    In this CJ's Resource Center video, Freddy & the crew at CJ's demonstrate how to winterize your Mustang. Whether you're planning to store or drive your pony, we've got you covered.
    Depending on where you live, there are many ways that you can prepare for winter. Freddy goes over some excellent tips and tricks for winterizing your Mustang, but we'd like to hear from you too! Let us know how you prepare for winter.
    It's always a good idea to prepare for the worst, you never want to get stuck in a harsh blizzard with nothing but an ice scraper. Creating a "blizzard bag" can really lend a hand if you're in a pickle. When the weather doesn't permit safe driving conditions and you're already out on the road, the first thing you want to do is pull over. Here's where your blizzard bag really comes in handy. Having an extra battery or charger for your cell phone so you can call for assistance is a smart choice. Having a roadside assistance service, such as AAA is also a very helpful in a pinch. Even having some extra cash squirreled away, in case you have to spend the night at a hotel is helpful.
    What would you add to your own blizzard bag?
    So, grab a tune-up, freshen up your coolant, test your battery, swap in some rubber-booted wipers, get all your maintenance done and get ready, because winter is coming!
    Stay tuned for some great new installments. Also, if you have any tips, tricks or recommendations, don't hesitate to shout out to us. Post in the comments below, we look forward to hearing your thoughts!

    If I know it's gonna snow and get icy, I lift up my wipers so they aren't stuck to the windshield. And never use hot water on glass to get ice off lol... crack!

    Another good thing is to raise your windshield wipers up so they don't get frozen on the windshield from the ice!

    My 2002 Mustang's driver side window fell off the track because I was in a rush and pulled the door as hard as I could. Ice formed on the weather stripping and it was awful. I will definitely try the WD-40 this year

    I recommend silicon spray like from 3M for rubber weatherstripping instead of wd40.

    It is also important to ensure the battery itself is clean as dirt on the top surface will conduct electricity like a high ohm resistor and add an unnecessary drain to the battery. This leakage can actually be measured with a digital voltmeter if the battery is real dirty! We charge forklift batteries at work and ensure the batteries are clean for this reason.

    Great video! Just a couple things I want to mention. I hear some of you mentioning lifting your windshield wipers to avoid freezing. This is a good idea, however if it is windy, do not lift them! I’ve seen wind make the wipers snap back and crack windshields left and right. Also I don’t hear a mention of summer tires possibly cracking in cold weather, do you have any info on the NT555 g2’s? I think they say under 40 degrees they might crack.

    Is it safe to drive mustang ecoboost perfomance 2018 in snow with winter tires, looking to buy it but just worried about it

    • @Erafune
      @Erafune 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and no. I haven't tried it but I'm analyzing that option myself.
      It was not made with winter driving in mind so it's very easy to spin your tires, removing studs, if you're not in wet/snow mode. You should drive it like it was made of crystal.
      You should consider your ground clearance. Mustang by default ride 137mm from the ground, which is almost as good as any normal sedan/wagon, so you'll have plenty room for terrain. But you can't lower or bodykit it for those nice looks. If you often see great buildup of ice and packed snow in the middle of the road you'll have a bad time scratching your bottom. If you drive in a rural area or city with lots of hills even more so. You can get stuck in a sudden snowstorm.
      If you often drive up and down hills that may get covered in ice you may have a hard time getting up considering your weight.
      If you drive in flat city-like areas you'll be fine. I'd be nervous taking it out on the highway and get up to speed for the first time but it's probably okay doing so.
      Make sure to try braking hard in a curve on snow/ice to see how your ABS and ESC reacts.
      Underside rust-protection is another concern. I haven't figured out yet what protection each year model has out of the factory.

      I owned a 2016 mustang ecoboost over last winter, and have since upgraded to a 2015 GT. I invested in a set of 17 inch rims, plus GT radial champiro studdable snow tires.
      The car handled absolutely amazing with a proper set of wheels on them. If you buy a decent set of PROPER tires, it is very safe to drive these things in the winter time. safety is also relative to risk. If your expecting to floor it in the snow and not lose traction at all, your not being reasonable. but I can tell you that, while driving on unplowed roads, I was motoring at 40-45 very comfortably driving past people going 15-20 trying to make it safely to where they were going....

    WD40 on rubber? Oil attacks rubber.

    • @freddycjpp3660
      @freddycjpp3660 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to WD-40 "WD-40® Multi-Use Product can be used on just about everything. It is safe to use on metal, rubber, wood and plastic. It can also be applied to painted metal surfaces without harming the paint. Polycarbonate and clear polystyrene plastic are among the few surfaces on which to avoid using a petroleum-based product like WD-40® Multi-Use Product."
