  • ( www.TFLtruck.com ) The 2014 Chevy Silverado is a tough truck, at least that's what the Chevrolet commercial say. But is it tough enough to take on the Colorado Rocky Mountains? In another fun and informative TFLcar quick take review Nathan takes the newest Chevy Silverado the TFL test trail just outside of Boulder, Colorado. So how good is the new 2014 Chevy Silverado when the pavement turns rocky and rough. You'll have to watch this video to find out.

    Who ever is stupid enough to confuse the switches, shouldn't even own a truck.

      Not to mention the fact that the computer won't allow it to shift into 4LO until the speed of the truck is safe to do so. And you rarely if ever even have to touch the headlight knob on this truck.

    Nice review I have a 2wd Z71 Silverado and love it, atleast as far a highway, I think its the smoothest ride out there of full size pickups.

      xxThrillKillzxX no its 2wd, like the Z71 cause of the shocks but don't do any off roading so didn't really need the 4wd.

    Power Wagon package- 12,000 lb warn winch , 456 gears , locks front and rear, rock rails skid plates front to rear, sway bar disconnect , 32" of wheel travel. Oh yeah it's got HD shocks too.

  • @lockdownrocks
    @lockdownrocks 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If you want more off-road capabilities, don't get the extended or even worse the crew cab. That makes every change in terrain come even closer to the underside. You can call those tires anything you want but they are street tires. Put some real tires on it, take that front valance and running boards off and you have a decent off-road vehicle.

  • @Ted_Stryker
    @Ted_Stryker 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Power Wagon all day. Raptors are good for going fast on dirt tracks and in mud, but they're not as good at getting through the really tough stuff and being a real truck when it matters.

  • @NathanDAdlen
    @NathanDAdlen 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Chevy is better, especially given the tires, ride height, locking diff and suspension. The Denali did much better than I expected, but it was not a happy truck. The main thing holding back the Chevy was the low-hanging chin and side steps.

  • @zdresser

    You people complaining about ground clearance are funny, the Ram sit 8 inches from the ground without side steps. Plus the government forces them to make it lower so if they hit a car, it doesn't roll over it.

    Honestly there are a few basic upgrades ANY 4x4 truck should get within a year or two of it being purchased.
    A winch and winch bumper, a minimum of a 4inch lift, AT tires, full 4x4 lockers, skid plates and a better air filter.
    It may sound like a lot but that basic kit will help keep you out of more trouble than you can think of.

  • @lwatcdr
    @lwatcdr 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    The off-roaders on here are so funny. No you do not want more stock ground clearance because it will make the truck terrible on road for the average user. We all know real hard core off roaders will put in a lift kit and bigger tires. For the average users this is more then good enough.

    That was a laughably poor review. You give no details about the engine, available power, interior (besides the sarcastic advice not to mix up the headlight and 4wd controls), and don't give any sort of context or value to your underbody shots. The terrain you chose to test on was a poor choice as well, as it was just a hard-packed dirt road (not much different than pavement) with a few small rocks you had to aim to hit, and likely couldn't even tell when you did. Unless you, Nathan, are the full staff and crew of The Fast Lane, I would suggest a change of personalities and practices, because these videos are boring and uninformative, and could be so much more. I enjoy the sheer number of vehicles you test, I think you just need to go more in depth with them. And you spend an inordinate amount of time in all your tests talking about the tires, when they don't require nearly that much exposition. Hope this helps you retain some viewership!

    I figure the fancy trucks will be used off road almost as much as my wife's Explorer is- which would be never. I realize that the manufacturer is giving the buyers what they think they want. It is still a shame to see a tough truck being transformed into a metrosexual poseur. This is why I particularly enjoy Nathan and Roman treating and testing it like what is is supposed to be not what it is "prettied" up to be.
