This watch has the heart of a lion. I bought it back in 1989, when I started my basic training in the U.S. Army. It survived everything we threw at it. The horrible humidity of New Jersey, the sand, water, mud, and of course, non-stop action in the direst of conditions in turning me into a real, badass soldier. The Casio laughed at all that and got me through basic training easy. It survived for several years during my Army tour of duty. The straps, after being tortured by sweat, grime and all the elements from cold to extreme heat and endless hours of physical training finally went out. But the watch itself never did. I wore that thing until it could not be worn no more. It is the Toyota of watches. It may not be attractive, but it will never let you down. And that is a beauty all of its own.
Good thing I bought this watch for my go at basic training. I was going to get the g-shock, but I wanted something that wouldn’t make me stick out From the other recruits and this one fits the bill.

I used to be quite snobby when it came to digital watches, but over the past few years I’ve grown to appreciate them for what they are. The Casio definitely is the most cost effective watch you can buy.
Digital watches really have a seperate world than analog ones. You can feel it when you wear it for a while. On digital ones you can tell the time immediately.
SKMEI 1123 or CASIO B640, of which the former is a homage. SKMEI has a better backlight (although the CASIO at least has two LED lights so it's usable). CASIO has more water resistance and a countdown timer, which the SKMEI lacks. SKMEI is about half the price of the CASIO and both have equally good metal bands and build quality.
This was my first watch when i was probably 10 years old. My father brought it from Dubai and i had worn it more than 7 years or so and will buy a new one soon. Love Casio
I had this watch on my wrist without removing or changing the battery for 5 years. I had to remove it because of skin infection for non-removing for longer time. this is truly legend. HATS OFF.
This watch saved my life when I was a kid. I tripped and broke a glass with my left arm, and the glass shards would have cut through my radial artery if it wasn't for this watch... Unfortunately i lost it in this incident, while rushed to the hospital.
I used one for 20 years straight. My father gave to me when I was 12 years old, and I took it off when I was 32 years old because the screen became too dim, too faded and it was becoming hard to see the hours. I can guarantee it's crazy water resistant, you can swim all day long using it how many times you want. I had some scratches in it from my teenage years. I never used another clock, since now we have clocks everywhere we go, but if I was to buy another one it would have to be this one.
After field testing it, rather literally, I thought I would share a few remarks about this watch for potential buyers. 1. Looses about 1 second per month 2. It is more water-resistant than marketed. Wore it for swimming, multiple showers, hand washing and general water involved work. There are also records of it being used in Scuba diving, and examples on this can be found here on TH-cam 3. Very lightweight, low-key, and durable. There are multiple destruction videos of this watch on TH-cam, and they all showcase the same thing: it´s tough! 4. Offers alot of functionality for the pricepoint. 5. In hot climates, there might develop a bit of sweat underneath the stainless steel back and your wrist which gets trapped, and can cause some discomfort and annoyance. Remove the watch, rub off the sweat, and put it back on.
FPAS Spekk you sure about that one second per month? I have an f91w as well and it's more like one second per day. but it's still a great watch for the price
@@eeyyaakk6801 Could be minutes, my bad. Also heard different numbers from different people, so there might be some inconsistencies with each individual watch. Regardless, amazing watch and something I cannot recommend enough. A usual complaint is the backlight, and that there is a more premium version with a better backlight. My take on this is that it is completely irrelevant to the function of the watch, as the backlight in the F91W works just fine for its intended purpose. Those words also reflect the watch very well; it´s just fine!
Probably the most iconic watch of all time. Many people started wearing watches with this one. Do you know any other product which is so good at what it does (keeping time), which is so reliable and still extremely cheap? Entire World can have precise and reliable time on their wrists. Even people from poorest regions of the World. Now that's a revolution! More significant than first watch in space or on the Moon. Hats off to Casio for not rising prices and making it "more exclusive". Such a cool company.
After decades of not wearing a watch, I've decided to get back into them. I've been looking at high end stuff and I was getting sucked in to the hype but I realised the F91W is the best watch in the world. It's way cooler than any Rolex.
Thank you for this video! I realize this was the watch I used my entire 2 years in the army. I tied it to my combat webbing every time we went out, and the strap eventually broke after all the abuse we were put through. But this was an absolutely brilliant watch, and so comfortable to wear.
No, they are not. You're still not exclusively just watching leftist political pseudo news and commentary propaganda channels. Odds are if you watched this video many more of your unbiased poltical feeds will be replaced with more unrelated videos while your leftist biased ones will keep showing up as they did or even start do ign more repeat recommending even after you watched them.
I got mine in the 90's but lost it in the house until a year ago. I was shocked when I saw that it is still working without the batterie ever changed in all the years. And what is even more unbelievable is that the time and date is still right. The only thing is that the wrist band is broken on one side, so I ordered a new set to replace it, hope it comes in the next few days. But all in all a really good watch.
The F91w is my daily wearer primarily because it is so thin and light. I have lots of bigger and far more expensive watches but I consistently reach for this one.
It's been 4 years I have this watch. I went deep diving (40 m=4 atm) without dive computer and it survived (not to mention other many recreation dive in salt/sea water). It safes me by counting the minutes when I was in certain depth. The thin design makes it easier when I put on my wetsuit. The straps were broken and I forget where I keep the watch but I can still hear the alarm beeping every morning in my studio. 😅
the thing I really like about Casio? they make buying watches fun. most of their models offer variety. the silver variant of this and the W217H which has an inverted display are my faves. I'm set for the rest of my life lol
yeahh, and they range from dirty cheap to hella expensive. The variety and stylishness, price and how they look and feel when wearing is just what brings me to them.
When i was sixteen years old my parents gave me Casio F-91W and it was working 13 years on one battery. Now i am 34 years old and i have this watch and i hope it will be working for me long good time.
I just bought a random watch the other day so I can wear at work and not worry about scratching my cell phone etc. It was the only small digital watch in the shop which wasn't one of those biffy watches, so I bought it. It was the w-59, same watch as f-91w but with slightest bigger buttons. Today TH-cam randomly recommends this video and saw it in the thumbnail. I don't even watch similar channels! This may be the best purchase I made for 20 euros.
I had the calculator watch variant when I was a kid I remember being so happy when my dad bought it for me as a birthday gift. I still had it a few years ago until it was lost :(
Always seen these, for some reason have never owned one. Watching made me realise theres no reason I shouldn't of after all these years. Jumped on the affiliate link and picked one up. Thanks for the review
I'm Japanese and I really enjoyed your video ! many Japanese people are forgetting the beauty of Casio and buy luxury watches of other country! I will buy this one 😁😂
Damn I wear this when I was a kid in the 90s. I remember it was a gift from my uncle. It's so durable I never took it off my left wrist. The battery can last for years. Shit that is some good ol days.
I remember in 9th grade when I saved for almost an entire year to buy one of these watches, I was so proud of it. But 2 years later, somebody showed me that the one I had was a fake one and he had a real watch. One of the biggest blunders of my life.
I own a GWM-5610 G-Shock, it has a higher quality strap, an atomic clock that’s always accurate and never needs to be set, solar battery that will last a long time, an automatic backlight. And it’s a G-Shock, the thing can go through hell and still display the time. Yet I find myself wearing the F-91w way more than my G-Shock. This watch is not just a simple bit of nostalgia or a piece of plastic with numbers on it, it’s an icon. I knock it against the wall while working, ding it up against the table constantly, and all it has after several months is a few small scratches after being banged on metal all the time. Put a bit of polywatch on there and it looks almost new besides the scratches on the strap. I work as a dishwasher and had my coworker once look at me like a madman when I put a bit of dawn dish soap on it and wash it. This thing gets soaked at my job and all I do is just wipe it down if it gets too wet, if it can withstand the power of a restaurant dish sprayer, I think it can stand a bit of swimming or a shower. Casio is the undisputed goat of watches. Like someone else said they may not look the best but they are way more practical and will get the job done way better than those fancy watches will, especially G-Shocks. I wish my G-Shock could be the size of the F-91w because that would be the perfect watch. All those features combined with the comfort of the F-91w, plus it won’t interfere with long sleeves really at all which is an issue with the G-Shock, plus it doesn’t stay on one place on my wrist which gets annoying. Buy it. I think it might actually be the best watch I’ve ever owned or at least Top 3.
Got one of these for my 11th birthday in 1990. It never skipped a beat and I never had to replace the battery. Only lost my F-91W in 1998 because the band was damaged and I forgot to take it off before going tubing behind a speed boat. Awesome little thing probably kept time early into the 21st Century from the bottom of the lake that became it's home.
I've been wearing these watches since i was 8 years old, im 39 now... started wearing the A168 years ago because the backlight on the F91W is useless but having watched this vid im tempted to get another!
The review was overall right on the money, still I like to add a few points. While one may find similarly low priced watches in the market, if he is looking, the Casio F-91W is a branded quality watch, which is famous for its longevity and reliability. Also it's a unique design, with an in-house movement. Upon inspection of the watch, one admires its honest build, which is rare this day. It uses every square millimeters inside, to accommodate an oversized battery, without charging extra for it, beside the larger than usual movement. That is also rare. For comparison sake, let's take a typical low priced 'fashion watch' which may look good on the outside, but it doesn't deliver. The watch and the case designers usually put a tiny Myota movement in, with the help of plastic spacers, to fill the emptiness inside. This tiny movement obviously has an even tinier battery inside, which in my experience won't last much longer than a year.
I still have this watch, it is still working perfectly after so many years. That was my second watch actually. Casio f-16 was my 1st watch, which was lower model without back light, date & day.
Props to Japanese reliability of Casio company. It is a great product 30 years (from 1989) and it is simply a very practical watch for every occasion. I prefer it for running as you can hold your record time and it is lightweight.
Honestly the reason why they sell 34 million a year still is, practicality and affordability. Just bought my first and shit! I love the thing. Great review!
I had my first Casio F-91W when I was 12 years old. I'm now 28 and its still working to this day. I don't wear it very often now but I wore it all through school and some of my early 20s. I still have it now and will always keep it despite having newer watches since.
Do you mean the W217H perhaps? It is thicker and rated to 50m waterproof. Most also have a gold ring rather than a blue. The strap is also significantly longer to suit larger wrists.
It has ha permanent place in my collection and i wear it as frequently as my most expensive watches that cost around 2000 to 4000 dollars. Absolutely love this piece
My absolute favourite watch was a Casio, it had both Analogue and digital time with the clock face being the colour of a classic LCD display, the analogue time was displayed through physical hands and the digital time was displayed by an LCD display that overlayed over the hands (I personally had the digital display show the date over the hands which showed the time) I wish I still had that watch 😪
This is the watch we were encouraged to buy during basic training. Never really took it off cause you don't notice it like he said. Currently wearing it now and after showering with it twice daily and getting down in the dirt it still looks good and works like it should. By the way as far as the light goes you can see the time in complete darkness, just not very well.
All the watches I've had ever since elementary school was Casios. Using a smartwatch now for the extra functions but Casio will always have a special place in my heart. You make me wanna buy one again!
The best timepiece ever. It tells time. I'm a practical man, I prefer function over form, I've bought one idk how many years ago, all I know is that I've replaced it's battery twice and it's still going. It's been my alarm clock when camping, it's been my chronograph when working out, and it's been telling me time. All I could ask from a watch.
Ah, from a time when a watch didn't need to be put on charge every night, and wasn't busy tracking your every move, and telling you when to get up, sit down, sleep, eat, sh!t, rinse, repeat.
I just received mine today and it’s awesome. Sick of having to charge my android smart watch every night and not being able to see the time in direct sunlight

He smiled and replied "boy, honestly, I don't know how many years that clock it's inside that showcase and it has always worked, I think it can be enough as a guarantee" 😅😅😅😅 damn fcuk, he killed me 😅😅😅
I was an early adopter with smart watches, starting with the Pebble and moving on from there, but I wore a watch almost my whole life. I went back to a Casio at the end of last year. Just having something that tells the time at a glance without any effort or charging or button-presses was something I missed. (I also work in animal care so something I can just constantly sanitize without issue is wonderful).
Thank you for this review, got my first Casio in this style over 40 years ago, I now have the F91W that cost just under a tenner and love it to bits, it is the perfect unisex watch and so reliable.

Digital watches really have a seperate world than analog ones. You can feel it when you wear it for a while. On digital ones you can tell the time immediately.
There's an honesty about them
SKMEI 1123 or CASIO B640, of which the former is a homage.
SKMEI has a better backlight (although the CASIO at least has two LED lights so it's usable). CASIO has more water resistance and a countdown timer, which the SKMEI lacks. SKMEI is about half the price of the CASIO and both have equally good metal bands and build quality.
@@Mindplay591
Are you telling me that you cannot with a conventional analogue watch or clock?
I think that the retro look of this watch is actually kinda stylish. It's a loveletter to the 80s while still being tasteful.
can it really be called a love letter to the 80s when it's actually from the 80s?
@@onometre it cannot
I like old watches, it just means that the style has stood the test of time, like the casio.
Thank you for saying this. I agree.
In person it really looks like a kid's watch, it's even tiny.
HATS OFF.
TFW your watch lasts longer than your own skin.
so u wore a watch for 5yrs straight without removing ?😮
This watch saved my life when I was a kid. I tripped and broke a glass with my left arm, and the glass shards would have cut through my radial artery if it wasn't for this watch... Unfortunately i lost it in this incident, while rushed to the hospital.
Probably the best $10 spent you ever had
The watch is still probably where you lost it, alive and still functioning lmao...or maybe someone snatched it already
@@machigiceb7788 till this day
@Rahul Gaikwad Why do you have to mention where you are from? It is quite cringe.
1. Looses about 1 second per month
2. It is more water-resistant than marketed. Wore it for swimming, multiple showers, hand washing and general water involved work. There are also records of it being used in Scuba diving, and examples on this can be found here on TH-cam
You forgot steel one can also be used for shaving your arm
My F 91w loses 1 second... per year! WTF
Laynus Socas Torres it is 15 s per month more or less. At least the one I have.
Man has never been to the Moon.
I remember having this watch as a kid. The battery lasted maybe 10 years, that was incredible
MVMT and Vincero would say this watch is garbage.
#thingsgarbagewatchmakerssay
MVMT and Vincero would say Rolex is garbage
@Selim Sultan Akbar Beyond stupid , possibly insane.
The F-91W alone has more heritage than those two brands combined.
I bought one of these to time my runs. I now wear it everyday.A classic.
It's almost like a military-issued item when I was serving lol.
@The Genius jeez dude, have some positivity in your head.
There, youtube, I finally saw the video. Are you happy now?
It'll be recommended in a few weeks time.
The real question is, are you?
No, they are not. You're still not exclusively just watching leftist political pseudo news and commentary propaganda channels.
Odds are if you watched this video many more of your unbiased poltical feeds will be replaced with more unrelated videos while your leftist biased ones will keep showing up as they did or even start do ign more repeat recommending even after you watched them.
Make sure you watch the whole video at least a couple times each week.
But all in all a really good watch.
strap arrived ??😂whats the current condition of the watch...still working fine?
The F91w is my daily wearer primarily because it is so thin and light. I have lots of bigger and far more expensive watches but I consistently reach for this one.
update.I now wear the Casio w59..you can swim and leave it on..amen
This lad successfully convinced me to buy a watch which I was never planning to buy XD
Ditto :-)
It's been 4 years I have this watch. I went deep diving (40 m=4 atm) without dive computer and it survived (not to mention other many recreation dive in salt/sea water). It safes me by counting the minutes when I was in certain depth.
The thin design makes it easier when I put on my wetsuit.
The straps were broken and I forget where I keep the watch but I can still hear the alarm beeping every morning in my studio. 😅
Hands down the greatest watch ever made. Looks fantastic, functions as it should, the perfect price.
And even Bin Laden loved it!
I love this watch. I bought it at the Post Exchange at Fort Jackson, SC for $9.99. I wore it all through drill sergeant school.
the thing I really like about Casio? they make buying watches fun. most of their models offer variety. the silver variant of this and the W217H which has an inverted display are my faves. I'm set for the rest of my life lol
yeahh, and they range from dirty cheap to hella expensive. The variety and stylishness, price and how they look and feel when wearing is just what brings me to them.
I wish there were more ads around cheap + high quality stuff like this.

When i was sixteen years old my parents gave me Casio F-91W and it was working 13 years on one battery. Now i am 34 years old and i have this watch and i hope it will be working for me long good time.
I'm a proud owner of this masterpiece of a watch.
I still had it a few years ago until it was lost :(
I have an original db100 with the dot matrix scrolling display and katakana symbols!
You can still buy it, the basic one cost $20(Casio CA53W)
and the top of the line one cost $60(Casio Databank DBC-611)
I had one too , with blue buttons.
It no longer works, but I still have it
Always seen these, for some reason have never owned one.
Watching made me realise theres no reason I shouldn't of after all these years.
Jumped on the affiliate link and picked one up. Thanks for the review
Thanks for supporting the channel John!
@@BenArthur Np, I appreciate the good content, going to just pick up the metal one as well, only £20 so it's not much at all

I'm Japanese and I really enjoyed your video ! many Japanese people are forgetting the beauty of Casio and buy luxury watches of other country! I will buy this one 😁😂
Just got mine today after wanting one for years. Love it! Bit smaller than I expected though.
its a classic, completely humble bit of tech that will last longer than anything else made/designed today wouldn't wear anything else
The strap lasts about 6 months
Damn I wear this when I was a kid in the 90s. I remember it was a gift from my uncle. It's so durable I never took it off my left wrist. The battery can last for years. Shit that is some good ol days.
I remember in 9th grade when I saved for almost an entire year to buy one of these watches, I was so proud of it.
But 2 years later, somebody showed me that the one I had was a fake one and he had a real watch. One of the biggest blunders of my life.
That's extremely sad
Another commenter on this discussion noted that the "CASIo" trick was added later, so early versions of real watches might have lacked it.
It took you a year to save up 10 dollars?
Ben Harowitz ennit 😂
Just earned my first salary and bought this! So happy!!!
I had one in the '80. I've been running every day and I was so proud of my watch.
I had a similar watch back in the 80s as a kid. It had absolutely everything I need.
Just bought one this week and haven't left my wrist. Lovin' it.
I've been wearing these watches since i was 8 years old, im 39 now... started wearing the A168 years ago because the backlight on the F91W is useless but having watched this vid im tempted to get another!
You want the F-105. That's the electroluminescent version of the F-91.
Get it. I just got mine in the mail
AFFORDABLE LUXURY
This tiny movement obviously has an even tinier battery inside, which in my experience won't last much longer than a year.
there is no movement theres a microcontroller inside its digital
I still have this watch, it is still working perfectly after so many years. That was my second watch actually. Casio f-16 was my 1st watch, which was lower model without back light, date & day.
The stopwatch feature is honestly amazing. So useful when cooking, training, anything.
But no timer?
@@user2C47 no timer yes but I use the alarm as the substitute for it. You can try it too!
@@DhafinFausta same! I use alarm as a substitute as well! It works just as well!
Casio F91W is an excellent example on the longevity of Japanese technology.
I still have this watch and still wearing it even when my friends and relatives told me to change it
@ariyan got music no i like this one it's was my first watch so i got attached to it

I am a 34 year old woman... and i just bought myself the A168.... so nostalgic! I love it!
I got the casio illuminator. Similar design but slightly different color. Only major difference is it has better screen light.
Do you mean the W217H perhaps? It is thicker and rated to 50m waterproof. Most also have a gold ring rather than a blue. The strap is also significantly longer to suit larger wrists.

Your review has made me order one as I watched it. It's truly a digital legend
It has ha permanent place in my collection and i wear it as frequently as my most expensive watches that cost around 2000 to 4000 dollars. Absolutely love this piece

They could use any digital movement for the job. This just happens to be cheap and reliable.
You shouldn't shower with it its water resistant not waterproof
I grew up with this watch on my wrist as a kid. I have the stainless steel version as an adult. It's my daily work watch. Love this watch!
All the watches I've had ever since elementary school was Casios. Using a smartwatch now for the extra functions but Casio will always have a special place in my heart. You make me wanna buy one again!
This model is the watch that nearly every young man in the army of Finland knows! ;)
@The Genius In the military you need to know the time. Casio has alarm and backlight and it is durable and cheap if you lose it in the forest
I wore this through boot camp! Absolute tank
You seemed to skip over the F-105W, which has the EL backlight of the A168W, but in a resin case like the F-91W.

Had this watch when I was 7 or something, now 31, ordered one for every day at work. This watch brings me back memories...
