Billy Corgan is crazy talented and influential. Just ask him, he’ll tell you.
Well, he is a musical prodigy, someone told him that when he was 7.
@@epbmetal429 A savant even. He's written some brilliant music, but damn, the guy is full of himself.
Amen. I don't know the guy (Smashing pumpkins... ok...), but after 15 seconds of him talking i find him annoying already.
lol I thought I was the only one who noticed
Ha!! He didn't let anyone do studio work on Siamese Dream. It's all him....he loves Billy
Nice seeing Conan talking to this kind, soft spoken, musical Bill Burr.
Bill needs a scarf so he can become "the scarf comic"
oh wow, original.
@@kristopherryanwatson thank you, very kind of you to say.
Its nice to see Conan spending time with his cousin.
what a shitty joke
Really?
@@EricGranata cuz they're Irish
Hopeully this doesn't come out the erong esy but they fo loom like they could be related
@@samjones527It did
Despite all my rage, I'm still eating chips on the stage.
I see what you did there
Snacking Pumpkin
Congratulations, you repeated the same joke that 216,838 have made already. Your originality medal is on its way.
“I’d rather leave my kids more songs than less” such a beautiful sentiment ❤️
Conan is such a great comedian that he even makes Billy Corgan laugh
Good observation. Conan is the man.
Corgan's best album to me will always be Adore. He wrote it after his mom died and it helped me when both of my parents died. I also have to say Machina I and II has always been my second favorite for the shoegazey and beautiful sounds with Jimmy back in the band.
Machina is 💥💥💥
Respect!
Even from a young age, people knew I was special.
lol
Did he test as very artistic? Or autistic? 😂
God he is so pretentious. I love his music but DAMNNN. Im surprised Conan got along so well with him
@@arcadianempire Conan is a total pro. He's done thousands of interviews with every kind of person imaginable, and he also just seems like a really humble and empathetic person. He knows how to talk to people in a way that keeps things comfortable.
Conan as a lawyer in court would be something out of Liar Liar with Jim Carrey 💖😂💖
That is such a crazy story, I can't believe his uncle literally called the network head about how Conan should be a lawyer instead of the host of Late Night. xD
Very cool to see 2 of my favorite personalities from the 90s finally having an in depth conversation together.
Yes !
I dont know why, but i like watching billy Corgan interview. I think its bc he is so authentic and genuine.
I'm so happy for Billy that he's finding newer and deeper levels of creative territory and expressing from that vantage wonderfully. All the Atum songs have so much to parse, making relistens very rewarding. It reminds me of the Prince album Lovesexy, or Bob Pollard's first solo album "Not in My Airforce", in that it's such a departure from what was, and the freedom afforded by this earned evolution yields an ornate tapestry of a wonderland that one can explore for many fulfilling hours.
In your Uncle's defense, how could he know NBC would one day pay you $45 Million to NOT be a Late Night host?
Guess Conan's Uncle convinced NBC at the end
If anything explains Conan, it's that a close member of his family called up the head of a network to try to un-hire Conan for this dream job... FOR HIS *OWN* GOOD!
“Back when people actually watched Late Night.” 😂
Wow so humble
🤣😂🤣
Hope to see him back in The Mandalorian soon.
This is a great story that I've never heard about Conan in his early days and I wish he told this story sooner because I think it's a great story!
Holy Cow!!!! What a melding of the minds, love these two!
We really need full episodes with video, preferably on youtube. Monetise it however you see fit, but please bring it to the masses.
Two of my heroes. Together again.
Wish they would post the full video of this interview
I love Conan man, he is a great guy. Glad he became a show host 👏🏻
I used to work at a small record label in Belgium; when things weren't financially going well, the best thing to do, apparently, was to physically destroy all of our unsold vinyl albums at a waste disposal plant, while observed by a notary. We're talking about thousands of records being run over by a bulldozer. As a young guy, new to the music industry, it was heartbreaking to watch. I wish I could've at least taken a picture of this tremendously bizarre event, to give it a place later on in my life - but I wasn't allowed to. This conversation really reminded me of that moment, now eighteen years ago. Capitalism is weird.
That’s crazy! I had no idea that was a thing, that’s weird. I’m really not feeling capitalism these days, it sucks.
Truly talented individual. Forever fan.
Two of my favorite people of all time ❤️❤️❤️
My first instrument i paid for was a beginners sax. I kept it the longest. Sold it cheaply but it still looked amazing. Not many people play it but use to love kenny g with the big sax now he does a flute. Simpsons starts every show with a sax. And Saturday night live legendary sound is with a sax.
If you get caught, don't start lyin'. Just pick up the phone and call O'Brien ☎️ 📞 📱 ⚖️ 🎶
Where do I listen to this full episode? It's not on spotify
Im not even the biggest fan of Billy but I have huge respect for him as a musician, he really lives for music
"coudda' used more saxophone!" Something Bruce Dickenson has never said.
😂😂😂
A musical savant- Corgan according to Corgan
He's a strange character. He is capable of being extremely humble, but also extremely narcissistic. As a guitar player and arranger, he really is gifted. Some of the most fantastic solos I've ever heard. I rank him up there with Michael Bloomfield, Jeff Beck, and Peter Green.
With that being said, I do consider him to be a savant guitarist. He is wholly original, and I can always tell when it's Billy on guitar. That's a rare thing to accomplish.
And also 30 million records sold
@@nebulous8389 yawn.
@@TheTb11111111 totally ok to be jealous of someone who's more talented than you.
@@nebulous8389 he’s absolutely more talented than me no doubt about that.
Oh my God. I have a running joke that Sade keeps saxophone players in business. hahahaha!!
Billy is so full of himself it's funny
its funny that that is your best observation.
30 millions sold id be a bit confident in myself if I did that 😂
Nice interview
"The Philly Rant" is still my favorite EP 🤘
Billy Corgan is such an awesome down to Earth guy... when he shouldn't be. Love it
he turned down accordion? dude could've been Silly Billy Corgan, the next Weird Al
I'd give anything to see Silly Billy Corgan in an alternate universe. I bet he'd juggle, too.
Two of my favourite people ever to exist but I've never believed that story haha
Absolutely love this.
Corgan and his math, now there's something you can count on!
It's always great when Conan makes the interview about himself instead of the person that he is supposed to be interviewing.
I agree with Billy. The culture is sick! Tiktok has killed the attention span. Anything over 30 seconds is too long!
DAMN Billy! I'm really good at juggling and of course I'll keep doing. Hilarious that he just happened to mention my favorite hobby 😮😃🙃
Billy corgan is a perfect of example of separate the art from the artist
this has gotten truer of him with each passing year
His ego is super annoying.
Wtf are you talking about? He only got chiller with age, guy is sweet as heck
@@whateverdopeJust ask Alex Jones.
@@MothGirl007 that's what happens sometimes when a neglected kid becomes a famous rockstar. 🤷♂️
underrated kazoo player
I've only in the last few years, come to realize, just how much the world is all about money and power by the various corporations and individuals that have huge influence over it, in regards to the comment about the Q&A regarding making a larger musical project at 3:58. It is the primary factor in almost every major decision and what guides any large business. There is no triple bottom line with these companies, regardless of whatever BS they want to put out there on their P.R. fluff channels on Twitter or the like.
Not that I realize the full extent of what goes on in corporate boardrooms and with politicians but I've come to realize this and it only reinforces it, when I pay attention to events of the world.
However, this guy ain't that bright. He almost makes me feel smart. He's claiming he's a libertarian free-market capitalist in one publication but then seems genuinely puzzled by the corporate boardroom decisions that based on this interview and my deductions, want a smaller music project (or to not do it). Kind of funny and honestly a bit of a turn off.
Omg I’m playing my accordion right now!
Good convo.
HOMER SIMPSON…SMILING POLITELY🤓
He comes off as incredibly arrogant however I still like him.
I mean if a Rockstar is not full of himself is he really a Rockstar?
@Mario Miranda yeah... It usually makes them better
Confidence is important in any creative field. If you don't believe in your work, no one else is.
People say the same about Paul McCartney, but it’s hard not to seem arrogant when you gain popularity in the music industry at a young age
Arrogance does not equal confidence…..
I was about to joke that this guy looked like he could be Billy Corgan's grandfather... but then I actually got to see the full title of the video.
My mom used to say my ex looked like Billy Corgan 😂😂
Joel Plaskett also has an album with 33 songs called Three. AMAZING ALBUM!!. He just released an album called 44 and you guessed it it has 44 songs. Check him out please.
He sounds humble...
Favorite two awkward, insanely talented men.
First Alex Jones now Conan Obrian. Billy is moving up in the world.
Is this from a Needs a Friend episode that hasn't been released yet?
I thought this guy is his uncle from the title
I doubt you’ll see this Conan but if you do just always remember you are wonderful!
Wonderful
Conan often wears a jacket in the podcast studio, and Billy is wearing a scarf. They must have the AC flippin' cranked in there. ❄️
Please have Eddie Izzard on the show!!
Conan and Corgan = Team Coco.
Now I really want to see Conan in a legal drama.
She Hulk lol
Good guys and funny
Legends 🤟
That's the guy from the smashing pumpkins!!?!!
this is a radio session, not a podcast?
Put out the whole video!!!!
“I’m gonna be dead soon” bothered me.
I'm a Pumpkins obsessive. Absolute super fan. I couldn't make it ten minutes through the full interview. Corgan's delusions of grandeur I can forgive - he's a genius. But the self-pity, the resentment, the pettiness...my god, the man is insufferable.
Billy Corgs. Gotta listen to this.
The man loves his scarves.
Last I checked one and one makes two billy so explain how math is wrong when it's in black and white
can we have Trey Parker on the show please?
I want my favorite artists to be able to make whatever kind of art they want to make - whether using a minimalistic approach, a complex one, or a bit of both. No artist owes anyone masterpiece after masterpiece, which is subjective anyway.
Very humble, or something.
Two of my favorite people ever.
Homer Simpson, Smilling politely.
Apparently, Corgan told Howard Stern he had an encounter with a shapeshifter. Google it.
Is this gonna be an episode of conan needs a friend?
Is it just me who's getting to know about this story for the first time or conan really hasnt told thiss on cam before?
Hes told this story before. I think in Paul F. Tompkins episode of the podcast.
You'd be touring with Sade now......... HAHHaaahhhhaaaaa
Damn. I thought Conan was really tall. lol.
#Thoughty2's dad looks fine
bring on Les Claypool !!
Yep, the culture is definitely sick. I've always loved Smashing Pumpkins. Good luck, B-Corgs!
What's wrong with touring with Sade? 😂
definitely cousins.
Hell ya
Conan O'Brien as my defensive litigating Solicitor...okay?!?!
Well, his uncle probably wasn't telling him to learn british law
@@Mascifin 'sorry I meant Barrister
I am a big fan of Billy corgan and the smashing pumpkins
They are talking about how we've become a troll society. In the past being a troll was basically a dead end career. In the age of digital -every idiot has a platform, being a troll is now a certified career path. In fact its extremely profitable to fleece the flock. It's never been so easy. Today it's like shooting ducks in a barrel. Were we always this dumb or is it the new landscape?
So shiny
His recent interviews on Howard Stern are excellent too, crazy stories about his dad
He was on Bill Maher podcast and said sometimes his dad would bring him to a drug deal and make him wait in the car for a few hours.
I thought Billy Corgan was Conan's uncle
Working for 106.7FM KROQ, I remember Billy's guest appearance with Depeche Mode on stage at the 1998 KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas...Billy was terrible, his timing was off during sound check and during his performance on stage with the greatest band ever "Depeche Mode." But at least he tried...💜🎶
This guy has gone full alt-right conspiracist nutbar. It's sad, I used to love Smashing Pumpkins.
Oh, the Alex Jones guy ! Now i remember him. I hope he spoke about how the Sandy Hook parents are wrong about his dear friend Alex and how taxes for the rich are too high. A great mind for sure.
Ok boomer
