I am 73 years old and you are keeping my mind active. Learned sooo much from inlay and pizza peel videos. Play the parts over and over and attempt to recreate on test pieces. I like your style - particularly when you don't get to the point until you explain why you do it! Yes, I am emerging into an advanced beginner. The ability to stop, try, rewind at my own pace is better than classroom learning where my questions often slow down the pace/experience for the others. Yes, I will emerge as an advanced beginner because I try to internalize your tips and tricks. You are so thorough! I think I will be able to fly after this.

      Great video as always.
I have been learning vcarve pro and I would like to accelerate my learning. I know you cover all in your videos.
Do you have a sequence of videos from beginning to advance so I can eliminate the searching?
If you have that would be great.

We could have watched a movie on this Friday night, but my wife who wants to learn to use VCarve Pro agreed to watch this one with me. There was a number of functions I hadn't learned despite watching dozens of your videos over the past 8-9 months, so you helped level my design skills up again!
It appears I'll soon be making my third bit order from north of the border... almost in so many months - off I go to make a few other things to sell to raise a few bucks for these three bits I don't have yet!
...which is not a bad thing. People often ask "what should I buy when starting" or "what should I buy next" - as it also applies to other types of shop tools, what you NEED for a given project. Buy as you go. So I know I'll likely have a few more orders to go as I approach the end of my first year of CNCing, but you can't and shouldn't go from 5mph to 60mph overnight!
Keep up the great work Garrett - even the kitten got transfixed on following your mouse cursor for 5 minutes at one point! 😂

      @IDCWoodcraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Michael, I love that you all watched it together that's awesome! You have youself some keepers my friend! I'm glad it was helpful. There's so many functions on Vcarve that I learn something new everyday too! I couldn't agree with you more, I think the busy as you go method is really the best. Otherwise, you end up with a stock pile of bits you have never touched if you buy them all at the beginning! Keep up the good work!

Thanks' Garrett for sending me this video, I'm 78 years young and a new beginner to CNC. The video was very good explaining how to use the software and cutting out the pizza peel. My wife is ready to start using the pizza peel as soon as I make it. I will play the video again and make a step by step written procedure on the computer as to how you made the pizza peel. I will be ordering the bits needed for this project from your website soon. I am looking forward to playing your other videos you have in the future.

Garrett, amsteelle "overlord" here as you like to call it.... LOL 😂
Great video! Very helpful actually. I was most recently thinking about how you would do chamfers/ tapers on a project or anything in general and this actually does help a lot and will giving this a try in the future. Also I will ad that although your videos are quit long, they are very helpful! I say this because others just fly through "how to" videos, they dont fully explain "WHY" you SHOULD and SHOULDNT be doing something specifically and the reason why or why not, and this is very helpful. It's hard to learn this software when you dont know the reason why or why not to use lets say a specific tool or arrange something in a specific way to get the turn out you are looking for! So far Ive been coming to your channel whenever I need to figure something out and has been helpful in in just about all cases but are still learning the software. Thanks and keep posting

Everything looked good until I got to the toolpaths. I am not sure why but the simulation didn't look like it was supposed to. Instead of a gradual taper there was a ledge in the simulation between taper and rest of pizza peel. Looked like the vcarve toolpath in cc basically just ran about 3 passes right down the center of the taper layer shape. I will say though that cc doesn't give me very good previews of the round over bits I got from you either but they always do a great job nonetheless when I run them. It's one of those things I guess. I learned some good stuff through the video either way.

I have got to get the VCarve Software, I have a 1 year subscription to the Carveco that came with my CNC, so I have time to save my pennies. I really appreciate all the information about bit speeds and tool paths. I happened across your bits on Prime Day before my CNC showed up, and figured, It's worth buying quality. I have been learning ever since. I appreciate the wealth of knowledge.
I have been using Adobe's and Affinity's vector software for years, and a lot of the design stuff seems similar. I wish the art software had some of the features I see you use in VCarve. That said, some of the features in the art software are really nice to have. I have no issues with mixing the two.
I appreciate how you used the V Carve feature with the larger bit. In my shop, I would have just taken a belt sander to that to get the curve but this is helping me rethink my build methods. I only just got my CNC in and hooked up a few days ago, and I haven't totally wrapped my head around what I can do with it yet. I look forward to the next video.
    Thank you again!

WikiSnapper, there's no rush brother. I do find Vetric a little more user friendly especially when first starting out but there's no problem with starting with what you have! I get what you mean about being used to using what you know in the shop. That can certainly come in handy, but it can be an adjustment retraining our brains with the new tools we have. It's a fun challenge! Happy cutting brother!

Hi Garrett. Man I can't tell you how much I really appreciate your videos...I could go all night just sucking in the information you provide. I just wish to mention two things to you which I noticed between the pizza peel video and information given in the IDC Tool Database which can be downloaded FOR FREE. In the downloaded tool data base, the 150* VBit shows as having a 1 1/2" Diameter, but in the video it shows as being a 2". Also, the information concerning the Form Tool Bit differs form what's in the video and what shows in the downloaded tool data base. The geometry, cutting parameters, and feeds and speeds are different between the video and what's listed in the data base. In any event I created the file in VCarve Pro and the file ran perfectly utilizing the TH-cam video on the pizza peel. Simply FANTASTIC!!!! I guess the differences did not have that much (if any) impact on the final product. I will now be able to offer this item to people as an item which I can produce. Thanks so very much and I'll be ordering the bits from you in order to create the pizza peel.

    • @IDCWoodcraft

Brian, I am working hard to make sure that there is 100% accuracy between every source but go off the tool database if there is ever any inaccuracy.
