WOW!! Great job!! We have been fishing the last few days are Cape Disappointment and have been doing pretty good!! We really want to catch a Lingcod!! Thanks for the tips!
You bet!! The ling love paddle tail swim baits. The bigger the bait, the bigger the fish. I love white. But any high quality swim bait that looks like shad or herring (two tone, white/black) are great options. The most Ling i have caught are on white kitech fat body swim baits. Hope to see you out there.
Sweet another Oregonian fisher ❤
Welcome friend. Coho rodeo video currently being edited. Fish on!
Awesome catches!
Excellent video with great commentary. Loved every minute of it and I must say informative and professionally done. Thanks! 👏
Wow, thanks alot for the positive comment. I appreciate it!
the black Bass are "Sooo yummie ! sweetest fish
I agree. I love black bass. I love Lingcod more. I love Halibut even more :)
I've caught starfish before!🙃🙂🙃
I've hit south jetty in Newport about 10 times now and still havent caught a fish 😂 just went yesterday and fished hard all day. Moved around a lot and only got two bites. Tried different weights different setups different colors. Super frustrating. Only had ¾oz jigs ill try 1oz next time. Im determined to catch some rock bass. Thanks for the video.
Switch it up and move to the north. Go out past the high rocks section. Fish the south/bay side. Use the same setup. Find a spot that is not so snaggy. Cast out FAR in every direction. Hit all the water. If you dont get a fish within an hour, move and do it again. You will get fish. If on the south jetty go out as far as you can. In close just doesnt produce. If you dont have heavy weights just focus on the calm side. Best swim bait is a 4" Berkley Minnow of Shad (two toned, black and white, time stamp 4.30 in video). Those are scented and they work like $$. Good luck. You got this.
@righteousriverfishinginoregon7 I was planning on trying north Jetty next time just gotta figure out how to get over there. Lol. But I went just about clear to the foghorn and started there and worked my way back in fishing both sides of the jetty moving every hour or so. Fished from about 6:30 am til around 2:30 and only had those two bites. Had some keitechs like you showed in your video and some misc. other swimbaits/grubs. I felt like I was hitting bottom with ¾oz most of the time but will go heavier next time and see if it helps. Thanks for the tips. Tight lines.
@anthony91ish i start at the foghorn and work my way out. Watch my "I almost died to catch a ling" video. Its out past the horn.

@righteousriverfishinginoregon7 oh you go way out I haven't gone past foghorn yet water was pretty rough yesterday tho it got sketchy in some spots even close in I'll head out further on a calmer day sometime. I'll check out that video tho for sure.
Keep it coming brotha love the content🤙
Thanks dude!!
Just moved on to Salem. Life long desert boy. Can't wait to fish the jettys
Its super fun. You'll love it.
nice haul!
Thanks. That was an average day. Most days, I do better, with a lingcod or 2. But fishing is fishing. Thanks for the comment!!!!
Cool video man. I don't fish the jetty enough.
Its my go to when i want to always catch fish.
I've never cought a bass only strip perch from the jetty. I need to give it a shot. I'm going to pick up some pattle tails for sure.
@fightthefishpnw5455 excellent! Just get the exact same stuff i show on the video, especially the 4" berkeley minnow or jerk shad. They are money!
Cool video, subscribed
Awesome thank you!
I know im 2months late... but dude youre amazing. Got yourself a new subscriber:)
Wow thanks dude. We all need fish on!!!!
@righteousriverfishinginoregon7
For sure, I actually was just in newport last week and did some jetty fishing.. that south jetty is a workout! Lol unfortunately I didn't do to great, landed 2 kelp greenlings and lost something big. I appreciate your video, I'm gonna take the advice and try again in a month
@qtran6847 excellent. If you think the south jetty hike is tough, the north is way farther. The fish get better the farther out you go, normally, but i did once catch a huge bass at the south jetty not too far out on the right side with big sand shrimp. Shrimp catch greenling (see video #1) and jigs catch rock bass, cabezon, and ling cod. Good luck!
“ make your wife happy “ lol I put cod in our grocery cart today and she told me I need to catch us fresh ones and stop paying for it 😂 need to get out to Newport. Nice vid man!
Ha!!!! If she tells you to get fresh fish, you better do it!!! Good luck.
I’m fishing towards coos bay is there any spots you know of that’s any good in that area?
I don't. Winchester bay jetty is the closest I know and it is fantastic.
Any jetty in Oregon can be good with these methods.
Okay cool you talking about the triangle? Just trying to catch something
@staceybogart yes the triangle. Fish the outside, not the inside of the triangle. The fish are best the farther out you go. Both sides have lots of fish. Last time i was there i caught a 32" ling.
nice im a go try
Did you go?
Do you time the tides? Outgoing? Incoming? High? Low? Thx :)
Yes and no. If I can go, I just go because there are always fish. However, I do best in incoming tide leading up to high tide. When the water is higher, the fish seem to be moving around more, especially the ling. It is easier to catch ling at high tide. But, if you can go just do it. If you keep searching and moving around you will find fish. On tough fishing days just use bait (sand shrimp) to ensure success.
Is that barview jetty
No, it's Newport but I do also fish Barview.
@@righteousriverfishinginoregon7 is barview jetty good to fish
@@davidmarginean3948 Yes, very good. Also, the jetty is short so you don't have to hike as far. Also, people just fish off the rocks near the campground and still catch bass and ling. I want to explore that area more and plan to do so soon. Most people don't do well because they don't know "what" to use. Watch my videos and learn what gear and methods work best. Practice them at any jetty in Oregon (Florence is not good) and you will catch fish.

Using some basic manners would sure help when you are requesting something instead of just telling someone to do something. If you are referring to the while paddle tail swim bait then it is a keitech product www.keitechusa.com/catalog/fat-swing-impact.html
@@righteousriverfishinginoregon7 thqnks
You bet. I'm not stuck on that brand. I will use any white swim bait that looks similar, as long as it has good body wiggle and action in the tail. I am sure other colors work also, I just find better success with white. Good luck. @@user-br2py6ik7e
Black bass are considered a pelagic fish which means they can will and do travel for food. They are not a rock fish like most think
Whatever you say. It don't matter to me. It's good food. www.dfw.state.or.us/mrp/fishid/images/Sebastes_melanops.jpg
😂
May I ask where you are?
On this trip, Newport, Oregon. But these techniques work on mostly any jetty in the PNW.
You provided some good info on video, thank you. I am going to try Coos Bay jetty.
@@Starboardsideprospecting excellent. Good luck. Report back with your success.
Why so heavy line for such small fish
Two reasons: first, the rocks are sharp and they shear line easily. Second, it is very possible for a ling cod to bite. They can be up to 40" and run straight into the rocks. This weight line helps me not to break or damage on the rocks and gives me the best chance at a big fish if it bites. Thanks for watching.
@@righteousriverfishinginoregon7 hi 40 lb braid line on which reel
@user-br2py6ik7e I use 40lb braid on my surf rod for normal size (smaller) jigs and only fish those on the jetty side that has less current because my chance of snagging up is less. On the rough side of the jetty where I catch big fish I use 40-50 lb mono because it can rub on the rocks and not break. Plus, it's heavy enough to reel in a big fish.
@@righteousriverfishinginoregon7 but which kind of reel spining
@@user-br2py6ik7e For saltwater, I use Penn spinning reels, both the fierce III or the Persuit III. I believe they are the best budget reels for saltwater hands down.
Just buy an ugly stick. They’re all like 60 bucks maybe 70 I like my ugly stick. It works really good never broke yet.
That's good advice for people on a budget, but I like lighter rods. So far, I'm loving this Diawa.
Never heard them called Rock Bass...?? But, hey.....
I guess I shortened the name and didn't realize it. They are all rock fish, and I was targeting black bass, so I guess I just started calling them rock bass. Good observation!!
