    in Asia we have alot of those, probably all coming from the same factory, all at the 50usd mark. But what I love about Keychron doing this is that they are a company with a name to them internationally, and its showing that budget universal hotswap and hotswap in general are becoming mainstream, which is nice growth for the mechanical keyboard scene in general.

    Thanks for the review , it was a great video. I've been using the C1 fo two months now, it's my first mech kb and it's great ! Some drawbacks I have noticed along with the hollowness of the board is a disgusting pinging noise. Apart from that I've been enjoying it lot. I didn't know that I would need to remove the switches when I bought it so I would advise to get the hot-swap version to at least be able to lube them and get rid of these spring noises. Peace ✌

    This is definitely a big step up from a lot of the cheap outemu switch boards, but mine was a bit inconsistent. Factory lubing is good if done right. Half of my stabs are very poorly lubed and scratchy. Every key has a different feel and sound. It needs some love.
    I guess if you have time it can be fixed, but I just needed a mechanical prebuilt for my office and don't want to be lubing dozens of switches + stabs at my office workspace.

    I picked up the C2 for work since I need the numpad, and I LOVE it so much I convinced my brother to pick up the C1. It's a great secondary keyboard for work, and I almost find myself wondering if I like it more than my home keeb. I haven't had any issues with the space bar, but the first thing I did was replace the switches it came with using kiwis, so maybe that has something to do with it.

    After daily driving for almost 1.5 months, I must say, this Keyboard has an unmatched value of 55 Dollars. Heck, even the Non-Hotswap variant is a great value KB too.
    Just to add, since this doesn't have software support, spending more to buy the RGB variant is kind of worthless IMO.

    Another great review. I can’t imagine switching boards as much as you do, I’m a programmer so I’m so happy you’re doing. You also saved me some $ with your K3 review. I’m looking for a low profile 60 or 65 percent board to compliment,y K1 V4 which is the best TKL I’ve found in a low profile design. I need one that is a little smaller for fitting in my bag when I’m travelling (some day) or at a coffee shop (some day). I like it even better than the overpriced Logitech offering which is a nice bonus given the price difference. Sadly low profile still seems to be a little niche with only a few boards hitting the market compared to the flood of regular profile boards. My next hope for a 60% low profile board is the new Cooler Master SK620 or it would be if it was in stock anywhere.
    Cheers,
    Christopher

  • @CgPallaeon
    @CgPallaeon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Picked one up based on this review - the price is right and the board is a great starting point for additional modification and fixes. I've slapped in some sound-dampening foam, lubed the stabs and the switches, and I'm waiting for some thick PBT keycaps. There's a ton of variety in standard switches compared to optical, and without needing to worry about soldering should allow to try a variety of switch types.
    Off the bat though stock with red gaterons, it's hollow and rattly as all heck, so that might throw off those that just want to buy a TKL and then plug it in and never do anything else with it.
    Keychron was super awesome in ordering though - I ordered it on a Tuesday and got it on a Friday! They're good people.

    I was going to get the K3 hotswap with optical reds at first, however after some research, I realized that there are not enough low-profile keycaps options out there and considering how easily the keycaps get worn out after time, I ditched that option and looked elsewhere and found this gem.
    Ordered the keeb based on this review. Considering this is going to be my first mechanical keyboard, I'm super thrilled. I don't need wireless, so I believe this is a sweet spot for me.
    Thank you very much, you are great and keep up with the awesome work you do!

    I got the C2 a few weeks ago for work and put cap milky yellows in it. Can confirm, this is a great value.

    Nice review. Definitely not enough attention being given to this board, it's a great deal for the price. I was just about to buy one but their site was out of stock for the hot swap version so I ended up spending a bit more $ on a hot swap K2 instead. Looking forward to that long term review vid

    Also, I'd love to get modding videos! I saw people mod them with the foam that comes with the board, as a complete beginner it's super confusing and I don't wanna mess it up lol! Love the videos!

    I just ordered this, it’ll be my first keyboard moving away from Corsair and razer mech keyboards. I’m looking forward to the mods you do for it.

    I might have to buy a C2 now. I wonder what that plastic case would do to the sound of BOX jades.
    great vid, Betty. Thanks for telling us about it.

    I picked one of these up with the Gateron Pro Blue Switches from Amazon, and wow, that is all I can say. I love this keyboard, it' smooth to type on and has a great sound right out of the box. I did purchase some Akko Black Jelly Pre-Lubed to replace the blues, but I don't think I really need to change anything on this keyboard, it is great stock.

    I bought it and i absolutely love it. I don't have the issue with the spacebar, but I went for the Gateron Red switch option. Maybe that's why.

    Such great entry level mechanical keyboards being released this is a good time to hop in into the hobby without breaking the bank

      Honestly that makes me excited because I really want to get into the hobby but I don't want to spend a good portion of my paycheck to get a hold of keeb things xD;;

    I have had this keyboard for nearly 2 years or so and it has been great. I bought the brown switch. It is just so great I bought the gamakay tk75 and I have been having so many issues that were not there in the C1. The Mac/Win button is so great. All the keys that you generally need or use are present and we dont need to worry about using the fn key generally.

    I’ve been looking for an affordable keyboard for ages. Thank you so much (is there another option for the key caps? Because personally I prefer a more vibrant colour)

    Great job, have been watching a lot of your videos to get myself familiar with the hobby! About the Keychron boards, I was wondering which ones had what case material plastic/ aluminum, because I couldn't find much about that on their website...

    I had a Mac head neighbor who I guess was trying out different keyboard models, and I am guessing he picked up a couple of Keychron keyboards and threw out the ones he didn't want when they moved out. Yup in a box was a c1, k2 and k3 just sitting there.
    So I was considering a Keychron for the office but held off because I actually have never enjoyed mechanical keyboards. But now I had a opportunity to try them out for free!
    I must say because of the keyboards size and portability & feature set I really like these little guys. Still not a fan of the mech portion but its not a big deal, being able to throw a keyboard in my bag while on the go is great. the C1 has been the keyboard I sometimes leave at my desk and don't letting people use, nice and full of great features.

    i just picked one of these up on amazon, as I already have a few KC boards. I wanted something that I could throw around and not worry too much while traveling. I'm pretty blown away by how it feels. It makes me not want to trash it traveling lmao. I'm loving the gateron browns too. They're super thwocky and woody sounding, which I love.

    Good review, find your content to one of the best when it comes to keyboard reviews. Keychron C2 was on my list to buy but was out of stock and ended up with Ducky One 2.

    I wish there was a wired-only 75% option from Keychron. I went with the K2 for the form factor despite no need for the wireless functionality, but I would have loved to save money on a feature I didn’t need (as you mentioned).
