with my brother age 18, hitckhike from Normandy to Aix, my first festival, thinking I couldn't have been in Woodstock or Isle of Wight, too young and no money. Fortunately, loving music since 1962, I never stopped seeing live concerts, now again, age 67, and there will be more tomorrow. Enjoy music, peace and love. All, have good health due to what happened today. Kisses. René from Britanny.
This is old school rock n roll ,67 and still rocking...long live rock n roll....R.I.P JOHNNY
He and his brother "WOW" so much talent!!! Most of us from the seventies know these people and their GREAT sound..Listen to Tobacco road-CHILLS!
Gary Johnson both from my hometown! So great! Love Edgar and Johnny
Saw the whole gig live on German TV il April 1979 📺Johnny and the band were on fire h that night🔥The J. Geils Band played first 🎉Rockpalast really was a great show 👍❤️🇫🇷🎶
I saw this live with my dad...Great show
I saw Edgar and Johnny Winter in concert and they were the best concert ever!
Pasty. Saw them at Wiskey Agogo Hollywood. 70,s
One of the best blues-rock players ever. Lightning quick but great phrasing and feel.
👏👏✌️💃
Blues for my ❤️❤️
I wish i had that guitar!! His tone was perfect.
I've been lucky enough to see Johnny Winter play live several times and every time when he had to shut it down, because of time limits, you could tell he did not want to quit playing. He's one of the best of the best!
Lucky you JW won of the best
A great showman!
Classic stuff!
I forgot how creative and inventive he was until recently.
I had 8 track tapes always playing in VW!
Johnny Winter was one of the best, but he never got the recognition he deserved , but he did from his fans let me tell you... They poured in by the thousands to see him play , and that should tell you something !!! He was great !!! Rest In Peace Johnny Winter !!!
he's great white blues man...with soulful blues voice...
💗 💖 💘 💝 💟
Somehow I've always considered Johnny Winter one of the best.
And Suzie Q has been on top of my list.
Some of us have given him his right place among the greatest.
He's immortal now; his music will always remain. Let's celebrate his life 👍.
Bought all Johnny's albums when I was buying albums. TH-cam has afforded us to see these concert videos we'd probably never would have seen. Love this internet. Finally saw Johnny and Edgar at Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival in Ft. Fisher, NC They played through a nor'easter that evening after took sides off of the VIP tent and rigged a wind/rain breaker on the open-sided covered stage nd the show went on. Edgar started with FRANKENSTEIN. Did his set then Johnny scooted out and sat down for his set..then they both did several songs. Troopers in that miserable weather. They were fairly dry...we were soaked. Wish I could post the pics I shot. Front of stage. PSISB&JF was a long running local coastal chamber of commerce event every 2nd weekend in October. Hurricanes since 2016 have put a cancellation damper..move to spring but just not the same. Atlantic Ocean to the east, Cape Fear River to the west. Your sitting on the dry land.
That' s why everybody adored fucking Eric Clapton in those days.
Real players like Winter, Kossoff, Taylor or Buchanan barely got what they deserved.
Probably the best I have ever seen x
I'm 62 and I never realized that He's Amazing
Lived in Beaumont Texas as a child back in the 60's, the Winters were our neighbors, freaking cool, Edgar and Johnny, classy !
Lucky man !
please never disrespect both AS I do KNOW you are cool so write to me sadly END of the June KARIN AND THE BLUES AS ROCK
to R.please let me know if you are still AS me Johnny AS Edgar bless the lot.no Religion..KARIN
@@DeniseSantosdOliveira Took the words right out of my mouth, grew up on him and inspired much of my guitar playing xx
Robert M Did you know Wayne, or Donnie Weathersby?
I am so blessed to have been able to see Johnny Winter live he played so good he broke that damn guitar
I am so blessed, too. You just can't explain to people how great he played.
I was blessed to see Johnny Winter in Atlanta in the 70s. He was so good and rockin so hard he almost slipped off the stage on top of us in the orchestra pit. He rocked right back on the stage and went into one of his infamous guitar solos but did not miss a beat. It was by far one of the best concerts in my life. RIP
Grande Johnny Winter R.I.P.🙏❤️......
I I been playing Johnny since I was in sixth grade . In Corpus Christi he is sitting on the lifeguard chair just listening to Juice Newton
Cannot describe how this makes me feel. Love it.
Pure unadulterated blues. Immortal
For sure makes me feel like I missed out and wish I could teleport into the audience,,,Omg!! 🎉😅
Great Bluesman. I first saw him at Pirates World in Ft. Laud. FL back in the early mid 70s. Awesome live and never relied on studio tricks to make it happen. RIP Johnny and thanks for all the music.
Oh my, I can't get enough of it. Since I lost my husband 44 years or so and my grandchildren and my son and daughter and my brothers and sisters. This song warmed my heart so much, I know all the words. My deceased husband and I would rock all night long and dance and hug and kiss, lots of beautiful wonderful memories thank you Johnny. Thank you Johnny you're awesome and I will listen to this song until I die Bella or Cinderella. God bless our world. 😇❤️🤪
😌😌😌😌😀p BK. I'll be missing you I got to go. 😇💩❤️🤪
Saw Johnny in 1975 at Tempe Stadium Arizona incredible. We miss you RIP. Greg
Mig. I still Jam!! Winter Bro,s!! I'm 68 still Rocking!! Till Death!! Rest in Peace. Johnny.
One HELL of an outdoor concert back in the days when such a thing was possible:
Robin Trower, Johnny & Edgar Winter with Rick Derringer, and Jethro Tull. I even remember most of it.
Somewhere in Florida; bunch of us in an overloaded VW microbus. Those were the days, my friends.
ORANGE BOWL!!!!!!
Love you all who loved them. Johnny and Edger
One of the most incredible artist in the world that so many people don't care about but hello , is he not just wickedly GREAT 👍❤️🎶
❣💘👍✊👏👏👏💘
Great Rockpalast Konzert. 🎸Johnny Winter.
They call him Johnny guitar. In my opinion the best wight blues guitarist ever. 'tis amazing how many blues guitarists have come from Texas
Johnny Winter (R.I.P.) is one of my favourite guitar players and singers of the Rock. I think he is underrated, unfortunately. But to me, his art is immortal. Well done, Johnny!
Sergio Santos Oh no, brother! Every blues fan called his name!
He's hardly ever mentioned when people talk about "Guitar Gods", but he is right up there with Hendrix and SRV. I wouldn't say the same for many players who get all kinds of big props.
ABSOLUTELY AGREE BRO !!! From LIMA PERÚ
Alex the fact you can only pull out srv and hendrix as guitar gods is why theres a problem
@Harry Newman chill bruv look here Robert Johnson
Lemon Jefferson
Willie Mctell
Lightnin Hopkins
Blues covered.
Now blues rock.
Jimmy Hendrix
Rory Gallagher
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Jeff Healey
I'll stop here.
Johnny was the real deal, he had everything, great playing, what a great growl in his voice, heart...
Bought his first record when I was 15. That shit spoke to me then and now👍
No SHIT...what a growl
Aburre la verdad con muchísimos años de guitarrista
Y no es nada esta dentro de lo peorcito
Yeahhh mann I can dig it 🎼
I saw him at a small place in Cincinnati called bogarts in the very early 80’s. I sat about 10 feet in front of him and was in awe the entire night. The man was tearing up sweet papa John, broke his B string, reached up and ripped it off and never missed a note the rest of the song. THATS a guitar player!
todays my 61st birthday, saw him live 44 years ago at a parking-place at Hemmerlein near Nuremburg (went there on a Hercules K50 RLC), besides Wishbone Ash (Rock´n´Roll Wdow) Molly Hatchet (Dreams..., Fall...), Ted Nugent (Stormtroopin´, Cat Scratch Fever, Stranglehold) Despite (sorry) he´s maybe the ... musician ever. I love Suzie Q and Good morning little schoolgirl
This goes out to my father in law may he Rest in Peace ✌️🕊️
Man, I've been listening to Johnny for over forty years now and I'm still totally blown away with his "brilliance" as a guitarist. In my humble opinion, he stands alone with his knowledge and phrasing of "the Blues."
I got to see him 2 years before he died . It was like seeing Jesus preach . He was a fantastic guitar player .
Been listening to Johnny for 50 years, (man am I old or what). I still love to hear him play thanks to TH-cam. He was one of a kind, blues rock. I saw him live but can't recall where, probably the Omni in Atlanta GA circa 1974. RIP to a legend!
Im 67 and this blues sounds awsome rock out with the winter bro 😅😅😊
A reason why i love music.
I only remember listening to Johnny serenade us kids around the Christmas tree in Charlotte as a little girl, ive always knew how incredibly lucky I was. Reading these comments makes me cry. So humbled to call him family.
I’m crying as I watch him. JUST LISTEN TO HIM! 🍀😱
I wish everyone knew what a damn nice and decent human being Johnny was , a gentle kind man . I was blessed to call him a friend and loved the heck outta dat man
Don't worry, no one has forgotten
Lord i remember watching this late night live broadcast of this performance back then in Germany - I was maybe 15 or so and wasn`t allowed to stay up for so long, but i went back to the TV when my parents were asleep and watched the entire performance of Johnny and his band and it remained in my memory until today.
Such a good story. It's coincidental, but I too discovered Johnny at age 15.
Wunderbare Musik...
Seit Jahrzehnte meine Musik...und liebe den Blues...bin zwar ein alter Sack aber diese Musik hält mich jung....DANKE!!!
Johnny Winters definitely one of the most underrated guitars😮😊
What I always loved and admired about Johnny was his playing with sincere feeling. I mean REAL feeling; every time, every song, every note. He simply loved what he did and was a gift to everyone who ever saw him play.
THANK YOU JOHNNY for giving such love to us all!
Agreed.... Many can play fast blues licks but few with the timing and feel of JW. Blues with a feeling.
@@LeftCoast_TomP The truth in what I said could be seen decades after his epically long shows with his band; his brother's band; Rory Gallagher's band and Rick Derringer's band. Johnny was still loving what he did so much, he was stretching the strings on every note & song...he never settled on going through the motions to give a good show and get out. He played with that raw intensity of youth always--and gave his all.
I think I brought my first Johnny Winter Album in 1965 and my favourite track was Good Morning Little Schoolgirl. I was only 16 at the time. I still love him.
Learning the Queens Gambit and playing this groove. Perfect
Seeing Johnny Winter up close just few feet in front of me at Uncle Sam's Niteclub in Buffalo wearing this same hat too was most incredible thing I've ever in lifetime
'75 , Johnny and Edgar in Springfield Mass . Warm up band was Lynyrd Skynyrd . Best show I ever saw .
the one and only: Johnny Winter!
The Beaumont Bad Ass. Johnny was one of a kind..Such a clean player and could slide Sooo Sooo well. RIP.
They are unreal I saw him 74 he is still my hero of all times you can't touch him his brother when comes to talent may johnny rip a ND his brother R/R FOREVER
I Love Susie Q and Johnny Winter.......
For a time, early on, he was real popular, and developed a great following that stayed with him to the end. Judging from the views he gets on the tube, his work will live on, thanks for posting this great tune!
Just another Texas Blues Icon.
Saw him play in a small club in Montreal later in his career. A real player. Wrote him and he sent me a signed pic and guitar pick.
Cool 😊🇦🇺
That was really nice
Nobody did this better,it was meant for him
Ripping and tearing
Saw him on 19th b-day 1979. Excellent!
