- ( www.TFLcar.com ) The new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado has has three new engine choices but perhaps the most popular one will be the 5.3L Ecotec V8. The new all aluminum block engine is rated at 355 horsepower and 383 ft-lb. That's a good deal of power and it allows the new Chevrolet Silverado to tow about 11,000 thousand pounds. It is also fairly fuel efficient and gets an EPA rated 16 MPG in the city and 22 on the highway. Of course when we got our hands on it we immediately wanted to know just how fast the new Silverado pickup will go from 0-60 MPH. In another fun and informative TFLcar real world performance test we find out if the new Chevy Silverado is a rocket or not.

Good job being one of the 1st to test it. No bad performance of considering it's the heavy 4door LTZ model with the most options and mid level engine. Still a good looking truck too even though they didn't try to revolutionize the looks.
Looks good!! I am really liking these new Silverados. I am looking forward to your review.
10 years of innovation and still slower than my 2004 Titan!!
I am a big fan of your videos ........ was that the 5.3 engine ??
Thanks for this awesome video and looking forward for the review
Oh i appreciate it to Roman i watch all your car videos. How did it feel compared to last model, do you actually feel the extra power. Thanks.
I Literally just got on to you tube to see if you guys had any new movies... and to my surprise!!!
dont stop the fabulous 0/60mph!!!!!!!! thankssssss!!!! from Argentinaaaa!!! Thankssss!!!
Have you guys driven the new 4.3 V6? I'm wondering if it feels a lot more viable because it has so much more power than last year's V6
Thanks for watching. The full Siverado review will be published later today.
Yup, under ideal condition on a drag strip, with one gallon of gas and a 120 pound pro driver, the optimal gear ratio for 0-60 MPH...it will go much faster. But we do real world testing and we get real world results. We think many of our readers and viewers appreciate this fact.
I'd like to see what the 6.2 liter can do in the 2WD single cab regular bed....
hey Roman can you do a comparison video of the all new trucks chevy, ford, gmc, toyota?
Good video
Wonderful track...
سيارة رائعة...
In fact if I appreciate very much, and I thank you in heart, however, as one of the world's automobile fanatic and in my case very fan of GM pickups we love to see Max capacity of all vehicles, the real world and the world of competition so I could do both tests for both worlds and all types of readers we will be even more satisfied than we are with the excellent work they do.
Where in the Hill Country is this taking place? Is it near Boerne/Comfort, Bulverde, or New Braunfels?
Chevy
Has GM Given a date when the 2014's will be on the lots
I went to the local dealer to order one and they didn't have any information to help me
This review was done with a 5.3L.. I want to see the 6.2L
Roman,.what rearend ratio did it have?
@romanmicagearguy I have heard cnet cars using same music you use. What's up with that?
Hey roman!!!! I just saw a new Volvo S60 commercial and they used your quote!! They had in fine print at the bottom "Quote from TFLcar.com" you should really check it out I thought it was pretty cool!!
I know theres a feature somewhere on the new display tht u can use for the 0-60 time. Why didn't he use tht?
When will we be able to see the "Review"?
I couldn't agree more with you.
@Sudz it isn't mile high! It is in San Antonio this time, not the usual Colorado. So 8.78 is the actual time.
how did you like that blue?
What's the code for the color blue ???
i do appreciate it
Just seen one here at the dealership in ga.
Why do these new trucks still have the old school antennas
Glad someone agrees. Thankfully I think that chrome grill is just an option.
Wow that is fast! My dad just bought a Raptor and we have a blast in it! For his Birthday me and my Brother are going to take to to Hennessy and upgrade it to the Velociraptor! I think it pushing almost 700hp! Now that will for sure haul ass! :)
What's the gear ratio?
Good pickup! Only reason I would not get one of theses is the missing ground clearance.
very true
Overall I like it, as of now. I want to see what the new 2500s look like.
@Mrpew17 You got that right. My ecoboost flies.... love it!!!
UG UG GUGLLL!!😭
Well that's good. And not only do I think there's too much chrome from a superficial standpoint, but it also is more difficult to clean than some surfaces. For instance, for people that do a lot of highway driving, having a matte finish on the grill can make it a lot easier to remove bugs and other contaminants. Chrome does just the opposite.
Good video Roman, but please throw in some details. You mention a big engine but no displacement or power numbers. Also it's a big truck, but no curb weight.
rearend?
Is that the 5.3 or the 6.2
Chevy making cool cars lately. I think Chevy has learned it's lesson.
Chevy really know how to make a nice engine!
Do a video of a VW GLI!!!
More Chevy!! woop woop!
Did he give it some gas from the second launch?
I never Say This About About Trucks. But DAMN This Truck Is Beautiful And Fast. Goodjob Chevy.
Roman- 1:10-1:17, "This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. This is only a test."
I want that Chevy emblem off that building!
Where's today's video?!!
THE OLD VIDEOS DON'T HAVE MUCH COMMENTS!!😭
Disappointing 0-60, but it sounded nice. Still, I might want one of these if I can get it configured the way I want it and if it can pass the crash tests with top scores and comes with the 6.2 engine.
That chrome grill needs to go. Other then that I like it. It looks tough.
He really needs to see some RGV Racing vids I think he'll change his mind lol about the drag racing part!
This was tested at high altitude so the numbers is higher so if your saying Ford is faster, it will almost be the same as this one if tested on the same altitude
this is 5.3L v8..
please make 0-60 test for 6.2L V8
my 2001 sierra 5.3 v8 does 0 to 60 in 6.38 seconds funny right?
Actually multiple tests from edmunds, car driver motor trend all can get the crew cab 5.3 to 60 in 6 seconds.
Chevy needs a major redesign, this honestly looks like they just created some new grills and call it a day.
my 4.7L 2004 Toyota Sequoia can do it in 8.4 seconds, i wanna see what the 6L v8 can do
I want that Chevy Logo on the Barn.
is this mile high?
Sierra looks even better!
That is awesome 0:22
Ram does 7.62 sec. @sea level according to Roman's video. I'm a dodge guy but will admit Chevy finally did a decent job on their interior
Obviously haven't been to Houston...
It was a little off but the time was not 7 seconds. I was getting around 7.5ish
This truck IS better looking than the outgoing model IMO. I never liked the current models front bumper with those goofy caps on the end. The interior on these is amazingly better as well. The thing that kills it for me though, is the VERY square wheel openings. You can't beat GM truck reliability and engines though. I still like the engine options Ford offers, and the look of the RAM better, but this truck will sell like MAD! The GMC Sierra is even better looking IMO.
way faster than the ram and tundra according to your tests, you should put this video of tfl truck
this truck looks great! the color is nice. and that V8 is sweet
But i still like f-150s' better, just because im a ford guy
0.37 fist thought was "amazing build quality"
GM states the 5.3 gets 25mpg hwy. That would be 4cyl mode haha so 21-22 hwy V8 mode is about right.
becuase gm focused on fuel economy and torque
so it has more hp less tq and about the same mpg as my 90 ROFL
omg i was expecting it to aleast be high 7s like f150 D:
just show me the sierra denali version, thats all that i want to see.
they could have screwed up in editing between the shoot of him driving, and then the instrument cluster. Not really a big deal.
Si la hubiese arrancado utilizando el pedal del freno hasta que las revoluciones subieran lo suficiente hasta que el neumatico empezara a deslizar y luego soltar el pedal del freno hubiese bajado el tiempo en por lo menos un segundo.
I'm sorry, but how does 1 gallon of gas make a difference? (actually don't know)
Should of tested the 6.2
YOu need to redo those 0-60 times.
anybody who owns a chevy knows that with a new intake and exhaust this would be a whole different review.
I calculated 7.3 with my stopwatch
Lol in the rio grande valley we use silverados for drag racing sooo yeah
the Z71 package looks way better as it has less chrome than the LTZ
Ah man, I am a San Antonian! Are y'all still here?
So what it's the crew cab short bed? 8.7 is slow The Dodge ram with the Pentastar v6 Crew cab short bed zero to 60 in 7.5 Seconds In the Ford 5.0 Crew cab short bed four-wheel-drive Is 0 to 60 in 7.2 And eco-boost 0 to 60 in 6.5 Seconds And both of the F1 50s are over 6000 pounds
How can they only get 355hp from a direct-injected 5.3? Ford gets 360hp from a standard 5.0L.
No, your timer was REALLY far off. If you time it by hand, you get well under 8.
they do it so they can release the exact same truck next year with 375 and all it an update.
I hope they offer a turbo diesel version as well....I don't know why you would buy a massive truck like this with a petrol engine....
It's getting late. Where is the review?
They tested it in Texas, not Colorado, so there won't be much of a difference in acceleration.
Great video, the Chevy Silverado was not designed to (Drag Race) for goodness sakes, it's a heavy duty half ton pick up truck, it's purpose is to haul and with the modifications to the engine and interior quietness, makes this a luxury pick up.. Ford doesn't compare with it's feather light body style aluminum chassis, I'd rather drive a (Real mans' truck) Chevy Silverado all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For one he pretty much just did a punch from idle. If your going to do a 0-60mph test. You torque it up as much as you can. My 09 will torque up to 1800rpm
in the world of trucks torque is everthing...my 96 k1500 with 6.5 turbo diesel was putting out 380lbs of torque stock and getting 20+mpg all day long...the 96 k2500 with the same engine puts out 430lbs of torque and also gets aobut 20mpg all day long...i know its not really a fair comparison since these are diesels but yet again they are like 17 year old trucks!!! i think gm should bring the diesels back to the halftons again just like the 90's!!!
car and driver got a 6.7 0-60.
Its quicker then I thought. This truck is massive so I expected it to take at least 10 or more seconds.
No one cares about the Titan, that’s the thing.
why not take the traction control off and just do a good launch
