Steve is an audio genius. Most engineers and producers try to capture the sound and music... he was a guy that was able to capture the raw energy of a band.

And if you read more you would understand how much he doesn’t really seem to have a personality when people have tried to talk to him like a human being but instead he wants to get to the point on more money schemes or ripping off his fans. Really check this dude out. There is a lot of baffling things he has done to make a buck when he doesn’t need to push so hard in his later years.

first time I realized that Steve Albini would be able to do a very accurate impression of Kurt talking - - I never noticed how close their speaking voices are (were... RIP Cobain & Albini) before.
Even before In Utero, I had been in love with Steve Albini's producing because of the Pixies Surfer Rosa album, which remains an enduring masterpiece. But everything I read about Albini, always suggested he was this really grumpy, acidic and dictatorial producer. But he sounds like a funny guy to have on board.
Thank you Conan, Dave, Kris and Steve for this interview. Still my favorite band of all time that changed my life and to this day still inspires me to make music, play music and record and mix music.

It put emphasis on the impressively short time and also left room for Albini to say it only took 3-4 days to mix if he wanted. (that fact would be pretty astounding on its own too, if you had never heard Albinis mix...its not good)
I saw Nirvana interviews first, and the way they handled them, and then saw how the Beatles handled their interviews, and saw how they didn't take them seriously. That's probably the way to do it. I'd probably be terrified lol. Good for them for having fun. Neat that Steve was in on this conversation.
Ran into Gene Simmons and his wife on a hike a couple years ago. I was wearing a tee shirt, dark gray work-out shorts and hiking shoes. I asked for a photograph and after taking it Gene looks at me and says, "nice shorts, they make those for men?" In that moment I was trying to decide what was worse: Gene's roasting skills or his musical talent.
The Evan Dando story is great. Worst show I've ever seen was an Evan Dando solo show at the Brattle Theater in Cambridge in 1997. He was a mess - stopping in the middle of songs, forgetting lyrics, wandering around the stage aimlessly, until the whole thing just sort of collapsed and ended. At least it was memorable.
