    The black hole is no joke! I saw this video AFTER I lost my socket wrench in the fender. Luckily I was able to fish it out of the bottom of the wheel well! This was an easy task - except for that black hole! Thanks for the video.

    Thanks for the SAFETY tips. Often times I tend to overlook that. I like how you remind people to put the Positive in first when you re-install the battery. I'm doing mine tomorrow and certainly will keep this in mind.

    Thank you for how simple and direct you made your video. I've never changed a battery on car. I know nothing about cars. Now I found myself in a position where I have to do it myself and I am nervous about it because I've heard what can go wrong. You made this very simple, both visually and in dialogue. Thank you

    Thank you for the video! The manual says nothing about how to change the battery. It just says it may spark and be careful LOL. No steps no nothing.
    I was confused by the screw clips of the battery leads. Seeing they just needed to be loosened was what I needed.
    And good reminder on the safety tips too!

    Thank you for this video. You saved me time and hassle. I have a 6-cylinder, but everything was the same. The only surprise I got was the split block on the bolt holding the negative cable on, but it wasn't hard to figure it out.

      @@brandonhooker4498 thanks so much. I got one from O'Reilly's and they put it in for me, while I watched. One thing, it appears that the battery being out has reset a few readings. A few months ago I had an oil change, but the display is now showing that I need one. How do I reset that without taking it to the dealer? Thanks! Happy New Year!

      1. Twist wheel all the way to the right 2. Remove at least 3 pins on plastic panel around shoulder of car 3. You should be able to reach your hand inside and grab your phone as well as put the pins back together to put plastic covering back in place.

    I hate the little box the battery sits in. I mistakingly pulled the whole thing out🤦‍♂️ but still got the new battery secured inside it and everything put back together. Didnt do anything fancy, just tightened down the terminal ends and she started right up. Honestly, it was harder to get the driver door open with the key in the door handle piece that pops off. They did not make that easy. But yeah, i dont get fancy with battery changes, pull the old, drop the new in, tighten her down and fire her up😂

    How do you jump this damn car? The clamps don't fit over the positive and negative terminals on this car. It's kinda d of frustrating. The housing of the batter is small and the pieces that you need to clamp are too big.

    • @chosenog692
      @chosenog692 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremy Franco The cable you are connecting, put it sideways and it’ll latch on. It won’t harm your battery. As well, the short end by the battery - and + cable can be reached if you can’t put the clamps over the main charge section

    • @DabbinD
      @DabbinD 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the back of your key fob, there’s a key inside of it under the cover.
      The little section to the right of the door handle, is a cover and it pops open for you to use the key there.

      @@charredskeleton you wouldn't be able to get your window to drop any amount without power from the battery. You should still be able to get into your car with the key inside the back of your key fob.

    • @kodiak2fitty

      You are FAR less likely to be shocked as you have to now touch both terminals to complete the loop (the other end of the positive line is generally not easily accessible. If you have the ground terminal attached, there are a billion places on the car to complete the loop to the positive.

  • @WickedProxy
    @WickedProxy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also please do NOT put your wrench, ratchet, screwdriver or anything else metal on top of the battery at any time! The wrench can directly short and weld itself to the battery terminals. At this point it would be difficult to pull off because it is now supper hot and it's welded! At any moment of this occurring the battery can explode!!! Just because a battery does not have enough "juice" to turn over your engine does not mean it won't weld a wrench and or explode if off gassing.

    Changing the Battery in a Rental Car?

  • @bigfish3870
    @bigfish3870 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    You wouldn't fry the computer if the battery is reversed, you'll only blow one of the main fuses, which is easily replaced

  • @charredskeleton
    @charredskeleton 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm reasonably certain that nothing happens when reversing the polarity. Though the system is polarity sensitive and won't work with incorrect polarity that's likely the end of it. Diodes only let power flow one way and trust me the computor is full of them. Older hardware might be more of a concern in this aspect for numerous reasons. However making sure the posts are on the correct sides of the battery will go a long ways towards avoiding a second trip to the parts store.

    • @jakeguitar01
      @jakeguitar01  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      charredskeleton ---> If I'm not mistaken it was a 2004 Toyota camry. Reversing the polarity absolutely did fry the computer. It was probably OK until the ignition key was turned. That's what did it. Maybe some cars have safeguards for this but not that camry...
