I feel like we definitely need more artists walking through their paintings with explanations on the techniques and approaches, so I want to say thank you for making this video! I just started with gouache and this is super helpful. Also your painting is gorgeous as always, I love how you use different hues to make it all come together harmoniously in the end! :D
Wow! I don't know how you do that! It's truly amazing! This contrast, and when you look in the simple way, they're patches of paint and when you look, you see all this beautiful, beautiful details! Oh my Gosh! So beautiful! I love your channel! Your artwork is so impressive ❤🥰❤❤❤
Maybe you want to do a Video about values, shape and kontrast and how to identify it in a reference. Or how to study it. And Maybe a Video about doing a masterstudy the „right“ way🙈 I‘m so excited for your brushes!
I really appreciated seeing the reference throughout the video it was great too late to let you were seeing and then what was put down on the paper. What I would also really learn from is seeing the pallette
I love how amazingly well done these videos are, it's enjoyible and cozy to watch, but also packed to the brim with knowledge, I love how she mentions every ditail no matter how small it seems, no stone left unturned type shi, no joke some of the most helpfull gouache videos for me on the whole site, thanks for this incredible vidoes and hoping for more in the future
i always watch a youtube video of an amazing artist with a specific medium and then want to do it, now i want gouache after trashing it for years.... i loved this video ur way of painting is theraputic
You're lovely, I think your portraiture is phenomenal. Im just now jumping into them in Paints, straying from Graphite which typically come out pretty soft and warm. I enjoyed, have a great day.
I got new Gouache paints and since im fairly young i don't really know how to paint with them. Even with tutorials. Your videos really, REALLY, helped me in painting portraits! :D
I love your content. As an artist who hasn't been drawing much in adulthood, I started watching vids for inspo to start again. You're one of my favorite channels. I scrolled through your IG and saw how much you've grown at your craft over the years. Love the brush set, so glad you kept the blue colour! Thank you for sharing your art with us.
i love your art and am happy to see you moving forward with business like landing products in your name which is so cool. been watching good luck i am rooting for you!
Yes, I certainly did learn a LOT. Really great tutorial. I'm a portrait artist but I work primarily in watercolour on Aquaboard. I LOVE painting this way but I'm wanting to mix things up, loosen the fluff up and try the whole Gouache thing. I'm hoping this will be a way I can loosen up my work. Your brushes look absolutely beautiful and exactly what I need to attempt to pull this off. I've purchased a couple of sets of ShinHan plus some extras and I'm good to go but quite confused about the whole dark to light, colour shifts etc. Anyhoo, I'm counting down until your brushes are available. Thanks for the free knowledge. Much appreciated. Cheers, Beverley, Newcastle, Australia 🇦🇺
I'm so glad to hear that you learned something! Trying gouache is going to be an exciting challenge, it should also work wonderfully on aquaboard! I haven't tried ShinHan gouache, but I've heard great things! I'm excited to hear how your gouache adventures go 💛 The whole dark to light and value shift thing will become easier to understand with practice, so just try to enjoy the journey! 😊 The brushes come out today and I am so excited! 🎉
I came here because im a big fan of Hamrib and I saw your comments on her IG! Im so happy to see your Collaboration with Craftamo! Congratulations! 😮saw that you’re in Canada too! ❤
Hi!!! can you do a dark skin portrait or a tutorial of sort some time?😭. you are my huge inspiration for painting anything❤. I hope to paint like you one day💪
Hey! I'm just watching this video rn, and I dont know if you already did something like this. But could you make a portrait using only primary colors and black and white? I only have this 5 colors hahaha
I bought these brushes immediately! You should paint Meryl Streep in the devil wears Prada. That would be so gorgeous in your painting style! I’m so jealous I can’t paint like this😂😩💖
One thing I was never taught in school was how much water or linseed oil to add to the paint itself (crazy, ik) how much water should I be adding to the goachr paint I squeeze out of the tube? Thanks!!
Do I paint with gouache? No never, but these are my favorite videos from you and I've used a light purple in my portraits ever since you recommended it
I can definitely make a print of this one! If there are any other portraits you'd like to see prints of, let me know 🥰 Brushes launch in a few hours! Woohoo! 🎉
Quick question: when you were placing the darkest darks near the beginning, how thick was the paint? It looks like you use a milk consistency for the majority of the painting.
Great question! I tend to use a tea consistency only for the under painting/ sketch (burnt sienna in this case). the rest of the painting, including the darkest darks are all using a milk-pancake batter consistency 💛
Please will you tell us what the brush hairs are made from? I see they're two-toned - are there two different types of brush hairs in there? Also, do you know how long the brushes are from end to end? They look long. Trying to figure out if they'll fit in my brush roll, but I don't see this info on the webpage. Thank you! Love the painting.
Hi! These are great questions! There is only one type of brush hair used, they are cruelty-free synthetic nylon filaments. They are longer lasting and much less prone to damage from solvents and paint compared to natural fibers! You can find more info on the "care" page of the Craftamo website. As for the length, they are actually short-medium length brushes. The shortest (the #2 round brush) is 7.5 inch from end to end, and the longest (the 1" flat brush) is 9". I designed them with my own brush roll in mind. Thank you so much for watching! Let me know if you have any other questions 😊🩷

So helpful and a pleasure to watch you paint!
I love when big shapes are used…I’m still working on this but the results are stunning!
Thank you so much! Using bigger brushes and squinting at your references will help with this. It's about training your brain with practice 😊
@@emhuesart thank you… learning a lot! Your art style is beautiful!🥰🥰🥰

Your gouache portrait videos are so informative! Thank you for sharing your process with us ❤ your paintings, as always, are incredible!
I'm so glad you enjoyed! If there's anything specific you'd like to see in a future video, let me know! ❤️
Even with mini paintings tend to use multiple water containers to clean off and reduce water swapping
I'm so in love with your work and style of painting gouache portraits. It's very encouraging 💜
Thank you so much 🥹💗
Your videos always give me so much inspiration, this was beautiful♥️

beautiful work!
Thank you!!
Beautiful
Great videos! Why do you prefer cold-press paper over hot-press? Just for the texture?
How do you get the right values and choosing colors I struggle a lot with it, your paintings look very pretty
I’m so excited to watch this ❤
Yay! I hope you enjoy! ❤
I really want to try turner gouache but it's not as easy to get in the uk as winsor and newton 🥰
Turner is super affordable here, especially with the size of their tubes, but I find W&N is more packed with pigment! 😊
Fabulous job ❤
Thank you 💕💕
Awesome work💜❤❤💜❤💜❤💜❤💜❤👏💜❤💜❤💜👏💝
wooow very cute and subscribed - good luck
