To open it, remove all keycaps and look for some holes from the inside part. Use a plastic spudger to avoid damage

I have a gmk67 (same board) and it is the easiest thing to open - take off the keycaps and use a plastic knife to pop the outside of the case off from the INSIDE. That easy.

  • @W1nt3rFox
    @W1nt3rFox 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +67

Really easy toolless way to open the case is to remove the knob and the top row of keycaps, put your thumbs there the 5 and 9 keys were and push the top case back and upward, it'll release the clips with the least effort and zero damage.
Also the gmk67 is the same board with a polycarbonate plate for half the price

I got an iFixit Kit with the small, thin picks and prying tools and it has been a life saver for three different Epomaker boards that I've built (most recently the Aura 75), all of which had the clips that hold the case together. Other than that lack of mod-ability, I've enjoyed their boards.

EK68 is pretty much a rebadged GMK67, though on the box it says designed and manufactured by Epomaker. Even the software is the same but they couldn't be arsed to translate the window title, unlike the ZUOYA/BOYI software. The only difference is it's fully prebuilt, and they sell a VIA base separately for $75. A $50 difference just for VIA vs the GMK67, you could buy 2 more GMK67s

Hey Hipyo, i'm a zuoya GMK67 user, and this EPOMAKER EK68 is practically the same keyboard but rebranded to be an epomaker (as seen with other epomaker keyboards too). I was also stuck on how to open the very snug plastic case, but its actually pretty simple and tool-less(if you know what you're doing). So you basically take off the keycaps, maybe the switches too if you want, then push the upper part of the case with your fingers firmly, and it should just snap out along with the lower half

You might want to look into insulation made from recycled jeans. I'm working on a keyboard with lights, so can't really test it, but it's pretty effective for insulation, so maybe it'll work just as well for insulating a keyboard.

to take this apart, as well as the gmk67, you have to take of the back 3 middle keycaps (5,6,7), and if your fingers are big, the switches too. then you just have to pull back and up at the rear of the case should snap off. from there you have to pull the rest of the case apart, and can take under 20 seconds if you learn how to do it

I'd be really interested in a video discussing the long term use of certain switches!
I have the pre-lubed Gateron pro 3.0 yellow switches in a heavily modified Keychron q6 pro (force break, electrical tape, freaking car insulation), and I swear the switches have slowly felt more rattly (pingy maybe?) over just a few weeks of use.
I'm not sure if you have a daily that gets a ton of use, but the video would be interesting if you can share any info. Love your videos thanks!

There's usually a break-in period for lube. It settles in over a few days/weeks of use. If you're getting ping, you may want to lube the springs. Rattle means lube the rails.
If you're feeling really lazy, store it upside down when not using and you might get some lube moving back up into place.

I think for a budget keyboard, it depends. For example, for a high quality keyboard, it should be around $70-$89. But for an average mechanical keyboard, it should be around $40-$70. And for custom keyboards from scratch, they should be $80-$150.

I want too get wuque studios morandi switches. Could you recommend some keyboards that is hotswap and 65% that is around a 100$ and has a iso layout that works great with wuque morandi switches, could you also recommend some good websites to buy keyboards and switches and some Nordic layout keycaps.

almost any keyboard can be used really. my friend has been using a cheap like amazon basic keyboard for years and only just recently is deciding to get the wooting 60he like i did. my previous board however were the ducky one 2 sf and then the corsair vengeance k65. so mine were so basic. as long as it works and has n key rollover. or maybe at least 6. but thats not usually a problem these days. u would get more out of a better mouse honestly. but of course board like the wooting do more than just work and have good performance, thats like next level stuff.

The fact that I paid $90 bucks for it didn't help either. Keychron offers a better value by far over the EK68. I like the way mine sounded, it was pretty thocky out of the box. I just couldn't be happy knowing how much I spent on it for how little value it provided.

This keyboard is actually easy to open up lol, kind of shocking to see how you were doing it. But yeah, all you need to do is remove the entire top row of keycaps and you push your thumbs on the bottom side portion of the case while pulling the top portion of the case to you. The case opens fairly easy.

it's just a repainted gmk67, so just insert something like a card between them and it should pop open

"Imagine having three food bowls and still eating cardboard," I feel you Hipyo.
My cat will have a full bowl of food (after loudly demanding I fill it) and then will abandon the food bowl and start eating my shoes.

This board looks 100% identical to a few other boards. GMK67 perhaps? I grabbed one on a flash sale for 30 bucks about a month ago, assembled, but no switches/caps.

I use ISO-German keyboards. (Keychrons) More content about that would be very interesting for me, cause it's quite difficult to get get the perfect keyboards and keycaps for them.

Small addition: I use German-ISO boards with 100 % layout. I simply need my numpad for work, there is no need for more deskspace. And getting the perfect ISO-German keyboard with 100% layout is the real challenge.
