He's our Pavarotti, a gift to us mere mortals from the Heavens. He's full of love and that transcends to us in his voice. I love your reactions so so much - full of happiness, smiles and instant love. I am in tears every time I hear this song; Lennon screaming out for help. Both John's open their hearts and the love shines forth. Thank you for sharing your first reactions.
Hi Eugene, thank you for your kind and thoughful comment. Yes John is magnificent. He is an absolute treasure. You are lucky to call him one of your own. I have done a few reactions to John now and I am blown away every time. There will definitely be more to come 🤩💗
Vocal range of 3.5 octaves. John Lennon heard this in 1980, a few months before he died. He gave his approval, as did Paul McCartney. Nothing like Meat Loaf. He screwed up his last performance in Melbourne, something John Farnham would never do.
An American who loves this Aussie’s music. Magnificent in every way. Try his duet with Jimmy Barnes “When Something is Wrong With My Baby” and his duet with Olivia Newton John of “ Please Don’t Ask Me”. You won’t regret it.
Hi Karl, I will definitely check out the songs you suggested. I have never heard of Jimmy Barnes either so that will be cool as well. I of course have heard of ONJ so that will be fun to hear. Also, a Canadian who loves Aussie's music 😛💜
For a change of style check out his version of "Black Dog" which he used as a Mic. Check and never performed. A sound tech. recorded it during one such pre concert check.
@@wyattfamily8997 I heard that for the first time last week and was blown away. He can do anything. His AC/DC cover, his comedic operatic duet, Burn For You, You’re the Voice. The man has more charisma, charm, and above all, talent in his little finger than most of our “artists” today. You Aussies are so lucky to have had him all to yourselves for so long. I pray he beats his cancer. He may not be able to sing again, but he’s a wonderful ambassador for Australia. I spent nearly 5 years in East Timor starting in 1999 and Darwin was my R & R Point. I regret not finding one of his concerts and going. What a treat and memory THAT would have been.
John Farnham's music is all divine. I am sure he is angelically inspired. Such immense talent. His concerts were always top notch as were the musicians and backup vocalists. Hearing his live concert performances is a melodious treat. Many segments and songs are on YT. His LRB days were just as good. Even as he aged his vocals were still strong. Johns strong vocals in this song/clip reminded me of Meatloaf as well. Praying for a miraculous healing for John.
Hi Rosemary, I love your description of John "angelically inspired". He has quite the voice for sure! I am looking forward to doing more of John's songs. Thank you so much for tuning in and commenting 🤩
Welcome to Australian Music 🎶🇭🇲 John is without doubt the best and most respected artist in Australia and his voice stacks up against any of the worlds best. We say he is truley one the best in the world for many reasons. Firstly his voice...he has a huge and powerful range and sings even better live than recorded. He never ever hits a bum note even after singing live night after night for hours on end. He sings straight from the heart with pure emotion. He is pitch perfect and has perfect timing. He also transcends many genres....from Pop to Hard Rock, Gospel to R&B, Country to Musical Theatre and silly little Ditties. Another thing is that he has had number one hits in 6 consecutive decades. And at 73 still has a huge fan base. Mostly in Australia and New Zealand but also much of Europe, with fans ranging from kids, teens, Mums and Dads to Grannies all love Farnsey. He successfully, if not slowly, transitioned from teen pop idol in the 60's, through to lead singer of soft rock band LRB for 4 years in the 80's, to a hugely successful adult contemporary artist who is respected not only by Australians but also many international greats like the Beatles, Elton, Tom Jones, Celine Dione, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, Ray Charles and Queen (who actually approached John first to replace Freddie after he died.) His most famous song is You're the Voice Choose a live version. The one with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is probably the best. ❤
Hi Carolyn, thank you so much for all of the background and facts. Having a top 10 song in 6 consecutive decades is an extraordinary feat. He is clearly very talented. I really enjoyed this song. I am very excite to do more and will check out the song you suggested. I appreciate you commenting and tuning in 🤩💜
TH-cam keeps recommending me reactions where people are discovering John Farnham, puts a smile on my face every time. I'd gush about how awesome he is, but there are plenty of folk in the comments doing a great job of that already!
Hi Whitewingdevil, well I am happy that YT pointed you in the direction of my channel. I hope you enjoyed my video. I really enjoyed this song. I am so glad that watching others discovering JF is bringing you joy. It is like knowing a big secret that others are finally catching onto. Thanks a bunch :)
He is adored in Australia. We will need a month of national mourning when this Aussie legend passes away. His album Whispering Jack from 86 was my 10th birthday present along with a CD walkman. It is the best selling Australian artist album of all time. I listened to it every night in bed for the longest time. It becomes part of you and for most Aussies, John features in so many aspects of our lives, celebrations, events, etc… He is my dad’s age and my children have grown up loving him too - 3 generations! He is a great artist and a truly decent human being.
Hey Mahls, it sounds like he is your national treasure. To be able to touch 3 generations of a family is not an easy thing to do as children often discount the music of their parents or grandparents. I love it. He clearly brings the nation together 🤩💙
Hi Chop, thanks for the kind words. I am just starting to understand how important John is to the Aussies. I look forward to listening to many more songs 🤩
It’s early hours here in Australia and I am off to bed in a moment, but later tonight my daughter is taking me to dinner and to the cinema to see the newly released documentary detailing John’s struggle to be taken seriously by the recording industry. John talented, ego free and humble, and is so appreciative of his music family consisting of the best musicians and backing singers in the industry with the result being that every LIVE performance is a never to be forgotten experience. His powerful performance of Jesus in the rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar was another collaboration with a superb cast that I have never forgotten and available on TH-cam. I hope you explore more of the Australian music scene.
Hi Judi, that sounds like a wonderful night out and John sounds like a great human being. I will definitely do more of his stuff. Thank you so much for the back story. Sweet dreams 🤩
Try Gethsemane on sunday night, the last performancs of JC Superstar. Or everything's alright on the show Hey, Hey, it's Saturday, with the whole ensemble cast.
Yes John can get pretty high, officially clocked at G5 in 5-6 songs but definitely gone to A5 in live performances/sound checks. But it isn’t just his music, Australia loves this man’s personality and humour too.
@@Dr_KAP That would have been good its most likely because in those days Musos were not concerned with money so much they were more open to just having a ball
Hi Sue 👋 We love our John, it never gets old seeing someone experience him for the first time. Pretty sure you are going to enjoy your tour of our great Aussie music scene.
Welcome to the world of our John. Yes he can sing anything. Watched him a few years back and even at the age of 70+ his voice wa just as good. Enjoy entering the world that is John Farnham.
You're right - John could sing anything, and it's all right there for you on YT. Classical, singing Grenada with our wonderful Anthony Warlow, gritty rock, singing Black Dog as a WARM UP, Aussie rock anthems, singing You're the Voice, with the Melbourne Symphony from this same concert, gorgeous soft romantic to bring tears to your eyes, singing Please Don't Ask Me, with our beautiful Olivia Newton-John. And so much more inbetween. One of the WORLD's finest singers, not just Australia
Hi Queenslanddiva, I appreciate you tuning in and commenting. I am excited to hear all sides of John's music. This will be a fun rabbit hole to get into :)
Hi Sue. Thank you for reacting to John Farnham. We Australians are so so proud of him. I have seen him live in concert many many times and there is nothing like it. He appeals to all ages. This concert was wonderful as he was accompanied by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. You're right, he's "exceptional"
John is a true gentleman and consummate entertainer, able to tackle almost every genre; he started his career back in the late 60's as a pop teen idol known then as Johnny Farnham, and eventually was able to struggle through to be one of the greatest adult entertainers in the world. John passed up international exposure to remain close to his family, rather than endless touring; John shows passion whenever he sings a song, and always has that cheeky endearing smile when he performs. John has also performed with other Australian and international artists, his most iconic duet was with Olivia Newton John singing Please Don't Ask Me live from The Main Event Concert. John's signature song is You're The Voice from this concert, and because of this he is known as 'The Voice'.
Hi James, John sounds like a great human being as well as a talented musician. He seems to have integrity which we don't see much any more. Nice to see 🤩
Thank you for your reaction and appreciation for our phenomenal Aussie legend, John Farnham. Yes he can and has sung all types of music genres. You have 6 decades of John’s hit songs yet to discover. Also watch out for his life movie: released 18/05/23-called : ‘John Farnham-Finding The Voice’! It is phenomenal!❤🎉
Hi Debbie, thanks so much for tuning in and for your comment. Clearly, I have some listening to do getting through 6 decades of music. I will do my best to get through it 🤩💜
Hi Camabbit, I really enjoyed this song. I look forward to doing more of JF's songs. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I hope you come back another day 😀💜
You are just about to get a whole lot of Farnsey subscribers! Your next Farnsey one needs to be 'The Voice' from the same concert. Keep a mn especially close watch at about 3.19. He does something, but you will just realise it after. Third song to do is 'When Something Is Wrong With My Baby, - a duet with another Aussie great, Jimmy Barnes (thus they are known as Barnesy and Farnsey) Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar, Grenada, Burn For You are just a few of his other great songs. Have fun! You'll get hooked on Jimmy Barnes too!
Hi Mia, I love that you call him Farnsey. That is fun. Ok I will check The Voice out. I am very curious now to see what will happen at 3:19. Thanks for this 🤩
Loved your reaction, it was awesome. To me he is the greatest male singer, he is a Powerhouse vocalist and such a good guy too. Check out “you’re the voice” live at the same concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
@@playitagainsue he did a duet with the late Olivia Newton John “please don’t ask me” at the main event 1998, that will pull at the heart strings. He and Olivia were great friends
Ballads -Burn For You. Touch of Paradise. Angels. Please Don't Ask Me (with Olivia Newton John). Rock- It's a Long Way To The Top. Playing To Win. You're the Voice. Black Dog(no live, a sound check recording). In Days To Come. Soul and blues- When Something is Wrong With My Baby(with Jimmy Barnes). Love's in Need. Every Time You Cry( with Human Nature ). Other astounding performances- Granada ( with Anthony Warlow). Gethsemane live. You'll Never Walk Alone (Christmas carols). And just because it's a beautiful song, Rolling Home, no live
His performances are a show in themselves. Always live. He can sing any genre from pop to opera. This an encore after a 2 to 3 hr concert. Burn For You, It’s a Long Way To The Top, The Voice, When The War Is Over, His duets with Olivia Newton John (please don'task me), Tom Jones, Ray Charles, Anthony Warlow. Just to name a few.
Hi Bella, I can't believe he can last that long to put on 2 and 3 hour concerts. He must be exhausted at the end of each show. Thanks so much for the suggestions. I will check them out 🤩
Hi Peter, he is fabulous I am so glad someone told me about him. I will do more of his stuff. I hope you are doing well. I was just thinking about you. Miss you 🥰💜
Thank you for reacting to our Living Legend, the Voice, Mr John Farhnam! The sweetest, kindness most humble humans out there. He is a marvellous singer. My parents were at this concert. They said it was life changing. This was his final song after 3 oncores I think? He does bleck dog cover Amaizing. He does When something is wrong with my baby. With Jimmy Barnes on. (Hey Hey it's Saturday show) He does your the Voice, his song. You will love them. Xx
Hey Kat, thanks so much for tuning in and commenting. I bet your parents had a great time at his concert. I can't believe how long he can sing for. It shows the strength of his voice. I will get to both of the songs you mentioned. Thanks a bunch 🤩
@playitagainsue ohh your so welcome, thank you for your kind reply! Ohh they love him so much too! Our John is so wonderful! You wont be disappointed! He can sing anything! He sings in Jesus Christ Super Star, rock, ballads! Everything. Plus he is sooo nice & kind. We love him here in Australia 🥰
The next song you need to react to is his signature song You're The Voice from this concert. John has a habit of playing with the mic stand, watch our later in the song to see what he does with it.
Great reaction to John Farnham. Welcome to the Ausie Music to discover. There are numerous Artist the only now the world is discovering through music reactions. Some artists to find out are, The cold Chisel, Noise works, Midnight Oil, Icehouse, LRB with John Farnham, etch.
Farnsey is known as "the voice". You've only just started his rabbit hole. The man was a GOAT before anyone ever knew what a Goat was. He would be known as one of the world's best voices EVER, had he truly desired to reach that level. Celine Dion absolutely fangirled all over him when not too many year's ago she had the chance to meet him. This man could sing any genre, any song & I mean any song. Every note, every vowel perfection, everytime he opened his mouth. You'll never find a bad performance. Unfortunately not nearly enough available online that truly shows his 50yr career. He is in his 70's now & likely lost his voice due to a current cancer battle. We will never see the likes of him again. And, he is even a better person than what he is a singer or performer. Pretty darn funny too. He will hold the best selling album in Australia forever. Also, please ONLY do live reactions of his songs. Only way to do him any justice!
Hi Bennine, thank you so much for the fabulous comment. I really enjoyed this song and can't wait to do more of John's music. I heard that he is ill and may not sing again. This is very sad. I am wishing him a full recovery 🧡
Richard Marx found John very early using his radio connected to his Dad’s satellite dish. Then he found out by going to every record store in LA that no one knew about him but one told him they could order it. Richard has a 4 part video on here, he has found I believe 16 genre’s of music including Opera that John sings naturally. He isn’t raspy when he sings Opera or some ballads, he is magic. He still gets surprised when someone famous knows him and that Celine Dion and Richard are his biggest fans they say. Australia knows who his biggest fans are because he is family and so are his family, his late manager and best friend Glenn Wheatley and his family are all our family. I think you would have to see John’s new bio pic to get it. Richard calls John the best voice alive anywhere to day and he isn’t wrong. Yet after three number one songs America and Australia would not sign him, would not even hear him. John is humble, kind and sweet. There is very good reason he is called the Voice and a Legend. I don’t think anyone famous wanted John to do a cover of it because it always became his, John Lennon agreed with that and told him they should have sung Help that way. John deserves that the world knows him. To have hit albums in 5 consecutive decades and even Michael Jackson couldn’t move him out of number one after 6 months. That was the Whispering Jack album that brought John back to us and Glenn took over as his manager. He mortgaged his home and everything he owned before he told his wife, Gaynor but she loved him too. To make that album and then he had to change radio in Australia to get them to play it. Once we heard it they had no hope of stopping John. There are great songs at this concert like You’re The Voice and many others. Songs from the Main Event Concerts with John, Anthony Warlow and Olivia Newton John. They toured for three months after Anthony finished some tough cancer treatment but that is who all 3 of them were and are. Anthony sings Opera and is the star of most of our stage musicals. It is so funny to watch Anthony John sing Granada because I wasn’t expecting Opera. Or John and our Livvie singing Please Don’t Ask Me. It is one of John’s solo’s but I love it with Olivia. Ballads like Burn For You are so beautiful and John wrote one verse, two others on tour wrote one each. Asking their wives not to get mad and hang up on them because they didn’t like being away from them either. You have over 50 years to choose from and one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Thank you for liking him.
Hi Karen, thank you so much all of the background info. John seems like he is a wonderful guy. I understand why he is Australia's national treasure. This was an amazing song and he has a fantastic voice. I look forward to hearing many many more songs. Not sure I will ever finish his 50 years of music in my lifetime but I will do my best. I really appreciate you tuning in and commenting. thanks a bunch 🤩
Great reaction!! You cannot compare John Farnham to Meatloaf!! There is NO WAY Meatloaf could reach those high notes that John does and also he doesn't sing with the emotions that John does either.
Almost an insult to compare John to Meatloaf....and I absolutely LOVE Meatloaf. Never missed a 10:16 concert by Meatloaf, but if I had the choice between seeing Meatloaf and John Farnham, I would not hesitate for one second to choose John as every single one of his concerts are memorising. What a voice!!!
Yes, older Meatloaf doesn't hold a candle to older Farnsey. It's a pity so many Australians only experience with Meatloaf was the older version at the AFL grand final. Young Meatloaf had an extraordinary voice & like an opera singer basically ONLY used his full chest voice live & pulled it off exceptionally well. Farnham on the other hand mixes a lot of head voice with his chest voice to hit many of his higher notes. To me, Farnseys greatest talent was being able to maintain his higher register at such an advanced age. MOST popular vocalists that have a tenor vocal range lose much of their range as they age, it's not just Meatloaf.
Hi Julianne, I love that feeling when you can replay an old song or album that you just love over and over. There is such a happy, comforting feeling about that 🤩💙
The VOICE of Australia. Beloved here and deservedly so. You were right at the outset. John can - and did -sing anything. Rock, Pop, Blues, Jazz, Musical Theatre. And without a single vocal lesson. He just listened to everything he could and then sang it. He was working, in his teens, as a Plumbers Apprentice when a lot of people around him said; "We think you need to go be a STAR!" and so he did. 'Farnsie' last performed, with his voice just as strong and just as perfect, aged 71, at the 'Fight Fire' Fundraising Concert in 2020 after the devastating bushfires we suffered here along much of the East Coast of Australia. John is an absolute Legend here, and many had trouble understanding why his 'star' didn't take off internationally. ( Increasingly a lot of - particularly US - Reactors are asking this question too! ) I believe he did go talk to some Record Producers in the States 'back in the day', but, allegedly, they wanted him to confine himself to a single genre; to becoming a kind of 'Blond Aussie Clone' of David Cassidy, and he wanted to explore artistically far broader than that. He had also married young (still married - still adores his wife; Jilly) and didn't want to leave his family here. So here he stayed. Toured all over the country - filled Stadium after Stadium - for Decades. Tried to retire several times; we wouldn't let him! ( A running joke here about how many 'Last Tours' he had. } Excellence attracts excellence and he always attracted the best musicians to work with him. {The MSO is highly prestigious and doesn't 'back' just anyone! and they had a heck of a lot of fun stepping out of their classical comfort zone to provide this full rich orchestration to thus concert.} Check out the rest of his songs from this concert too. John is also a great songwriter, have a listen to Burn For You, that he wrote for his wife. { Hello from Tasmania } 😊
Hi Lin, thanks so much for all the fabulous details. He is an amazing singer and I can see why he is Australia's national treasure and he sounds like a wonderful man. I like it when artists have so much integrity. 🤩
Wow where do we start with Johns music catalogue. He has done so many amazing songs it’d be hard to pick nut here’s a few Angels When something is wrong with my baby You’re the voice Gethsemene
Try listening to John & the Melbourne symphony orchestra playing, Your the voice. Watch too when he throws the mic stand into the air, the catch it & throw it across the stage. No wonder John was Australia of the year. Kind regards from Adelaide, South Australia 🇦🇺
Hi Sammy, thanks for tuning in. John is truly amazing!. I actually reacted to You're the Voice about a month and a half, 2 months ago. You could give it a watch if you are interested. Greetings back to you from here in Canada 🤩
Hey Sue are you in for a ride just discovering John Farnham. He can sing anything from Rock to Opera. acting as well as a stand-up comedian. The guy started as a teenage singing sensation winning every talent show he entered but then dropped out of the limelight for many years raising a family and fighting his demons. After his recovery he returned as a middle aged singer unknown to a new generation of fans and blew everyone away. His story is legendary.
Hi Michael, thanks for tuning in and commenting. I appreciate the backstory. I am excited to dig deeper into John's catalogue. It will definitely be a fun ride, I am sure😀
You should also listen to his song "You're the Voice" from the same concert. It is also very powerful and one of the reasons he is called "The Voice" in Australia.
Try these ones for a start: ‘You’re The Voice’, ‘Reasons’, ‘Angels’, Dare to Dream, Grenada, Two strong hearts, See the Banners Fall, When Something is Wrong with my baby, It’s a Long Way to the Top, just to name a few… Plus Always watch his live performances if possible?
Hi, new sub here from Sydney. Thank you, I loved your comments, intelligent and perceptive. I especially found your comment on the audience participation quite beautiful. John is the original singer of a song you’ve probably heard (but may not recognise the title), You’re the Voice. He is known in Australia as The Voice. This song is where his invitation for the audience to sing is most relevant. John sings a beautiful ballad duet with Australia's darling Olivia Newton John, Please Don’t Ask Me, and an amazing stage performance of Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar (last night in Sydney 1992 version). He sings a very rock energetic cover of AC/DC's It’s a Long Way to the Top where the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and rock band blend unbelievably well, genius arrangement. He shows his humorous side in a meld of opera and humour in a duet with Anthony Warlow (Aussie musical theatre and opera star) called Granada. These are all well worth a look. Cheers.
@@Bellas1717 Thank you so much for subbing and for your kind words, Bellas. John was amazing and I am going to enjoy listening to more of his stuff. I will check out the duet you mentioned wirh ONJ. I bet that will be awesome. Have a great day 🤩💜
John is an Australian National Treasure, you can pick any song form that live performance and will be impressed by the range and variation of his voice. We call him "The Voice" for a reason. Welcome to the Australian music rabbit hole - you may never want to leave 🙂
Our much loved Farnsey, also known as The Voice here in Australia. So wonderful to have so many others enjoying his immense talent. You can’t go wrong with anything, but maybe start with You’re The Voice from the same concert.
You’re still listening live to that one. And what nobody seems to appreciate, is that it’s not rehearsed for a performance. It’s basically a jam session, and displays not only John’s incredible vocal talent but the standard of his band. What an amazing group of musicians.
Hi Sue, first time on your Chanel & I enjoyed your reaction & consequently have subscribed. Being an Aussie, I grew up with John’s music & never have we had such an icon. However, out of left field, I want to introduce you to a young lady who was invited to sing by the world renown conductor/musician Andre Rieu at the age of 10 to an audience of some 12,000 people who stood as one to give her a standing ovation. This video has had an astonishing 74 Million views & counting. So, the details are; Amira Willighagen with Andre Rieu singing O Mio Babbino Caro. As mentioned, Amira is 10 y.o here, and is currently 19 y.o I realise all Reactors are inundated with requests, but this one should not slip though. She is phenomenal & world class. Cheers Graeme.
Hi Graeme, I will definitely check her out. I love O Mio Babbino Caro. I can't believe she was singing that at 10. She clearly has some serious singing chops. At 10 to sing like that must mean that she was just given that natural talent as she wouldn't have had much time to even been classically trained. Thanks for that 😀
Her journey is unique.. shortly before the Andre Rieu performance, she won Hollands Got Talent aged 9 without having a single singing lesson. She taught herself Opera by watching the likes of Maria Callas & Pavarotti on uTube, practicing & mimicking mouth movements & breathing techniques. This started at a mere 7 years old. I still cannot understand how a 7 year old can have the capacity to even think about Opera, let alone the determination to practice day in & day out. When you do react, you will see that Amira, even at this age , has perfect pitch & a vibrato that many a seasoned singer would envy. She sings this Aria in Italian & learned the words & the lyrics meanings so as to give the Aria its proper passion & emotion. Amira does however, speak 3 languages fluently, namely Dutch; English & Africana. This is just a small snippet of her remarkable journey and I’m sure you will fall in love as millions of her fans worldwide have. More of her journey to follow, such as her philanthropic attributes. Cheers Graeme
@@graemeblackburn7511 yes that is truly remarkable. A 10 year old and definitely when she is 7 just shouldn't be at rhat level. She clearly has a gift. I look forward to hearing her. Thanks Graeme 🤩🧡
Fantastic! Now you need to delve into the back catalogue of other exceptional Australian artists in your probably ever expanding list of Aussie grown requests. Bring Chelsie along for the ride too in future. She deserves some of our classic Aussie Kulture as well. 👍👍🇦🇺🦘
Hi there its great to go back then forward with john so ,Bridge over trouble water and then from the last time concert ,when the war is over ,these are two of my favourites.there are so many more playing to with ,burn for you ,he does an AcDc cover of its a long way to the top ,thats from the same concert you just watched ,anyway great review .xx
Hey Dedrie, thanks so much for watching and for the info and suggestions. John was great in this song. I am more than happy to check more of JF out. Have a great day 🤩
Normally, John's voice is not gritty like this. But this song was the last after a 2+hour concert which was one of high intensity just like this song, so you have to understand his voice was a little worn by the time he got to this!
It was actually the 3rd last song of that concert. He came back out on stage after Help and sang another encore with Sadie and It's a Long Way to the Top. That high energy AC-DC classic was the real last song that night. Such amazing vocal endurance.
Some other fun facts about this and John are that he was reportedly offered the lead gig with Queen following Freddie's passing (he is friends with Brian May, who joined John onstage for a national bushfire appeal we had here several years ago). It was also reported that John Lennon heard this version and really liked it, stating this is how it should have been performed. Their version was based on record label pressure to make it faster and more pop-friendly. If you like his pure vocal, I'd suggest you listen to (there is no video) his pre-show sound-check that (thanks to his sound engineer) recorded John singing Led Zeppelin's Black Dog.......absolutely outstanding.
That is super cool! That would have been really interesting to see him seeing with Queen. Also I would love to hear him singing LZ. That would be very fun. Thank you so much SSV. I will check it out. :)
@@playitagainsue yeh he politely turned Brian May down and others which would have had him touring the world. He chose to stay home in Australia with his family so he wasn't an absent father & husband. This goes to the man he is and part of why he is so loved in Australia. He's just such a genuine great bloke.
@@playitagainsue Celine Dion and Tom Jones tried to persuade John to move to the U.S. to further his career, but he wouldn't uproot his family. Even touring that took him away from his wife and kids too long really bothered him. He even did a song that let him explain how he felt about being away from his wife Jill. It's called "Burn For You." By the way, John Farnham and Tom Jones are great friends. Sometime catch the video of them rocking out together at Australia's ARIA Awards, doing a cover of AC/DC's "It's A Long Way To The Top [If You Want To Rock And Roll]." Two powerhouses! Adore them both!
John is a world class singer ,he has never had singing lessons,he never watches his own concerts or videos ,he smoked up until recently, but unfortunately he is undergoing treatment for cancer of the mouth, which took 12 hours of surgery to remove, the whole country is preying for him. John is so down to earth and a lovable guy. Songs you should have a listen to are. Please don’t ask me , Angels with his back up singer, long way to the top ,cover of AC/DC and you will never walk alone in Melbourne carols by candlelight . Loved your reaction and keep up the great work.
In Australia John is known as "The Voice". Richard Marx said that John Farnham is the greatest singer in the world and if you listen to John's songs, you will hear that Richard is right. The real proof is in John's cover of the Led Zeppelin hit "Black Dog". The guy can sing anything, from ballads, rock, hard rock, country and even opera.
You should listen to You're The Voice fron the same concert. Paul McCartney is supposed to have said John Lennon heard John's version of Help teleased months before he died and said it was what he envisaged when he wrote it - but at that point the Beatles didn't hsve the experience and artistic control in the studio to achieve it. Lennon believed this is the ultimate version of his song.
He could have been huge in the US but he wasnt really interested. He sorta tried with LRB but that was a weird time. He liked his Reds but abhorred the US music/drug scene it was not for him. He is a very nice man and always has been so. His boys are so grounded too, we love him heaps. He is a National Living Treasure and we all just want him to get better. He never mimed one single song in his life. I suggest you check out the song that won the Tokyo Song Festival. Dont you know its Magic written by Brian Cadd. John sang it and the rest is history Geze Sue you will love Brian Cadd when you hear him Thanks for the video love you XXOS
Liked and Subscribed. Any song form this legendary concert will blow your mind Sue. This performance was an encore after a 2 hour + show. More John Farnham please
Thanks Sue. You are right with "he could sing anything" and he does - across all genres. Rock to opera, and most stuff in between. And careful with that comment "I look forward to doing more of his stuff". Other reactors have said that and they're still going more than a year later! So much to learn about Farnsey. A documentary movie was just released on the weekend in Australia about him - "Finding the Voice". This concert with the MSO was a killer concert - you could pick anything from it. I will suggest "You're the Voice" (th-cam.com/video/6m2m_9Uijso/w-d-xo.html) which was the breakout song that re-started his career and was the start of the Farnham phenomenon in Oz. He is currently recovering from a fight with cancer. Thanks for the reaction Sue.
Hey Doc thanks for watching. I bet that will be a fantastic documentary. Based on the response from people today, I am going to guess this movie will be sold out this weekend. Enjoy yourself if you see it 🤩🧡
You’ll read it time and again. The only way to experience John Farnham is LIVE. He’s great in a studio, but put him in front of an audience and he’s spectacular. From opera to driving rock, if a genre exists, john can sing it. There’s no better.
As the saying goes. "You ain't seen nothin', yet!" And I would add to your 'fun fact'. John Farnham is not only the top popular music singer in Australia but is also in that top tier in the world! You will come to realise this when you are more acquainted with his huge discography. He is brilliant and other musicians and singers from around the world heap praises on him. Please do not compare John to Meatloaf as John's vocal talent is far greater. ALWAYS see and hear John Farnham LIVE where his soul shines!
John Farnham is happiest on the Stage with audience in complete harmony with him. It shows!
Hey Terry, it shows. He has such great connections to the audience 🤩
There will definitely be more to come 🤩💗
He is one of the few singers that you want to experience his LIVE performances every time!
Thanks Rodger. I will keep that in mind and try to find more live versions 🤩
ALWAYS live! 🙌🏼
You can say that again, Rodger!
National Hero ❤
Vocal range of 3.5 octaves. John Lennon heard this in 1980, a few months before he died. He gave his approval, as did Paul McCartney. Nothing like Meat Loaf. He screwed up his last performance in Melbourne, something John Farnham would never do.
"Well liked" is not exactly the the words. Here in Australia we LOVE John.

You're the Voice is beautiful from John Farnham
Ohhhh, I need more of him!!!!!
You got it, friend :)
Farnsey has a catalogue of music spanning 50 years.
@@wyattfamily8997 thanks so much. I will 🤩
@@wyattfamily8997 I heard that for the first time last week and was blown away.
@@playitagainsue it’ll knock your socks off!!
Same concert...a long way to the top.
Thanks
... that entire concert. So good.
It’s more amazing when you realise that was his encore after a 2 hour gig. It’s not for nothing he’s called “The Voice” - Legend.
Hi Ichabod, you would have to be The Voice to sing straight for that long. That is simply amazing 😀
Welcome to Australian Music 🎶🇭🇲
John is without doubt the best and most respected artist in Australia and his voice stacks up against any of the worlds best.
He successfully, if not slowly, transitioned from teen pop idol in the 60's, through to lead singer of soft rock band LRB for 4 years in the 80's, to a hugely successful adult contemporary artist who is respected not only by Australians but also many international greats like the Beatles, Elton, Tom Jones, Celine Dione, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, Ray Charles and Queen (who actually approached John first to replace Freddie after he died.)
His most famous song is You're the Voice
Choose a live version.

The greatest male singer ever.
🤩💜
I don’t want to even think about John passing away!
Welcome to the magnificent world of John
What a wonderful reaction! Reacting to John will bring the Aussie viewers.
John is as humble as he is talented. The greatest ever Aussie vocalist.

Hi Gracias, rhanks for the comment. I will check that song out. 🤩
Yes John can get pretty high, officially clocked at G5 in 5-6 songs but definitely gone to A5 in live performances/sound checks. But it isn’t just his music, Australia loves this man’s personality and humour too.
Remember when he sang Acapella with Tom Jones on Hey Hey "My Yiddish Mama"
@@joereedsmith1531 yes and he and Tom also sang it in concert I’m pretty sure

Thank you Jan. I look forward to it :)
Hi Angela, you should be very proud. John in unbelievably good. It is my complete pleasure reacting to John. Thanks for tuning in 🤩
John is a true gentleman and consummate entertainer, able to tackle almost every genre; he started his career back in the late 60's as a pop teen idol known then as Johnny Farnham, and eventually was able to struggle through to be one of the greatest adult entertainers in the world.
Your next Farnsey one needs to be 'The Voice' from the same concert. Keep a mn especially close watch at about 3.19. He does something, but you will just realise it after.
Third song to do is 'When Something Is Wrong With My Baby, - a duet with another Aussie great, Jimmy Barnes (thus they are known as Barnesy and Farnsey)

Hi Grace, thanks so much. I know Midnight Oil and Litlle River Band but I don't know the other bands you mentioned. I will have to check them out. 🤩
The most emotive singer ever!
I’m not sure if this has been mentioned but this was encore two after an almost 3 hour show! Legend.
Hi Christiaan, I can't believe he can sing for that long. That is amazing🤩

Besides Meatloaf is a dirty word after his *performance* at the AFL grand final
Yeah we Aussies just don't see it. We look at each other and say Meatloaf.? He can't even sing.
I agree Meatloaf wished he could sing like John
I`m glad you finally got to experience John. He is amazing. I really enjoyed your reaction & the breakdown of the performance, you were spot on. 👏
Thank you so much for your kind words, Michael. John was amazing. I am excited to listen to more from him :)
What can I say? He's amazing 👏

Absolutely 💯 Australian legend ❤️

I look forward to hearing many more, Michael. Thanks for tuning in and commenting :)
Our much loved Farnsey, also known as The Voice here in Australia. So wonderful to have so many others enjoying his immense talent. You can’t go wrong with anything, but maybe start with You’re The Voice from the same concert.
Awesome, Thanks Bern 🤩
The only exception to watch him live is his cover of Led Zepplin's Black Dog, a very savvy sound engineer hit record during a sound check.
Very cool Melinda. I think that will be a fun one to check out. Thanks 🤩
You’re still listening live to that one. And what nobody seems to appreciate, is that it’s not rehearsed for a performance. It’s basically a jam session, and displays not only John’s incredible vocal talent but the standard of his band. What an amazing group of musicians.
Subscribed on your promise
" Please Don't Ask Me"
John's duet with Oliver Newton John from the "Main Event Tour "
Thanks so much, Mark :)
Hi Sue, first time on your Chanel & I enjoyed your reaction & consequently have subscribed. Being an Aussie, I grew up with John’s music & never have we had such an icon. However, out of left field, I want to introduce you to a young lady who was invited to sing by the world renown conductor/musician Andre Rieu at the age of 10 to an audience of some 12,000 people who stood as one to give her a standing ovation. This video has had an astonishing 74 Million views & counting. So, the details are;
Amira Willighagen with Andre Rieu singing O Mio Babbino Caro. As mentioned, Amira is 10 y.o here, and is currently 19 y.o
I realise all Reactors are inundated with requests, but this one should not slip though.
Hey Vince, nice to hear from you. Yes we will have to check out more from JF and other Aussie artists. 🤩
Have a great day 🤩
The True King of Australia
Yep! Long live King John❤️
Ok, thanks for that GB. I can't believe he sings for over 2 hours in concert. That is very impressive and great for the fans🤩
@@playitagainsue No, I don't know how he does it either, but we do call him "The Voice!"
John is one of this countries favourite sons and if you have not yet heard it you need to hear your the voice by the same person
Hi Neil, I will definitely check it out 😀
I LOVED your reaction! Cheers from Oz.
@mikeparkes7922 Thank you Mike. I really appreciate it. Greeting to you from me here in Canada 🤩💗

@@ssvr3dl1n38 I am sure it wasn't easy to turn Sir Brian May down but it shows John's integrity 😀
It's called "Burn For You."
By the way, John Farnham and Tom Jones are great friends.
Have a look at Please don't ask me, with Olivia Newton John. Very believable performance, was a joy to see live.
Hi Ian, thanks a bunch. I will check it out 🤩
“Burn for you” is an amazing song to react to.

That is amazing! I look forward to checking out John's LZ cover. I think that will be incredible to hear 😀
Hey Dacious, how cool is that and what an amazing compliment. It shows just how good JF is. Thanks for that 🤩
Naturally I subbed to you thanks
Thanks so much Joereed. I appreciate it 😀
He could have been huge in the US but he wasnt really interested.
John sang it and the rest is history
Geze Sue you will love Brian Cadd when you hear him
Thanks for the video love you XXOS
Liked and Subscribed. Any song form this legendary concert will blow your mind Sue. This performance was an encore after a 2 hour + show. More John Farnham please
Hi Just Lin Su, thanks so very much for subbing and liking. I really appreciate it. I will definitely do more of John's stuff. :)
@@playitagainsue Thanks Sue, actually my name is Just Lin su lol Justlinsu
@@justlinsu Sorry about that Just Li Su. I just edited my last post. I need to get it right 🤩💜
You have discovered who Australians simply call "The Voice." I would highly recommend his song "You're The Voice."
Thank you Rebecca 😊
Enjoy yourself if you see it 🤩🧡
It's a long way down, the John Farnham rabbit hole, Lol. Thankyou for your great reaction Sue. 🙂

John Farnham is a national treasure here in Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
You’ll read it time and again. The only way to experience John Farnham is LIVE. He’s great in a studio, but put him in front of an audience and he’s spectacular. From opera to driving rock, if a genre exists, john can sing it. There’s no better.
Until you've done all the live versions and then start discovering all the hidden gems from a 50 year career.
@@rickandersen2284 which I’m STILL doing, and my 1st favourite song was Raindrops

Hey Rick, I am not sure I will live long enough to get through all 50 years but I will do what I can haha 🤩
@@playitagainsue binge watch!! You won’t be disappointed 😆😜
Awesome, thanks Barnowl :)
