My husband and I always greeted the arrival of a new vid from you with "yay, a CEE, let's watch," no matter the time. He died in Sept. last year, but I still watch, as it was me who found you! Great stuff, he would have loved it. Such great welding and care with the internal threading! Thanks for the quality of your work Karen, fascinating as always. Cheers from NZ.
Sorry for your loss deems. Sounds like the two of you knew how to spend some quality time together. We'll all be here to watch with you. Many Prayers for you. Thomas, Mississippi, USA!
This is the *only* channel I know of on TH-cam that actually depicts the day to day workings of a *real* shop. Can't believe you have not cracked 1 million subs yet.
We the subs need to get them to a million been saying it for past few months we have to share and tell friends to sub to get them to the million mark they deserve it more then any other TH-cam channel
I wanted to drop a note here to tell you how much I have appreciated your videos these past few months. I just lost my nephew to cancer after a five month battle. When I needed something to distract me, I watched your content. I watched all the old stuff, rewatched just about everything, and looked forward to the new stuff. I am not trying to get sympathy, as some might think. I just wanted you to know that you made a difference in my life, and I appreciate it.
I'm so glad you added that bit at the end of it, finally, in the forklift working. It's so satisfying to watch u build it then show us it in action after it's all completed 😁
I’m in Louisville Kentucky. Dropped some cylinder rods off at a machine shop and asked the guy if he ever watched machinists on TH-cam. He says “There’s this Australian couple and their goofy dog!”
if you can marvel at the wonders of today's CNC machines, then you've got to appreciate what this man does with his "old school" computer "his brain". This is art.
Couldn't agree with you more mate 👌 i did my apprenticeship in manual machine work and first job after apprenticeship was in a CNC machine factory, did it for a year and left to go back on to manual machining 😂🤙🏴
That’s exactly what it is he diagnosed it saw the problem made the part better made a new barrel and all of that in one workday holy shit that is some bad ass shit right there I don’t care what you say
Kurtis, you abilities just blow me away what you did in one day but you improved the OEM and did it all looks awesome but I got handed to Karen the editing at the end when he was painting both sides at the same time there was two Kurtis painting the part at the same time that was awesome. That really was keep up the good work love the video you made my day !!!!! 😃
I was just thinking the same thing, that it would be awesome to periodically see the repaired parts in use on the machine (if your customer is OK with that), especially if it's an 'unusual' one like this steer cylinder.
Thank you very much for another great video. I love the content and according to my wife it’s the only thing on TH-cam I don’t fall asleep on within 5 minutes when watching in bed. Keep it coming!
may have made a minor mistake but you saved it not through luck but through knowing your job and checking Everything at each stage of the job ! this is one of the things that makes you a good machinist.
I've wondered the same thing. Somehow or other Kurtis has managed to obtain about 80 years of knowledge and experience. I'm starting to think he must be immortal and doesn't age! 😂
Excellent weld job on the cylinder mounts Brother! The rubber chicken never gets old to Homey. Thanks to you and Karen for all the great lessons and amazing camera work. Take care of each other and stay safe. Thomas, Mississippi, USA!!
Hey Kurtis, Pat from northern Canada hear! I’ve been doing pretty much the exact same kind of shop work as you for the last 14 years so I very much appreciate someone having such great videos and showing off the trade! After years of watching your content I’ve come to notice that you don’t test your re-built cylinders. I would highly recommend it! I know your work is good quality but you are human, and sometimes all it takes is one bad product to change the reputation of your company. It would also add another layer to the content and knowledge you have in your videos. Hope this is useful lol much love from your neighbours in Canada and keep up the great work. Cheers!
Thanks for showing the world an error, it makes us mere mortals feel human again! Great channel and great content, waiting with baited breath on the crane project!!!!
All's well that ends well guys 🎉 Kurtis is a master at working it out too, happy days, I remember the old verticle honing machine, loved that old girl, bloody good show, and thanks for sharing, keep up the good work , lots of love to you and yours Ralfy
It's absolutely insane to me that this channel doesn't have more subs.. At the very least it's so soothing to watch the progress of a machinists trade from start to finish on the day to day.
Karen, you always do a great job of filming. Kurtis, you do an amazing job with your work. Very enjoyable to watch. Always look forward to a new video. Bryan from Kansas, USA
I can't believe i stay up on Thursday nights to watch someone chew away metal to make great things on Friday mornings. I'm a computer engineer in Cleveland Ohio. This isn't even my field of work. I love this. I consider Kurtis, Karen & Homie family. I need therapy but i truly find this fascinating and relaxing at the same time.
Yeah, there's another loonie up here in Canada near the east end of Lake Ontario. Anybody else pick up on the bling wheels and tires on the Franna crane? Looks like someone made the nice list this season. lol
Diddo! Electronics Engineer in NY, never held a welder in my hand nor done anything remotely close to this type of work! Been subbed pre-50k so now I’m invested! (Btw, Karen’s editing, camera placement & angles, Timelapses, etc are unique and she has her own style and it works so well! Not going to leave Curtis out cuz he is a master of his craft, in fact I have learned so much from him…. I definitely want my own welder and milling machine just to build things for myself. The biggest tease each week is the crane sitting in the background, I really want to see more of it so I just wait patiently! lol Happy Friday all!!!
Your mates must love you! All I can say is impressive; I have been watching you for sometime and your ability to handle both small and large jobs is without question all I can say is well done and watch your health, best wishes Owen.
From the US here. I worked most my life as a journeyman machine repair and millwright, I would have lived to work with you on projects. You sir are the best repairman I have seen, and I have seen alot, even better than the Germans I have worked with. Great video 😊 one if the best but it seems they always get better.
I like the split screen😊 a lot❤ Showing what Kurtis is doing with the lathe is great because I've suggested my nephew who is getting into machining to see what happens in a real shop on CEE and HAL 😊 Absolutely love the camera work Karen❤❤❤
It was a real treat to see the part made in action on the machine. I am not a machinist but i do appreciate the technical aspect of the work involved. Love the videos
I just want to say that this is my favorite channel period. The content, the camera, the progression, editing is superb. Uh "superb" is pretentious, bad word. Anyhoo, let me get on with my post. I watch, I critique, I mumble "he didn't see that" or "he should do this first". All this commentary on my part, but Kurtis proves me an amateur in front of my my brother. This diatribe might sound stupid from somebody who is simply in awe, but I am not simply entertained, I am amazed by somebody (camera woman included) with deep knowledge of a skill that let's the rest of us try to catch up. Thank you.
Your weekly videos make Fridays worth getting up for. Watching you work puts me in awe of your skills. And every time I think Karen is at the top of her game, she simply tops it again. Noticed a few new video tricks that I'd not seen before. Incredible work by both of you. What a team..!! 🥰
Boy, you had to be fast to catch that overlap. I missed it the first time around and watched the end again to catch all but about three "frames" of both a "left" and a "right" Kurtis. A mistake by Karen too? Nah! Must have been intentional!
Great video Karen! I always love watching Kurtis at work, his engineering skills are second to none! It was great to see the cylinder installed and function at the end. It's not always possible I know but it would be lovely to see more short snippets of the components installed and working after repair, very satisfying! ☺
Great video. Lovely cinematography with the perfect smoke rings when the 8mm drill for the oil ports emerged in the tube ID and the curtain of oil in the honing machine. Beautiful! (edited typo)
Really good quality filming, and easy to understand each step of the rebuild. I have a much better understanding of function of the cylinder and what is required to fabricate them. I’m surprised Homeys Crock lasted as long as it did, he loves that Crock !
48:50 How to make what might have been a bit of a prick of a job (with the risk of damaging something) look easy. Always a pleasure to watch you work, and I rarely leave without learning something.
got to enjoy this in the comfort of my bed 23 min after posting but am watching again i been waiting for tl you make it better than new his as usual loved the close up of welding and adding extra o ring those are what sets you apart
Hi there hope you are doing well, as every Friday the day starts with the last vid from my favorite channel, today was different because as I started the video my little princess opened her eyes, so.... Of course it was a great time playing and shouting, but back to the video. As always it is a pleasure.🎉🎉🎉 From Constantine Algeria
I seem to learn something about machining every time I watch you run a machine!!! I had never considered when threading only engage the half nuts one time and put the lathe in reverse to backup and reset the tool for the next pass. Great job on reproducing the steering cylinder better than original.
Like the cylinder upgrades, amazes me that they are not standard. A trick we use to keep DROs and displays like the one on you hone clean is to cover them in plastic wrap. Easy to replace. Might take a try at different brands that are available at your grocery store to find one that sticks nicely. But handy and easily refreshed. Looking forward to more crane restoration.
That was some top notch work on the cylinder last week. I couldn’t imagine how you were going to dissemble it, and I was pretty amazed at watching you do it. The metal galling wasn’t something I’d ever considered before and wow is it ever destructive 😮 🥰 Fingers crossed by the end of the 2020’s the Frenna Crane Project will be almost finished 😂😂 Please hug Homeless for me and all my best to you, Karen and the gang ❤
Another great video guys! It's good to see the reality of a working shop - you show the problems and their solutions. I'm sure your customer will be very happy with his replacement steering cylinder.
Kurt's, I found Matt from Hal heavy duty machining site and he is doing some impressive big drill stuff. I have watched many of his videos in the past few weeks and in three of his videos, he actually mentions you and Karen. It's cool to know other machinists appreciate your work.
yeah, i’ve seen a couple of his videos and he gives a positive shoutout to @CuttingEdgeEngineering on the videos he’s also mentioned that there might be a possible collaboration with CEE in the future
Mate it's always a pleasure watching you work. It's always decent value to your customers which you clearly care about and not just for business reasons. You get stuck into it and crack on mate and that's a beautiful thing. It's blokes like you who give me faith that not all human beings suck. Thanks for that, cheers!
Curtis, I just love watching your skill, craftsmanship, and care you put into all your work. I can see why your customers are lucky to have you to support them. Hey from the USA!
I used to work with a lot of skilled tradies, watching your channel fills the empty space. I am currently watching from the start of your channel and enjoying the heck out of it. Thanks.
Great video as always and tons of respect for leaving the portion where you show your oversight of the ID measurement for the gland, most channels would edit that out and act like it never happen. Just another reason we appreciate your content so much!
Another real world recovery for dimensional differences....Karen, the split screen, time lapse and slow motion shots are great. Special bonus, got to see the cylinder installed and working? Thanks for sharing.
Well another great video. Thank you Karen for your hard work, keeping up with Homey and Kurtis. I love to watch when you say " where is he. " You all have a good day. Another Texan.
Really nice to see how dedicate you work. Great to learn from your video’s and see how well experienced you are! Kind regards from the Netherlands, Rob
The mark of a TRUE Engineer: "I can 'upgrade' this!" Always fun to come up with something the original designer didn't think of (or the bean counters wouldn't let them do)!
So glad you showed a clip of it working at the end, I was just thinking I need to see it all back together, and there it was! My day is officially fulfilled 😁

great trick putting that piston seal on using the o ring to pull it on. i will have to try that next time i need that.
Wow! That footage from the final test on a machine was awesome! Please add such moments when possible.

Nice idea for local customers. Australia is a huge place and CEE has jobs from all over.

Curtis, I just love watching your skill, craftsmanship, and care you put into all your work. I can see why your customers are lucky to have you to support them. Hey from the USA!
if the part is not up to Kurtis’ standards then it will be raised to those standards before it leaves the shop
Just one word describes you perfectly: Maestro . I admire you Sir!
Wow, thank you!
i agree, Kurtis is THE Metal Maestro and his skills are outstanding and precise

Great video Kurtis and thanks for the honesty with your little error (forgiven). Once again great camera work from Karen. Thanks CEE
Another real world recovery for dimensional differences....Karen, the split screen, time lapse and slow motion shots are great. Special bonus, got to see the cylinder installed and working? Thanks for sharing.
As always guys, fabulous, fabulous, fabulous
Great to see this succeed and operating in the finished product!
Better than factory by putting extra seals to avoid moisture getting in !!! Love it.
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good! Great videos mate.
Look forward to your videos all the time! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers for watching, glad you enjoy them!
The only channel where I miss the ability to give more than one thumbs up.
Thanks for sharing your work!
Greetings from Switzerland
You can, but you have to do it in odd quantities only.
As always a pleasure to watch your skill Kurtis and your amazing videography Karen and your H & S officer Homey😊😊
Another great video and job. It always surprises me when Kurt says how little time it has taken to do the work 👍
Another cool shot from Karen inside the bore. That blanket of smoke was awesome once you punched through. Nice job as always you two. 🎉
So glad you machined an O-Ring groove on cylinder to seal gland. Now it better than manufactured. Great work. 👍🏻
A touch of CEE ❤GOES A LONG WAY😊
The silicone bronze on the piston also makes it better than new, much lower chance of it picking up on the cylinder and causing damage.
The mark of a TRUE Engineer: "I can 'upgrade' this!" Always fun to come up with something the original designer didn't think of (or the bean counters wouldn't let them do)!
@@PhilG999 make a steering cylinder many times better than one from the factory (and probably lasts a whole lot longer than a factory cylinder)

Fantastic rebuild, as usual. Thanks for taking us along and giving me a reason not to go out in the cold and work!
Woop Woop! Part 2! I have been waiting to see how you resurrect that cylinder.
Absolutely like what Kurtis is able to do. He is a master craftsman in my opinion, thank you ,from Wyoming USA
Man that cylinder honing machine is hypnotic when in action. I could watch that thing all day.
It's probably the repeated thrusting...
Even better after a few cones hahahaha
An awesome piece of equipment for the shop.
With the forbidden Vegemite.

0:13 😂😂😂 love the use of the pallet to make the grand entrance at the start of your presentation.
Proper job done, thanks for sharing guys, have a great weekend.
Thanks, you too!
Love that you guys show the results mishaps and all😋!
Fabulous workmanship from both sides of the camera.
Great way to start a Friday morning.
No matter how many times I watch your videos, your work always amazes me. Keep it up.
Cheers! We're glad you enjoy watching. 😊
My favourite part is the whole damn thing, It's good to watch a true tradesman at work. Great content well presented and edited by Karen. Cheers Billo
Thanks heaps Billo, really appreciate the support!
So glad you showed a clip of it working at the end, I was just thinking I need to see it all back together, and there it was! My day is officially fulfilled 😁
