Just the tutorial I was looking for! I whipped one up in no time using scrap material and batting. I had everything on hand that I needed. No cost and very handy! Thanks Misty and Missouri Star for another great project!!
Thank you! I watched this video a few weeks ago. Then I made an ironing top for my TV tray. The only change I made was to put 1/4" elastic in rather than making a tie. It works great! Now I can easily remove the top if it requires a trip to the washer. Great video! Thanks for the great idea!
I discovered this tutorial quite by accident, but exactly at the right time! I made this up in less than 30 minutes. I did not use cardboard and the tin foil (I couldn't find cardboard at home) but I did have some left over thermal batting, 3 layers of cotton batting, no bias tape so I took off a nice and thick salvage strip and done! Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Thank you so much for showing this. I have to make tablecloths for our camping tables, I was going to make them another way more fussy sewing and dreaded Velcro but now that idea is tossed and I am going to be very happy in my sewing room whipping tablecloth draws just like this. Love from Australia
I’m really enjoying your tutorials that you do by yourself. You do much better when you’re not constantly being interrupted. I so wish you would keep doing them by yourself. Thank you!
I think you may be thinking of live demos or replay of lives. She’s answering questions…but I agree this is much more enjoyable. She’s a great instructor.
@@JohanneBrunner The camera man use to constantly interrupt her and it was annoying to me and distracting to her. She does great on her tutorials but I enjoy her without all the distractions.
Thanks, I already bought a small board, but this gives me a great, convenient place to put it. Love it when other people have great ideas, no need to reinvent the wheel!
Misty, this is a great idea. So perfect for traveling and when you are meeting with your quilting group for a day of sewing, if you cutting and ironing this is the perfect item. Many, many thanks. So smart!!
What a neat idea. I had a thought from this. I would like to iron right next to my sewing machine so I am going to try making your ironing board idea but with a wooden cutting board from the kitchen. We have too many and this would make a good use for one.-- I hope it works. Thank you for sharing.
I used elastic instead of a draw string. Works for me as it seems easier to get it off and on. I have another which is double sided and has insulbrite between the layers I take to retreats and fits over my small outdoor bbq table. I need some of the Tula fabric though so a new cover is now on the to do list! Thanks for the great tutorial.
Thanks Misty! This is a great and useful project. My sewing teacher gave me a bogus solution that wasted my time and fabric. Also, you are a wonderful orator. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for this video! I really needed one of these next to my sewing machine. I made one tonight and it was so quick and easy. I had leftover shoelaces from making masks, so I tied two together to use for a drawstring. The little plastic thing (aglet) at the end of the shoelace acted as a safety pin, making it easy to thread through the casing.
Thrift Shops are a great place to locate just one TV table. Many times they are stained, etc. So if you know the people who work there, ask them to be on the lookout for one and call you when it comes in! I manage a church thrift shop and have sent many of these out the door to recycle - I'll snag the next good one that comes in to make this table! Thanks for the tutorial. I'm a "new" quilter who has been bitten by the "bug"!
Yes the thrift stores always have them, and they are so cheap. Went to the goodwill last month and saw a bunch of tv trays as low as $2.99 ea. I will definitely have to pick one up next time I’m there.
so amazing I made one and just love it to death thank you so much. I didnt need to spend 45 to 50 dollars and used what I already had on hand love love love even the tray lol
Thanks! Great Tutorial! I used 1/2 inch wide braided elastic for a snug fit. I did whip stitch the batting around the edges to keep it from shifting, but what an easy project.
I made one a couple of years ago when Jenny showed it in one of her tutorials. I love it. It sits next to my sewing machine and is so handy. Mine doesn't have the removable cover. I think it needs an upgrade!!
Wow I didn't see the original video but I needed a pressing table that didn't take up too much space in my sewing corner so I covered a wood TV tray and with batting and a double layer of an old cotton sheet. I stapled the sheet to the underside of the tv table. I love this idea removable cover so much better!! If I ever need the tv tray again it would be easy to "un-do"
I might make this. As I like the idea of being able to fold it away. At present I have a covered board I just place on top. Although depending on where I’m sewing it stii comes in handy.
Misty, you did a great job on this tutorial. You are just so cute and I like the hair. Now I need to find a tray table when things open up here in Florida
Misty I think you do a really good job on your tutorials. You someone that hasn’t been sewing for years and years you are great. Just had to tell you. Thank you for all the tutorials you do. Keep it up. My dear.
I love love love this idea of the drawstring I made one but I stapled mine underneath the trey but of course I couldn’t change it to wash it , kudos to you great idea love the drawstring ❣️🥰💕🧵✂️
Thanks, this is perfect! I have a wooden tray table and making this protective covering will be so much better than just using several layers of fabric!
Hello Misty, this is Great Idea! 😁 Thank you, I need to make one for myself 💕 I am a Total New Beginner to Quilting 😋 in fact only made my first 9 blocks in the last few days with Strip Scrappy 8" Blocks 💚 & think I have a New Hobby besides Crocheting 💜😁 Erica x
Thank you so much Misty, that’s a great 👍 idea 💡. I really really love 💕 this and I would definitely have a go at making this, so very helpful and useful to. Stay safe and well xxx Mags
That is so much easier than the one I made. The pattern was to use batting and the silver ironing board cover material, staple gun it to the under side of the TV tray but I added a cover of decorative upholstery fabric over it and staple gunned that. I like e drawstring idea to wash if needed.
I have Never seen Sewing Notions Fabric 😁 how adorable 💕 I live in the UK & locally I have one very small fabric shop 😋 but it is not open at the moment 💙 I did get some Fat Quarter fabric recently 😋 but also never seen Jelly roll strips or charm packs 😋💜 Erica x
Misty, I have to tell you, I've been using my retractable rotary cutter and when you explained how easy it was to use yours I got mine out and have been using it ever since, it is so much easier on my hand, almost gave it away!!! I had bought it on MSQC when it was on sale, forgot all about it. Thank you for all your tutorials--
Love this idea as it would be super helpful for small living spaces. Could you use Insul-Bright for the batting instead of using scrap batting and aluminum foil?
Misty ,may I ask .Were did you get that iron that pops up after you are done ironing .It is neat .I like it ..Thank you . oh yes going to make that Ironing board have a small apt and will work great for me ..
I would put a 3/4 inch button hole in the 1 inch fold hem. Then sew all the way around. You and then just thread your tie fabric through and you’re done. The button hole will hold up better in the long run too.

Thanks, Misty, for the re-vamp! Great as a ‘take-along’. Appreciate your knowledge!!!😊
I used your video to make a ironing table out of an old treadle sewing machine base. It’s wonderful!
Misty is my favourite instructor.

We just completed two trays, yea! Thank you for the video.

Best trick for ironing board.I enjoy your best idea.Im so happy. Thanks. very very thanks so much.👌👌👌
LOVE this... It will work so much better than the small table top ironing board I purchased.
I love that iron. Never seen one like that before. I love how when you let go, it rises and you don't have to sit it up.
Thanks Misty! This is a great and useful project. My sewing teacher gave me a bogus solution that wasted my time and fabric. Also, you are a wonderful orator. Keep up the good work.

Where did you find a little wooden tv tray? I can't seem to find one.
Thank you. I bought a tray table last year for a weekend in Oklahoma. I haven't used it since. NOW I can make this. 😀
Love this idea and so portable. Thank you Misty. Watching from Seaside, Oregon
Best one I have seen so far!!! I have been wondering how to make one with a moisture barrier!!!!

I love it Misty. Great idea. You did all the work!
Thank you. I made this in about 30 minutes. I added a layer of insulated batting.
Misty I really enjoyed the original video mistakes and all it was fun. I made two covers. Thanks so much.
Nifty idea! Your hair is adorable, by the way!
Your shirt is gorgeous! That is a great color for you.
so amazing I made one and just love it to death thank you so much. I didnt need to spend 45 to 50 dollars and used what I already had on hand love love love even the tray lol
Awesome idea! Thank you! BTW, your hair is so cute❣️
Thanks, Misty for the great tutorial! Just finished mine and it fit like a glove!
Thanks! Great Tutorial! I used 1/2 inch wide braided elastic for a snug fit. I did whip stitch the batting around the edges to keep it from shifting, but what an easy project.

Love this! And no ripping out staples when you need to change covers❤️❤️❤️

oldladytoofast, or just put a new cover over the top!
Thank you so much!
I needed one of those, never new how to make it.

Great cover for the TV tray! thanks!
I love the intro music for your videos, especially the quack at the end!
Great video young lady!
Thanks Misty. This is a great video

I’ve done this! Use it all the time! 👍
I love this idea. I will have to re do mine.
Cute idea! Thanks so much...2 of my wooden TV trays are being used as matching end tables so now I will have to break down & buy real end tables 😂
PS: The ironing board printable is nowhere to be found at the link given. Will re-watch & write it down.😨

Thank you bunches
I am excited about making one. I'm thinking about using a wool mat under my fabric.
Thank you! I will be making this!
I love that project!
Very cool. Thanks 💙
All of this wants me to get out of bed and sew all night so I can have stuff ready for the morning. It would be a good thing to have ready.

Where in UK do you live Erica?
I also live in the UK and get most of my fabric from amazon, they do a lovely Moda range
Thank you much❤️❤️❤️
Love this idea

Very clever, I like it.
That's awesome.
Love this idea as it would be super helpful for small living spaces. Could you use Insul-Bright for the batting instead of using scrap batting and aluminum foil?
I think that's a great idea, though I would probably still use an extra couple of layers of cardboard and batting or old flannel to protect the table.
Great video...you could also use cotton cording for the drawstring as well.
Whatever will fit and not break when you use it, Linda!
Great idea - thank you!!
Brilliant!!
What wool pressing mat are you using? Hearing a lot about them and not sure which to get.
Great tutorial Thanks!
I love this idea. I also love the auto rest on your iron. I see is pops up when you put the iron down. Where can I buy it?
Yes! I’d love to know as well!
💕What a good idea. 💗💕
Great video, so nice not to have the bantering! You did a great job by yourself!
Where did you get your iron? I love it !
So clever👍
Awesome what kind of an iron ?
I used a mismatched pillow case for the outside covering. The closure for the end is Velcro so the cover can be removed and laundered.
Thank you so much!
Misty ,may I ask .Were did you get that iron that pops up after you are done ironing .It is neat .I like it ..Thank you . oh yes going to make that Ironing board have a small apt and will work great for me ..
Awesome
Great idea thanks.
Excellent!
You just gave me the know how to cover a rectangular ikea stool that I want to add some foam for comfort thanks
I would put a 3/4 inch button hole in the 1 inch fold hem. Then sew all the way around. You and then just thread your tie fabric through and you’re done. The button hole will hold up better in the long run too.
Did you use cotton batting?
Just wondering if you could tell me what size stitch should you use for your quilt
