  • Source Audio President Roger Smith talks about the C4 Synth and the advantages of monophonic pitch tracking over polyphonic pitch tracking.
Thanks to @American Musical Supply for creating the music for the introduction of this video. To see the full AMS video for the C4 Synth go to www.sourceaudio.net/video-c4-...
The C4 Synth unites all the sound creation tools of a classic Eurorack modular synthesizer and packages them in a compact and easy-to-use effects pedal for guitar or bass. Out of the box the C4 offers six dynamic synth tones that range from vintage analog to the thoroughly modern. It is essentially a modular synth in a small pedal with unprecedented tracking abilities, lightning-fast response, and countless sound options. With the addition of the Neuro Desktop Editor (a free download for Mac and Windows machines) and Mobile App. (for iPhone and Android) it's easy to browse from the ever-growing library of highly-inspired presets created by the Source Audio crew and the expanding community of C4 enthusiasts.

An in depth video about creating your own sounds with the C4 using nero would be greatly appreciated.

Our friend Zach Rizer made a very nice video that gets in depth with the C4 Synth's Neuro Editor. Here it is - th-cam.com/video/-Tc055mIvNM/w-d-xo.html&t

A video explaining how to create sounds using modular synthesis would be no shorter than 1,000,000 hours long. :-)

So... the C4 can make all the sounds that my Spectrum can?? Can the Spectrum do the same sounds as the C4? If both are true should I replace my Spectrum with the C4?

BASS player here, you thought about Android users ? Congrats on that !!! I read on the net that you can get an octaver with it, 1 and 2 octaves below, is it possible????

So you track the poly synth (what did you actually use would have been nice to know? And was it actually a guitar or bass poly synth pedal or just a normal synth?) in poly mode? Of course it's going to give off extra things like harmonics because there's vibration from other strings coming through the instrument and pickups etc. That isn't the waves fault or the poly fault. It's natural because of the way a guitar or bass is and how they vibrate so it would probably look different each time and also each guitar / bass synth or just regular synth waves look different from each other already. Hardly will find one synth square wave looking exactly like another synths square wave. A lot of them are programmed differently, therefore changing the waves somewhat. I bet if you played that poly synth in monophonic mode the waves would most likely look the same as the C4 or close. That's just my theory? Not putting down the video at all because the C4 is amazing for a monophonic pedal but I'm just not sure where this video is going with a mono vs poly thing.... It's not a race. Some just want to do bass lines and simple things and monophonic is good for that and others want chordal things. I don't think either one beats each other. There's a place and time for both. :)

I just read all the comments in here, and basically no one understood what you tried to explain. To be honest I did not get the point of comparing how the c4 tracks single note lines with it’s “monophonic tracking(er?) capabilities” as opposed to some crappy “polyphonic tracking device” from an unknown (to Man?) device. And you do that by showing a transformed version of those signals. This part makes sense but, doesn’t the c4 track polyphony also?
You could, at least, have mentioned the average latency of your product.

1:43 “..you can clearly see the 55Hz fundamental”
What the fudge is he talking about? At most it’s a waveform, with a legend.
