It's a Casio, it looks like a Casio, but it is also elegant enough to go with a suit, so thin it disappears under a cuff - and that mesh bracelet is its perfect companion. I want one. In my opinion, definitely "liquid-nitrogen" cool.
There will always be haters who hate. I agree with you, my friend. This is definitely "liquid nitrogen" cool and I am getting one for my next birthday coming up soon. I was aiming for the A158, however, this is much better IMHO and the band is to die for.
They take things in mind as back light and alarm into place before saying how long the battery will last If you use these things less or don't use them at all then your battery will definitely last longer
I love casio. I work in engineering and often unable to get hold of a new one. Not that would matter as everyone I have ever talk to about casio is "it will never run out of battery, the strap will break first." And I have only ever had one strap break after 5-7 years and the battery only then was starting to show it age with the digits starting to fad slightly. Reliable, cheap, basically unbreakable.
I am glad that you made this comment. I have always been afraid of metal bands because of them grabbing arm hair. Had some nasty metal bands in the past that made me swear never again. Maybe I will try this one.
@@dtshifter I can definitely recommend this band. I had a casio with the regular metal band and my arm hair would get caught in it multiple times a day, but the a700's band I don't think has caught on the hair even once
By the way, the side light problem (also on F-91W and on other models) can be easily solved with a super-bright white (or green) 1206 size (on this thin one, maybe 0805 or 0603) SMD LED. Simply replace the LED, if it's not bright enough, find a resistor in series with the LED and replace it by a resistor with 3..4 times smaller value (usually 39 or 51 Ohm).
Ice cold! Thanks for showing this piece, Ben! Didn't now that Casio makes such thin watches with this classic style. Just ordered one! Thanks and all the best from Germany
Among others, I have the A500 and the SS ae1200. For work purposes or EDC, these two are my favorites. I love the world time function and their elegance.
Love the look of this watch, recommended it immediately to the friend who lent me his gold casio, if he doesn't end up buying it for me to borrow, will definitely have to pick this up for myself!

along with the other comments I guess it also comes down to what you class as more usefull you have to set up a countdown timer where as a stop watch you can just quickly press start and your in buisness
A very nice looking Casio. I like the clean monochrome aesthetic too. Just wish it were made of stainless steel and not resin with a mineral glass or sapphire crystal rather than acrylic. I’d pay extra for those, as it’s not exactly expensive to begin with!

I bought this watch, the display is so much better than my GW-M5610, it seems much closer to the glass, like painted on compared to the GW, the characters are much more thiner and defined, the backlight is super strong and the amber color is very nice, what a fantastic watch, this need a stainless case, the chrome coated resin doesn't inspire confidence regarding durability.
W800 beats the F-91 on every level, same price bracket with better screen and more functions. A simple hack and you can enable countdown timer too, wondering why it's never been reviewed on this channel 🤔
The A700, with its subtle silver/grey/black theme is a far more elegant watch than the F-91 and its multi-colored variants. As an architect and designer I could definitely see myself wearing the A700 without the slightest reservations over its aesthetics.
"Casio watches are a bit of an addiction" I can confirm as well, I used to own a knockoff F-91. When that one kicked the bucket, I immediately bought a genuine F-91W, and after this video I went out of my way to Amazon myself an A700w. I definitely plan to buy more in the future, as well. The A168 is classy and distinguished, but not overbearing. It knows what it is, and it's not trying to overstate itself. Casio will forever be one of those watch companies that just sticks around, always there when you need a cheap, reliable, nice-looking watch.
@@notsportlive I don't wear it too often, but it looks super nice and stays pretty comfortable. I will say though, the stock band on it is a bit of a hair puller at first. I recommend one of those tight-weave flexible metal bands, or maybe a NATO like most Casios (however I don't think a NATO would look too great on a spiffy watch like the A700w) The backlight is way better on the A700w, of course with it being a newer watch, and all. I think it's a decision by the regional marketing group. You'll notice that the same sizes are often marketed differently in Japan, for example. It doesn't look like a goddam Decepticon resting on your wrist that's why. A lot of guys compensating for something like their goddam watches as big as a tank. That's the tack their marketing department apparently took.
I always go back to my A158WE for a daily wear work watch. The fact that there's something thinner is honestly amazing. My only qualm is the backlight. I'd go out and get one of these today if it had the illuminator technology instead of the sidelight, which is objectively subpar. Shame, really, but maybe future iterations and variants will have the better lighting. Great review! I'd place it on the upper end of COOL.

Hi Ben, I came across this watch late last year while browsing in a jeweller here in my local town centre. The price at the time I got it was £27 and because it had a grey dial, a mesh bracelet and was really slim I went ahead and purchased it. I wasn't to be disappointed with it and I wear it often. It's very stylish and very comfortable to wear as the bracelet actually curves with your wrist which is why it's so nice to wear. I really would recommend Casio watch buyers to get one of these watches as they are awesome. Thank you for reviewing this watch.
It's always a relief to come across videos talking about cheap Casio watches - instead of watch videos talking about $50,000 monstrosities as if they were something everyone seriously considers buying.
My early '70s Swiss-made Hamilton 19001-3 mechanical watch has a case thickness of 5.5mm (which includes the case back) and a diameter of 35mm. The current crystal adds a little more thickness to that 5.5mm than the original did though, because the guy who replaced it last didn't have one as low-profile as the old one.
In a 1984 Casio catalog it shows a watch similar to this called the SA-72 that is 6.6mm thick, but it's squarer in shape and had only a 15 month battery life. They also had a model called SA-100 that was 3.75mm thick.
I agree - this is def a contender! I like the black plastic F91Dubs - so far not seeing this version in black acrylic vs the 'metal'.... I'll be keeping my eyes open though. I'd gladly pick one up.
I've got a cheapy casio F94-W that I bought in Thailand from a little street-side stall in 2005 for one or two pounds - 16 years later and the original battery has only just run out. One of the best things I ever bought.
Nice vid and cool watch.. however I prefer the F-91 due to its more sporty looks.. in my opinion this new A700 lacks the character the F-91 has. Congrats on the 20K subs, keep up the good work!:)
of course, the A700 doesn't pretend to seem like F-91, the A700 is a tribute to SA-410 a legendary watch that did to Casio win the good design award in 1982, it's another line, it's another history, is for another segment of the market
Some months ago I bought a digital Casio to remind me of the old days. I already owned a Casio Gshock Tough Solar, which is bulky and uncomfortable. This is the 159 model, and I find myself only taking it off when I go for a shower. It is by far the best watch I have bought. Cheap, reliable and you hardly know you are wearing it. Casio knows what works!
Id like to see something like this as milspec dark case, NATO or ZULU strap so it can be worn outside the jacket or smok and importantly a lume background so you dont have to hold the light on, it could even recharge its own lume
Casio are great. Very affordable and just near perfect for anybody. Those models are so sturdy, I still have my grandfather's f91 and still going strong. I might give it to my grandchildren if I ever get one
I bought a Casio 863 SDB-500W in the 1980's (Can't remember the exact year it was introduced), which IMO was and will always be the perfect runner's watch. I still wear this watch today, although the year only goes up to 2019, so I had to set it for a year in the 80's which had the correct day of the week for the current month. I'll use this watch until it no longer functions.
Bought this watch a half year ago, after i saw a video on TH-cam and fall in love with the look, but it haven't got much wristtime in the end. I have a 6.25 inch wrist too, but could not get this milanese bracelet work for me. It is sooo long and when sizing it for my wrist it's end almost loops double around my wrist, giving the bracelet a stiff round shape. But my wrist isn't round shaped, so the caseback doesn't sit on my skin but sticks out and there uncomfortable pressure points at the sides of my wrist. I am still mesmerised buy its monochrome look and how slim it is. Beautiful watch. If your small wrist isn't round but more of rectangular shape I would suggest to go for the other bracelet option casio offer for this watch.
The thinnest watch I ever had was in 1986 by a company called “ Lorimar “, I think it was called that. Was black and solar powered. It literally was about 1.5mm thick
I was about to buy a Casio F-91W then I decided to see what other watches Casio makes, which are similar to that watch yet ... more to my liking. Found this video and wow... love at first sight! Bought it.
I own the Casio A700W-1A which is the same watch, just with a different bracelet. It's the most comfortable watch to wear and so elegant. My only complaints are the diameter (if it were only 2 or 3 mm bigger it would be the perfect watch) and the sturdiness. I already got a few scratches within the first days of wearing it. Love your videos, mate. Best regards from Germany.
I think what makes this A700 so presentable sort of an art work is the light colors of the dial which matches the color and the patern of the bracelet. I had seen other A700's before, none of them had cought my eye but this one. thank you for bringing out
i just started to have this casio journey, my brother gave me a ga2100 (full black) as birhtday present. really love it and i bought the "futur" collabs to switch on daily wear and after saw this video, i might gonna order this one too. thanks for the video, really help me find out about this watch
I bought this watch after watching your review. It's a sleek little thing and makes my G-Shocks look like trucks! Mine came in a beautiful black-and-gold metal case stating 'vintage collection' on the outside. I paid around $65 on Amazon and think it's a fine buy. Thanks for your review! PS--love the slinky band, I can remember paying nearly $100 for one looking this from Italy, in the seventies-
Casio specifies: "Case / bezel material: Resin" So, what i'm concerned about is - will the finish start to come off after a couple of months of use, like it happens with some F-91W variants?
as an update to what I wrote 7 months ago. It's been a year now, and I've been wearing the watch almost regularly, the only places where the finish started to come off a bit is the inner area of the lugs. But otherwise pretty solid.
@@darkwilliam94 a yeah and a half of regular wear (and I mean literally almost every day) later, you can definitely notice some peeling of the finish around the case back and the edges of the watch, nothing too noticeable if you don't know it's there and don't look hard enough. A shame, of course, but I didn't expect anything stellar from a chromed resin case
Thanks so much for the recommendation. It's probably my favorite all around in my collection. It's simple, feels solid, elegant, so so small. It can be dressed up or down, good basic additional features, good light. not much else to say, great watch.
As someone who owns A158WEA, A700WEM-7A, F-91W, GW-B5600BC, Citizen Eco-Drive BM8180 *and* Seiko SNK809 - all are great watches - I'd like to point out that A700WEM is my favorite of them so far. If, for some reason, I was allowed to only have one timepiece, it would surely be GW-5600BC, but if I could have three, they would be GW-5600BC, SNK809 and this.
this watch looks nice.. the classic casio package in a slightly moderniced case, that, just.. cool. but the steal-case argument is a good argument. so im waiting, till the a1000 line drops in price (100 € are to much for a basic digital casio, even in stainless steel), and then i will grab one of those
Came here after watching your second video about this watch. Watched it whole and then realised I've already liked it. I really cannot seem to get enough of this watch! **BANK, HERE I COME**
I owned the gold-tone version (A700WMG-9AVT) and it was too tiny for my large wrist. Also, the resin parts scratched too easily for my taste. That being said, it's super was easy to operate and super easy to read the time.
TH-cam keeps recommending your videos, which are amazing! 👏🏾😌 Really good work! But this isn't safe for my wallet or financial stability 🤣 two watches are enough in my drawer
Bought recently the black dial variant £28 n wow Ben this a true vintage casio i love it and have a 7.5 wrist n looks good compared to me F-91w ... they would sell thousands if made it out of stainless steel casing and sapphire glass maybe...
This is something we were all hoping for. Awesome legibility, great backlight, subdued function advertising, plus now a mesh strap. The better A158 Now please tell Casio to make a black resin case and band version of this watch 😅 And PLEASE work on the pricing 🤦♂️
Probably this is the nicest digital watch of Casio, is a tribute watch to SA-410 especially the model A700W, by the way, the SA-410 did to Casio win the good design award in 1982, maybe this is the reason for his great design, it's in his DNA
I would pay extra for one made in steel with a mineral crystal. The similar Casio with the mother of pearl is made in steel. But unfortunately, it has mother of pearl. This one sure is "Cool"
Your wish was heard. The A1000 series has both, stainless steel housing and mineral glass (but it is 5x the price and uses only a CR1616 instead of CR2016 reducing the battery life time to about half).
@@friedhelmschroter8124 It took me a year to get a A1000. I was not a fan of the mother of pearl look. But when the gold and brown version came out, I bought it at once. I removed the mesh strap and switched it for a brown leather one.

I like how he gives so much respect to an obviously cheap watch (wearing white gloves when checking the case) and DW!
1:07 is it just me or does anyone else get a blank screen and then some extremely blurry footage?
Nice vid and cool watch.. however I prefer the F-91 due to its more sporty looks.. in my opinion this new A700 lacks the character the F-91 has. Congrats on the 20K subs, keep up the good work!:)
of course, the A700 doesn't pretend to seem like F-91, the A700 is a tribute to SA-410 a legendary watch that did to Casio win the good design award in 1982, it's another line, it's another history, is for another segment of the market
Why not have them both? Wear one on one day and change out the next as many Casio collectors do.
Id like to see something like this as milspec
dark case, NATO or ZULU strap so it can be worn outside the jacket or smok
and importantly a lume background so you dont have to hold the light on, it could even recharge its own lume
i just got this watch as my first casio and im in love with this
Had you re editted this video ...I watched this video of your channel a year ago or so ....the Amazon page section is not blurred out .......
Why?
Yeah, finally this video is out! I'm wearing it now, totally love it! This watch is an Ice cold for me, really love that 80s squarish retro design.
Whats your wrist size? Would it fit a 6 inch wrist?
Devang Desai mine is around 6 and a half inch so definitely will fit for your wrist
Casio are great. Very affordable and just near perfect for anybody. Those models are so sturdy, I still have my grandfather's f91 and still going strong. I might give it to my grandchildren if I ever get one
If you are giving it to your grandchildren, you better start working on them now. LOL
Wow! Until today I never would have considered buying a digital watch. This has really turned my head.
Ice Cold
Thank you for the comment on the bracelet. Was precisely wondering about it, if in slender wrists the long bracelet would work out alright.
Buy a used vintage A158, take the band off and put it on the A700. I did it and it feels and looks great.
Ice cold for sure. Loving that bracelet!!!
I've got this very same Casio watch. Just beautiful, love it and usually wear it for work...it feels casual but sophisticated
The thinnest watch I ever had was in 1986 by a company called “ Lorimar “, I think it was called that. Was black and solar powered. It literally was about 1.5mm thick
I find 1.5mm extremely hard to believe
I was about to buy a Casio F-91W then I decided to see what other watches Casio makes, which are similar to that watch yet ... more to my liking. Found this video and wow... love at first sight! Bought it.
Glad you did this one Ben. Have been looking at this one for awhile now and may still get one
I've recently bought the version of this watch with the stainless steel strap, it's a really great looking thin watch with a bright, clear LCD.
Folks, I just bought a piece today. It's a perfect, slim watch, with beautiful, shiny metal.
Styled like high end Japanese 1980s HiFi separates. Cool.
Can imagine it in 80s 007.
I think what makes this A700 so presentable sort of an art work is the light colors of the dial which matches the color and the patern of the bracelet. I had seen other A700's before, none of them had cought my eye but this one. thank you for bringing out
A168 fetishist here!. They're my link to my school years. Sad, I know, but hey!...
i just started to have this casio journey, my brother gave me a ga2100 (full black) as birhtday present. really love it and i bought the "futur" collabs to switch on daily wear
and after saw this video, i might gonna order this one too. thanks for the video, really help me find out about this watch
Just imagine this in black 🖤🖤
As long it doesnt come off easily like scraped, scratchs. Yes
Hell yes!
Yes SKMEI do a clone version now in black
I'm searching it in rosé
I bought this watch after watching your review. It's a sleek little thing and makes my G-Shocks look like trucks! Mine came in a beautiful black-and-gold metal case stating 'vintage collection' on the outside. I paid around $65 on Amazon and think it's a fine buy. Thanks for your review! PS--love the slinky band, I can remember paying nearly $100 for one looking this from Italy, in the seventies-
Absolutely love this watch. I've got it on the standard bracelet.
I just got the gold/black a700 and already love it. The B640 is of equal quality.
Casio specifies: "Case / bezel material: Resin"
So, what i'm concerned about is - will the finish start to come off after a couple of months of use, like it happens with some F-91W variants?
i mean it SCRATCHES quite easily, but the chrome finish hasn't come off at all after 5 months of use
as an update to what I wrote 7 months ago. It's been a year now, and I've been wearing the watch almost regularly, the only places where the finish started to come off a bit is the inner area of the lugs. But otherwise pretty solid.
@@danilakisliak8954 thanks for the comment. It's something that bothers me with these resin case Casios
Thank you for the review! Just got mine today :) Absolutely fabulous!
The downside is only three pushers. I really like having a fourth pusher just for adjustment.
Thanks so much for the recommendation. It's probably my favorite all around in my collection. It's simple, feels solid, elegant, so so small. It can be dressed up or down, good basic additional features, good light. not much else to say, great watch.
This Casio is almost $90 on Amazon now... supply and demand I guess lol
In Europe it's still just 35,89€ (~42$)
@@fabianweber6937 f91w supremacy
Shit more expensive than dw5600 lol
@@fabianweber6937 €20,- at the moment.
As someone who owns A158WEA, A700WEM-7A, F-91W, GW-B5600BC, Citizen Eco-Drive BM8180 *and* Seiko SNK809 - all are great watches - I'd like to point out that A700WEM is my favorite of them so far.
If, for some reason, I was allowed to only have one timepiece, it would surely be GW-5600BC, but if I could have three, they would be GW-5600BC, SNK809 and this.
what you don't like about the Citizen? it is much more accurate than the casio and seiko from your list.
this watch looks nice.. the classic casio package in a slightly moderniced case, that, just.. cool. but the steal-case argument is a good argument. so im waiting, till the a1000 line drops in price (100 € are to much for a basic digital casio, even in stainless steel), and then i will grab one of those
Came here after watching your second video about this watch.
Even this timepiece text me back to my middle school days. Great review thank you.
TH-cam keeps recommending your videos, which are amazing! 👏🏾😌 Really good work!
But this isn't safe for my wallet or financial stability 🤣 two watches are enough in my drawer
Glad you like them!
It’s a Casio 🤦🏻
One analogue, one digital that’s all I need. Yet it is so hard not to be tempted to buy every watch he shows 😂
@@GustapoGomez so? Spending on too many watches is still bad
you're arab so you must be rich LOL, Just hidding "ya habibi"
Bought recently the black dial variant £28 n wow Ben this a true vintage casio i love it and have a 7.5 wrist n looks good compared to me F-91w ... they would sell thousands if made it out of stainless steel casing and sapphire glass maybe...
This is something we were all hoping for. Awesome legibility, great backlight, subdued function advertising, plus now a mesh strap. The better A158
Now please tell Casio to make a black resin case and band version of this watch 😅
And PLEASE work on the pricing 🤦♂️
It’s over $50 here in india.
Probably this is the nicest digital watch of Casio, is a tribute watch to SA-410 especially the model A700W, by the way, the SA-410 did to Casio win the good design award in 1982, maybe this is the reason for his great design, it's in his DNA
Ben, this is easily Ice cold! A classic Casio hit! How do they do it, again!
ben whats the difference with the A700W-1ACF and the A700W-1A?
Actually looks really good on the mesh strap, very nice alternative
Why are all the Amazon screen recordings blurred?
I paid more than 30quid when this released,
Non boxed, came in a very nice velvet suede pouch.
The milanese strap gives it a nice dress look.
Love this watch! Awesome review bud!
Subbed!
ICE COLD For SURE! Thanks bud for your beautiful work.
