I’m having really good luck at CNB’s. Only kill deadly or elite NPC’s. Do it without an NPC fighter on your side and not in a wing. 100% solo in solo play. It’s about a percentage point every 40 minutes or so from deadly to elite. I will be doing this for another 6 weeks so, if anyone wants to know where I am and what my routine is, let me know.

Overall good video, but you missed two things that might make things clearer: 1) your build is ok, but you did not mention that the reason to stack pure hull HP is that thargoids ignore all normal resistances. Some people stubbornly stack resistances and die because of it. 2) In is easier to find AX CZs using the system state filter for Incursion. AX CZs only appear in incursions, but stations continue to burn for some time after it has been cleared.

And actually, I can't find anything in incursion state either. Is it cyclical? Are there just no Thargoids attacking right now?

Thanks for the video. This and the build video inspired me to build a scout killer. I just finished going around getting all the parts and unlocked all the engineers which was time consuming but a lot of fun. There is one problem however and that is that there are no scouts to kill at this time. I've searched every system using the filters and there are no damaged starports or systems in an incursion state.
Aeterpe, loads of them, but killing those things with gauss is a pain, maybe AX multicannons are better

Already been doing this in a python outfitted exactly for this purpose thanks to CMDR exegious’s video way back before the ch4 update. Two guass and ax multi’s work very well.

Thanks for this and the live video of you ranking up. I've not played ED since the launch of 3.0 and this has given me the enthusiasm to fire the game up again. started at 49%Deadly and already up to 60% in no time... and enjoying the grind.
One question tho, would meta alloy hull reinforcement be better than standard? I know the hp are lower, but does it help with the caustic damage as this seems far worse than any other damage from the scouts?

@@noahpennington6173 Been hyperdicted, they won't harm you unless you have Guardian or Thargoid stuff in your cargo hold, and even at that they give you a 25 second grace period to drop it before they open fire. Other than that, except for Scouts, they won't aggro you unless you get up in their face or aggro them first.
I'm married to one, she's kinda cute and does the cooking and cleaning at the same time with all those arms :)

I'm curious to know the core and optional internals of the Krait build you used.
If anyone wants to do this, but cant find a damaged station, get your best jump range ship and taxi out to Asterope. Go to the station and transfer your anti thargoid ship over. Take it out and look for threat 4 non human signal sources (scan the nav beacon). They mostly contain 4 thargoid scouts, which you can take on without having to fear them that much. Engineering your ship isnt necessary but helps. A supercruise assist can help but isnt necessary. Leave your ship there an dcome back when you want to do more grinding

I haven't seen damaged ports on the map in a while, repairing yes, but not in a "damaged" state.
I'm going to use the Codex and Discovery Scanner mode to try to find Scouts. Less efficient, sure. But it's the best updated solution I have. I think a "Nonhuman" threat level 4 or below is Scouts.
I find that i have to kill 2 - 3 scouts just to gain 1% of combat rank, it seems insane just to get a combat rank when mining and exploring ranks can be maxed with 1/100th of the effort.
Hey @downtoearthasteonomy do you suggest i use a krait mk 2 or a chieftain for this with all the new axi modules that came out in 2k23 ?
Just got into this game and it is fun but the only thing I can figure out how to properly do is currier missions. This will help me as I'm new but I don't think a new player with a weak ship will be able to fight those things without dying. Any tips on how I find a better ship more built for combat I don't know how to buy better ships or where to go to find better ships.

With the departure of the targys, is the compromised nav beacon still the best option?
9:15 you can also just log out to main menu and back in. With the amount of hull strength you have, they won't be able to kill you in 15 seconds.

I tried this the other night with turret multi cannons and missiles. I don't think the missiles are particularly good (maybe that's down to me). I tried on fire at will, target and ahead. I didn't see any difference. I swapped them out for MCs. The hunting was good. Thank you for the vid!
Yes, the AX missiles are absolutely dreadful. To be honest, so are the MCs. The real good stuff is the guardian weaponry. But this was 2 years ago, I doubt you care for this information. Oh and by the way, a new disease called the 'Coronavirus' or 'Covid-19' will sweep the world in about a year.
Hello, Quick question: what model do you have 'turret weapon mode' set to? I have problems getting AX turreted weapons to target the Thargoid scouts, in that they don't.

*AX and guardian* weapons are always fixed, "turreted" is only for multicrew mode for these weapons.
I set them to target only. They dont start automation so you have to bind them to a fire group, once they are started on a target they will keep shooting

I am a brand new player (2 weeks) and wanted to work on my combat rank. So I worked my butt off getting the Krait and setting it up for scouts. I was getting ready to go and mentioned it in chat. Then ...everyone said that the Thargoids had been nerfed and I have to do it another way. If that's true, is there a good way to increase my rank? I do have a good "regular" combat build. (NOTE: I do not do ground)

Just fully maxed my Type-10 for Xeno hunting. Sadly, its not engineered... for now.
I consider this a fairly good method for ranking up my fighter pilots as well.
Cobra Mk III to rank-up using Wanted NPCs i see often? Or not enough fire power or risk to reputation? (Seems to take forever to kill a Novice NPC)

I think the best gaming chair is not actually a chinese made foam + vinyl gaming chair, but a *Herman Miller Aeron* chair...
Don't run when interceptors are "incoming". Sometimes they don't show up and it's just wave after wave of scouts. To avoid getting killed by the interceptors, boost once away with FA off, flip around and try and find the interceptors. In FA off you maintain your momentum so even if you do get shut down you should be booking away at max speed. If one does not show up you are in the clear and it should be just scouts for a long time. If one does appear it should be pretty far away at this point and you can just jump into super cruse then re-enter the same AX Conflict Zone. At most I only had to do this a couple times to trigger the endless scout AX zone. One last thing, throw on a long range beam laser or some kind of energy weapon so you can tag the scouts getting pounded on by the NPC fleet even at distance without wasting ammo. I was saving my ammo for regernerators alone and was still running myself dry.
How do you cope to rise armor to 5000 on Krait?
When will damaged stations come back. My maps not showing any so I can’t farm combat rank or fed rank with rescues since they are gone.

Get it last, or at least after Trade Elite. Otherwise you get no end of Elite NPC pilots trying to interdict you...
work with the space police, just go to a ring planet in a sidewinder make sure its low or medium if you feeling brave wait for space police to attack a pirate now shoot the pirate a couple of times if you only shoot a couple of times he wont be that intrested him you hes got bigger fish to fry when you get abit money together replace one pulse laser with a multicannon then you got one pulse for knocking down the shields and one multicannon for damage, when you got enough credits buy a viper mk3 i prefer viper to all smaller ships its easier to manage than vulture or ferdelance and packs a punch.
Januari 2020 new thargoid attack: i have looked all over the pleiades but can not find any ax conflict zone. Have these been renamed?
Currently the only sources for thargoid attacks are NHSSs (non human signal sources)

What happens if you try to fight thargoids with a combat ready Corvette but corvette only has normal engineered weapons like Beam lasers and multicannons?
Thargoids are immune to normal weapons. They only take damage from AX or Guardian weapons (except from the Scouts).
Thats where the developers of elite dangerous went wrong imo. Personally I don't want to change the entire loadout and re-engineer everything on my main combat ship just to be able to fight the thargoids. Thanks for the reply.
AX and Guardian weapons can't be engineered so you don't need to worry about that. You just need to engineer your loadout for max hull and shield strength. Thargoid attacks do absolute damage which couldn't care less about resistances.
If you don't have AX/Guardian weapons, then you are stuck only being able to fight Scouts. You can't engineer either weapons so just get what you need. AX is pretty readily available in many stations, Guardian stuff can be a bit of a grind.
I actually tangled with some scouts before unintentionally, using my back then un-engineered Anaconda fitted with only regular Multi Cannons...t'was fun taking them out until the Interceptor showed up and I barely made it out alive by boosting away then high-waking it out of the system.
Damn i managed it very hardly last month from thargoids scout in ax cz to pirate activity was very hard by the way killing a cyclops should really be more rewarding its not a walk in park.thanks anyway..
So this is gonna sound really noobish, but..... I was trying to figure out why my AX Cannons were not firing, JUST TOTALLY NOT FIRING ..... Have I been using Fire at Will turret mode all my life?!? omg, I painfully found out after lots of searching that I have to change my Turret mode !?!? So...where do you get the special weapons from?
AX (not Guardian) weapons are everywhere - use eddb.io to find your nearest station with them. Guardian Gauss weapons are first unlocked at a tech brokers. I believe you can buy them in a very small number of places like Shinrarta once you've done the unlock, but not sure as I've not yet done the unlock for the weapons, but for the modules I've unlocked, I can buy them here or there.

Yep, still viable.There is a constant presence of thargoids over in the pleiades nebula and witchhead nebula. I'm currently in the pleiades nebula doing mostly NHSS level 3-4(Only scouts appear in them).
Can't say how thargoid activity is in the witchhead though, its been months i've been there.

@@TrangleC there are no more incursion state systems (for now) so you won't find the AX conflict zones that he shows in the video but you can still find them in signal sources

Hunting signal sources is such a unreliable mess, that it is not worth it.
What am I supposed to do? Fly around in a ship specialized for Thargoid hunting all the time, in the hopes to randomly stumble over a Thargoid signal source somewhere? Or do my normal business in other ships until I stumble over the signal and then get my Krait Thargoid hunter ship from 300 LY away and hope the signal is still there when I'm back?
That is not an option, even if those signal sources were relatively easy to find.
Ergo, this doesn't work at all anymore and I wasted my resources and time on that ship.

I replaced the size 4 optional internal with a 4A fuel scoop because you typically have to travel a few LY to find any thargoids... Still, my build has around 4,700 hitpoints.

So I just spent 150m kitting out my ship, erm, where are all the Thargoids at? They some kind of event that only happens at certain times? Great, would of been nice to of known this first... lol
Head over to a system called Maia, it's in the nebula and sector known as Pleiades. You should be able to find signal sources that say "Non-human" and their threat levels. You can also filter out systems on the galaxy map based by civilization, so you can mark Thargoid only systems. You can also follow the news in-game which give info about Thargoid attacks and presence.

@ Charbonnet, I achieved Mining/ trading Elite in 1 week from downloading the game. I have 1B in bank and can afford any ship any module. Definitely grind out the trading elite rank. Once you have 1Billion you automatically achieve the Jameson memorial permit. They have all ships and most modules.
Any time I want / need more credits I just do a couple loads of low temp diamonds in the python with 3 64 slot cargo containers. That’s a minimum 200 - 300 million credit per load run. (Also easier to do in solo).
The system has to be in incursion state.

Just to rub salt in it .... I’ve just traveled 32 jumps there and 32 jumps back from the Pleiades nebular. It took that long to get there the incursion zone status had disappeared.guess what no Thargoids there now either.
Everyone's in a rush to get to the Elite or Triple Elite, you don't have to hunt for Thargoid Ships, just choose Assassinations missions who are Elite or Dangerous, enjoy the game as it is and enjoy the experience
Killing scavangers at the Thargoid crashed mothership is much much much quicker.
@JT Collett Loads, they on fdev forums or reddit. Use a Vulture, size 3 dumb fires, fly 25 meters above the ground. There are 4 spawns of 6 scavengers each spawn. You fly around in a circle killing each set that spawns. The other method is sit above one spawn in the right spot and they keep spawning after 5 secs. So thats 24 kills in 20secs. Works out about 1% at deadly every few minutes. Take lots of Synth for your missiles.

Same. I went from Penniless to Tycoon in a few days back in 2.1 before the big Sothis/Ceos LHT nerf. Never found a good solid way to rank up Trade since.

For me it was passenger missions.
Get the biggest ship with the most 1st class (used to be economy only, but it seems to have shifted more towards business and 1st class, for me anyways) cabins you can afford. Find a pocket of systems that have far out stations and stick to it, making those passenger run missions. At first you start as neutral, cordial working yourself up to friendly or even ally. Passenger missions and maybe some data missions sprinkled in for some Fed/Imp rank grind.
You'll be surprised on just how much credits you can make too doing passenger missions...and yes, even after the nerf, not as much but still very good for $$ and trade rank!

@@sinkpissersupreme actually despite this it is much better since pre- Beyond when I tired it again. I just recently went from Ensign to VA for the Vette when I came back a few weeks ago. Took about 2 days again at Sothis/Ceos doing Boom Deliveries between the two systems. Made over 200m getting those 5 ranks and that was after a ton of donate missions when they popped up.
I used to have that issue pre-beyond that the missions were good initially, but would dry up after a few visits. Didnt have that issue either.

I like your videos, but I find myself going to other sources in frustration.
You need to either talk slower, or at least show a picture of what you're talking about because your voice is hard to understand, and even harder when you speed slur your words. I get about half the information you put out... otherwise you would be my primary source of information on Elite.
I like your videos but I definitely don’t agree with this one. What’s the point of getting elite rank by fleeing conflict zones when it gets challenging? What is that proving? Teaching CMDRs how to take advantage of the game limitations.. I am thankfully still Master rank, I have so much to learn
