Thank You, Thank You, Thank You BOFI Racing! Finally the MK3 gets a fair review and the attention it richly deserves. Those of us who own MK3s already know how good they are and I’ll be watching for the updates! Well done guys.
i know im a bit late but im a new NC owner (its the only one i fit in) and idk how a car could be bettsr. Its only a 1.8 but its quick enough for my forst sports car
After 6 years in the wilderness... I just spunked 10k on a kuro Edition. A couple of years back, Could have got it for 6. A point Comes when you have to say, Fuck it ! The combustion engine Is coming to an end. Enjoy it while You can. 👍
I was on the verge of buying a boxster 987 2.7 and then I took a drive in 10 plate 2.0 sport and absolutely loved the way you can ring it out and really enjoy the twitchy rear end that was easy to control
I love my '06 mk3 Its a pleasure to drive everyday when im driving for pleasure or commuting. I personally don't plan on moding it past what I already done (35mm lower coil overs + duck tail spoiler which I regret having on it :D) Would like to throw a catback exhaust on it at somepoint but in due time. Great video. Nice to see mk3 love
Hoorah!! At last a man under 6'5" who isnt complaining about lack of headroom lol. Great cars, cant say enough good things about them sitting as i am in mine and reflecting on the fact that ive just driven it every day for three years and as well as being a great car to drive it has also been one hundred percent reliable.
Many of you may have failed to notice that the huge juggernauts are slowly disappearing from our roads Replaced by predominately small cars ( mostly hatchbacks ). But other small practical little cars like the MX5’s My prediction here, Good MX5s low mileage ones, are going to go up in value in the next year or so. ( by much more than you would imagine ) The coming financial “ Pinch “ will skyrocket them into far higher prices, Probably 25% more…. Just my opinion here ….
@@stat1865 My NB was really nice, but the NC definitely feels more sorted. But then my NC has better coil overs than my NB had. But for me that extra bit of go, the limited slip diff, it's just a more sorted car. Especially when pushing on a bit. The traction control is dopey AF but that just gets turned off anyway. But yea more controllable and more eager than the NB. And controversially I think its the best looking MX5 since the NA and to date. But then I like Land Rovers too hahaha. The NB felt like a heavy and slightly frumpy NA, the NC feels heavier but because of the extra power the weight isn't to its detriment its far more predictable and intuitive to drive.
@@Radingtonbear I has an nc didn't like it but it was a standard 1.8, would like to drive an nc that's set up properly, had 2 1990 jdm imports before and loved them, if I go back to mx5 think I will have to be na again loved them, treated myself to an s2000 couple months back can't see me ever selling it
Loving having the videos back! Pumped for this series... Had a play with some nc2 bbr turbos (stage 1 and stage 2) at Blyton Park the other day and wow... They're capable!
Great video, I love 99% of mine except for the notchy gear changes. Which oil is in yours? Is there anything else added? I'm in Australia, the fabled Ford unicorn tears isn't available here and I wondered if you had any tips on gear oils. TIA!
@@BOFIRacingTV this vid just got recommened to me again and i felt like i needed to update this comment :) Just bought myself a 2 liter 6 speed nc1 a few months ago for a great price. Such a joy to drive, amazing daily!
Styling of the MK1 fits the car personality the best being focused on “classy” instead of “sporty’. It is not a power house that races in straight lines. It’s made to be enjoyed. You can make it as fast without inviting people to beat you at traffic lights. Again it’s a Miata thing
Never liked the NC, but I must say a lap or two at Curby and this video is starting to convince me... I just can't get on board with the looks, but for a drivers car it certainly is appealing.
@@BOFIRacingTV no way, the MK1 is iconic! I agree you can make it look much better, but it doesn't take as much effort as an NC1. I am starting to look past the exterior though, it's a fun car to drive.
I didn't like the looks of my NC1 that much, but some black racing stripes (on galaxy grey), black Oz racing wheels and tinted tail lights worked wonders.
Thanks guys, am stoked to see An nc build on your channel. Have Had an nc2 for a while. Stick with it. Really great content. Technical Knowledge is first rate. Go on, Give us another one. 👍👊
@@BOFIRacingTV Brilliant, I’ll keep watching , hopefully it’ll work out substantially cheaper than one in particular that’s out there, I’ve had a 2008 NC for 3 years with 180 remap , piper filter and manifold, H&R springs, EBC disks with yellow stuff pads, i go on track when I can although great fun it needs extra power/torque to compete against some other vehicles. Exciting times for NC owners 👍👍👍👍
Now that NA/NB prices are rising, here comes the NC redemption arc... Never watched an NC build but based on random Instagram recommendations they have as much potential as any other generation.
*Have always liked the MX5 and used to work with the UK press fleet when they were released back in the late 80's. I used to love driving them when they were new. Am about to buy my first NC as a budget track car that I can also drive on the roads here in Cornwall. I've paid less than the cost of a set of tyres for my old E46 M3 so am looking forward to doing some basic mods to make it look and drive as I want. Suspension is first on the list I think. Any suggestions? When is the next video coming on this build?*
As a former NB and current NC2 owner I can say the NC is superior in every way IMO. I came across this build series looking forward to seeing the progress but it looks like you’ve given up? WTH man?

Mk3's were always the ginger step child on MX-5's, good to see them getting a bit of love at last.
Definitely, people who hate on them have never driven one. Modded ones look so badass, especially NC2s and NC3s
@@BOFIRacingTV check out the NC1 with the mazdaspeed bumpers and skirts, might change your mind
Unloved NC's? Have you seen the recent price rises, I paid £5k for mine 4 years ago, NC2 59 plate. I'd love an NC3 but the values have gone mental.

Nice work lads! I loved my tweaked grey and tan NC. Controversial, I prefer the looks of the NC1 over the others. See you all at Llandow 2022.
Thanks Nick! Everyone needs at least one weird kink, and yours is the NC1
I own an NC1 (galaxy grey) that I really like, but consider the NC3 the best looking one.
So glad you guys are bring back the content.
Wouldn't have put money in the first vid being an NC though
Thanks James, we like a bit of shock and awe 😁

We sure hope so! It's honestly amazing to drive. With good NC1s available for less than £2.5k they should be on everyone's list that wants an MX-5.

Does this mean your going to have a tubo kit available for these cars in the future ;) ?
Come on then, what’s the update on the mk3? It’s been 9 months!
When is this happening
The difference in weight from NB to NC is... 17 kg.
People say around 100, but they changed the way the weight was considered

Nice review. But when you say “it fits me,” it would be helpful to know how tall “me” is.
as a nb1 owner i prefer the nc1 looks over nc2

As an NC1 owner, my preference looks-wise would be: NC3 > NC1 > NC2.
