As I understand it, this is originally a song that John recorded as a solo. It was ingeniously adapted into a duet with his precious friend Olivia for this concert. Masterful.
100% correct… from the album Uncovered (1980).
John & Olivia…. We’re friends from way back when they Started their careers in the Late 60’s …. So the chemistry between them is easy and natural.

Getting close to 3 months since we lost Olivia and it is still surreal. Her love & light and talent still shine so brightly. Now John has been in his own cancer battle. Two great friends who were pure magic together. The whole concert is wonderful. I was so lucky to see her on her last concert tour in 2017. Still beautiful, in great voice and ever full of grace & gratitude. We lost such a special soul.

Farnsie and ONJ have been best of friends for ever....its hard to not watch this and get emotional knowing ONJ is sadly no longer with us...but this song with them together is simply stunning..they are both national treasures and loved so much !!
Their voices complement each other in this performance. The chemistry between these two is legendary, they were great friends for such a long time. RIP Olivia
This was from an amazing concert called the Main Event with 3 of the best singers and Australian performers I have ever seen. John Olivia and Anthony Warlow. John was supporting both Olivia and Anthony who where recovering from cancer at the time. Olivia had said in an interview that she thought her career was over until John asked her to join him for this concert. Another great performance from that concert is John and Anthony singing a comical version of Grenada which shows not only an operatic ability on his his voice but also his funny side.
Pray for John after jaw removal surgery due to cancer. Bless you Farnsy xx

Yeah, that one gets me too, ladies, and I'm a grumpy old Aussie bloke. They worked beautifully together and their lifelong friendship shone through in this performance. There are a few to choose from in this concert, including with Australian tenor Anthony Warlow. He and John do a comedic version of Granada which is another highlight. Nice review.

Thank you for your reaction. Both John and Olivia are experienced "Singer-Actors" having performed in musical theatre, so their stage presence is phenomenal. This performance will go down in history as one of the best duet stage songs of all time.

Best reaction for this song ladies. Well done. John and Olivia were great friends for 55 years, since they were teenagers. In fact John was one of the last people she spoke to before she died. I think it might have even been the last phone call she ever took in fact. They did love each other, deeply, as far as I know, just friends.

Never heard this song before. Great duet. I'm enjoying discovering John Farnham's music. During her career, Olivia had many great duet partners. I've always loved Olivia Newton -john's music. I grew up with her music.I was very saddened this past August when I heard the news of Olivia's passing after a long battle with cancer. She was such a great singer with a sweet, angelic, voice. She started out as a country singer and made the transition to rock. She started to make that transition in the movie Grease. Grease is my all-time favorite movie/musical. I must have seen the movie at least 50 times which starred Olivia Newton-john and John Travolta. One of the the major highlights from the movie is Olivia singing "Hopelessly Devoted You. It is one her signature songs and I'd love for you to react to it. Other great Olivia Newton-John songs to react to are "Physical", "I honestly Love You", "Have You Never Been Mellow", "Magic", Xanadu, Her duet with John Travolta "You're The One That I Want" her duet with Cliff Richard "Suddenly" and her duet with Andy Gibb "I Can't Help It".

Oh my musical theater love is firing on all cylinders. They were just lovely together (RIP Olivia). You are right, the blend was magnificent. I have heard John do this with Little River Band, and on his own. Besides their talent, some of the chemistry is from their friendship. It seems like they could easily adapt to each other and share vulnerability.

It is an old John Farnham original, but this duet is the best version.
The funny thing is it was written by Graham Goble as was a lot of the stuff on that album and after Glenn Shorrock left LRB (Little River Band) shortly afterward Graham brought John in as the replacement lead singer.

You spoke of Angels, maybe react to John singing "Angels" with his back up singer, Lisa Edwards. Beautiful. Another worth a look is "Amazing Grace", with 2 of his other backing singers, Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field, no relation. Bring tissues. There are some must do reactions, Vanessa Amarosi opening the Sydney Olympics live with "Heroes Live Forever", around 800 (OK I exaggerated a tiny bit) octaves! Others have tried that song, no-one gets near. Olivia was so great! Maybe you could do her song, 'Sam". It was my favorite song by her when I was in high school. It's the one that made us fall in love with her. My favorite is her live performance in 1976. The one with her wearing the pretty blue dress. She looks and sounds so lovely in that performance. The video titled "Sam A Special Olivia Newton John"

John and Olivia were very close friends. They both grew up in Melbourne and ran into each other at gigs. You have to react to John singing 'Burn For You' which he recorded about how his beloved wife, Jill, had problems with his performance absences.
What a lovely reaction ladies. We Aussies feel the same way. The song that followed this in "The Main Event" concert was John & Olivia performing "You're the one that I want" from Grease, the clip is on you tube. Here you see the other side of John we Aussies also love, the comedian or as we lovingly term "the larrikin". You must also listen to the song John is best known for, his signature anthem "You're the voice" the version with the MSO is the best. Best Wishes
Yes magical and so very beautiful, John had a huge hit with this himself and he asked Olivia if she would do this on their tour with Anthony Warlow as well performing, and as you can see the attraction was wonderful too see. They were great friends and this performance now brings tears with the sudden loss of our beautiful Olivia "Livvy" as she was known here in Australia. Now we await John's recovery from Jaw Cancer with hopes one day we may again hear him sing it is not likely but with recovery and all the love and support we can only hope.

With Ray Charles (Imagine), Anthony Warlow, Laura Branigan (I Want To Know What Love Is), and the incredible When Something Is Wrong With My Baby with Jimmy Barnes. Barnes himself has done some amazing duets such as You're The Best with Tina Turner and his most recent recording, Soothe Me with Sam Moore.

Loved your genuine reaction to this beautiful performance. You two are great. Superb voices. This is John's song, recorded I think just before his career really took off again in the 80s. This performance was from The Main Event a brilliant series of concerts with John, Olivia and Anthony Warlow (Australia's Phantom). It is an absolutely stunning concert. John and Olivia were good friends and this was Olivia's return from her second bout of cancer. They sang together at the 2000 Sydney Olympic opening ceremony (Dare to Dream) and recorded a Christmas album together a few years back as well as some other live performances. John has musical theatre experience Pippin and Jesus Christ Superstar) and of course, Olivia's film experience and together they put on a rather convincing performance. Very moving. John has been married to his wife Jill for well over 40 years and you might like to listen to his tribute song to her - Burn For You.
