I took Baclofen for the first year or two after becoming a quadriplegic. I decided to try stop taking it and didn't noticed much difference at all. I do range of motion exercises with my legs every morning before getting out of bed and stand in my standing wheelchair multiple times a day. My spasms are manageable and beneficial.
I go to a gym that trains people with physical disabilities, mostly with SCI. They've found that spasms are a great tool in keeping us fit and healthy. The trainers use our spasms as a tool that can assist in exercises like 'sit to stand'. It is also believed that spasms can be used to get some nerve signals to the brain, thus helping in rebuilding connections. I am a C4 quad who has moderate control of my body from the hips on up and I have regained much of my muscle definition, looking close to how I did when before injury. I was almost skin and bones and could only shrug my shoulders when I was first released from the hospital after injury. So, I agree spasms can be beneficial.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that experiences these benefits to spasms and doesn’t think that they’re such a negative and just always try to get rid of them, I feel like it’s the one way that the body tries to help make it so your body doesn’t get so weak so quick . It’s like your body subconsciously says hey you might need these muscles so I’m gonna keep them working for you. Although it might be a little irritating at times. lol
Fascinating. I look forward to seeing footage from your trip. Would love to see more about what you 3D print, and even more curios about your set up for making videos. Glad I subscribed. Keep doing what you do! Surely you are making a difference
Will do, just checked out Panama 🇵🇦 would love to check out Belize next, but I never heard back from your team about accessible cabs or transportation options if I came down.
