Oh man...This video did not upload at the time I had scheduled it for...damn....XD Oh well. I hope you guys will enjoy this 4 part course on Gouache! Part 2 will upload tonight :)
You have stunningly beautiful eyes. Thank you for the information! This was very well broken down - very much appreciated! Take care and thanks thanks thanks!
I've been using Strathmore Mixed Media paper to practice gouache and I was wondering why I was struggling to keep the strokes even. Now I know that a toothier paper is ideal for beginners. Thank you!
This video was really useful to me..I have never used gouache and was never comfortable with watercolors and gouache sounds like a good middle ground..I've mostly used acrylics, but have been wanting to try other mediums..this video helped me understand gouache a little better,I'll watch your other videos on it too 😊
So excited for this series!! Today was the first time I’ve actually considered trying gouache out and then you post this. Love how the universe works ❤️
This video was so perfectly explained and it has all the main informations you need to know about gouache and to start working with gouache!! It’s seriously so well made and put together, thank you so much for sharing Myriam! This is going to be so useful to any gouache beginners! 💕✨ can’t wait to watch the next videos :)
Please pronounce the word correctly French word Goo ash. Got it used to be designers gouache. Flat colour it will always be streaky if blended. I only ever use for highlights on watercolour
@@fionabromby4546 I was pulled up by an art teacher for pronouncing it goo ache she said its pronounced the same as squash but with a g. It's not pronounced gwash either as in this video
This is fantastic! I’ve recently discovered gouache and did a 30-day painting challenge with it. What I learnt from that was that I have a lot a learn 😆😆. Thank you for sharing your wisdom 😊
Oh, your advice about brushes makes so much sense! I can't wait to try gouache with non-watercolour brushes, and see what difference it makes. Thank you so much!
Love using my Designers Gouache, and been painting with them for many years. I paint from vintage 100+ years old Christmas postcards, and 40s /50s Christmas cards. Usually use 300gsm paper. They are expensive compared to other mediums but I like them. Also use them for painting from old American comic book covers from the 40s to the 60s era, and they end up poster size. Love the videos Myriam. RAY LANG in the UK
I appreciate this series so much. Finally taking the plunge and using Gouache. I am just finding it challenging to get the consistency of the Gouache correct. I suppose it will come with time. Thanks again and I hope you are enjoying your 2021 so far.
Thank you so much!!! I have been painting for over 50 years in mostly watercolor and have wondered what exactly gouache was and how to use it. Also, your overview of the brushes and colors was very helpful. I already have most of the same tools and paints, and I am excited about working with gouache.
So well organized and timed very helpful - finally, a tutorial that actually defines the difference between water-colour, gouache and acrylic - charmingly and professionally presented too!
This was great. Thank you. :-) I mostly paint in watercolour and acrylic, but I have been thinking about trying out gouache. I'm looking forward to watching the series.
Thank you so much! I've only recently decided to try gouache for the firs time. While I'm waiting for it to arrive, I'm watching these awesome tutorials. Very helpful!
Aw, that’s super lovely, thank you! How many ads were there on this video, out of curiosity? I don’t manually put them in, so I wonder how many TH-cam puts on a video like this.
I’m new to gouache and stumbled across this video doing a search. It’s just what I needed and I look forward to watching the other 3 in the series. I’m also excited to look at your newer material.
I got some for my 18th birthday and brought it in with me in high school during art class because our final was to create a series using any medium we wanted and my teacher asked “What’s gouache?” I let her use some of mine on a scrap paper and she fell in love with it instantly. I painted 4 mini landscapes from my mind on mixed media paper and got an A+. I also brought my Copic markers, gel pens, and watercolor pencils with me because people at my table wanted to use them but my school could only afford crayola brand art supplies. (Actually they gave my teacher a budget of $2 per student for supplies. She had to cut into her own paycheck to provide us with supplies.) It’s sad but people really loved the new types of supplies.
Thank you Myriam for this informative introduction to gouache. I'm using acrylics but even with the most expensive paints that claim to be opaque on the tube, I'm having to go over dark areas many times with yellows and oranges in particular, so I'm considering giving gouache a try.
Yellow and orange are both transparent. Try underpainting with white. Or you can apply the paint really thickly, though that's not very budget friendly.
I have to say I have watched alot of videos on gouache as I wanted to learn how to use them. but no one has broken it down as wonderfully as you have done. thank you!!
You have a done a great job with the tutorial. I am just starting to experiment with gouache, even though I have painted for years. You are filling in all the elements I need for knowledge before I begin. Thanks
I also have a very soft spot for Payne's grey. It's my favourite colour to darken with in my watercolour palette. This video came just at the most opportune time. I was hoping to use gouache more in some future pieces and I'm still finding my footing with it! Thank you ♥
Thank you so much that was very helpful :) I’m a textiles student and I’m finding the drawing and painting side of my course challenging. This was nicely explained in a relaxing manner - perfect!
I just finished the first part and I am really really excited to start trying gouache again after I gave up about it and put it aside for a long time🏃🏻♀️..
i just bought my first gouache kit and i'm so happy to found your series! I already learned so much just watching your video and will start practicing today with watching the other 3 videos of you. Thank you soo much for this! ❤❤
It was a month's worth of work to do all 4 videos, but I hope you guys will enjoy it! I was looking forward o being able to upload it to my channel ^^ Thank you for the kind words!
Thank you for this! Very excited to learn. Using gouache for the first time and I think your videos will be very helpful for me. Much love from the Philippines! 🇵🇭
Thank you very much! That was so informative and I am grateful. I've experience with acrylics and watercolours, but have never used guoache. This was terrific for giving the basics. I'll def ck out the other vids in this series. Blessings
Thanks for making this! Trying to pick up gouache quickly for a college class rn and these videos have been so helpful. Just wanted to say thanks, and also let you know that the link in the description for video #2 in the series takes you to a sketchbook tour vid instead of the next in this series.
This is a very useful video! I’m grateful for it, but the first thing I thought about was the fact that I had your EXACT haircut in high school. 😅 The memories came flooding back like watery gouache!
I can't wait to watch the rest of these 🥲 This was so well explained and paced; instead of feeling overwhelmed, I actually feel excited to start learning 🙇🏻♀️
I wanted to say i found this video extremely informative I am excited to watch the others in this series and finally start experimenting with my gouache paints. Also just so you are aware the videos linked in the description go to different videos of yours that are not the continuations for this. I was super confused but I still found the right videos on your page.
Oh gosh you are right! It must've been a side-effect of putting all my videos on Private earlier this year. How weird! I'll fix that right away, thank you for the heads up! I'm glad you are enjoying the series ^^
You are WONDERFUL! You're so helpful and nice, really easy to follow and learn from you. And also your voice is very soothing and I could watch this even if I didn't like painting
Thank you so much for your video. It was very informative and extremely helpful. I love watercolor, I always used acrylics and dabble in oil. I was originally taught to never mix watercolor, so only recently have I discovered gouache. You did an excellent job of explaining everything very clearly. I’m looking forward to the rest. 🤫😥I’m not sure if anyone has pointed this out before but in your worksheet, where you have the color washes for Raw Sienna you listed it as Raw Umber.
This is so wonderfully done! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. ❤️ I will be using this tutorial to introduce my children to gouache soon!
Fantastic insight into gouache paints and lots of good tips and information😊 havent ever painted with gouache before but have been considering it for a while.
Thank you so much Miryam, I really really enjoyed watching this. I have a basic set of Gauche, and I really really appreciate your help with getting to grips with these paints. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up 👍 too. Please stay safe and well too. P.S. I really really love ❤️ your Owl 🦉 picture stunning and gorgeous too
Thanks for your tutorials, your voice and way of telling is quite calming, really appreciate it. One question: how can you make the material for painting gouache? Could you show it? My best regards

Myriam Tillson hello
You have 2 raw umbers on the worksheet pdf. I’m having a hard time telling which one is the wrong one lol
Bree T Raw umber is the darker one on the bottom row of the worksheet. Raw sienna is the lighter one under the titanium white on the worksheet.
@@breet9499 I do? Ah damn, I'm sorry!! The raw umber is the darker one (middle column) and the lighter one in the right column is raw sienna :)
