After owning this truck since it came out it’s been one of the best vehicles I’ve ever been in and never has let me down. Can’t speak for every owner of this truck but man I love it even to this day. Good job Chevy
@@ivandiazrduboiz2302 yes indeed. Chevy l96 whatever transmission is not the best but it’ll last at least in my case. Just has a funky shift from 2nd to 3rd gear but Chevy techs told me that’s normal of that transmission.
I look back at my 2014 EVERY time I walk away.....it just looks so perfect as a Double Cab White WT with black 18s on 32s and black grille and bumpers with blacked out windows.
Stephen looked so young without the beard. The man knows his stuff, if you didn't know he is on truck king with his dad and their probably the best truck channel on TH-cam...cough cough better than the now bragging channel TFLtrucks.
all jokes aside I like this guys reviews, i ve seen a few of them now and he seems to knock off the important points people want to know about the vehicles, without bias, really well. So, let that belly fly! your doing a great job!
Alrighty. Let's begin. My dad's company runs 16 Ecoboosts, some with near 200,000 miles of hard work. I've had mine on the dyno and the WHP and WTQ numbers are the equivelant of any truck's parasitic loss. Tune it, and you get ridiculous power numbers. Mine has a 93 octane tune and it's pushing 450 ft lbs of torque at the wheels (as well as 22 mpg). For the record, I had a 2009 Silverado 4x4 5.3L and had endless electrical issues. Finally got rid of it. 90,000 miles on my Eco and zero issues.
The displacements are the same but these in fact are 3 totally new redesigned engines which incorporates, as he mentioned, cylinder deactivation, variable valve timing, and direct injection. Prior models did not feature all three of these technologies in one engine.
You have to understand, pickup trucks serve a wide range of ages and varying physical abilities. Just because you're 18 and have no problem making that step, your grandfather isn't quite that agile as he once was.
What exactly are you comparing it to? I don't ever recall an engine gaining much more than 40hp with the addition of direct injection, this is a fine gain for a conservatively tuned engine. And I don't get your logic, mpg doesn't matter because it goes down when towing? Wouldn't you rather it be better just so it isn't as bad when towing then? And don't forget this the midlevel engine, move up to the 6.2 if you want more power.
Hopefully the Chevy MyLink system does not have all of the issues that the Ford My Touch system has had. People are pretty frustrated with the system and subsequent so called updates.
After buiding a 2014 in the LT trim on Chevy's website, this looks like it's going to be a great work truck. The street princesses can keep all of the chrome that comes in a LTZ trim level. Best review out of Knibbe by far. Great job!
Also by the way, majority of LZ model and below, you will NOT get the projector beam light but only the old bulb light . Projector beam is not standard in their Silverado.
I test drove one of these, the power like he said wasnt good and the brakes were spongy. Great to sit in probably the most comfy truck i've ever sat in and drove but even the suspension lacked in my opinion, when u can grab the box and give it a shake and whole truck moves around like the shocks r worn out it makes u wonder. Love the look of it though, very nice looking truck
There's something off about that Tundra-shuttle video. The displacement is too great for a motor like the Tundra's. But, if a Tundra can do it, an F150, Ram, or Silverado can do it better.
Yeah, because horsepower and torque immediately determines the winner, right? Wrong. The 5.0 makes 360 hp and 380 lb ft of torque. The 5.3 liter in the Chevy makes 355 hp and 383 lb ft of torque. So they are very close in both categories, but contrary to what you said, the Chevy makes more torque. Silverado 0-60: 6.7 seconds F-150: 7.1 seconds
tbh trubo vs n/a is gonna have a tab better low end, or be easier to get the power where its needed.. as for the 8500 being the sweet spot... my 2003 5.3 has pulled 10500 without a wobble(of course over the manufacturers recommendations) so this truck should have a problem
If you need a work truck, the WT reg cabs will be out this fall for under 25,000. There is a reason why GM produces LTZ's first. People are buying those units.
@THEFALLOFSONY. By losing 750 lbs. off the truck, and putting things like the shutters shown on the concept which reduces drag and makes the truck more fuel efficient.
Dodge has already announced a 25 mpg v6. They also announced their 30 mpg diesel motor. What im saying is they have to meet the deadline for fuel efficiency by 2025. Ram is making a leap. Ford is going to shed off 750 lbs. off the next f-150. They already stated the 5.0 motor and ecoboost engines are capable of 400 hp. GM "just" made their new silverado with 1 mpg better than the f-150 and their outgoing truck is heavier than the previous model it replaced.
Great reveiw. The torque issue is a deal breaker for me. I'm going to have to wait and see the reveiw on the big V-8. I'm leaning toward the Ford Eco-Boost 4x4. But this 2014 Chevy interior is really nice.
This kid in the video was a bit clueless. First, 5 USB ports? Get 5 guys with smart phones in your truck for along haul and you'll need every one of them. Also, to get more torque for towing light loads, you just order with the higher ratio rear end. Then you'll get all the torque to the wheels you need. Any truck owner should know that. Maybe if he'd spend more time trucking and less eating...
GM will never put a TTV6 into their trucks, they said so themselves. The base V6 competes with Ram's 3.6 and Ford's 3.7, not the Ecoboost. The 5.3 competes with the Ecoboost (not really, it's way down on power vs the Ecoboost) and Ram's Hemi. I'm sorry, but GM fell this time around. You sacrifice MPG for power by getting the new 6.2 to even come close to the power & towing dynamics of the Ecoboost. You get the best of both worlds with the Eco.
In other words, i'm not trying to beat on GM but they could have done more on the redesign, the mpg and on the power. I see people down here take out more than 400hp on a 5.3 easily. These motors are capable of more than just a 50 hp increase.
I like the truck but 350hp isn't enough for a DI system they could come up with more hp and still have a good mpg , Ford, Toyota and dodge have more hp , mpg in a truck doesn't matter because when you're loaded you get the real mpg I personally modified my trucks with cams , exhaust, gears if I need to and tune by sanoli but thanks gm for giving us a 5.3 350hp instead of a 5.7 400hp direct injection
@camaroman101... I thought they were already working on the 9 and 10 speeds transmissions? Im saying when GM did there new look wasn't it 2007. Ford changed their body style 2009. That's 2 years.
I really like these trucks, but all these bells and whistles we're getting on them nowadays is completely unnecessary. I mean $50,000 for a half ton pickup is getting ridiculous. Give me a stripped down, bare-bones pickup, that's really all I want. Hell, I'd buy a 60s or 70s C10 if they still made them, they were REAL trucks.
Something I'd like to see on the new pickups is a real bumper. My family had a '91 silverado for a long time with a beastly steel bumper in the rear that would take all kinds of abuse like running down small trees and such. Heck, they used to mount the towing hitch on it! Now we've got a '09 silverado and I feel like it came out of the bottom of a cereal box with all that plastic and flimsy chrome.
After owning this truck since it came out it’s been one of the best vehicles I’ve ever been in and never has let me down. Can’t speak for every owner of this truck but man I love it even to this day. Good job Chevy
Do u have a 6 speed automatic?
@@ivandiazrduboiz2302 yes indeed. Chevy l96 whatever transmission is not the best but it’ll last at least in my case. Just has a funky shift from 2nd to 3rd gear but Chevy techs told me that’s normal of that transmission.
This guy just sold me. Great review man. Great truck. Still the heartbeat of America.
You look like the kid from bad santa!!!!
Watching in 2018. I wish the Silverado still had this body style
Best body style in my opinion
I look back at my 2014 EVERY time I walk away.....it just looks so perfect as a Double Cab White WT with black 18s on 32s and black grille and bumpers with blacked out windows.

Bought mine 2014 still have it to this day so far it’s at 176k miles still is a rock

Autoguide really needs to use this guy more! Great job, this guy did a great job reviewing the awesome new 2014 chevy Silverado!
This truck was great and looks so much better than the 2019
I feel the same, I'm getting a 2015 because the ones newer than 2015 are ugly.
Dillon Hawkins how is it so far?
seen one today on the road, it looked amazing. I drifted out of my lane looking at it.
Great review. I happen to like the new front style, mostly because it isn't new at all. It's a throwback to the GM trucks of the past.
Hills...what hills? A real workmens truck shouldnt cost $51k. Great review. I would like to see the new tundra as well.
Like a rock baby! Fantastic truck! Truck = tool chev = right tool for the job. It gets it done every single time!
all jokes aside I like this guys reviews, i ve seen a few of them now and he seems to knock off the important points people want to know about the vehicles, without bias, really well. So, let that belly fly! your doing a great job!

Well GM has not given any official figures for the v6 yet, some websites may be making predictions but nothing is official yet.
That front looks sick!

Great review. Covered most of the bases for this type review. Just ordered one !
Hopefully the Chevy MyLink system does not have all of the issues that the Ford My Touch system has had. People are pretty frustrated with the system and subsequent so called updates.
Oh ya. Great review! Some of these guys who wright negative comments, have never even been in front of a camara. It is harder than it looks!
when unloading hay alone, that extra 3" is alot.
man i cant wait until the lease is up on my equinox. this is my next vehicle thats for sure. gorgeous.

Same here dude, the new front ends on these trucks are sweeeeeet!
my 2012 f150 5.o liter is 360 hp. The 2012 silverado 5.3 liter is 320 hp. F 150 outsold silverado again in 2012. what do you mean by "out do"?
Also by the way, majority of LZ model and below, you will NOT get the projector beam light but only the old bulb light . Projector beam is not standard in their Silverado.
My wife's first house didn't cost $50,000. I'm a Chevy guy, but they're REALLY proud of their truck!
I test drove one of these, the power like he said wasnt good and the brakes were spongy. I don't quite understand hill decent. Seems unnecessary imo. You got brakes, use them.
The front end looks like Clark Griswald's family car. Are you singing Holiday Road yet? Square wheel wells...Ain't nobody got time for that.
He does bring up a good point with the intergrated bumper step. I think I prefer that to Fords pullout step that can break. Great video!
2014 LT Z71 Trim should be a monster especially if u upgrade it to the 5.3 V8.
There's something off about that Tundra-shuttle video. The displacement is too great for a motor like the Tundra's. But, if a Tundra can do it, an F150, Ram, or Silverado can do it better.
This guy is doing well great review, much better than most of your other personalities.

Love this truck! Won't LOOK at a GMC Sierra after having seen this truck in person
What's with these new trucks and all that fucking chrome
lol the intro!!:)
Losing 750 lbs was a high guess and that was if the new F150 went all aluminum which now Ford claims there not doing.
The 4.3 out does the four letter "F" word's EC0-boost. For towing, fuel economy, and Towing!!! Way to go CHEVY!!!!
Halo headlights aren’t good honestly but looks like a great truck!
cant wait to see how this competes w/ the 2014 tundra
Great reveiw. The torque issue is a deal breaker for me. I'm going to have to wait and see the reveiw on the big V-8. I'm leaning toward the Ford Eco-Boost 4x4. But this 2014 Chevy interior is really nice.
Love my 2014 LT Ralley 2 edition. Just wish GM didn't love putting chrome on everything!
Odd how theres no 2015 review just 2014 and it then it skips curious as to why

Haaaters! This is a beast of a truck way better than the f-150
Great review man. Way better than roman the car guy. You told me everything i wanted to know about the truck.
It gets it out of the way. It's better to have some useful space and storage within easy reach than a shifter.
In other words, i'm not trying to beat on GM but they could have done more on the redesign, the mpg and on the power. I see people down here take out more than 400hp on a 5.3 easily. These motors are capable of more than just a 50 hp increase.
faster? my f150 5.0 has more horsepower and torque than the larger 5.3 chevy. how is the silverado faster? with lower rear axle ratio?

Great review from eloquent presenter.
when did thurman murman start doing truck reviews?
Oh lawd LOL!!!!
They have other engines like the 6.0L and 6.2L They both have more torque and the 6.2L will be available for the 1500 series just like pasted years.

im a die hard ford guy but the new silverrados look a hell of alot better than the new fords.
Whats the maximum towing capacity of the 2014 Silverado 1500 5.3 3.42 axle ratio?
Is that Steve Hammes's voice at the end?
I'm a toyota guy, but this is a nice truck

And what's up with the air-dam hangin only 3 inches off the ground on a Z71 "offroad" edition - REALLY?
I see they copied Toyota with the tailgate dampener. Its a really nice truck though. Way better than the last model.
Good truck had a 04 lifted drove the hell out of that truck..I'm debating this or new f150
at the beginning of the video it show his name as: Stephen Elmer. and yes, he's good

Im buying one this Monday 1/27/2020
check out the WT trim package.
