Thanks. The instructions that came with the CPU cooler were a bunch of blurry pictures and no text. It really is a simple job with your video showing me how it is done.
My stomach dropped when you had to put a plate on the back side of the motherboard. I hate doing this crap but my CPU is burning up, so it's either completely disassemble my machine for this one single component or let my CPU burn. Yeah, thinking of just letting it burn.

Outstanding video! I got one of these and was too lazy to read directions so looked for a video installation guide and found your video. Followed step-by-step and it went heavenly! If you see me around let me know you're Ronsanut and I'll buy you a beer.
Thanks for the guide. Watched it on my iPhone when i installed the cooler on my i7 4770k. 32 celcius idle and 60 celcius full load. I had 100 celcius full load on stock cooler.
@@drteska97 I'm buying this cooler soon. Stock cooler my i7 4770 is fine at idle (35c) but jumps up to the low 70s celcius under full load and its very loud. Hopefully it's not too much of a pain to do it with mobo in the case
Thank you SO much for this video! I'm doing my first build and installing this CPU cooler has been the most confusing of the entire build. I was wondering what the fan brackets were for, and the rubber pads ... nothing explained that they were for an extra fan until you did. And positioning the mounting bracket, the adjustments on it, were better shown on your video than any other I've looked at. Thumbs up!
Thanks for the video. I just bought a Hyper 212 EVO. This videos helps me to understand exactly what I need to do. This will be the first aftermarket CPU cooler I have installed. It's great that you covered a different fan option in the install video. I'm glad you are thorough when it comes to the tutorial/guides. I subbed after seeing this video.
Ideally you mount it so it blows through the heat sink fins and out the back of your case or out the top depending on your cooler orientation and case air flow.
I just ordered the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler from Newegg. It was just delivered and I installed it today on my Intel LGA 1156. They slightly modified the kit. There were black spacers to add to the front side of the Motherboard between the standoff's and nuts. I tried to follow this video exactly and the bracket wouldn't reach the standoffs. I double-checked my instructions and noticed it said to install the spacers. I did that and the install went smooth the 2nd time. Still super helpful during my install. Thanks for the video!
@@squigeeeeey reallly late but for future reference. I just put mine in 1 hour ago. I screwed each side bit by bit until it all aligned. If it doesn't go down with ease... look at the instructions carefully. I didn't attach the support in the screws correctly. After that it worked fine just if one is up, unscrew it a bit and screw in the opposite corner bit by bit alternating each time
The 212X is the upgraded version that hasn't reached proliferation yet. Fan aside, the difference lies with the aluminum fins. They have X-shaped perforations around the heatpipes. These perforations have a two-fold purpose: the first is to help direct some of the airflow around behind the heatpipes to stop "heat pockets" from forming, the second is to allow for better a better type of airflow.
One of the primary reasons I bought this unit was because it is listed as one of the quietest on the market; Do you really need it quieter? Why change out the fan? Just because?
I kind of agree that swapping out the fan on this defeats part of the purpose of the install video. OP should probably put that in the heading so people know.
t0lkien1 I might of been a little dumb on my part, but I'm currently doing a budget build (£900) and couldn't afford top of the range fans, so I bought 7 CM Sickeflows what are meant to be quieter and better performing than the Hyper Evos 212 Stock fan (plan to put 2 on the cpu cooler) but problem is there 3 pin fans (my mobo does support 3 pin cpu fans) but do you think I should replace them for PWM fans?
Depends on your motherboard, Most BIOS now have the option to set your ration and leave all other settings on Autro, when you do that the BIOS adjusts the voltage you need to support that Overclock. I am just saying the voltage the BIOS adjust to is always way more than you need. Really watch TTL's video and you will understand.
Ronsanut, Your video was VERY helpful as a CPU cooler is not something I had installed before. I'm an old guy and I haven't built a computer in about 15 years. Thanks so much for providing this. I was unable to view the "line method" that you use for applying the thermal paste because of the camera angle. I was a little surprised to find out that you didn't use the stock fan as I did. I'm sure that I should have viewed the entire video before starting instead of "as I go".
Well done. This installation is easy to follow. It even is 100% clear the dimm slot closest the fan not impacting RAM install......sweet. Thank you, Ron, for putting out the video.
No, you do not have too. I always like to use some isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip or any lint free makeup cleaning pad. For the thermal past, if you plan on keeping stock speeds then the stuff that comes with it is fine. If you want to overclock id invest in some artic Silver 5 paste.
Ideally you face the fans out the back so the air flow comes from the front of your case and out the back. But can face it up and blow the air out the top of your case (assuming you have vents and or fans in the top, or you could even face it down or in pulling air from the top or rear into the case, but you have to make sure you are exhausting the hot air somewhere. Also the cooler is bolted down and does not put stress on the CPU itself.
Yes, Ron is following best practices here, and his anti-static arm band protects the electronics from insensible discharge into the parts on the motherboard. I'm guessing that the bluish mat on his workbench is conductive and the end of the arm band is clipped to that.
There is about 7.5 Inches of space from the CPU socket to the roof of the Prodigy and the EVO is 6.2 inches tall , so yes it should fit, however you will not be able to put any fans in the top/roof. Also a fan in the rear of the Prodigy should fit but may be tight.

Star pattern is in part to ensure the thermal paste spreads as evenly as possible. If you tighten one side a bit more than another, you squeeze an excess of paste off one side and overload the other... Which can lead to things like compound squirming out the side. Star pattern spreads diagonally, more chance it'll be evenly distributed.
Depends on how much room you have in your case. I would probably removed the cards. The memory you may need to leave i. Check the clearance and see if you can re install the memory after you install the EVO. If you can then take the memory our as well.

Yes you can change it with any 120mm fan. Remember though you should try to replace with another 4 Pin (PWM) fan . But you do not have to. If you use a 3 Pin fan it will just be on full power (12V) the whole time. No biggie , just may be a little noisier.
I did not really get a chance to test it much. I just used it to verify my CPU would overclock. I don't recall the idle and OC temps. Checkout my video on the water cooled SM8 system with the Gigabyte Z77x-UP7 and I may have listed some temps in that video.

Great video...I was thinking of getting this fan however i'm not sure whether the height of the tower will exceed the capacity of my case. Any more details on its height? Thanks
I used MX4. Artic Silver 5 is fine, but takes a couple of days to cure, from my experience. If you install the heat sink correctly you will be just fine. Use the pea or line method.
Thank you so much for this video! The packaged instructions were worthless. Like a heat sink made by ikea. This was very thorough and I got mine installed with no problems.
Hey man I think I put the mounting bracket on wrong and tightened it to much. I think i bent the pins in my Asus Prime Z490 Motherboard as I am not getting a POST. Any suggestions?
This video helped me 10000000x more than the stupid instructions that were in the box. Thanks! My CPU temp went from 100F to 150F (when I took out stock fan and removed thermal paste by mistake) to 80F with this cooling tower. Took me like 2 hours to install but worth it!!!! 🙂

Any suggestions?
uh, you broke it?
If it is a Phenom, AM2 or AM3 or AM3+ then yes. Checkout the spec list on New Egg it lists all of the chips it works with.
76f is about 25c so a 6 degree delta (31-25) is just fine. You have no problems. Your chip is cooling fine.
This video helped me 10000000x more than the stupid instructions that were in the box. Thanks! My CPU temp went from 100F to 150F (when I took out stock fan and removed thermal paste by mistake) to 80F with this cooling tower. Took me like 2 hours to install but worth it!!!! 🙂
YES! Finally, someone using an anti-static wrist strap!
Yes all look good. 3570k is an excellent chip , great performance and not crazy expensive.
Thanks i fucked up in the thing between the heat sink and the screw i did not have them in the middle and i bended it a bit now its fixed now that i know that there weir 3 slots THANKS A LOT, Now i know thats its not gonna destroy it self
Depends on your case. It it has a CPU back plate cutout you should be able to install it without removing the motherboard.
