Great video buddy! May I ask, what tide should I fish?
Good question. I normally try to time it so I fish incoming tide. When the water is deeper I snag less and catch bigger fish. However, on the day of this video the tide was dropping and I fished low tide and caught my first limit. Moral of the story is that fish are always there, you just need to find them. Fish and move, be methodical, if your not catching change your bait and move again. That's what works for me. Good luck. Fish on!

Wow! Great tips! 👍
@@pnwexcso2939 excellent! Thanks.
i just got my first Ling today thanks you man appreciate the all of the tips. it hit the white gulp bait.
Outstanding! That's your first of many more. Good job.
I went out of Newport this week twice. First time ever jetty fishing and I lost a lingcod right at the rocks. It was so fun but so much to learn. Thanks for posting.
Great news! It's a real bummer when you lose them at the rocks. Often times the braid can sheer off, or sometimes they get into a difficult place to land. Best thing you can do is to have a long gaff so you can hook them when you get them close. Keep at it and you will get some nice fish.
Great video man!!!
Thank you. It's a long one, but I wanted to capture all the great catches. Nothing like getting a limit. Fish on!
Going their this Saturday. This gets me pumped
Go get em'
Nicely done
Thanks!
That’s a good day out there 👍
The best day out there!
What a good day! hoping to get out there myself soon
@@SouBuuS do it!
I want to help YOU CATCH MORE FISH!
Let’s go fishing brotha I got a nice jetty to go to
@@nicholasyebra1988 You own a private jetty? Okay, I'll go lol. I first plan to fish with u!ys @yoomb so I can help get those younger guys on some saltwater patties.
I'm an old guy that recently got into fishing. Only went to a jetty once and nobody there caught anything. Wish I could go with you, but I live in Washington.
@@bradmclaughlin9023 you can use the same techniques to catch fish there too.
Love your page brother, got a year left in the Army, just moved back to Oregon. Have done a lot of Jetty fishing. If you ever want to link up and go. I’m always down!
slayin brotha
Whenever I can!
Good job men 👍👍👍
It's just me, but thanks!
Nice dude!
Thanks! it's not every day we get a limit. I was stoked.
@@righteousriverfishinginoregon7 I’ve fished there many times but only caught greenlings. I’m definitely going to try some of your techniques. I really want to catch a lingcod.
@F-N-C I'm trelling telling you, jigs and those berkley baits. Just move around and cast everywhere. You will find a ling.
Strong day out on the jetty!
Definitely. One of the better ones for sure.
@righteousriverfishinginoregon7 yeah definitely going to try that sent spray stuff and see if it helps. Thanks for the useful info 👍🏾
@@E_JIM3N3Z11b Nice. It does help.
Loved the video! The reeling against the drag is a bit triggering for me though!
Me too. So, the first fish I caught, I needed to tighten the drag. Even after I adjusted it, it still took drag. The drag on that reel is a bit different than others. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video here's a tip for ya tighten your drag all the way you never want a fish pulling drag out there the big boys will bulldog you into the rocks and call em rock fish plz they ain't bass i like your swim bait it was fire! Good job man
Thanks. How about you tighten your drag all the way and when you catch a monster see what happens. My drag was loose because it was the first fish I caught with that reel and I adjusted it afterward. I would never tighten my drag completely, not for me. Take care and thanks for commenting.
Black Rockfish. "Other common names
black bass, black snapper, sea bass, salt and pepper" Straight from the ODFW website. This is what I call them and this is what I will call them. Thanks for watching. dfw.state.or.us/mrp/finfish/sp/rockfish.asp
Call him what you want you can sound as stupid as you want I can tell you're an asshole so good luck with that 😄
Amen. Praise the LORD
Always!!!
Most Mcdonalds have reasonably priced bagged ice for your cooler🎣
@@johnbolton9957 oh sweet! I freeze small milk jugs and use those so I don't have to buy ice. Thanks for the tip!
Nice haul bro. But isn’t that 50# braid strong enough to lift those sea bass up with out a gaff? Or were you just playing safe?
Yes, definitely, the 50lb braid is strong enough for the bass. I was careful for two reasons: sometimes the line gets nicked on the rocks during the fight and causes weak spots (like one bass that broke the line after I caught it) so I try to be careful. Second reason is to protect the rod. That rod is rated Medium and was expensive, so I normally am careful as I lift them up. As you can see, those bass were larger than normal which was awesome. Good observation!
Sweet video, useful tips.
Appreciate you being unapologetic about your faith. You said you have a two hour drive to Newport... Curious if you're in Portland or the metro area? My wife and I are looking for a church and I'd love to connect with some folks who love Jesus and the outdoors. They're a little few and far between up here. 😂
Yo! Thanks for watching and commenting. I am near Salem and fellowship in Stayton, Oregon. I doubt you want to drive an hour to go to church lol, although I did go to a church in Vancouver for a while which was 2 hours, but finally had to move on. And BTW I don't have any church recommendations for you in PDX because I just don't know of any. Finding a good church is like trying to find a good fishing river, it takes careful research and experimenting. I really hope you and your family find the right place where God wants you to thrive. Take care brother.

Appreciate the response... I know we'll find something eventually. All in God's timing! I know He's led me in the past and I'm sure he is now, too, even if I can't see it right now.
You take care too, and keep making such excellent fishing content!
Where is that jetty? Greetings from Idaho. Very nice video, thanks.
This jetty is on the Oregon coast. Thank you!
Can you please share your set up on the comment section. I was on the south jetty using Carolina and got skunked lol
I was there today on the south side using a simple dropper setup with sand shrimp and got a limit of kelp greenling. When I bait fish (rare) I just use a 1oz skinny weight and tie a dropper loop about 2' above it. I'll link another video I have that shows the setup.

Thank you. This is my third try at it and your videos are very educational
@@yusufsaggaf2965 you bet. The farther out you go the better chances you have to get fish. If your using shrimp, just let it sit at the bottom and wait. Those fish will come out of the rocks and eat it. Good luck.
Looks fun but knowing me I’d slip on a rock break my rod, and hurt myself. Ha!
Yes, that can easily happen! Ask me how I know. This type of terrain is not for most people, but it does get you to the fish. There are many other safer options, which I recommend. Thanks for watching.
What tides do you fish?
I answered that question for another subscriber and pinned it to the top of this comment section. You will find the answer there.
I have a river fishing rod an okuma SST can I use it for this or do I need a specific type of rod for for this? I apologize if its a dumb question non of my family nor friends fish so I'm learning all from youtube and the internet says its ok to use it then other sources say no, so I'm stuck on this
I use long surf rods from 9-11 ft which is helpful when trying to lift up fish and keep them from the rocks. However, you do not need a surf rod and can use an SST. Hopefully it is at least rated medium or medium heavy. Longer the better. Use what you got and make it work until you can buy what you want. God luck!
@@righteousriverfishinginoregon7 I've read about ciguatoxin risks with black sea bass is there much risks with this here in Newport or is it more of other countries that have more reefs?
@@Linkvi390 I have no clue. I've been eating them for years. If you catch a 3 eyed fish like on the Simpsons you might just throw it back.
@@righteousriverfishinginoregon7 Haha alright thank you I appreciate the help and the great videos with tips for us newbies. Keep up the great work! God Bless and tight lines.
@@Linkvi390 yessur Amen!
There is a serious gut rumble going on for that poor man's lobster thumbnail.
Definitely great food! I'll give most to my parents but anyway cooked some fresh ling. Yummy!
Are you on the north side of the jetty?
It doesn't really matter which side you fish because they both have fish, but I do believe that the farther out you go the more fish you may find. Winchester Bay is another great jetty to fish on both sides as well. And, Barview jetty too.
Hahaha
What jetty? Coos Bay jetty good? How about stripe bass? Great video keep them coming. Thanks
I've never fished south as far as coose bay. The jetty at winchester bay is $$. I've caught big ling there. Using this jig and swim bait method should get you fish at almost any jetty. Florence is not great because of all the sand.
@@righteousriverfishinginoregon7 thanks for responding, going to have to give it a try.keep the videos coming
@gregorymillar285 Will do. Fish on!
