Concrete for cedar posts are to keep water from rotting it. You dont need concrete for strength but I think its still a good idea.

great video thank you! i guess the benefit of this type of fence vs a panel fence is that you can contour uneven ground nicely. i dont need that so i think a cheaper panel fence would be ok. why did the company have to trim the horizontal pieces for you? isnt it just pvc? cant you just cut it with a chop saw?

Okay, so i read every comment before posting this question. Im about to tackle this exact project. About the same length of 150ft with a slight slope. I have heavy clay soil.
So here's where im confused. You left the posts hollow? Everything I've researched, says to use 4x4 wood posts, then slide the vinyl post over the wood and cement in the hole. I live high up on a mountain top, we get a lot of wind from the valley. Wouldn't it be more secure and last longer with wood 4x4 posts? BTW... Great video.

I can answer this for him, yes they come 8ft standard at all the big box stores. Also, I personally use a laminate, non ferrous metal blade for cutting. A wood blade is OK for a cut or two but if your needing it for more, 84 tooth blade made for pretty, no chip cuts for my 20 or so I had to.

how do you cope with a lawn with a slope especially a serious slope

    • @-DIYPRO-
      @-DIYPRO-  ปีที่แล้ว

I had a little slope on the other side of my house. If big enough they can add double rails or taller slats. The biggest pain is cutting the bottoms to the correct angle. Can't give you enough info over a comment so I'd suggest finding a supplier and ask them. Most of them even have instructions on installation, which would include a slope, from the manufacturer.

    • @-DIYPRO-

I got mine from Utah Fence warehouse. Isn't a national chain so if you are not from around here you'll want search local fence companies.

Question. Is it possible to only put fence on the left and right side of the house to block out your side neighbors, but not put fence on the back since it’s just woods back there(there’s already a fence there but it’s like the before wood fence you had here, it’s not great)

    • @-DIYPRO-
      @-DIYPRO-  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Totally, you don't need it to be enclosed.

Typical labor is about the same as material, maybe a little more. Material was 2-3,000 you'll be paying about that in labor.

What the hell is going on.
First I'm going to say thanks for the video, it's nice to see the process n looks like you did a visually good job.
    However
Do not mix concrete like that anyone following along. Do some concrete research maybe.
Also you did not use silicone on the top cap. That was clearly acrylic paint able caulking. Not to be used outdoors and not a glue product. Silicone or something like quad would work just fine however as you stated. But I can't believe you glued those on with that.
I really don't see them falling off easy but c'mon lol.

    • @-DIYPRO-
      @-DIYPRO-  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks! I'm surprised it took that long to get a comment on the concrete! This last spring we had one of the biggest wind storms ever and all the posts and caps are still holding strong so I'm good with the way I did it.
