The most insane stat for me is 12 playoff runs scoring 40+ points per 100 possessions.

Great reaction. He forgot to mention that even though its easier to score today because of the rules and less a less physical league. Still, NOBODY has had a 3000 point season since Jordan. And he only shot (12) 3 pointers.

And every one of those was to beat the clock. They don't know the stats, but I'd be willing to bet is you removed all of his end of quarter, half, and game 3s he'd be over 40%. He has such a small sample size that if you just took away half court shots it would bump him up 3 or 4 points.

Jordan got more games scoring over 40 than he does scoring less than 20. And he's had 10 100+ offensive rebound seasons something LeBron not sniffing. 10 scoring titles 3 steals titles DPOY 5X MVP 6X Champion 6X Finals MVP 9 all defensive 1st teams an he did all this in 1072 games. What people need to realize is jordan did the bulk of his stats over 11 years. You say how?
One year, he broke his foot, came back at the end of the season only played 17 games. Only 17 games, which did not contribute much to stats at all (he did take them to playoffs vs boston and their 5 hall of famers and dropped that record 63 pts)
The other season he came back late from baseball, ended up only playing 24 games, so that is another season that didn't contribute to his stats LOLOLOL. So , TWO seasons were a wash.
The last two seasons? He came out of retirement after 3-4 years and if he wouldn't have broken his ribs (artest) he would have been even better but again, two season at 39 and 40 years old and actually they were underrated seasons. So if you do want to count his washington seasons, that is fair , but now that is only 13 seasons that he played where the bulk of his stats came from. ONLY 13 SEASONS. Nobody comes close.

Wilt played in an era when there were fewers teams and the NBA was not fully racially integrated yet.
He _did_ play against plumbers. But this means he also won with plumbers too! Even when adjusting for
eras, Wilt's numbers say he was one of the greatest players to ever do it. Top 10 all time for sure.

    • @Banner18Boston

Wilt Chamberlain is barely top 50 in all-time finals PPG. He averages 22 PPG in the playoffs then 18 PPG in the finals. Wilt play outside the regular season got horrible. And he has a losing finals record he's borderline top 10 because his 4 MVPs help his case but his production outside the regular season was outright horrible. Jordan Russell Jabbar Magic Kobe Bird LeBron Duncan Olajuwon Shaq Curry that's 11 players with a great case to be over Wilt because they didn't disappear in the playoffs. I'll put Wilt over Curry but nobody else I mentioned. Shaq and Hakeem Olajuwon are the Greatest centers to perform in the finals Wilt nowhere near that list, Moses Malone had better finals than him.

Wilt played in an era before free agency. If you were on a shitty team there wasn’t shit you could do about it. The Celtics had an overpowered team with 5 hall of famers and the coaches weren’t trading anybody, why would they when they won every year. It’s not Wilts fault he was on a an ass team with no help. The fact that he has as many records as he does when he carried his teams every year is definitely impressive. If he’s not in your 10 ten or I’ll even give you top 15, your crazy.

Wilt was 7’1” and 280 lbs of very athletic muscle. He was an Olympian level athlete setting records in multiple track and field events and could bench near 600 lbs and Arnold Schwarzenegger witnessed him do triceps extensions between 150-175 lbs. He’s on camera blocking the unblockable skyhook from Kareem at least three times.

Wilt actually did play against great competition...keep in mind, he played 45 minutes a game for his career, in an era that played at the fastest pace and wilt played for Eddie gottlieb, who was notorious for having his star players shoot as much as possible...he never could win any championships until he actually dropped his scoring number significantly to be more team friendly.
If there's any slight against wilt, it's that he notoriously played worse in the playoffs than in the regular season nearly every year.

Well, I am going to comment.
LET ME CORRECT YOU YOUNG BUCK: This "plumber" talk about Wilt is some of the most absurd talk that I hear. Wilt was THE MOST ATHLETIC GIANT EVER. He was a track and field star in college. He won the high jump two years in a row. He ran the 880 in under two minutes. Hank Stram, the legendary KC Chiefs' head coach, clocked Wilt @ 4.6 in the 40... with BARE FEET. On top of all of this, he had herculean strength! Nobody could move him. Even 7'2" Artis Gilmore, who is widely considered one of the strongest ever, could do nothing with Wilt. Go read up on what HoFer Bob Lanier said Wilt did to him. Bob was 6'11, and 285 pounds!
Even Joel Embid stated to a teammate that Wilt could have dominated today. What is even more incredible is that Wilt was on CRUISE CONTROL for most of his career.

You need to put some respect on Wilt Chamberlain's name. Don't get it twisted, the NBA was still a PROFESSIONAL sports league with salaries, arenas, office staff, TV deals, and all the rest. He was playing against the best athletes the league could pay for. It is a testament to how physically dominant Wilt was. His competition was NOT a bunch of "plumbers." They were professional athletes. Don't be so quick to repeat the ignorant crap other dummies say online. People don't buy tickets and companies don't pay millions in advertising for plumbers to play basketball.
