Michael Jordan has more series averaging 40 points in the playoffs than every player in NBA history combined. There is a reason nobody ever tries to make the goat debate about playoffs performances😂

In the '93 finals series Jordan had 4 40 points or more games in a row 42, 44, 55 and 41 for games 2-5. In game 6 of the series he was the only Bulls player to score in the 4th quarter prior to John Paxton hitting the 3 pointer and finished with just 33 points.

1993 Finals, it's not that they had no solution
It was that Jordan was at his PEAK of Athletic performance to make everything a bad match-up
Aside the fact his overall basketball skill was untouchable

And you have to keep in mind that MJ did all of this during the NBA's Golden Era (1980's/1990's), the most talent-rich and strongest defenses in NBA history. It's extremely important to take into consideration who each player was competing against. MJ was competing against Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Ralph Sampson, Dr. J, Charles Barkley, Isiah Thomas, Moses Malone, Domonique Wilkins, James Worthy, Clyde Drexler, Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Shawn Kemp, Bernard King, and Sydney Moncref (the best defender in NBA history, IMO) just to name a few off of the top of my head. He's the GOAT for sure. Great video.

People forget so easily (because analysts don't mention it) that MJ is one of the greatest passing shooting guards to ever play. He's no. 6 all time in assists per game at that position (really 4th because James Harden and Allen Iverson rank ahead of him and they both played several years at PG).

  • @bobvylan7215

He has anomaly stats. His stat line was considered the greatest stat line in sports history, beating out Gretzky. He has so many stats where only one guy did it, and it’s him.
The greatest one is that 7 times a guy who won the scoring title, won the NBA title. Lew Alcindor(Jabbar) with Milwaukee once in the 70s, Shaq once with the Lakers, and Jordan 5 times. He took a stat you can’t win with, and won with it. The only comparable players are 2 of the all time great centers. He does shit no one can do.

If you wanna see how banged up Jordan's body really is watch this Michael Jordan's era vs LeBron era top hard fouls vs top hard flops by random videos TV. After watching that you'll see how jordan really never gave up and stood back again and was still aggresive

The original poster of the video is mistaken on 2 facts in my opinion. Jordan won his trophies and awards in just the 11 full seasons he played in Chicago with the Bulls. He played 15 seasons overall but in 1986 missed 64 games due to a serious foot injury and in 1995 unretired in March and didn't earn any awards for those years and just missed out on the playoffs and possibly more awards with the Washington Bullets/Wizards. The list of 40 point playoff series averages have an error MJ averaged 41 PPG in 1993 as he mentioned earlier and Rick Barry averaged 40.8 PPG in the 1960 something finals series. Jordan and Kobe and Bird were dominant in the hand checking era with less spacing.

Yes you need to check out Wilt the other freak athlete. 7 foot 310 lbs with vert of MJ, as fast as Lebron 4.6 sec 40 yrd I think on grass barefoot. Plus at age 55 benched more than Shaq ever did 350 lbs. If Wilt had killer instinct he’d be the Goat but his mother raised him to be a gentle giant.

The problem with the trophy stat, while impressive, is misleading because DPOY didn't exist when Russell played but he definitely would have had at least 10 of those DPOY trophies. Regardless, Jordan is still the GOAT.

The only player that could handle Wilt Chamberlain was Bill Russell, who was an offensive and defensive master . He was not a great scorer but his rebounding skills is why he has 11 championship rings.

MJ only played 13 seasons. His sophomore year he broke his foot & played 17 games. After his first retirement in 94-95 he only played 18 games. So he basically played 13 & 5/8's seasons. This includes his Wizards years. So he played 11 seasons with the Bulls.

I do have 1 unpopular opinion about MVP’s - I don’t think I’ve seen a dead set robbery. There’s been times (obviously MJ/Lebron have more MVP caliber seasons than MVP’s) where players have had MVP caliber seasons and didn’t win - but I don’t think there’s been robberies. The closest I’ve seen - 1997. MJ didn’t win MVP because his team regressed from 72 wins to 69 wins 😮😮 mental - but to combat that - I felt Karl Malone deserved the 1998 MVP. I think everyone has about the amount of MVP’s they should

Technically and not an actual standpoint the 22 trophies in 15 full seasons are wrong because they are including because they are adding the 2 seasons he didn't play more than 22 games due to breaking his foot in his sophomore season and coming back out of his 1st retirement so technically it's 13 seasons so he wouldn't be eligible to win trophies, just saying.

If you don't know about Bill Russell, then you have some homework to do. There were fewer teams, which meant that you REALLY had to have talent to get into the league. Russell would be a problem even today. He was a premier defender who was extremely athletic.
***On the real, I already knew these stats, because I'm an old head from Chicago, who followed MJ from his days at North Carolina. I try to tell these young dudes that if they really look at the numbers, it's no contest.
