That's why he is the greatest singer ever.
John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time. John’s vocal range, passion, emotion, mic technique and breath support is amazing. This is John’s arrangement on the Beatles classic song and I think this is the best version of it. Once you go down the John Farnham rabbit hole(with over 50 years of singing) you’ll get lost in the epic music he has done over all those years.
He IS The Voice. An absolute - and beloved - Legend here in Australia. Check out his " You're The Voice' { total - and still current 'anthem'} and his emotional "Burn for You" that he wrote for his lovely wife. AND Sooooo much more. Enjoy your Farnsie Journey. 😊

This is THE cover of the Beatles song. John first recorded this in 1980. This was a live performance of it 9 years later.
Welcome to the John Farnham rabbit hole it’s long and Illustrious one.. the reason the crowds was into the song was because this was a hit back 1980 for John and this concert was in 1989 so 9 years after he release it so it was very popular song and everyone would sing it.. John has been around since 1967 at the age of 17/18 he will be turning 73 this year he is a living legend here in Australia and is know as The Voice because he is the greatest sing on the planet too many of us..There is so much of Johns music on here including his concerts as when he’d go on tour with a new album they would televised them as his concerts would always be sold out.. Anyway always always do John live he is phenomenal as he has hit after hit.. you play any Aussie artists and us Aussie will be here watching. John & Jimmy Barnes are held in high regard in Australia they have a very huge and loyal fan base.. both are living legends in there own right and a great friends.. 🧐😊🇦🇺
John Farnham is a natural talent and has never had a singing lesson. His powerful vocal range is from A2 to G5. He is an absolute professional and a wonderful showman with a career spanning five decades. His performances are energetic, charismatic, versatile ,playful and funny. His interpretive ability is incredible. John sings with passion and most of his songs have a positive message. John is well-loved by his fellow Australians. Always watch him LIVE and see him shine!

The thing you need to remember about this performance is that it came at the end of a 2hr concert. John is Aussie royalty - we love him to bits. Even now into his 70s he has this voice. If you're looking for a more contemporary but still amazing Aussie vocalist, look no further than Guy Sebastian. Have a listen to his song Before I Go.

Jonny is a national treasure for us! I’m from Melbourne and have loved his music since I was little (bought my second CD as a kid and it was John Farnham’s first anthology 😂). My daughter who is now 8 loves his music also. Tip of the day: look up his life history… he’s been through so much… what a legend!
Loved it once again. I used to listen and watch this performance on VHS. Now someone counts the views. How great is that? Listen to Burn for you or Angel's. Love them both. Oh, forgot When the war is over.
John in his 70s now and can still belt out this song… might need a nana nap after it but he still has it…
When Something Is Wrong With My Baby with Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham HAS to be the next song you have a look at - amazing performance live or recorded - both are brilliant.
John has been around for a long time. since 1967 when he sang SADIE THE CLEANING LADY on TV to be exact. That's on YT. He also has done some wonderful arrangements with Olivia Newton John. They both did a song called DARE TO DREAM at the opening ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics - again on YT. Also a concert with Australia's phantom from PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (Andrew Warlow) and ONJ together called THE MAIN EVENT (again on YT). John was the King of Pop in his earlier days and is now in his 70's. He and ONJ had a similar history, both being born in England and coming to Australia in the 50's and settling in Melbourne, Victoria and getting their start on Melbourne TV. He's known here as THE VOICE and if you get to see any of his other work you will know why.
I agree, ALWAYS go the live version. He comes alive on stage and his voice loses nothing.

Loved your reaction to John Farnham. If you watch more of his live performances (I'm sure you will lol) you'll get to know that his interaction with the audience is what he loves...he has a wicked sense of humor too. He makes one feel like he's singing just to you lol. This particular song was sung at the end of a 2 hour show....everyone of the songs is worth watching and reviewing imho... Seems like the crowd was familiar with the song. LOL. First time hearing John Farnham, he can really bring it. Great, lush sound, and the sax was way cool in this version. Love when a crowd is as into a song as the artist, it brings great energy to a performance. Happy Memorial Day, and thanks.

John is the GOAT. He can just sing any genre. John and Jimmy Barnes singing Something is wrong with my baby is something you should see. Usually I would say always watch JF live performances, but the video bar version of this is phenomenal. Another amazing Aussie artist to look out for is Guy Sebastian. His Battle Scars at home Anzac day version will blow your mind.
Farnsy is a legend here in Australia. I was there at that concert. Unreal. He is incredible and has a massive range. He can sing any genre of music. Please listen to some more of Farnsy, but make sure it is always live.
Playing to Win and You’re the Voice both from the same concert with the Melbourne Symphony orchestra are the best. Anything by John sung live is brilliant
You’ve just stumbled upon Australia’s greatest ever! You’re in for a long ride. You should do When The War Is Over the 720P version from The Last Time concert in 2003! Man, when he hits that third verse! He’s amazing live, make sure you do them live. We’re not kidding when we say he’s brilliant live. You just saw that there. His arrangement has also been covered by greats such as Tina Turner. And John Lennon actually said that he loved johns version as he had originally wantwd it to be a ballad.
John Farnham has literally had number 1 hits in every decade from the 60', 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's and 2015.
He can sing pretty much any genre ...from hard rock, soft rock, pop, country, blues, jazz, musical theatre, opera..comedy
Let us know what genre you prefer and we can send you more suggestions. His most famous song is called "The Voice" which was a number hit just about everywhere in the world except in the US

Australia does their own thing. Missy Higgins is a great singer and she and Tim Minchin do an amazing job on his song Carry You. Tim is hard to describe but well known in the U.K. and USA as well as Australia. Try Rock n Roll Nerd for him to explain himself.
Such a great version of the classic song! John has so many great songs and is always amazing live!
John was teaching himself to play this song on piano and was playing it slowly, just to get used to the chords, and decided he preferred the song at the slower tempo. When John Lennon heard it, he said that it was the tempo that the Beatles wanted to record it at. It was only the record company that wanted it sped up. (Personal, I read George Martin, their producer at the time, for record company.)

1) he’s the nicest most down to earth genuine guy you’ll ever meet
2) he has a 3 octave vocal range on par with Freddy Mercury and Robert Plant

I guess the next step is to go Farnsey and Barnsey belting a song out together. Recorded is great but LIVE is an experience.
Check out cold chisel which jimmy barnes is the lead singer . Songs like “when the war is over “ and “ wild thing” are awesome way to start . Check out when jimmy went solo by listening to “ working class man “ or “ driving wheels “ also . Make sure you do the live versions of all these to see him in full flight 👍 ps enjoy your reactions 👌
Agree I think When the War is Over and Bow River are great Cold Chisel songs to start with.. but I’m thinking that the official videos of Working class man and Driving wheels are best?? - as much as I love Jimmy live there aren’t any decent live performances on TH-cam I’ve found of these two specific songs.

Matt Corby live from triple J radio station singing Brother, abt his feeling of guilt, remorse and anger at himself for sleeping with his mates gf. It ruined his friendship. Guy Sebadtian live from his home studio singing Battle Scars and him singing live Standing with You abt depression.
You can't go wrong with John or Jimmy (I grew up with them) and I am sure you will get so so many suggestions - so I will throw another singer at you - you cannot miss - The Teskey Brothers - and try 'Hold Me' live at Live at the Forum (if you like crowd participation it's awesome) these guys are young and current but unique as well (even though John and Jimmy are still performing)
Have a look at an Aussie band called 'Taxi Ride" You'll love em'.

It is often said, he could sing his shopping list and it would sound great. There is one rule - for the full Farnham experience it has to be a live performance, not the official studio clip. He covers all genres - Rock, pop, ballad, rock opera, opera, jazz, even gospel. For a next Farnham track I would suggest "You're the Voice" from the same MSO concert (th-cam.com/video/6m2m_9Uijso/w-d-xo.html). That was his breakout single and this is my favourite performance of it. It became an anthem here in Oz. And the lyrics are so pertinent to today.

Just live this ballad. Words clear. The Beatles didn't do it justice as sang too fast and the beat was enticing. They were mature beyond their years writing these lyrics. John's song now.❤
