Hands up if you just love it when foreigners watch our John sing. First their mouths hit the floor and they realise they are hearing the magic that is John Farnham . This man is loved and I mean really really loved by all Australians, in fact he is Australia. You haven't heard the best yet, because most of his songs are brilliant. 🙋🏻♀
True 👍 we have a few classics for them all to hear. Im 80s blood and was raised listening to John and Jimmy Barns. Seen Jim live! My grandmother was more in love with John. Then, any woman out there, I think 😂 pictures of him on her walls. Childhood memories of nans house. John F, paddle pops, lollies and squeezed to death by nan 😆
@@joelholland8523 I remember seeing Johnny Farnham on the board outside the Dorset Hotel in Croydon Victoria when I was about 7 or 8. I think I remember it so vividly because we have an old slide of us with parents playing out the front of the pub. Around then, Daddy Cool records were on the birthday list. followed by skyhooks and so on. I said to someone today if I could go anywhere it would be the early 80's. No time like it!
Had to go back and listen again. Can you imagine standing listening to all those people sing and applaud. It must be like an out of body experience. He is still The Voice!
This concert was in 1989. John was still performing until 2022, when he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in his jaw. Underwent a 12 hour surgery and is now recovering with his family. And his voice was still the same in his 70's. There's 5 decades of music to cover, from a guy that can sing literally anything.
John doesn't tour anymore, he's recovering from Cancer, and I do believe we won't hear him again. He was HUGE in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's and even up till a few years ago touring. The man is a legend with a voice that only comes along once in a lifetime. Add to that he's the most down to earth, friendly and kind man around.
He met his wife, Jill, in about 1970 & theyre still together. They have been thru big lows & huge highs. She has been his greatest help. Thry say John Lennon approved of Farnham's cover before he was murdered
Thanks. You've just discovered John Farnham, one of the two or three greatest vocalists of our era. It's a scandal that he is not more widely recognized and appreciated. Legendary.
@@daolman8226I’m pretty sure this was concert was in 1989. Unfortunately John was diagnosed with cancerous tumours in his mouth last year and has undergone extensive surgeries and treatment. 😢❤
I'm kind of happy that he is just ours. And I wonder if he has been pretty content with what he has achieved. A HUGE career, including being Johnny (I can still see his name posted outside the Dorset hotel when I was maybe 5 & had a friend who adored him as did most of us), a long happy marriage, 2 boys that adore their Dad and probably 30,000,000 Australians who can all sing along with anyone of his songs. That's a pretty big deal whoever you are!
Had the privilege of singing with John when I was 16yrs old in 1974. Apart from being an incredible vocalist and performer he is the nicest, caring and most humble person I ever performed with. I had a bad case of stage fright that he helped me overcome and gave me the courage to continue, not just that night but for many years. I'm so glad he's finally getting the recognition overseas that he so thoroughly deserves.
John Farnham is an Aussie National Treasure. A true legend of Australian music. He can sing any genre of music. He has done musical theatre, big areans like this one, acting on TV shows, etc. His career started in the late 60s when he was around 17yrs old. He is now 73yrs old. He recently underwent mouth surgery to remove a cancerous tumour, which was around a 12hr surgery, with success. He also recently had to go back into hospital for a respiratory infection. Aussies love John as many generations have grown up with his music. He is the only Aussie singer to have a No 1 song in every decade. His talent is amazing, which has rightly earned him the title of...The Voice. He is a humble, family man, choosing to stay in Australia with his family rather than be away from them to gain international success....and we love him for that. Family comes first for him. Welcome to the John Farnham rabbit hole....you're welcome....
@@wallywombat164 they could, but I could then post a YT link to the video evidence that it was the 3rd last song of that particular recorded concert and that it was closer to 2 hours, intermission and the typical 'between songs John Farnham banter and jokes' aside of course! 😉
Thank you for this reaction. John Farnham is an Aussie legend. Please check out some other songs from this concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra- It's a Long Way to the Top (AC/DC cover), You're the Voice (#1 aussie anthem), and Playing to Win are great. He does just about every genre out there 😊 once you start down the rabbit hole us Aussies will be right there with you. Always react to live performances too, John's presence on stage is magnetic. Cheers
That Beatles "Help" cover was the final encore of the 3 hour (1989) concert with the MSO. John "The Voice" Farnham is a much loved Australian icon. Apart from from being a fabulous singer, capable of singing anything he is also a kind, sincere & wonderful person. John was 1987 Australian of the Year, a high award that is rarely bestowed on an entertainer.
It wasn't the final song that night. There was another encore after this one. Plus it was closer to 2 hours of music rather than 3. Still one of the all time great concerts.
@@devilsadvocate2548 I'm curious, what was the second encore? And props for keeping it real. So easy for comments to exaggerate and repeat. He doesn't need exaggeration.
@Jeremy Kothe on the DVD he went back stage after this just to the side and fed off the cheering. That cheering turned into a chant for 'Sadie' with some of the orchestra joining in. John then came back on stage, sang Sadie and then finished up with 'It's a Long Way to the Top'.
Great reaction. John Farnham is an aussie legend. As is Jimmy Barnes. When you put them together, you get dynamite!! Check this one out... Jimmy Barnes & John Farnham - When Something Is Wrong With My Baby
You have just stumbled upon one of the greatest voices on the planet- EVER. He can sing any genre and has many flawless performances. There are literally hundreds of hours of performances of his to watch. Welcome to the rabbit hole and enjoy the ride!
Welcome to John The Voice Farnham you play him and us Aussie will come you have over 50 years to enjoy this Legend of Australian music.. he is a phenomenal singer and performer.. always do John live it’s just next level. From the same concert Classic Jack with the MSO you can react to Your the Voice, It’s a long way to the top, Reasons, Playing to Win, Please don’t ask Me and so many more. This was 1989 John at this time had been singing for 21 years. He is highly respected by his peers all over the world and he is so loved here in Australia we are so proud of him not just for his talent but the fact that he’s just the most humble and all round nice bloke you will never meet and at the moment he is having a tuff time of it with under going treatment for cancer and while doing well he has a long way to go he was just recently released from hospital from respiratory infection which thankfully he’s made a full recovery from he is 73 and last time John performed was in March 2020 at our fire relief concert and than covid hit. last year his lost his best mate and his manager Glenn Wheatley to covid, than his long time friend Olivia Newton John and than 2 weeks after Olivia passed he was diagnosed with cancer in the mouth and under took a 12 hour operation the whole of Australia held their breath waiting on the out come for John we were so please he came through it and that he had to have reconstructive surgery on his jaw and that he still had to have cancer treatment. While he may never sing again and lot of people say he won’t, never say never where John is concerned because you just never know. But all we want is for him get well again and enjoy he’s time with his beautiful family. so sit back and enjoy this phenomenal ride your about to go on with one of Australia’s most loved and treasured Legends simply know has The Voice! 🧐😊🇦🇺🥰
Same, found it so early I was wondering where all the regulars were, Kap, Carolyn, George, and the rest of the gang 😄 glad this video is getting the love it deserves now.
Theres nothing john farnham cant sing. His voice is top notch. He has such a huge catalogue of music that you'll be spoilt for choice on what to react to. And the more you discover, the more you will understand why his is idolised in Australia. Youre the Voice is his most famous song. And always always choose live versions over studio recordings and you will be astounded by the quality of his live vocals. Which are even better that his recorded stuff. ❤ Btw. The other aussie you reacted to was Jimmy Barnes. Jimmy and John did a Duet together . When something is wrong with my Baby. Live version is great as well
He's a sendational Aussie performer as well as singer, & can sing virtually any type of music. As well as the other songs mentioned, his live duet with another Aussie star, Anthony Warlow, singing Granada, is well worth the virwing.
Beatles classic the late John Lennon said is how the song was intended to be done. Welcome to world of John Farnham,The band Queen was the first person they asked to be their frontman after Freddie passed away he said no. Livecall the way with John his beautiful personality shines through. This video is from the 80s. John is 73 now and is recovering from an operation he had last year for mouth cancer and is on a long road to recovery in March was back in hospital with a chest infection but is better from that now.John has a phenomenal voice and can sing anything.Great reaction thank you. 🇬🇧 Farnsey Fan
Yea, John Farnham is classed as Australia's favourite son for good reason, and his song "your the voice" is more of an Australian anthem than the Australian anthem! I am a big metal fan, but it's because of this that I can truly hear, and appreciate a great vocal artist like John Farnham, he can sing clean, with grit and soul all in the one song. You would also enjoy "when something is wrong with my baby" live, featuring Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham And Johnny Deisel. (Wilson-Deisel also great together if you dig some blues ! ) Enjoy from Australia. Troy
There is only One John Farnham in the World! Thank you for your reaction and appreciation of our phenomenal Aussie treasure, John Farnham! Wait until you see his life movie being released today! …called ‘John Farnham-Finding The Voice’ I feel so lucky that my daughter is taking me to see it on Mother’s Day this coming Sunday, here in Queensland Australia. It will be awesome!!❤🎉👌👏🎶🤞🍀👍🌈🎶
This is my favourite performance by John Farnham ever & I love them all. He can sing an amazing variety of styles...ACDC'S Long way to the top & You're the Voice & Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar & Granada with Anthony Warlow (our Phantom of the Opera) & also Led Zeppelin's Blackdog (its only audio, it was his warm up). Then try When something is wrong with my baby with Jimmy Barnes who was the first singer from Cold Chisel the other day. Any song from this concert is brilliant. Great reaction mate ❤
Our beloved Australian icon - not only a great singer but a genuinely lovely man. In his 70’s now and battling mouth cancer and more recently pneumonia.
Thanks for the awesome reaction mate to this great Australian legend John Farnham who is known as the voice down under. Yes your right this man can sing and has sang for over half a century and has always had good hits in every decade.
Aussie here.. I grew up with John Farnham .. he is a pure gentleman.. His personality is as great as his voice... And that is his nickname here is Australia "The Voice".. I hope he survives his issues.. I'm 68 years old, I'm tough as a nut, but when and if he goes before me, I will go out the back yard away from everyone and cry like a baby...
As the saying goes, "You ain't seen nothin', yet!" John Farnham is phenomenal! He has a wonderful voice with a big vocal range, a career in song spanning six decades, has had top hits in every one, can sing in over 20 genres, is appreciated by famous singers from around the world, is a consummate professional, only has the best backing singers and band members, is very charismatic, has deep rapport with his audiences, was awarded the 'Australian of the Year' by the Federal Government of Australia, is a humble, funny and good human being and puts on concerts for charity. A film about his career in music will be released on May 18 th in Australia named, 'Finding The Voice'. Please check out, 'You're The Voice' live in concert and, 'When Something Is Wrong With My Baby' (with Jimmy Barnes and Diesel) at the ARIA awards. ALWAYS see and hear John Farnham LIVE and in concert where his Soul shines! There are many of his fabulous songs on You Tube to choose from. Aussies love him!
Like so many other Australians I’ve seen quite a few of John’s concerts, and now watch him on screen. Hearing him sing Help gives me goose bumps every time. He’s a humble man who treasures his family and loves his fans. He’s never forgotten his early days singing pop songs. He’s true to himself and we all love him. To us he is THE VOICE.
Hey mate have a look at He was only nineteen by Redgum. About a veteran returning from the Vietnam war very emotional have the tissues handy. God bless all the vets from USA and Australia.
Thank you! So pleased you have discovered John Farnham. I recommend You’re the Voice from the same concert. Burn for You, live version. When the War is Over, live. When his hair is shorter.❤❤ A LongWay to the Top, live
This concert was advertised as John and his Big Band in typical Aussie understatement, it's a 100+ piece orchestra for crying out loud. lol This song is one of the last songs of the night after he has already sung his heart out for nearly 3 hours, and Farnsey also has a way of getting into the emotions of your soul. A couple of songs worth checking have been mentioned below, plus these are worth a look also. The reason you haven't heard of him is because the US music industry is a closed little club. When John Farnham went to the US they didn't know which genre to put him in so his US promotions manager got him a couple of gigs in a little jazz club, where the MC introduced him as Jack Phantom. Couldn't even be bothered getting his name correct, so being a bit disheartened he wandered home to concentrate on his loyal fan base. The experience did give him inspiration to write a couple of good songs about missing his family, like this one. -Burn For You.. th-cam.com/video/4PPvOhPspEA/w-d-xo.html -Angels.. Notice how he holds the mike below his chest, both mikes are a metre away, which he does all the time to not drown out the other singers. John and Lisa Edwards, a top singer in her own right, and one of John's back up singers for 20+ years. th-cam.com/video/5_2NJRIdBO8/w-d-xo.html -To show the calibre of his other back up Singers, showing you have to be good in your own right, just like Lisa. Vanetta Fields and Lindsey Field. th-cam.com/video/_x6N94OEkZQ/w-d-xo.html -Please Don't Ask Me.. This one with Olivia Newton John, who we have recently lost. John has also had major cancer surgery including removal of part of his jaw and we may not hear him sing again. So let's enjoy this one as well.. th-cam.com/video/2uV_tZODfK8/w-d-xo.html -When Something Is Wrong With My Baby.... And even when he is singing with one of the most powerful voices on the planet, Jimmy Barnes, he still put the mike away from his face and closer to Jonny Diesel on guitar. th-cam.com/video/AU_bCchDWF4/w-d-xo.html Or this version. th-cam.com/video/RAlFHSPLHpo/w-d-xo.html -When The War Is Over… Possibly one of his greatest vocals. th-cam.com/video/lfWrXc5eN8g/w-d-xo.html -Or is the greatest. Gethsemane.. th-cam.com/video/k5woMZtClhI/w-d-xo.html Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.
All of the above are brilliant. Well worth the time spent listening and watching in awe at John Farnham. I have seen him in concert many times and was blown away every time! The last time was in 2019 at the Hay Mate fundraiser; he could still belt it out at the age of 70, a feat not duplicated by many. He is the GOAT!
Welcome to the amazing world of John Farnham. He is simply the best singer in the world! You have so many song choices to be made from TH-cam. One of his best is a sound only recording of a warm up before a concert that was accidentally recorded where he sings Led Zepplins Black Dog where he outsings Robert Plant. He can sing anything, but ALWAYS listen to him live as that is where he shines. Have fun and enjoy the journey!!!
Hi! Thank you for reacting to John! Can I request John Farnham with his back up singers singing Amazing Grace! One of his back up singers is formerly from the U.S. and she was a back up singer for several famous entertainers including Ike& Tina Turner! Her name is Venetta Fields! She is AMAZING! I think you will enjoy it! Loved your reaction! Peace and Blessings to you and your family from Australia.
John Farnham!!! “The Voice” he is an absolute legend here in Australia. This video was in the 80’s he was still singing into his late 60’s filling massive venues. Unfortunately he is battling some Heath issues at the moment. Have a listen to You’re the Voice (with Melbourne symphony Orchestra) and if you like something a little slower have a listen to him do Amazing Grace it will blow you away. Honestly Farnham could sing the alphabet and have us wrapped around his little finger. He’s done a few songs with Jimmy Barnes another Aussie singer you have reacted too so check them out.
From your reaction I can tell you are going to thank God (or whoever) for the day you were introduced to John Farnham. You'll love his humour, charisma, humility and talent. You're right - he has put all his heart into his performances over 6 DECADES and we Aussies have given him all of our hearts the whole time in return. He is adored in Australia - our national treasure. And you got your wish - Jimmy Barnes (lead singer of the other group you reacted to, which was Cold Chisel) teamed up a fair bit with John Farnham (or Farnsy as we call him). Next you should see Barnsy (Jimmy Barnes) and Farnsy do When Something is Wrong with my Baby (the Hey Hey Its Saturday version).
Aussie music from this era is really fascinating, aussie music was such a strange cultural melting pot from all over the world, and it birthed some incredible talents, John Farnam quite rightly is considered one of the all time greats that deserved even more love than they got (and aussies love Farnsy with all our hearts!). Even to this day, You're The Voice is essentially the unofficial National Anthem, every single aussie knows the words.
Welcome to the great John Farnham, a legend in his own lifetime. Glad you've discovered him. Best singer on the planet! They've just made a movie about him called John Farnham - Finding the Voice. Check out Long way to the top with the MSO, same concert.😊
John’s been singing for us since he was about 18. He is now nearly 74 (in July) and has been blessing us with his voice for 50 plus years. You need to react to his song You’re the Voice live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and also John singing AC/DC’s song It’s a Long Way to the Top if you want to Rock and Roll also with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
Thank you for pronouncing Melbourne correctly! I haven’t watched your vid yet I’m just super excited that for once someone has pronounced my home city correctly! 😍😂
LOL Thank you Devine, sometimes I get things wrong but that's what I like about my channel, I want to hear from you all (my troops), to have a conversation and learn from you all. For me that's more gratifying than the video itself, But the the music is what brings us all together so without that all of this channel means nothing. Thank you so much for the comment and hope to hear from you again soon.
He's one of our Aussie national treasures ❤ Here he is known as the voice. You're probably referring to John and Jimmy Barnes with The war is over. He and Jimmy have been friends for years . The concert was years ago. John is now 74 years old. Have a listen to You're the Voice from the same concerr. It's magic.
If you really want your mind blown, do a reaction to John Farnham & Jimmy Barnes duet “When Something is Wrong With my Baby”. Jimmy is the singer from Cold Chisel who gave you chills. Both are legends in Australia. Hop on board the Aussie rock train & we’ll be right there with ya! Thanks for your reaction, we love showcasing our Aussie talent to the rest of the world 😎
Thank you brother for a great reaction, I was at this concert in 1989 as an 18yr old and have never forgotten it, he is one of a kind, thanks for your reaction, look at you’re the voice from the same concert, new sub here brother
40 years and more since this was recorded. I am the same age as John. Cruising around 70. He was one of the best there has ever been. I remember when he was a young plumber working not far away from me in Melbourne. I worked with people who had the Bee Gees coming around to court their daughters It is important to remember from those halcyon days of Australian music there were other icons that were largely ignored by the American market. Not a question of right or wrong, just the way it was. Eva Cassidy, another fabulous performer, from the States, never had a chance either and she had the support of Fleetwood. I could point you at Thorpe and the Aztecs, Dragon, Shirley and the Sky Hooks, Chrissy Amphlett, Daryl Braithwaite (horses) Olivia Newton John, Little River Band and a dozen others. Some had some success but it has always been grudging. It is good that they are all getting recognition now but what is even better is remembering being at the concerts. From the Agora at Latrobe Uni where Split Enz started to The Sydney Myer Music Bowl, to Sunbury (where a few of these guys learned their chops). I don't think a lot of us Australians appreciated how important Molly Meldrum and Countdown were to exposing us to Australian groups and artists , as opposed to British and American influences. Wow, it is a very interesting topic and the pub scene during that period was great. I saw groups at the Middle Park Hotel that you could not get a ticket for now.
🤗Same concert, his song of 🤞You’re the Voice!🫶Will blow your mind.👍At the 3 minute mark he 🙏throws the microphone 🎤 stand and catches it.💕After this hit he 🫶was known as 🇦🇺The Voice here in Australia, 🇦🇺and the song has taken 🥰its place as 🙏and unofficial anthem.🇦🇺 💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for appreciating the amazing voice & talent of John Farnham. He can sing ANYTHING as in genre & is also a real comedian on stage. He’s very humble & always acknowledges everyone else on stage with him. A true Aussie legend & loved by us all. His recent battle with cancer took him off the stage in his 70’s when he was still singing incredibly but we’re all grateful he’s ok.
You reacted to Cold Chisel before, in this case fronted by Jimmy Barnes. Great Blues and Soul voice. This Farnham concert was recorded in the late 80s. Musta been one of the best concerts of all time. Everything came together: orchestra clearly enjoying themselves, Farnsey's band and backing singers in top form, he himself also in top form and an electric atmosphere. Energy from performers and audience built to an amazing level on top of each other. Check out Farnsey and Barnesy together in When Something Is Wrong with my Baby. IMHO the best version is the one on the 'Hey Hey It's Saturday' show.
I think this performance is in the legendary category. I don't think you could make a case that something else was strictly better than this delivery of "Help". John also nailed the finish like few performers can. Went for a pause, a gritty word slight pause, then a perfect classy final note. Not overkill, not a fade, and the band comes back in perfectly. Everyone from the sound mixing and volume levels to the musicians just nailed it to give John's exceptional vocals The support it deserved to make something that exceeds the exceptional into the timeless.
@@SteveHardie42 Who cares if the music was canned, the performance was live and exceptional, so yeah, I'm in the 'it is a live performance' camp. Anyone who dismisses it as not live is not doing anyone any favours.
He is so loved. He can sing any genre. Some suggestions are: ROCK It's a Long Way to the Top ACDC cover from the same concert OPERA: Grenada with Anthony Warlow from The Main Event concert THEATRE: Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar where he played Jesus BALLAD: Burn For You or Please Don't Ask Me with Olivia Newton John And for good measure, Black Dog (audio only) which was his warm up and sound check. Enjoy your journey. There is over 50years of his work ❤
Greetings from New Zealand! We love John here as much as in his homeland of Australia. He is an outstanding vocalist, and a wonderful and generous person. He does a lot for fundraisers and is very down-to-earth and funny. Look how far out he holds the mic, let loses none of his power. Just phenomenal. He is recovering from surgery, and we all wish him well, and hope that he can sing once more.
John farnham is fantastic! Such a great performer. He loves the audience. I went to two of his concerts in Melbourne Australia and they were brilliant. Such a velvet voice❤😊 Whispering jack concert was superb!!
If the performance you watched was When Something is wrong with my baby, or When the war is Over, then it was definitely Farnsey, but if it was Bow River with When the War is over, then No. Farnsey and Barnsey have beautiful blends together. That said, john Farnhams When the war is over, solo live, is my fave. Great reaction BTW
John is an extraordinary rabbit hole you will not ever regret going down. You last listened to Cold Chisel i believe. Not the guitarist/singer which was Ian Moss, but the guy in the background which was their backup/lead singer Jimmy Barnes did do a couple songs with John Farnham over the years. When Something Is Wrong With My Baby, is the most well known song between Jimmy, John and another guitarist/singer named Diesel. John is a classic example of a Diamond in the Rough. He reached Legendary and Iconic status in Australia and is also very well known and respected by other Legendary Musicians and Singers around the world. However he is little known to the worlds public until very recent which TH-cam has finally single handedly broken his name across the worlds public.
Definitely check out more from John, he is Australia’s favorite son and the voice of a god, or angel anyway. As mentioned check out more from this and other performances. Long way to the top(AC/DC cover), playing to win, you’re the voice and many more. He has so many great songs from ballads to opera, and a few great anthems like you’re the voice, let the banners fall, and a few more but try to react to live performances where possible, John is great live as you have seen.
Prayers for our Australian legend John Farnham fighting mouth cancer. I've had the pleasure of seeing him in concert many times, even stole a kiss from him on the cheek at one . His two sons say with treatment after surgery, say he's ok. But Prayers always needed for cancer sufferers and the sick. Please..
Yes- Wow! Welcome to The Voice. Not that show > the actual Voice. One of the best vocalists - and song writers - on the planet. John Farnham has been filling stadiums here for decades. He had so many 'Farewell' & 'Last' Tours, it became a running joke, but we just wouldn't let him retire! John last performed early 2020 at the 'Fight Fire' benefit concert for recovery from the devastating Bushfires we had all over the Eastern Coast of Australia at the time. He's been surprised and moved by his sudden 'rediscovery' via You Tube and he Reactor World - but none of his fans here are in the LEAST surprised. He' is one of the GREATS! Enjoy your exploration of more of his work. {And Hello from Tasmania } 😊
Same bloke mate. He is in a bad way at the moment. Our prayers go out to him and his family. If you want to see how crazy his voice can go may as I suggest you listen to his cover of When the war is over
John Farnham is such a legend that he is known as the Voice. He is an Australian national treasure. You should check out live version of John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes doing When Something Is Wrong With My Baby, which is a cover of the Sam and Dave song from the 60s.
He's been big in Australia since he was 17yo. We call him the voice. Listen to ( You're the voice ) you will love it. He's turning 70yo and is battling mouth cancer at the moment. He's not only a great singer but a great bloke. We love him here.
"Johnny" Farnham was a teen pop idol in 1967 - that's how long he's been famous in Australia. He just got better and better as he aged!
Hands up if you just love it when foreigners watch our John sing. First their mouths hit the floor and they realise they are hearing the magic that is John Farnham
. This man is loved and I mean really really loved by all Australians, in fact he is Australia. You haven't heard the best yet, because most of his songs are brilliant. 🙋🏻♀
Johnny is definitely our diamond in the rough
I love their reactions , especially when the choke up and tears well up
True 👍 we have a few classics for them all to hear. Im 80s blood and was raised listening to John and Jimmy Barns. Seen Jim live! My grandmother was more in love with John. Then, any woman out there, I think 😂 pictures of him on her walls. Childhood memories of nans house. John F, paddle pops, lollies and squeezed to death by nan 😆

the only way to listen to John is LIVE!!!!
This concert was in 1989. John was still performing until 2022, when he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in his jaw. Underwent a 12 hour surgery and is now recovering with his family. Every concert a sellout....5 to 10 thousand people, back of a truck to Rod Laver Arena....
You're the voice is one to listen to
He's probably the most loved and respected Australian singer We have.
He is awesome!!!!! thank you for the comment Glenn.
John Farnham (Farnzy) is an Australian legend 🇦🇺 🇦🇺 🇦🇺
He met his wife, Jill, in about 1970 & theyre still together. They have been thru big lows & huge highs. She has been his greatest help.

John has recovered from a lung infection that was a complication from his cancer surgery . Every single Aussie is rooting for him.

That was his last song of a 3hr solo concert.😮😮😮
No it wasn't, long way to the top was
3rd last. And it was closer to 2 hours of music than 3.
@@devilsadvocate2548 Someone will argue with you about that prong horn.
@@wallywombat164 they could, but I could then post a YT link to the video evidence that it was the 3rd last song of that particular recorded concert and that it was closer to 2 hours, intermission and the typical 'between songs John Farnham banter and jokes' aside of course! 😉
@devilsadvocate2548 Thank you mate.
This video is in the late 80’s

Welcome to John Farnham brother, look at his last time tour version of When The War Is Over🇦🇺🇺🇸
Best singer we missed out on in US. He was singing same time as Queen.
You can blame the US promoters in the 70s and 80s for dismissing him because they couldn't give him a label.
Aussie legend mate. Welcome to the Farnsey party.
John Farnham is an absolute GOD in Australia 🇦🇺 👍
The worlds greatest voice....& a bloody great bloke.
Cheers
Completely agree and concur... check out more of John's work... he can sing any type of tune... and always with passion :-)

Welcome to the Farnsy youtube rabbit hole brother! Pack a lunch, it goes hella deep!
Welcome to the Farnsey rabbit hole. Bring supplies… it’s a loooooong one😁❤️🇦🇺
Thank you for listening to Farnsey. Listen to You’re the Voice live in Melbourne with the MSO it’s awesome
Great reaction. John Farnham is an aussie legend. As is Jimmy Barnes. When you put them together, you get dynamite!! Check this one out... Jimmy Barnes & John Farnham - When Something Is Wrong With My Baby
Such a fantastic performance, John tajes the classic Beatles' song and makes it his own.. almost unrecognisable.
Our wonderful John is so adored here in Australia 💕💕
Johnny is phenomenal! Touch of paradise is another beauty of a song I adore.
He and Jimmy Barnes were two of best singers ever.
How did I miss this one for 2 days!

Same, found it so early I was wondering where all the regulars were, Kap, Carolyn, George, and the rest of the gang 😄 glad this video is getting the love it deserves now.
Please don’t ask me- John Farnham and Olivia newton-John superb❤
The greatest male vocalist ever in my opinion.
A legend we call the " Voice" .🇦🇺
Theres nothing john farnham cant sing. His voice is top notch. He has such a huge catalogue of music that you'll be spoilt for choice on what to react to. And the more you discover, the more you will understand why his is idolised in Australia.
Youre the Voice is his most famous song. And always always choose live versions over studio recordings and you will be astounded by the quality of his live vocals. Which are even better that his recorded stuff. ❤
Btw.

Thank you for appreciating the legendary John Farnham! I never get tired of listening to his version of the Beatles song HELP.
John is a legend! Always listen to him live 😊
Hey! John is amazing and I cant wait to get to more videos of him. One of my favorites so far! thank you so much for the comment!
He is always at his best in live concert.

Yes I agree to everything you said! this man is amazing! Thank you so much for the comment.
Yes. He is a big deal, a wonderfully talented Aussie larrikin, much loved by us all. More please.
Loved this! I'm the same age as John's sons. Seen him live in concert with Olivia (RIP) with my Mum and Grandma (RIP). Now my son loves him too💙
Hey mate have a look at He was only nineteen by Redgum. About a veteran returning from the Vietnam war very emotional have the tissues handy. God bless all the vets from USA and Australia.

So pleased you have discovered John Farnham.
I recommend You’re the Voice from the same concert.
Burn for You, live version.
When the War is Over, live. When his hair is shorter.❤❤
A LongWay to the Top, live
“Those guys need to get together” - they did! Try ‘when something is wrong with my baby’ (please live), it is incredible:)
This concert was advertised as John and his Big Band in typical Aussie understatement, it's a 100+ piece orchestra for crying out loud. lol
This song is one of the last songs of the night after he has already sung his heart out for nearly 3 hours, and Farnsey also has a way of getting into the emotions of your soul.

-Angels..
Notice how he holds the mike below his chest, both mikes are a metre away, which he does all the time to not drown out the other singers.
John and Lisa Edwards, a top singer in her own right, and one of John's back up singers for 20+ years.

-To show the calibre of his other back up Singers, showing you have to be good in your own right, just like Lisa.
Vanetta Fields and Lindsey Field.

-Please Don't Ask Me..
This one with Olivia Newton John, who we have recently lost. John has also had major cancer surgery including removal of part of his jaw and we may not hear him sing again. So let's enjoy this one as well..

-When Something Is Wrong With My Baby....
And even when he is singing with one of the most powerful voices on the planet, Jimmy Barnes, he still put the mike away from his face and closer to Jonny Diesel on guitar.

-When The War Is Over…

-Or is the greatest.
Gethsemane..

Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.
Love John. He always puts 110% into every performance. There are some great suggestions in the comments. I am happy to hear anything sung by John.

Thank you so much! Yes I will check that out for sure.
@@greygolem I totally agree.
Whilst the vocals from Hey Hey were live, the band was pre-recorded, so many don't consider it a "live" performance. I agree the vocals were the best.
Got to give a shout out to david hirschfelder on piano for the orchestral arrangements too
@@SteveHardie42 Who cares if the music was canned, the performance was live and exceptional, so yeah, I'm in the 'it is a live performance' camp. Anyone who dismisses it as not live is not doing anyone any favours.
He is so loved.
He can sing any genre. Some suggestions are:
ROCK It's a Long Way to the Top ACDC cover from the same concert
OPERA: Grenada with Anthony Warlow from The Main Event concert
THEATRE: Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar where he played Jesus
BALLAD: Burn For You or Please Don't Ask Me with Olivia Newton John
And for good measure, Black Dog (audio only) which was his warm up and sound check.
Enjoy your journey. There is over 50years of his work
❤
One of the Beatles best. Johnny is a legend and completely changed the delivery of the song.
Thank you for this reaction, 😊 waiting to see Whispering Jack movie! ❤️🙏🏻 from Australia

Great Artist! Great Track! Great Reaction!!!! Thank You so Much ✌ Thumbed and subbed 👍
John is now 74 years of age and you will find vlogs of him from 1960 somethig to last year, including fiftyith and 70ith birthday concerts
Another thing, John never wears shit in his ears !
Great reaction
If the performance you watched was When Something is wrong with my baby, or When the war is Over, then it was definitely Farnsey, but if it was Bow River with When the War is over, then No. Farnsey and Barnsey have beautiful blends together. That said, john Farnhams When the war is over, solo live, is my fave. Great reaction BTW
Hi there. John is performing with the Melbourne Symphonie Orchestra, he often does. God bless.
Check out his cover of Black dog Led Zeppelin, he done it as a warm up before concert
Check out him singing with Jimmy Barnes from Cold Chisel . Something Is Wrong With My Baby. Made number one on the charts in Australia back in 1981.
'Get it Johnny'... love your reactions. Please keep doing more of our John's live performances. I'll be back for more (just subbed).
Thank you so much and there will be more of him, He is amazing!
Yes John is the Aussie dude we all love and admire , great talent
Congratulations Mate you are now an Honorary Australian........for LIFE!
WOOT! WOOT! Thank you so much my friend. This man is all talent!!!
'Man he has got a good voice' in Australia he is known as the Voice - true legend!
