It was a mistake to design for 200 players because they will never get 200 players working well. This has been a problem with online games for the past decade+ in gaming. It's really difficult to have a multiplayer server synchronize more than 100 players. The community servers with 150 struggle with lag. Even Star Citizen with a billion dollars haven't solved this problem yet and has 100 player server cap. They are working on a tool that will divide their game into as many servers as needed to overcome the problem. That just isn't happening in The Isle, so I don't know why they are designing around 200 players when they should be focusing on 100 + AI.
@@Oeslian I was gonna say. How have MMOs been doing it for forever then? And granted, some have done it better than others, but several can easily have 100s of people in one area and still have good ping and stable connections for everyone there. Enough for people to talk and trade and fight all at the same time. Im no expert, but I think its some sort of dynamic load sharing tech. But its been around and effective since atleast like 1998-99. I dont know the reasons for this or that limitation, but I know that it all comes back to sending and receiving information, and then rendering things locally based on that. If it was done effectively before almost 30 years ago, Im 100% certain theres no good reason for it not to be doable today
@@Oeslian Didn't realise this, thanks for bringing this up. It's a shame tho but something needs changing to help this out for the isle to truly thrive
I agree with everything you've said here, my dude the crackling sound has made me quit, gives me sensory issues and anxiety. Though I could do with the weather being a little shorter. I'm actually really grateful for the troodon because I feel like it's the only thing I have fun playing anymore, where as I mained Cera and Raptor before hand. Troo is easy to feed, don't need full diet to grow fast and its great fun with a big group but yeah, grass vision gets old really fast. Starvation seems to be dictating my fights to the point of having to do stupid fights cause I'm gonna die either way. Thanks for your insight dude.
Glad you agree with my points and I'm happy you enjoy troodon! It is important at the end of the day that enough players enjoy a variety of playables as this is what in the end leads to a great ecosystem in game. The stam unfortunately is what kills it for me as it really does make me spend more time away from the game sitting there which is not engaging at all, but hopefully this will be improved well enough in the next patch as I heard they are "tweaking" it
I think they handled the “its a walking simulator” critique by changing stamina so that people move around less. So now it’s sit and starve simulator. The issue isn’t that we were running around everywhere, the issue is that you run around just to find SOMETHING TO DO! We don’t need huge maps or 200+ player servers, we need reliable AI and more player vs player interaction. This game has become the dino survival equivalent of “a mile wide and an inch deep” 🙄
I think they're actively trying to tweak the stam system to be fair with every animal separately. Once they get the ai fleshed out and start making them more frequent most people will stop complaining about the stam system. Playing on unofficial servers with 150 players has been an amazing difference and the game is enjoyable. If the devs add more ai and increase server pop, the game will be in an infinitely better state.
I agree that more ai and/or players would make stamina and other issue go away and they SHOULD do that. My issue is that has been an issue forever on Spiro and they did nothing about it.
absolutely! I think the main issue there is server stability so hopefully that will be addressed soon. I find it kinda odd that the devs are putting so much effort into adding playable when improving the servers would have a greater impact on enjoyability. if some servers will have to be removed to make that work I'd personally be fine with that.
@@TheFlamingWeaselYeah, I know that stam is being worked on which is great, as they are improving the stam regen at least. But the rest of the bugs I hope are getting attention
"Once they get the ai fleshed out" we've been complaining about the AI spawns since legacy. I do not foresee them fixing this issue any time soon. The devs have a history of ignoring the pressing issues actively harming the experience to dick around with shit no one cares about.
It made Serato literally unplayable because you starve to death before you will ever find food and if you try using your stamina to run around get to food quicker you will not have the stamina needed to actually hunt and kill the player when you finally reach them
I agree with what your saying. Also the only thing I don't like about storms is as a carnivore it's really hard to listen for ai when the storm is so loud. It makes sense ofc but still sucks when ur starving and can't find anything.
The reasons I stop playing: 1. Lack of food and the non-existant hunting experience (seriously "hunting" is just stumbling around blindly, hoping to run into AI) 2. Stamina changes forcing you to just sit around instead of playing (I feel like I am scrolling more on my phone while playing evrima than actually playing) Its just boring and unrewarding. You are either starving or sitting or both and it doesnt leave room for anything else like nesting or exploring
I have quite a few problems with Gateway. _The stamina changes:_ why the fuck did they make this change? Part of the Isle experience, a _major_ part of the Isle experience, is RUNNING AROUND either looking for food or other players to group with or hunt. Stamina right now makes it so that you have to be extremely conservative with something as simple as running. Stamina regeneration is so incredibly slow, too slow for the stamina pool that we have. _No health bar:_ I hate that we can no longer see how much health we have. Our health bars enabled us to play smarter, weighing our odds in a fight, made survival easier in a game mode that's already extremely difficult and tedious. Taking it away is so frustrating. _Walking off cliffs simulator:_ My biggest complaint with Spiro is how many hills and cliffs you can fall off of and either shatter your femurs or straight up end your life. Gateway is Spiro on steroids. I've lost count of how many times I've broken legs or straight up died due to walking off some random cliff in the middle of the forest that's obscured by the dense foliage that you can barely see through. It's incredibly annoying that people spend more time healing bone breaks or having to regrow their dinosaurs that they've spent real life hours growing just because of that one inconspicuous cliff planted in the most random places, designed to ruin your day. _Carnivores are guaranteed to die to starvation:_ If you're playing a carnivore, other than Deinosuchus or Pteranadon, you are doomed to die to starvation. AI spawning is so few and far between and, tied with the awful stamina drain and regeneration, you are doomed to die a pitiful death to that now infamous red stomach icon. These are just the problems I have off the top of my head. I'm sure I could find more problems with it but I am actively avoiding playing Gateway with the state that it's in. I might just go back to playing Legacy. At least I can play Allo there
Yeah these are all unfortunately great points. I wish I could say no to any of them but I can't 😅 I honestly hope that the next patch does enough to fix issues, as what's the point in new Dino's if you can't even use them properly.
@@ucjgaming the thing is from what I've seen, the new dinos are all carnivores. So they would _also_ be prone to starvation like everyone else. I had a lot of hope for Evrima before and I enjoyed Spiro quite a bit. While Gateway is a beautiful map, its flaws and the updates that came with it are just not worth the struggle right now
Well said, apart from the issues u just mentioned my biggest issue is that there are so many useless small shitty dinos noone wants to play like beipi and they keep going for more of them(herrera-dilo),like cmon bring some mid tier-apex then get more smaller ones, if its gonna take you 6 months to release something new go for something ppl wanna play.game becomes very boring after a month or so with the current pool...at least for me
I agree mostly but I've ould say Dilo is actually a very popular Dino to most. Herrera at least adds a different playstyle and I would have been happy with it coming sooner, I do absolutely agree though with adding more mid tiers or pseudo-apexes like Acro for example. As no one does care about Hypsi/dryo. Beipi is good fun I'd say but only for a little bit so I find myself mainly playing Carno or Cerato when playing carnivores and of course Omni as it's a classic, but I do hope more mid tiers come soon and Apex's follow soon after. Let's see ay!
Sure, just like I mentioned with the leg break and healing, that is fair enough with the slow regen, yes that is more realistic but the stam needs changing mainly in my opinion, because it really does get boring as I just end up sitting on my phone more than playing the actual game lol
It doesn’t take monitor lizards nor does it take birds 3 mins to regen there stamina maybe after a really long flight or run 1 min or 2 but put this into game logic a big bird should only take around 2 mins to 1 minn30
Dondi and his moronic development decisions have killed this game completely. He turned this game into a sitting simulator where you spend 90% of your time sitting to get stamina back while you watch TH-cam videos. The vast majority of players who played dino games just want to be able to group up with their friends and run around hunting other players and having a good time. This game is not fun when you are trying to hunt something and you are starving but can't use any of your stamina to get to your prey or food item because it runs out so fast but if you decide you just walk everywhere and save your stamina you will start to death long before you ever reach another player to hunt or find food
Ever since gateway came out I played Cerato, Carno, Omni and a little bit of Deino, Troodon and Teno, and honestly I don't have much to complain about when it comes to stam. I have had quite a few reasons to love it actually, like since the healing and stamina regen is slower I can't just go fighting something else every 10 minutes and this means when I kill someone as a carnivore it encourages me to stay with the corpse as I heal, both since a full stomach means healing and resting faster and because if I'm not in good shape to hunt so if I left the body I might starve before I'm ready to hunt again. Another thing I like is to not be able to see exactly how much hp I have, makes me play more cautiously and actually helps me avoid dying because I'm a lot less likely to take unnecessary risks. So yea I think the game is mostly fine other than the bugs and performance issues, people just need to get used to it and change the way they play, don't play it like a deathmatch play it like a survival game.
What about the cliffs/hills? Do you not suffer from them? And fair enough I respect your view and thank you for sharing, I'm glad at least you are enjoying this version of the game 😊 Unfortunately for me I can't enjoy it properly with the stam regen being so slow, I don't mind it being slower and making us re-evaluate our options more but I do feel that the way it is portrayed now is poor, I understand your points but it being a survival game doesn't mean it should be this slow, because running away and fighting is part of the survival genre. And I think the only reason why it may have felt like a death match before is because of the lack of playables and the amount of time between updates helped it become more boring quicker so naturally people found other ways to enjoy the game.
@@ucjgaming When it comes to cliffs yea I break my legs a quite a lot more than I used to but it's usually when I'm not paying attention. And despite liking the direction they are taking with how stamina works I don't think it's perfect by any means. If it were up to me I'd probably make it so that stam regen was quite a bit faster in general if it's above like %90 so people could sprint for really small bursts at a time if they are desperate to find food or water. That honestly might be the only part I don't like about the new stam changes, I'd like to be able to sprint for a few seconds without having to z walk or stop just to regain that tiny bit of stamina back.
@@alunaticwithashotgun9840 Yeah I heard they are making the regen quicker in the next patch, but how much quicker I don't know yet, I only hope it's good
I agree. Great observations. I think the point of the game vs the playability needs to be evaluated by the developers. You did a great job of getting to key points👍🏼
I haven't played evrima in a loooooong while. Just before they released the cerato to play. Main reason was... the map was just so big and I rarely see people outside of hotspots. With new updates, it just seemed worse with the stam stuff. I would rather just watch players on youtube than play the game myself because I don't want to spend time with my dino just sitting.
What i don´t understand is....why? The devs once said that they don´t want people to afk but with the stamina changes that happened that´s exactly what we do most of the time...after all after every fight/hunt you need to sit down 5+ minutes. Lets be honest...Beipi and Ptera took the biggest hit...especially when you are a ptera and at times it takes half stamina just to take off. As for the night vision on gateway...I like it to some extend but I can absolutely not fish as Ptera as I can´t see. It´s just black. I also injured myself several times because of the darkness And you can always afk and then automatically know where to find food since you can smell the migration zone which never made sense to me. Like...plants aren´t restricted to an area. It would make more sense if they could appear elsewhere but more scattered. I said that multiple times to friends and other.
Yeah agreed, I haven't even touched PT as I heard it's not good to play. And exactly! The plants can all be in migration but there should still be diet around the map scattered around so people can explore and also just not be forced to go migration
@@ucjgaming I go Ptera because you should be able to fly and explore without having to worry but it's annoying. Especially since you sit extremely long on PT for stam. Definitely. It would also challenge the carnis as they can't be 100% sure their food is in migration zone. Which then would go against afking as they need to make sure they have food.
Stamina - absolutely hate the change to the point I don't even play anymore at all, devs patting them selves on the back doesn't give me hope it will be properly addressed anytime soon or at all. Small tweaks will not fix this issue of game being boring. Gateway map - looks good on paper, but in reality game is not designed for that much hills - because the dinos are really fast - they will fly off the smallest hill. No simple solution here, so its best to deal with it as is. Humans - the game doesn't need them at all, but since its already promised - the thing that concerns me is that implementation of FPS is really bad, don't wanna get too technical but they went with poor implementation of TFP (true first person) instead of doing it the old fashioned way (FPS models are separate to 3rd person models). This results in janky movements and will most likely not be very fun to play. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt they might fix humans, but when I saw someone holding a gun on one of the streams it confirmed to me it will be just as janky as the flashlight demo humans that we got to try. Camera is locked on the head of the character instead of on a collision capsule, this means you will feel every movement of the animations in the camera and it will make some people nauseous playing it. There are lots of examples of TFP working well, the isle is the opposite example unfortunately, its TFP for a game that doesn't need it and would be better without it. Devs - listen to common sense, objectively the stamina changes made the game a lot more boring and will deter both old players and new ones.
Agreed and I appreciate the explanation of FPS and TFP, as I know little about it. Edit: also what I never understood with these game Devs is that everything they do they act like it's never been done before, yeah sure Dino's like this haven't actually been done before in this way, but now we have more games coming out and some are better at it with other issues of course. But humans lol, humans have been playable in so many ways and held so many weapons and lights, shot so many types of guns, and somehow they can't do it even half right, I literally play humans because of how bad they are it actually makes me laugh, it's a sort of entertainment 😅 But it shouldn't be like that
@@ucjgaming tnx, no problem... I'm a dev too so I know a few things under the hood. As to why the FPS is bad as it is, my guess is only one person is working on it and its mostly swept under the rug due to other more important stuff (dino related work). Once they made the decision to have TFP its kind of hard to go back on that, but in my opinion that hard decision to scrap TFP should be done now - when its still early human development... the more they stick with it the harder it will be later. One downside to regular FPS development is that you have to have 2 sets of animations for it, one for FP and one for 3P.... so they probably though we will kill 2 birds with one stone by having it be TFP (one set of animations). Example of TFP done right is "Dayz" for example, difference is they have a large team working on humans exclusively and have shipped multiple TFP games already so they have the experience to do it right. So its not impossible to do right, but its not easy either.
"People complained that it was a walking simulator but now its a sitting simulator" This is so goddamn true. Gameplay has become so boring most of the time. I play the isle and am more on my phone than paying attention because I am just sitting down all the time
Yeah, the amount of tiktok I ingest now thanks to the isle and how it is now is crazy lol Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it for years, playing, chilling and watching other videos whilst growing at times but too much of that and it becomes the flip of that lol
100 % true. Everyone I have played with sits down to get stamina and then they all table and watch TH-cam videos because it takes so insanely long to get your stamina back and it is beyond boring
Exploration one is weird to me, as the new Stam mechanic is often brought up as something that stops exploration, I am almost an exclusive explorer type player, exploring if its done in a few run throughs and is easy is very disappointing to me, I really like that journeying out has risks and isn't fast and easy, really makes it feel like an achievement and each journey memorable, so I really don't get were exploring is hurt for the true explorer type, unless all you want is a quick and dirty run around the map, which would suck for me if that is all it ended up being Such a great map should not just be bolted through and learnt in a day, it should take a long time
I absolutely agree, maybe I wasn't clear enough on that part so my mistake! What I mean is that I would like to explore and not quickly at all but with any Dino. If I choose Hypsi sure it won't be an issue, but if I choose a larger herbivore then I have to pretty much rely on grass and that is not right to me as food should be spread out more and migration should just offer all the food, and also migration should spread out more and across the map from like north to south so you have to travel properly. But I do know they are working on this so that hopefully will come in time. As for predators it's harder to the point of not even doable, at least in my experience, I love exploring and not being able to find AI or other players most of the time outside of migration stops this for me. And with the way stam regen is at the moment I end up sitting too much for too long, and yes it may slow it down but I honestly feel its too much
All good, I hope the next update addresses the stam somewhat as it's obviously not fun for many, I have gotten use to it, but I don't want to play alone.. lol@@ucjgaming
Honestly the biggest problem is smelling mechanic. Before the big rework I could find the dead body much easier even in darkness. It just showed red particles towards the item and then item itself was red. Even as ptera I could find some leftover and spot it from sky. Now not only you have to sniff for a long time, but I had moments where body was in bushes and I ran past it 5 times trying to understand where it is. I can't see it because of grass/branches etc. the prompt to eat only activates when you are specificaly in right place (your head too far even if you are standing on top of the body? no food for you) and compass is useless to pinpoint food. Last day I starved to dead as juvi herrera because it showed me food - I ran and it showed it on top of a rock, so I climbed getting on top, started to walk and then food icon dissapears. I went around this mini mountain thinking there is a cave, again searched the top, nothing! It looked like the food just dropped under textures, but with shitty compass you will never understand it. I wasted time and died shortly after. With older system it starts to pinpoint directly from the source the moment you really close, so it was much better option. And honestly we need more HUD, yes I know devs want it as realistic as possible, but in the game where few seconds can decide you life, or death - we need proper feedback. WTH is the new heartbeat instead of showing how much HP% we have left? It's not my body getting hurt, so I cannot tell how much I fucked. Or how severe the injury and how long it will take to heal, the only way to know is just looking when red text will dissapear... And if dinos getting unique abilities, we need visual representation of this skill and cooldown on HUD. Ok that's enough of rambling. Sorry for the wall of text.
It’s amazing to me, that every time the devs add something good to the game (the gateway map in this example), they always find a way to fuck the game up alongside it. Iv started playing smaller herbs recently, only because I like the ability to run more than 5 feet without having to walk or sit down for a few minutes after. It’s there own fault why people are leaving for POT.
I think they should let player from legacy come and play like they used to (only as an option on some servers!) (with a general group and local chat, mixpackng (no limit) and being able to see your friends name from far away)
If nesting could also make NPC dinos (maybe they all have the same unique skin so people can tell) then nesting could be fun to do to watch a dino population grow in an area and also populated the map for carnivores.
The Ai now spawn by randomly choosing a player and appearing "near" them. Causing hot spots to form, mostly in the east planes lakes. They just need to change it so it prioritizes spawning AI for players closer or in the migration zones and a few occasional at the spawn areas so carnivores can get some food and move toward the Migrations. So far I have not had a big issue with the Stam, as it is a resource that needs managed and keeps the player from running across the map and allows the player to notice the AI that might spawn near them when they are resting in a spot for a while.
Yeah I think stam now as it is, is pretty good. It's good enough to manage but not too good that you just can run for ever, it adds a good mentality for people to learn. As for AI yes I completely agree there should be more and more spread out as I am tired of only playing in NE and NE plains. Like migration should be the fix for this but so far there is a lot of work for migration that needs doing
@@ucjgaming as someone that loves playing pteranadon, would be nice to go to the coastal migration zones and actually find crabs and sea turtles because rn.. no one is hanging around the coast long enough for them to spawn
Reasons why I play less: the constant issues with rubber banding, mini-freezes and lags. Doesn't matter what pc you you have, it's gonna happen. the unsolved bugs with things like pounce bugs being the top of the list since they usually mean death for the pouncer. stam and how unbalanced it is with food/water drain just makes it less fun. I don't want to sit in a bush trying to regen while I watch myself starve. the sheer size of the map and trying to find people outside of migration (even within migration) just happens so little I get bored. I don't want to be forced to highlands constantly. and well, I just don't think they know what to in terms of player interactions. surely the idea is to have players interact with each other? but yet we have a giant map that they seem to just want filled with AI since you're not going to find other players.
As Ptera player, the stam is worse than any other dino. Sprinting on the ground or in air takes stam so fast and then 4 mns for regen is a lot. The night vision is very bad now. Even if certain dinos had bad NV in real life, we should remember that's this is a game and much of what is real should change to make the game playable and fun. Don't get me started on the optimization issue. I upgraded my gpu to RTX 3060 but now I have stutters every 15 seconds where FPS drops to below 15 and go back to normal again 70+. I didn't see any player with the issue. Could it be my cpu (ryzen 5 3500x) or my motherboard (b450m A-pro max) not being compatible with my gpu? I have 16 gb ram. Anyone with this issue of stuttering like me?
Stamina regeneration could be speeded up a bit and artificial animals could be increased. One thing that saddens the belt is that the flying lizards have become cannibals, you can no longer hang out with others.
It sucks, i spawn somewere and have to run across the whole map as a newspawn because of the fucking migration and some migration zones are so dumb, much food and rare water for semi aquatic and you are lucky if you pick the right spawn, i just want to spawn and play and not spawn and run to just walk the whole time to eat and search for water
They need to either add more players preferably 200 or make the map smaller remove the unnecessary shit like those big ass aviaries or atleast make entrances so we don’t have to go around them, or the giant cliffs and rocks placed for no other reason than oh just a big rock there cool! I think one cool idea would to be adding older maps back into the game they were a perfect combo of big areas but no unnecessary stuff inbetween one reason I love v3 as a map and think it should comeback
The isle really should take notes from better Dino Survival games like PoT where it comes to food like burrows or nests that are scattered throughout the map that give you small hunts that can slightly fill your food bar and keep you from starving 24/7.
In addition to all of the issues mentioned the community itself also causes unnecessary issues ontop of the issues the game itself already presents imo. The game really feels like a dino deathmatch currently, if you can even survive not starving to death on way to adult. You have a few areas where AI seems to somewhat reliably spawns forcing the majority of carnivoes into small areas of that huge map. In those areas everyone just kills everyone without any hesitation. You get killed by your own species even if they are not cannibalistic. You get chased to the end of the world by hyper aggressive herbivores. You have mixpackers everywhere. The servers are dominated by one species at a time. Many species are being left completely untouched. In legacy the usage of dinos felt way more varied. People seemed to have liked being prey by playing Dryo and other things. There is no real incentive to get 3 diets aside from faster growth, sure, but neither were there any incentives to play semi-realistic in legacy yet people did it... Majority of people play on the no rules official servers, custom servers are almost completely dead. Only one decent semi-realism option around where you have some semblance of "normal" The Isle legacy feeling. It is pretty sad because The Isle is a fun game that is almost constantly just frustrating with all the issues it has
Yeah I see your points. I really changed the way I play because of Evrima, not going to lie and say I don't have fun when it's fun by being more aggressive, as I do enjoy it. But I really do miss playing a more survival type game like legacy was. I almost always played herbie and liked being trike and play defensive or play Diablo and have the opportunity to defend, fight or escape. And you are completely right that now most of the game is just pvp all the time and it seems that is what most are interested in. I can only hope oth more playables coming this will slowly change but it could be too far gone, who knows. And yeah the long waits between updates and playables just makes it so when a new dino comes out then everyone plays only that for a while until nerfs happen or people finally get bored, like it's normal for most to play something new in a game but it's exaggerated in the isle because of the wait times between updates
Path of Titans is such a better game than this. You can actually travel around the entire map and not have to worry about running out of stamina and spending the next 10 minutes trying to get it back. I really don't know why Dondi is so dead set on destroying his game and making it so only 20 people want to play
I mean I wouldn't really compare the 2 games. Only because they both have dinosaurs doesn't mean they play the same or are meant to. I do agree tho that pot actually does everything better, but it's arcadey feel and bright colours with weird movements (my opinion) makes it not the game for me. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy it time to time but the isle, is more realistic and better looking. But unfortunately has poor development thanks to Dondi. If the pot Devs where to do the game for us I'm sure they would do it justice. But apart from them both having dinosaurs they do act and play very different
@@ucjgaming yeah me and all my friends have moved to path of Titans and are having a lot more fun. The Isle seems like it wants to become a dino survival simulator instead of a fun game. I would actually play the aisle if they gave dinos more stamina regen and fix a few things that make the game more fun because right now the game just feels tedious to play and stressful
Another mention is that they took away the health stat. i have no idea how bad im hurt or how long till i starve to death because all i have to gauge it now is the blood splatter at the edge of the screen and to me, a minor fall or critical damage looks identical. SO frustrating!
I would suggest looking at the bar when you open the tab where your heart (health) used to be and under that you now have the green/yellow/amber/red heard beat, the faster that beats the closer to the next colour (or death if on red) you are. And green ofc if full health, yes it's annoying that they took away the previous health check but I think it's still understandable with the way they have it. Hope my explanation helped in some way :)
@@ucjgaming Thank you. That might explain why i couldn't tell a difference. I have Protan colorblindness so reds and greens mess me up... 😅 So i guess I'll look for fast movement and closer peaks on the electrocardiogram 👍🏻
i feel like there is way WAY, may i reiterate A HOT GOD DAMN TOO MUCH FOREST. compare the amount of open space (which is naturally appealing as we can exactly "smell" animals in the game as is, only glowy prints that are basically invisible with the thick forest brush, blood, or they have meat on them) in spiro to gateway with heatmaps in mind (meaning the far western side of gateway is a nono). gateway has 2 mediocerishly sized plains next to each other and then 3 small ones a little west of the center of the map, and keep in mind the two different sizes are not close to each other. then spiro has a huge ass plateau in the middle of the map, another huge one a small hike to the northwest, and then three nicely sized ones scattered about for those who like to take things a little easy. that is a ginormous gameplay difference, because if u get kicked out of one place in gateway, u dont exactly have many options, and ai also has so so many trees to hide behind. then secluded ponds and bridges exist frequently, making deinos stuck in two to three lakes, far from each other, with little change. then with the huge amount of trees, and the hotspot that is north east, as a carni, herbis are not easily found and those that are found are in big packs, ergo food is not easily food, meaning death and ragequit, and then herbi's cant find some action so they get bored and leave. its a beautiful map and a giant screw up simply caused by too many trees
The fact that bepie have to be in a migration zone to be able to get diets from fish is just the dumbest thing I Aldo feel ptera is now unplayable now that with fog you can't see anything and you can't even take off without loosing half you Stam now that wouldn't be a problem is it took like 1 minute to get it back now 5 minutes really?! I just feel everything I log in i either can't see anything starve to death or just get bord within the first five minutes and I just don't feel like playing and give up anyways I might continue my rant we will see
As a dinosuchus main, I hate this new update. It isn't fun at all. No fish (4 hours I found 1 only), under water sight SUCKS. Night vision SUUUUUUCKS. To much water with 0 bottlenecks to camp. The only thing I found to eat are other deinosuchus who died from starvation. IT SUCKS.
you have every point that i have, not to be mean to the devs but they really dont care about their players ''lemme report a bug or a problem'' devs doesnt care
Yeah it's unfortunate, I don't like hating on the devs or anything, I gain no pleasure from it. I want the game to succeed as I love it, and of course I even make videos on it. But it really does seem that some devs (not saying names) just don't really care
We didnt need gateway. we need yall to properly balance the combat, and the ai system. Then stop releasing each new dino as over powered. Please and thank you.
Brah its total trash i just played on official server with 95 people and there were 0 people and 0 food around and i was in the migration and in the oasis nothing dude this game is total shit now before it was crapy because many reasons but at least it was fun now its total shit total they nailed it under the ground with this one
I would suggest being around north east and north east planes. Usually this is where I find everyone now. And maybe try some unofficial servers, as some have higher player counts too :)
I think Legacy is a lot of fun. Sure the tail riding is annoying, I hate losing a Rex to one Utah 😅 But apart from that it's a fun game to play with friends and to find new ones. And Evrima is slowly going in the right direction with it's new Hord testing update in my eyes, as long as they actually fix fatal errors
Let me know if you have faced these same issues or perhaps even some other ones 🫴
A possible reason for starving so much is gate way should be a 200 player map for sure and being at 100 player cap makes finding people way harder
Yes for sure, 200 players should be a thing by now, I know they want to do it but why the wait, or at least 150 for now
It was a mistake to design for 200 players because they will never get 200 players working well.
Yup. More players means more food and more player interactions.
Note that the latest patch on the testing branch is already adressing stamina.
That's so good to hear. Are there any patch notes I can read somewhere to see what they are tweaking?
Fan-fucking-tastic to hear!
@@feyytime5571 the the content creator Kouga made a good in depth video explaining the update
@@RiskRule thank you!
Agreed 👍 More ai and more work to them. And bigger officials servers would help too
I agree that more ai and/or players would make stamina and other issue go away and they SHOULD do that.
I feel like the new stam works for CERTAIN playables but, its made so many of the smaller dinos almost unplayable. Definitely needs some tweaking.
Yeah, it's not the worst idea what they did, but definitely needs a better execution. Hopefully they make it better when new playables come out
It made Serato literally unplayable because you starve to death before you will ever find food and if you try using your stamina to run around get to food quicker you will not have the stamina needed to actually hunt and kill the player when you finally reach them
Sad to say weather even has a bug fog messes with night vision sometimes where u cant see anything lol
Yeah I have that fog bug
I agree with what your saying. Also the only thing I don't like about storms is as a carnivore it's really hard to listen for ai when the storm is so loud. It makes sense ofc but still sucks when ur starving and can't find anything.
Yeah, definitely the point of storms as well as general immersion but I do agree when hungry it's easy to get hAngry 😅
The reasons I stop playing:
1. Lack of food and the non-existant hunting experience (seriously "hunting" is just stumbling around blindly, hoping to run into AI)
2. Stamina changes forcing you to just sit around instead of playing (I feel like I am scrolling more on my phone while playing evrima than actually playing)
Its just boring and unrewarding. You are either starving or sitting or both and it doesnt leave room for anything else like nesting or exploring
Agreed 👍
I wish I could say no to any of them but I can't 😅
I honestly hope that the next patch does enough to fix issues, as what's the point in new Dino's if you can't even use them properly.
@@ucjgaming the thing is from what I've seen, the new dinos are all carnivores. So they would _also_ be prone to starvation like everyone else. I had a lot of hope for Evrima before and I enjoyed Spiro quite a bit. While Gateway is a beautiful map, its flaws and the updates that came with it are just not worth the struggle right now
@@WiFiDown37811 Yeah, I'm shocked that I miss the Spiro days 😅 But damn they where actually good.
Healing slow = realistic
Slow Stamina = unrealistic
makes sense
point he was making was it isn't fun regening stam
Sure, just like I mentioned with the leg break and healing, that is fair enough with the slow regen, yes that is more realistic but the stam needs changing mainly in my opinion, because it really does get boring as I just end up sitting on my phone more than playing the actual game lol
It doesn’t take monitor lizards nor does it take birds 3 mins to regen there stamina maybe after a really long flight or run 1 min or 2 but put this into game logic a big bird should only take around 2 mins to 1 minn30
@@TheKingofCoralbirds don’t lose stam while gliding either but. Well. Here we are…….with ptera stam drain while airborne 😂
Yeah it's a big shame. Apprentice it's too much to ask for a game to have fun with for them
Ever since gateway came out I played Cerato, Carno, Omni and a little bit of Deino, Troodon and Teno, and honestly I don't have much to complain about when it comes to stam.
And fair enough I respect your view and thank you for sharing, I'm glad at least you are enjoying this version of the game 😊
Unfortunately for me I can't enjoy it properly with the stam regen being so slow, I don't mind it being slower and making us re-evaluate our options more but I do feel that the way it is portrayed now is poor, I understand your points but it being a survival game doesn't mean it should be this slow, because running away and fighting is part of the survival genre.
Thank you DEX, I'm happy to know I'm at least making some good points here 💚
I haven't played evrima in a loooooong while. Just before they released the cerato to play. Main reason was... the map was just so big and I rarely see people outside of hotspots. With new updates, it just seemed worse with the stam stuff. I would rather just watch players on youtube than play the game myself because I don't want to spend time with my dino just sitting.
Yeah it is really unfortunate, I do know they are working to improve the stamina regen, but how well that execution will be is still yet to see!
I also injured myself several times because of the darkness
And you can always afk and then automatically know where to find food since you can smell the migration zone which never made sense to me.
The thing is, the isle devs suck at making the right decisions..
@@kichmadev Understood and thanks for the insight once again 🤠
What game are you currently working on if you don't mind me asking?
"People complained that it was a walking simulator but now its a sitting simulator" This is so goddamn true. Gameplay has become so boring most of the time. I play the isle and am more on my phone than paying attention because I am just sitting down all the time
Yeah, the amount of tiktok I ingest now thanks to the isle and how it is now is crazy lol
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it for years, playing, chilling and watching other videos whilst growing at times but too much of that and it becomes the flip of that lol
100 % true. Everyone I have played with sits down to get stamina and then they all table and watch TH-cam videos because it takes so insanely long to get your stamina back and it is beyond boring
@@kenshinhimura9387 agreed
Exploration one is weird to me, as the new Stam mechanic is often brought up as something that stops exploration, I am almost an exclusive explorer type player, exploring if its done in a few run throughs and is easy is very disappointing to me, I really like that journeying out has risks and isn't fast and easy, really makes it feel like an achievement and each journey memorable, so I really don't get were exploring is hurt for the true explorer type, unless all you want is a quick and dirty run around the map, which would suck for me if that is all it ended up being
Such a great map should not just be bolted through and learnt in a day, it should take a long time
I absolutely agree, maybe I wasn't clear enough on that part so my mistake!
@@smefour Let's hope for a good one next, hopefully I'll run into you I game 🤠
That would be great!@@ucjgaming
Yeah but but but dilo....
Hallucinations 😂😂😂😂
And I thought I was silly
Are you happy with Dilo having this skill?
Yep, and I wonder if we will ever get an update where it will actually almost all be good lol
I think they should let player from legacy come and play like they used to (only as an option on some servers!) (with a general group and local chat, mixpackng (no limit) and being able to see your friends name from far away)
thanks to the stam cut, they destroyed gameplay by far
I've heard they are improving the stam regen in the next patch, hopefully it will be good enough
If nesting could also make NPC dinos (maybe they all have the same unique skin so people can tell) then nesting could be fun to do to watch a dino population grow in an area and also populated the map for carnivores.
That actually would be really cool!
I can see that you'll be a very big channel in the future.
I appreciate the kind words Frog 🐸
Reasons why I play less:
the constant issues with rubber banding, mini-freezes and lags.
No way, the Herreras? I haven't come across them yet actually. Let's hope for a better outcome next patch/update!
9 years of Early Acess...like...cmon
Yeah....
Which Equipment do you use for recording your Videos?
Hey! I use OBS Studio to record my videos. Blue Yeti Mic. And as for what's I'm my computer it's in the description of this video :)
V3 would be awesome to see come back with updated graphics! But I doubt this would happen unfortunately, we can dream 😐

do u know about any optimization (fps) in new patch?
Not about the FPS unfortunately, but I know stam regen should be improving, how much tho I am unsure of as of now
The isle really should take notes from better Dino Survival games like PoT where it comes to food like burrows or nests that are scattered throughout the map that give you small hunts that can slightly fill your food bar and keep you from starving 24/7.
@@kenshinhimura9387 Yeah it is unfortunate, let's hope that it moves to a better and more positive next patch ay
I just feel everything I log in i either can't see anything starve to death or just get bord within the first five minutes and I just don't feel like playing and give up anyways I might continue my rant we will see
Yeah the isle is I'm a real sad state at the moment, it's a shame. Hopefully this version will end soon enough and a better version will be upon us
That stego gameplay was rough
Indeed it was
As a dinosuchus main, I hate this new update. It isn't fun at all. No fish (4 hours I found 1 only), under water sight SUCKS. Night vision SUUUUUUCKS. To much water with 0 bottlenecks to camp. The only thing I found to eat are other deinosuchus who died from starvation. IT SUCKS.
BRO I JUST WANNA BE A SOLO REX OR TALK TO MY PACK THATS IT AND I WILL PLAY THE GAME!!
I hear you and agree, it's too restrictive atm
constant crashes are the real problem
Yes this is true also. They uploaded a patch for this today, has it been fixed? As I haven't been on
@@ucjgaming the isle fixed, lol.
@@_solitario_3720 I know, imagine that 👁️👃👁️
i see AI about once every other starved dino
Edit: Between stam changes, fog, rain, and nighttime duration...game is complete trash
Yeah, unfortunately so. I have heard that stam regen is getting worked on at least in a positive aspect
you have every point that i have, not to be mean to the devs but they really dont care about their players ''lemme report a bug or a problem'' devs doesnt care
And maybe try some unofficial servers, as some have higher player counts too :)
dude this map its so horribl.
Yeah looks great but doesn't work as well as Spiro
The isle has potential, however I’m sorry to say I think that evrima will end up being a giant piece of crap like
Legacy.
@@ucjgaming my biggest issue with legacy was the hit boxes not just being a little off but way off.
I think dinosaur simulators are just bad in general
How comes?
