  • ( www.TFLtruck.com ) The 2014 Chevy Silverado High Country pickup truck with the new 6.2L V8 is the most powerful light duty pickup that you can buy today. With 420 HP and 460 lb-ft the new High end Chevy essentially shares the same engine as the new Chevy Corvette. That means that it should not only be powerful but also fast. In another fun and informative TFLtruck video, Roman finds out just how fast the new Chevrolet Silverado will go from 0-60 MPH in this impromptu and First Drive Performance Review.

    GM should offer the 6.2 in the Regular cab, standard box, two-wheel-drive, work truck configuration. Couple that with the triangle window steel wheels, and this thing would be a total sleeper, but still super practical.

    Thanks for your comment. We really appreciate it. We asked Roman and he says you may want to let GM know this fact because the Silverado's head drivetrain engineer that Roman interviewed was under the impression that this is essentially the same engine as in the Vette.

    I was DEAD SET on getting a 2014 Ram 1500 Sport Crew Cab and loved it when I drove it. I took 3 test drives, one was a really long 2 hour drive. Until 2 days ago when I test drove a loaded Silverado 1500 with the 6.2. Well, I've changed my mind, think I'm gonna go with the 6.2 Silverado now! It was a much nicer ride, better quality interior and had much more punch when I floored it. And the inside is so quiet. I especially loved when I totally blew past an F-150 when the light turned green even though he buried his pedal first lol Once I noticed he wanted to go, I floored it and passed him with ease.

I've had it tuned and it blows anything out of the water by several car lengths. Mine is a supercrew 4x4 and I toasted a Hemi 2wd reg cab who was tuned with loud-ass muffler to boot. It was hilarious. Got 4 lengths ahead and he slowed down and turned off the road. lol Twin turbo chargers for the win!

    Yes the engine is not the LT1 but it is the new gen 5 motor which is closely related to the Gen V small-block V-8 in the new Chevy Corvette. Both are aluminum-block eights with 6.2 liters of displacement. Both feature cylinder deactivation and direct fuel injection, and both make north of 400 horses. Also it features the same 11.5 compression ratio. For all entended purposes and as explained by Chev exectives, it is the same engine as the corvette with a few ajustments to serve for truck duty.

    there are 3 different LT1 generations the first original LT-1 was used in 1970-1972 in various corvettes and camaros, then the gen II small block there's the LT1 used in the 92-96 vette, 94-97 Camaro also an all aluminum version called the LT4 and a unrelated twin cam 32v engine called the LT5 in the 90-95 ZR-1 corvette, all these displaced 5.7L, the new LT1 is a Generation V small block, the LS3 is a gen IV small block, the man in the video is saying the ecotec3 6.2 is related to the new LT1

    I'm just making assumptions here but I think that it's the same block design as the corvette, but with a different camshaft setup and tuning. You look at the Corvette and in that application it makes the same 460 lbs/ft of torque, but it also red lines around 7000 rpm. This truck likely tops out at about 5500-5800 rpm. It's tuned for lower end torque for towing but let's be honest I'm sure they did this to give the Tundra a run for it's money.

  • @NordicNevs
    @NordicNevs 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Being the honest type, I can say that I do have a chevy in the background of my Harley pic (not mine) and I have not yet heard one with my ears (not that there aren't a few out there) that I have not liked. I will agree that Chevy has always made a good motor. Favorite motor built is the chevy 350, when talking relatively older motors. As far as your turbo comments I am sure that with a turbo it would be an entirely different animal. The 6.2 will be a good motor I am sure.
