Last week purchased a 2023 slim prob 9i (i9+4050+32RAM+MiniLED) for only $850 before tax through Lenovo eBay store. can’t be more excited. It is refurbished but when I received it is like brand new, only 7 battery recycles.
That's a great laptop, I have that one 14" and this yoga 9i 16". Love the 14" for portability since they don't make one this year. Working on my 16" review rn, it's a sweet laptop fs
I'm confused by your comment about this being an IPS display. It seems most of these, including the standard 4060 version usually available at Lenovo and Best Buy are Mini-LED displays.
How would this ultra 9 chip compare to the M4 & M4 pro chips in the Mac Mini & MacBook pro? I'm planning on upgrading from Intel 10th gen Acer aspire laptop to either the Lenovo Yoga 9i Pro or M4 Mac Mini. I do photography as a hobby & don't edit a lot of photos at once probably like 5-10 pictures at a time
Hello Folks, just a tip I learned before Best Buy pulled the plug on the Memorial Day deals. The 4050 version does not come with the mini LED, so you'll have to pony up the extra $200 for the better screen on the 4060 model.
It is not 1700 at bestbuy, it is 1900. I have the 1700 one that is 4050, and the battery life is better on this one from what I was told at the store than the 4060.
How does this compare with ASUS Zephyrus G16 in terms of build quality, speakers, and fan noise? They both have a 4070 option, and they are both thin and light. The Yoga Pro has a MiniLED option with a higher brightness and resolution, but less vivid colors than the OLED in G16. Yoga Pro has a numpad with Home/End/PgUp/PgDwn keys at convenient positions, whereas G16 has a centered keyboard and touchpad without a numpad.
Dude, you have g14 and g16 in one post. Regarding g16, there are 3 fans in asus and people complain (abit )about squeaking fan noise, 3rd one on the dgpu. 4080 version has vapor chamber instead and, supposed, to run cooler. Also, asus has hdmi 2.1 whereas yoga 9i hasn't. And some people complained about asus quality control with blots on the screen. Asus 4080 with amd *might*, and i stress it, *might* be a better choice.
I keep getting told not to buy a Lenovo Yoga because the hinges break - Hasn't that issue been fixed? I really want to purchase this laptop but not if the hinges are going to break after a few months of use.
Then if you already have an lenovo ideapad pro 5i, this one is going to be a lot better. But it does not work with a stylus/pen, like the ideapad. If you want something similar to what you have, they sell the lenovo 9i 16 that is not the pro, that would work with the comparison. Anything would be better if it was newer because the tech is newer.
There is an option when configuring this to have the PureSight display that it is MiniLED and can get around 1100 nits and they claim 100% coverage of the 3 color gamuts.
I purchased this but really did not like the track pad. For the price they charge for this laptop, I expect a haptic track pad no questions asked. The clicks were so loud and felt really cheap. Had to immediately return it.
Sorry to bother you but can you tell me how much does the battery last? I’ve heard multiple opinions saying it lasts 2 hours while other zays it las 10 hours. can you tell me the aversge on how long the battery lasts?
Da'faq. I called lenovo earlier today and they said it did work with the pen. I gave them a model number and everything. I just ordered the 4060 8gb card. I guess I'll just have to invest in another tablet for drawing. I needed to design but i do a lot of photo editing and wanted to get into video editing. Needed power but not full on gaming power and price.
I really like this laptop! But that subpar is making me think of choosing the Prestige 16 EVO. I want a laptop that will last me at least 8 hours unplugged. But so many reddit posts claim to get worse battery life.
Considering the 4060 version of this. anyone have it and can vouch for the use cases? I'd like to do Blender, graphics work, CAD software and potentially Visual studio / Android studio with emulation. Might be a big ask from a laptop but cannot find anything on the use of this besides some gaming.
"under 2000 dollars", its funny and interesting how people in NA look at the price "before tax" when this is never the reality of a price. In Europe, most countries sit around 20% VAT and prices are always shown with VAT included since thats what goes out of your wallet at the end of the day. I ordered this laptop and returned it, mostly because it was too expensive. Without an OS, 32GB, RTX 4060 and CU9, it came to about 2070 euros with a student discount of 9 or 10%. I think the original price was about 2300~ euros. Anyway, thanks for the video.
I got it for 1830€ with windows and rtx 4060 3.2 k display and 32gb ram 1 tb ssd. I was thinking about paying 1920€ for rtx 4070, but i dont need it i guess
Thanks for the thorough presentation. I am also looking for something very portable. For 4K-5K video editing in davinci and large video exports, would you rather go with this one or with HP spectre x360 32GB RAM ? (If macbook is not an option)
48gb/1tb MacBook? In my country these both come at the same price, and, judging from peoples reviews, hardware in Mac just better. I am disappointed as laptop of the same quality as MacBook costs same, with questionable quality.
The mini led in this laptop is both amazing… and bad. It is by the brightest screen I’ve ever seen in a laptop . It’s like almost 700 nits in sdr (not sure where he got that 400 nits in the video) and 1200 on hdr . In sdr mode it uses single zone dimming . There’s no blooming at all . In hdr the contrast ratio just goes up by a million . The blacks are imho almost pitch black . Very oled like . But the blooming is baaaaad. I only use hdr mode in things that officially support it like TH-cam or movies . Don’t bother with auto hdr. Even in sdr single zone dimming the screen is like A+
Loud and noisy under any decent load. Battery drain under heavy load or gaming while on charging. All the benchmark results in all videos are always at maximum performance mode. This mode makes the laptop extremely annoying due to the fan noise. In the balanced power mode the results are kinda 35% lower.
My experience has been different. It only heats up when the computer has been used to game for longer amounts of time each day. Are you charging it while playing? Because if anything mine will not work as well if I don't have it plugged in for certain games. What games are you playing? Is it the 4050 or 4060? The 4050 will not be able to hold as many games as the 4060. The fan noise gets loud if you have been gaming all day long on the 4050 and the 4060 will probably lose more battery quicker because it has more ram. Are you a pro gamer using the 4060? Because I am confused. The 4060 does not have as great a battery life from what I've been told. That fan is quieter than my previous asus even when I play and it gets louder.
Mine has lasted 8 hours per day, sometimes 10 depending on what I am doing, so I am not sure what you're doing to your computer, but I have the 4050 and its much better than the asus I used to own.
Do you have the 4050 or 4060? Because I don't think you watched the video. The 4050 and 4060 both have speakers on the sides and on bottom near the corner. Are you referring to the fan right near the bar across the back on the bottom? That is not a speaker. The fan might be overheating if you are using the computer all day long. The 4050 has better battery, the 4060 has more ram.

Just wondering, with the Yoga Pro build that comes with Mini-LED, do those suffer similar burn issues to OLED?
Probably not, but even if they do the chances of burn in or similar issues in the miniLED displays are highly unlikely.
