- Pietro Denis published his mandolin method in Paris in 1768, from which this piece comes. It is the first concert-repertoire piece in my book: Play Ukulele in 5ths Tuning, published by Mel Bay www.melbay.com/Products/31090... As my book mentions, Aquila make two sets of Ukulele in 5ths strings, one for a Soprano (30U - GDAE tuning - same as a violin) and Concert (31U - CGDA - same as a viola or as a cello an octave higher). The Concert strings also work on a Tenor ukulele, as I show here, but I tune all the strings down a semitone or two as the string length of the Tenor is longer. So, you do need to change all the strings from your regular gCEA tuning. Many people use this as an excuse to buy yet another ukulele!
