Yes Garrett still watching 42 minutes in. (Stopping to type this comment.) Spacing text didn't know about the control button when moving letters apart just the shift button. When in edit text spacing I use the selection mode under edit object rather than the escape button to get out of the edit text spacing. Now I know this tip. Ok now on to the text on a curve I've been using the circle cutting it in 2 halfs and ending up with a lot of difficult ways to get the text just right. I was not aware that an arc could be used instead. Thanks Now continue with the rest of the video. Freehand feature found out that it's part of my software. Thanks for showing me the freehand portion. Thanks for the review on the fillets Another amazing great video. Thanks

Hi, Garrett, it's Harold; WOW, am I glad I found this video! I have been having a problem with tear-out between texts. Once again, not only have your instructions helped solve that problem, your teaching method has made it easier for me to grasp how to do ALL of these things described in this Aplus instructional video. Be blessed, my friend.
i have learned more by just watching two of your videos, than watching the Vectric tutorials as a beginner. thank you for your easy to follow and learn videos.
I'm thinking I'm somewhat past the beginner stage having been watching your videos for 18-20 months and having been using my Longmill since February '22. This video is still more than somewhat relevant or useful to my development as I picked up a good number of new techniques for VCarve Pro. Thanks and keep these coming! 👊
I only had Vectric software for less than a week an have watched a number of your videos . I'm learning alot but its a slow process . I'm 81 yrs young but love the CNC Router. I have been using Easel for the past 4 years.a little bored with it and decide to try Vectric VCarve. Alot different Than Easel. Youmake easy to learn
Wow so many videos all very interesting and instructive I have already learned a lot and for that I wanted to thank you Garrett. Greetings from Germany

Garrett home today work is slow. Thats why I'm learning this stuff, maybe one day I'll work for myself. Anyway great video love the review of things that how I learn, and love all the new buttons. Hopefully will know all of them and there functions soon. I'm practicing each day. I'm going to get this Garrett.👍👍👍👍
As usual I've learned a few tricks I wasn't aware they existed. One being the control shift plus clicking the button in the upper right corner regarding text movement.
Garrett, you are the greatest, my friend. Your videos are always easy to follow and even the advanced ones you take the time to go over the basics of the software for any beginners that may be watching. That's the mark of a true instructor who loves teaching. You are the man. I have bookmarked every video I have been able to find of yours so when I get my CNC out of storage (hopefully after the first of the year), I can rewatch them and start making some awesome signs, and I am going to try doing some engraving on plexiglass (and yes, I will be getting a complete set of bits from you before I start) with some LED lighting around the perimeter.
John, wow thank you for the kind words my friend! I'm truly humbled and glad ot be a part of your cnc journey! I'm looking forward to you making your way into your shop and seeing what you create. You got this!
Thanks Garrett, Nice to learn how to make all those adjustments. I'm still working on my shop but it is coming together and hopefully within a couple weeks I'll be operational. I just want the shop to be done before I setup my longmill.

Gary, you are going to need a software package called gSender or Universal Gcode Sender. You will be able to send your toolpath instruction files to your CNC that way.
Another great video! I'm still learning keyboard shortcuts, so this really helps. Something I also found was that I could use the measuring tool to insure the distance between letters. But it seems there should be a menu item to do that, and if there is, I haven't found it yet.

I frequently have text that looks right when previewed but end up a mess when cut. Love your videos, I’ve been using VCarve for 10 years and I learn something new with almost every video!
Garrett, I need to give thanks where it is due! I've gained lots of respect for you with what you've empowered the people with! I continue to watch your videos. Thanks a million amigo! I did have a question regarding the letter spacing. Is that feature button the same on vcarve desktop and pro version 12.009? I am running vcarve desktop 12.009 and couldn't get the cursor with the arrows pointing in or out. I had to select the two individual letters and space bar the movement from my keyboard.
rescobar8572, Thank you so much for your kind words! I truly appreciate your support and am glad you're finding value in the videos. Regarding your question about letter spacing in VCarve, the feature to adjust letter spacing should be available in both the Desktop and Pro versions, though sometimes the interface can differ slightly. If you're not seeing the cursor option, it might be a setting or a version characteristic. Keep experimenting with the tools, and I hope you find the best method that works for you!
Garrett: First, thank you for all the videos and knowledge about CNC. Just getting into it all, and the videos are very informative and help out a lot. I took an Introductory class on CNC through our Woodworking Guild in Oregon and found your videos. With that, my question is, and I have not tried it yet, have you ever used a Stylus such as from Wacom Technology? They have digital tablets and displays that people use to design with Adobe Software, but also within CAD-based programs. As you noted in this video, you asked about using the Freehand tool that just came out in 11.5.x. I agree that using a laptop mouse or trackpad is not good, and I actually use a Trackball instead of a Mouse. Mice can run out of desktop space, and I continually move them around. So, a Trackball works for me. So with a Wacom Tablet, when you use the Freehand part, you would get better lines or flow better. What do you think about this? Again, great videos, and I just signed up for the insider email and joined the Facebook site.
Adam, sorry for the delay getting back to you it's been a crazy couple of weeks! You bring up excellent ideas about using a stylus and trackball but I haven't tried them out for myself as of yet! I will have to look a little deeper into these so thank you for sharing brother!
@@IDCWoodcraft Garrett: Thanks for the response. You were having a great time at Benchcon this past weekend. Take care and will look for a video or other notes about this. Appreciate the response. Take care.
It would be nice if Vectric had a function of adjusting horizontal spacing and vertical height of the complete text like LightBurn. Just a suggestion. Your CNC videos are great.
One more key cod: if you move things around with the cursor keys on your keyboard, the shift key enlarge the jump, and thee control key makes the jump smaller And with the image zoomed in, it can give extra fine steps. Kind regards Hans p.s. in the help tab, the 2nd item is the shortcut keys page
Excellent!! Been working with 11.5 for a few weeks now and didn't know about the control+shift trick! Thanks. can the free hand tool be used on a bit map? And would that help with the bit map tracing?
Hi Garrett, I have version 11.016 now. Does vectric offer an upgrade to 1.5 ? I would really like to be able to freehand. As always, you are a great teacher and I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you,
By the way, there is yet another key code, for the text, and that is the alt key, that is for the entire line to widen or to narrow the spacing . In stead of 2 characters it rules the entire line of text, For time saving it is faster to do it first on all the characters at once and then adjust the "mistakes" here and there. So alt shift left mouse click broadens all the spaces at once etc. Kind regards Hans
Question: Some fonts I select type the 'box' sideways...no idea why? Anyhoooo, I select the box and rotate it to horizontal. Somehow the box will NOT go horizontal under ANY condition or magnification. eg: Once the box is set horizontal it bounces off horizontal once the left mouse is released. I've searched and can't find a solution. Thought you might know. Some programs the use of SHIFT will align to either horizontal or vertical but not this one Thanks, N
N Spctor, depending upon the font you are using or have imported into windows from a website might turn out that way. Your best bet is to use fonts that are approved by Vectric with a TTF format!
duane, sorry my friend I'm not too sure what you mean on this one. Are you looking for a checklist of steps to follow? If so, I'm sorry I haven't created something like this as of yet!
I just made a sign that was suppose to be 24” with a 23.5 rectangle for the cut out of the text but my long mill shrunk my lettering down to about 18 “. I made 3 signs and it didn’t it to all of them. What did I do wrong?
Karen, this one is a little too tricky to answer over comment my friend. I recommend joining Kate and I for our TH-cam live session every Wednesday (including tonight) at 8PM EST and we should be able to walk you through it!
Good day I am looking at getting in to cnc long Mill I am set on the long mill now looking at what laptop system I may need to run vectric what do you use ie cpu ssd and ram can you help
lauragrafton3898, Good day! For running Vectric software smoothly, a laptop with a decent CPU, at least 8GB of RAM, and an SSD for faster loading times would be ideal. Look for something with a good graphics card as well to help with rendering your designs. Just make sure the laptop meets the software's minimum system requirements for the best experience! Happy CNCing!

Your CNC videos are great.
ntrumpdeplorable7781, that would be a great idea brother! I like that.
Am still here thanks
George, happy to have you here my friend.
One more key cod: if you move things around with the cursor keys on your keyboard, the shift key enlarge the jump, and thee control key makes the jump smaller And with the image zoomed in, it can give extra fine steps. Kind regards Hans
p.s. in the help tab, the 2nd item is the shortcut keys page
hanspijpers2100, that is a great suggestion too brother. Moving around with the cursor keys makes things quite a lot quicker!
Still Here!☝
randalsullivan4453, happy to have you here brother!
Excellent!! Been working with 11.5 for a few weeks now and didn't know about the control+shift trick! Thanks. can the free hand tool be used on a bit map? And would that help with the bit map tracing?
Well I guess I should have watched a little longer before asking that question ;) LOL
Darryl, you got to your own comment before I could brother! LOL I'm glad I could help, that control + shift trick saves a lot of time. Happy cutting!
By the way, panning is from left to right or top to bottom, in and out is called zooming (middle mouse button) Kind regards Hans
hanspijpers2100, good point brother. Thanks for the tip on that one!
Hi Garrett,
I have version 11.016 now. Does vectric offer an upgrade to 1.5 ? I would really like to be able to freehand. As always, you are a great teacher and I have learned so much from your videos.
Thank you,
Greg, I'm not 100% sure on this one brother. I recommend reaching out to Vetric directly, they should be able to help you out with upgrading!
@@IDCWoodcraft ok, thank you Garrett! Have a great weekend sir.
Another Great Lesson Brother, 😊
Im still considering buying a cnc .
I have a Laser ingraver though.
Edwymer, right on brother! Glad to hear this one helped you.
This video is very helpful since 11.5 is much different than the 10. Version
Janet, glad to hear this one helped you!
By the way, there is yet another key code, for the text, and that is the alt key, that is for the entire line to widen or to narrow the spacing . In stead of 2 characters it rules the entire line of text,
For time saving it is faster to do it first on all the characters at once and then adjust the "mistakes" here and there.
So alt shift left mouse click broadens all the spaces at once etc. Kind regards Hans
hanspijpers210, very good points my friend. That would save quite a lot of time. Thanks for sharing!
Garrett some of us myself included might want to know why you would want to do things as you’re doing them.
Robert, that's a great point brother. I'll try to explain more as I go in the future my friend!
Question:
Some fonts I select type the 'box' sideways...no idea why?
Anyhoooo, I select the box and rotate it to horizontal.
Somehow the box will NOT go horizontal under ANY condition or magnification.
eg: Once the box is set horizontal it bounces off horizontal once the left mouse is released.
I've searched and can't find a solution.
Thought you might know.
Some programs the use of SHIFT will align to either horizontal or vertical but not this one
Thanks,
N
N Spctor, depending upon the font you are using or have imported into windows from a website might turn out that way. Your best bet is to use fonts that are approved by Vectric with a TTF format!

Thanks, I'll do more research in the matter.
Cheers,
N
still here , to interesting !
Louis, right on brother. Happy to have you here.
that was a fun one
Kimberly, I'm glad you enjoyed it my friend!
very nice
Jim, thanks brother!
Is there a list, a cheet sheet for shortcut?
duane, sorry my friend I'm not too sure what you mean on this one.
Garrett I PURCHASE A ARTISAN 408 with Bob cad . would you mind telling me your on this?
PerryShaw, not too sure what you mean brother. Could you clarify your question?
I'm still here brother👍
Lippa618papalee4, happy to have you here brother!
I know how to use esprit, do you think it's good to learn vectric if I'm planning to buy a CNC?
Rafael, that would be a great idea brother! Get a head start on learning ASAP.
