I preordered s21 ultra. Upgrading from note 20 ultra. Samsung definitely wins in the photo department, however both the quality and stabilization of videos on the iPhone are much better (as expected). But, i'm buying s21 ultra for neither of these reasons, but that 1440p 120hz screen! Dat silky crispness
I like the little preview lol I am glad to see some shadows on the Samsungs. They often just ignore those and remove that as much as possible making it just look terribly flat

I just wish you also use the 108mp camera of the s21 ultra when comparing to the iPhone 12 pro max because thats also one of samsung key feature. Also the super steady mode while taking the video so that we can really compare how the iPhone catches up with the s21 ultra in terms of video stability. Not just the default settings of photos and videos. I believe that all the xtra features of the s21 ultra worth what we paid in buying the unit.
This details review of camera and videography literally deserved my subs, finally Samsung has achieved top tier smartphone camera with the camera setup and software image processing, I literally like the shadow and real feel images taken by S21U it just blown my mind away, iphone is still the king when it comes to videography no doubt. As a Samsung user who used to hate their overprocessed image, I have to admit, they nailed their latest processing here. Huge departure from their past look, which always crashed shadow and blown out the highlights. So good, almost made some iPhone shots looks like old Samsung photos 😂 Although video is still iPhone forte but I'm more of photo guy, so this new processing coupled with more refined, advanced camera hardware, this is great news for long-time Samsung user like myself :D

Yeah but thats true now. Iphones takes overly yellow skin tones and normal indoor photos have extreme noise(even 400$ samsung phones have less noise in indoor images than the iphone). Also samsung wins in terms of zoom,colour accuracy,detail,features,display,battery and performance where the iphone only wins in video recording.
S21: Photos,Selfies,Audio,Night mode,Focus,Macro And Zoom iPhone 12: Slightly better video recording and stability. But i've seen other videos where the stability on the S21 is better or about the same. Maybe it might get fixed with an update. UPDATE: The low light performance of the S21 Ultra on some videos is either better then the iphone 12 or worse. Again this phone needs some updates. Check supersafs video and unbox therapys video to see what i'm talking about.

Too much processing now from them it seems - sometimes this works well, other times it just looks yuk. But at the same time the Samsung adds too much contrast at times, so does the iPhone. I'd take Raw photos on both to play around with. Samsung more versatile for photos, iPhone still is great for videos.
I used to have both a Samsung and an iPhone at the same time. (I got the iPhone as a hand-me-down.) My personal preference is this: Samsung for places and objects. iPhones for people and pets (selfies included). I think each phone camera has its merit. It all comes down to what you prioritise.

I think once Samsung fixes it's lowlight detail issues in the video processing, they will have the perfect camera. I sometimes have to use Pro Video on my S20 Ultra in low light because it records better videos in low light than the grainy sharpened Samsung processing.
After using the iPhone for many years and finally switched to Samsung (S21 ultra), I can tell that Samsung has more features to offer for the users, more flexible and user friendly. No restrictions, and you can customize it the way you want. So happy that i have finally switched to Samsung, I'm in love with that phone.
Samsung have finally done it, I've always praised apple for there sensors and contrast and hated Samsungs washed out pics but they've really upped there game. Unfortunately the video and speaker quality crown goes to Samsung. Well done Samsung. But up that video game!

Having pre-ordered the S21 Ultra and coming from the disappointing S20 Ultra its good to see that Samsung has done a decent job with the cameras, bringing it up alongside current handsets in terms of quality. It was too much to expect it be an outright camera champion given where Samsung are coming from with the s20 Ultra but it'll do. I also like the feature packed camera on the S21U. It makes it a good allrounder to have in pocket. Having watched a few comparison videos, both the iPhone and S21U as good as each other overall. Either does a great job!

Hey the Tech Chap. After receiving some adverts relating to a conversation I had on zoom 24 hours later. I wondered if you ever considered doing a vid on iOS V Android and their use of our private data? . I think this would be a very interesting video given how much we just click through Ts & Cs. I've historically been a Samsung user and im waiting on the arrival of my S21 Ultra this week but after some thought, I may be tempted to switch to iPhone if iOS proves to be less flippant with my data. Hi, I think you should have mentioned which variant of Galaxy S21 Ultra you were using to be fair. From the samples you took, I think it should be the inferior Exynos variant. In recent years, the photos and videos taken with Exynos variant had been inferior compared to the Snapdragon variant. For example, the photos are too high in contrast and the black is usually too black in Exynos Variant. The difference between Snapdragon and Exynos is so much more than just processing speed and temperature. They might have narrowed the gap of processing speed this year, but not the photo and video quality as most people are not aware of it.

Exposing dark spots in the pictures actually makes sense to me and iPhone crushes all the dark and blacks in the pictures. I prefer the iPhone.

The exynos this year is the same as the snapdragon 888 and the diffrent processor doesnt mean shit it would still be the same result.

Samsung did really bring a beastly improvement this year. Samsung looks more natural and more detailed. I definitely will go for samsung- not because I'm a fan but because of what I see. 🔥

The reason why he chose it because it is much brighter in a low light area and his face is much more present.

Having pre-ordered the S21 Ultra and coming from the disappointing S20 Ultra its good to see that Samsung has done a decent job with the cameras, bringing it up alongside current handsets in terms of quality. It was too much to expect it be an outright camera champion given where Samsung are coming from with the s20 Ultra but it'll do. I also like the feature packed camera on the S21U. It makes it a good allrounder to have in pocket.
Having watched a few comparison videos, both the iPhone and S21U as good as each other overall. Either does a great job!

Hey the Tech Chap. After receiving some adverts relating to a conversation I had on zoom 24 hours later. I wondered if you ever considered doing a vid on iOS V Android and their use of our private data? . I think this would be a very interesting video given how much we just click through Ts & Cs. I've historically been a Samsung user and im waiting on the arrival of my S21 Ultra this week but after some thought, I may be tempted to switch to iPhone if iOS proves to be less flippant with my data. Im yet to see a good comparison vid of this nature. Just a thought. Great vids btw!

I don't see it that way. Samsung photos look dark to me and it doesn't crush the dark spots as Apple does which is very important.
AFTER 5 cameras of course they will win, but still apple doing great job just with 3 camera and only 12 MP, I wish apple use more high MP cameras

This is the Exynos S21 Ultra, right? Images aren't that blurry on the Snapdragon version.
The iPhone has that ability to switch to different lenses without you noticing.

Hi, I think you should have mentioned which variant of Galaxy S21 Ultra you were using to be fair.
From the samples you took, I think it should be the inferior Exynos variant. In recent years, the photos and videos taken with Exynos variant had been inferior compared to the Snapdragon variant.
For example, the photos are too high in contrast and the black is usually too black in Exynos Variant.
The difference between Snapdragon and Exynos is so much more than just processing speed and temperature. They might have narrowed the gap of processing speed this year, but not the photo and video quality as most people are not aware of it.

That’s an amazing achievement and well deserved 👏👏📱 With regards to which is the better Camera system, I think the Samsung just shades it, but very close. iPhone on video tho is still the champ. Whichever phone anyone chooses they will get a solid product. I’ve ordered the S21 Ultra and this will sit alongside my 11 pro max which I absolutely love.
