Followed Randy's insight, avoided the junky steel bracelet and I picked up one with the rubber bracelet. Love it. Also did the green scrubber pad deglosser on case and am very pleased.
I will eventually get a nice bond like NATO strap but the rubber band is surprisingly solid.
Cost me $87 US. Not too shabby.

I bought one a couple years ago and it's one of my favorite wears. I have a Heimdalr, Phoibos, Loreo, Steinhardt, Invicta, Squale and I once owned a Sub. My goal was to one day do my own compare of homages vs the real deal.
Anyway, this watch is hard to beat around $100.

The Steeldive 1953, has to be the best Rolex Submariner homage available. I purchased mine two months ago and the bracelet has been updated, it’s quality has been significantly improved. I also wear a Addiesdive Submariner as a beater watch and the QC isn’t great, misaligned cyclops, and bezel, but the Miyota 2115 quartz movt, ceramic bezel, and BGW9/C3 lume makes up for the $60 homage.

Got to agree with you about the bracelet, it’s pretty cheap. On mine the end links sit a fraction lower than the lugs so there’s an edge. It’s not terrible but I can’t help but notice. The watch it’s self is fantastic. The gold fish bowl type cyclops certainly works lol. The lume I have to say is amazing, especially at this price. All in all it’s a nice watch to wear. I really like it.

Got mine on a whim for $99 from Amazon thinking if it sucks, return it. Went back to get another as a gift after about 2 weeks & the store was sold out. Now the seal has been broken on AliExpress, just working my way through the Steeldive catalogue. All thier sh!t goes hard for the money

    • @hgr.7857

PS- I Like the bracelet's well-fitting solid endlinks, something Seiko has never managed to get to thier customers who spend 3-10x as much. The clasp... Well, yeah. A decent milled clasp can be had for $7-$20 from Ali or eBay to drastically upgrade the feel. Or just rock that Sub on a NATO 😎😎7
Edit: the SD rubber waffles (perfectly at home on the Willard and 62MAS) are very comfy and eliminate the weaknesses of the metal bracelets 🤷🏼

All of my sub $125 watches get an immediate strap change. To a nato or rubber. I've got some watches that I never even bothered to find how the SS bracelet feels on it. The only SS bracelet I have left on is the Hamilton Khaki Diver. Excellent (for what it is) ss bracelet. It's a shame that Steeldive doesn't use the same bracelet on all of their watches that utilise the Oyster-style. My SD-1974 has a spectacular bracelet, complimenting what is a superior homage to the original - and again - for less than $100.
The correct pronunciation of the sub IS 'sub-ma-REEN-er. Both Rolex and myself have been unsuccessful getting that message out there. But the point is, it is a watch for the professional sub-ma-REEN-er. It's a quirk in life that the mispronunciation of words can become the rule and not the exception. Take aluminium, for example.

The dial, bezel and case are super solid, though the artwork on the case back is burley.
The issue I have is when I tried to set the time- right out of the box- the stem pulled right out of the case. It seems as if the seller tried and failed to cut and fit a new stem.

@@cheapwatchman_official Just get the flame from the torch right on the top of the cyclops. Heat it up a few seconds and then push it with something wooden. When it comes off wipe the crystal down with rubbing alcohol or whatever you like to use, excess glue comes off easily.

Submarine-er, Submare-iner. Potae-to, Potah-toe. lol I'm a retired sub guy, I never cared. How's the Steeldive compare to the Invicta ProDiver?

Not sure at what scale this works from a business perspective, but FWIW James Hoffmann gives away his reviewed coffee equipment to his Patreons. Must be a decent draw for Patreon subs, and it helps thwart perceptions of bias for the content.

I've considered a Steeldive. But I really think I'm gonna save up and get an Islander or a Seiko instead.

For 100.00 & 300.00 USD respectively, you could get both an offering from Steeldive (comically underpriced for the quality) and an Islander (very fairly priced & high qual.) for an avg of 2 bills per unit. I LOVE my ISL21 38mm emerald. I don't wear it enough, though, because... I also love my SD170 Capt Willard on an og waffle band. And the SD1939 white Datejust homage. And the Squale homage. And the 62MAS homage. That said, I want an Islander 38mm Pepsi.
Marc at LIW is the Man, sticking it to Big Watch and doing so with original, high quality products and OUTSTANDING customer service.

@@hgr.7857 you make a great point. I could just get both an ISL and a SD.
      F the Seiko..........for now. 👍🏻😂😉

@@Tom_H327 Hell yeah. The SD as a daily beater and the Islander as a more prestigious option. Marc & LIW go so hard with the products & customer service... I WANT to spend my money with Marc's business. That as opposed to Seiko who've proven over the years they don't care about their customers at all. Misaligned bezels & indices, increasing prices, hollow endlinks & pressed clasps + Hardlex & not sapphire (no matter the price point). Much respect to LIW & Marc's Islanders 💯
Edit: Seiko is like the Jordan brand of watches: they used to be awesome and competitively priced. Now they're are coasting off of past success/rep while their quality decreases, yet the price increases. IDK, for my money it's Islander all the way. They come with all the mods I'd have to do to a stock Seiko. Just my opinion 🤷🏼

WOW is right,....I just received my Steeldive SD1953 Sub Men Dive Watch V2. What a piece of fucking JUNK! I took it out of the box, removed the protective plastic and went to unscrew the crown to set it,..... the crown was very dificult to turn and wouldn't disengage to even the first setting. Now the crown won't even screw back in...it's complete JUNK! Customer support is non-existent and I will need to dispute the charge on my credit card! What a FUCKING waste of my time & money!!!

Really like your channel but have no interest in the quality of metal bracelets in a low cost watch..use leather or Nato; you may just state if it is a above average metal bracelet or below... and reduce the time spent on a low cost on bracelet and just a summation. Good luck in the future
