  • UPDATE: Now even easier! Check out the updated instructions here:
    • Quick Tips 9 Source ...
    Details here: disasterareadesigns.com/shop/p/dmc-micro-pro
Here's how to connect and control your new Source Audio C4 Synth with a DMC.micro!
    Update your firmware:
disasterareadesigns.com/files - we recommend updating older DMC.micro units to v2.0+
    www.sourceaudio.net/neuro-edi...
    Get a DMC.micro:
    www.disasterareaamps.com/shop...
Get the cables (or bundle with your DMC.micro!)
    www.disasterareaamps.com/shop...
Connect your C4 to the USB cable, then connect the cable to the adapter.
Connect the adapter to your DMC.micro.
Enter the DMC.micro SETUP by holding the left button when the display scrolls at boot.
Edit the setup: DEV = DevA, DevA = C4, USB = HOST.
    Save and exit.
Hold and release the right button on the DMC.micro until the display shows "A" plus a number.
Use the left and right buttons to change presets on the C4, hold the left button to bypass and engage it.
The next video will cover connecting an expression pedal, stay tuned.

The DMC.micro firmware update is live as of the posting of this video.
    DMC-3XL Gen3, DMC-4 Gen3, DPC-5 Gen3, DMC-6 Gen3, and DMC-8 Gen3 firmware will be available by the end of the week.
The steps to connect these other devices are the same: Set DevA = C4, USB = HOST. Save and exit.

@@markgamache6377 Yes, totally agree. The other One Series pedals don't have a lot of program storage space, so they leverage the Hub as a place to store their preset data. They DO have 6 presets on board, and it would seem pretty simple to access at least those 6 directly over USB.

hey ! I own the C4 and the DMC 3xl and they are happily working together so I can acces all the presets, but I can't make the expression pedal to work : it's pluggin in the expression port of my dmc 3xl, and configured properly in the setup to send expression data to the device that is the C4 (device A in my case) , when I move the expression pedal, the C4 led lights up, meaning it's receiving the data, but any custom assignement I've made in the neuro app doesn't seem to respond, I'm using the remote expression (hub/midi) modulation source.

No, while the Aftershock and the earlier One Series pedals have the same exterior they use a different DSP and are much less powerful than the C4 / True Spring / Ultra Wave etc. You'll need to use the Hub with Aftershock, LA Lady, Kingmaker, Vertigo, Gemini, and so on.

You can save / burn any or all of those presets to the actual pedal. Once you do that they are retained in the pedal memory even after you disconnect the phone or computer, and you can recall them using the controller. The controller just asks the pedal to recall a certain preset, all of the preset data is inside the pedal.

The C4 / Spectrum / Ultrawave etc have 128 preset slots, actually. So you just create those presets using the Neuro App or Neuro Desktop, and they live in the locations where you put them. The six on the pedal are 1-6, and then you can use the DMC.micro or any other compatible MIDI controller to load presets 1-6. They recall in the same order you stored them.

Not unless the cable is specifically "OTG" ready. Google "OTG" - "On The Go" -- it's a spedification that lets two devides hook up, explicitly making one act as a "host" -- without it, both devices act like "peripherals" and the necessary communications can't occur. I'm not sure what, specifically, how the devices in this video are playing the host/peripheral roles, but one has to be the host, and that's where the host adapter comes in, even if it just looks like a USB A to mini B converter.

You can send a MIDI CC message to tap tempo to the C4 using the UTIL mode, or you could use our MIDI Y-cable to input MIDI clock from another device in your setup. The DMC.micro doesn't generate its own clock. Alternatively you could look at one of our larger controllers like the DMC-3XL Gen3, DMC-4 Gen3, DPC-5 Gen3 etc which all have USB Host functionality and will generate MIDI clock.

Sometimes you can, it dependson the cable. USB-OTG relies on pin 5 (the "ID" pin) being grounded so that the hosting device knows it has a peripheral connected. We now have a slightly better way to handle this setup, just use the Neuro cable that comes with your C4 and connect to the MultiJack of the DMC. The C4 isn't super robust over USB MIDI, esp. if you're sending clock, and the 1/4" to 1/8" connection bypasses that issue.

As much as i paid for this pedal, it shouldn't be this complicated and need other outboard hardware or software. It's a BS pedal that isn't worth the price.

Hi, I can get a USB mini to USB mini cable (male to male). Can I just use that to connect the DMC to my C4 and skip the gHost adapter part??

Maybe, depends on the cable. If it's USB-OTG compatible it may work, but so far we haven't had any reports of male-male cables working correctly,

@@DisasterAreaDesigns OK. I bought the pedal in Canada from an authorized dealer (Montreal) and they didn't have the gHost cable... Can I order this from you guys, or from some local source?

@@eBassChuck Amazon has something that should work - look for USB mini OTG and you should be in good shape. We can sell you one but the shipping will be stupid expensive for this little cable.
